“I don’t want to do this,” James says as he stands on the front porch of the house where he’ll be expected to hide for the foreseeable future without Sirius.

“I know, and I don’t want you to either, but we have to do our best for our son,” Sirius states.  “And everyone thinks that he’s your son with Lily, and – that’s for the best.  So, we have to do this.”

“I know, I know, it’s just that I don’t want to be without you.”

“At least it’s temporary,” Sirius says.  “It’s not forever.”

“Yeah, but we don’t know how temporary – it could be a day, a week, a month, a year… I don’t think I could handle any more than that.”

Sirius sighs.  “Believe me, I will figure out a way to get you out of hiding soon, just – trust me.  We’ll figure it out.”

James nods.  “I do trust you.  I just – I’m going to miss you.”

“I’m going to miss you, too.”

“Good.”

“Just remember – temporary.”

“Temporary.  I can do that.”

“Good.”

“Good.”
