Thoughts on James being a bully and how he was worse than Snape?

He can't possibly be worse than Snape.

We don't know much about his 'bullying', but we do know that the situation wasn't really one-sided.

But I've talked about this before (below are links to the posts).

James' 'bullying' but growing up and going on to defend those that he doesn't have to vs Snape going on to attack those when he supposedly loves one and then continuing that trend to bully her son and his students is enough that James could never be worse than Snape.

Prompt: Sirius & Harry, stray cat

ok, so this was supposed to be for my bday but it ended up a Halloween treat 🍬🍭🍫

I got distracted and forgot to insert the cat in it that much 😭 Also Sirius is alive cause I said so 😤

"Did you know that your parents owned a cat?" 

Harry didn't look up from his bowl of steaming soup but a listless shrug was his silent response. His hold tightened on the expensive silver spoon, yet another reminder that despite a clear name, his godfather and him were still living in 12 Grimmauld Place. He didn't really understand why they were not moving out, but then again these days his mind was pleasantly numb. After all said and done and Voldemort gone, the radio silence in his brain was a blessing.

He was so tired. The countless fights and painful losses had caused an emotional collapse in him. He had not joined the victory celebrations. He had sneaked out of the parties he was invited to. He had locked himself in his room, seeking comfort that he hadn't found since Halloween 1981. Still, there was nothing but a vast void, a place that should have been occupied by Lily and James Potter who were buried under the cold ground despite everything.

What a useless triumph, just a tragic success. 

It was Halloween night again. 

"They had one. She was a stray. You hated her because she kept stealing my attention." 

Harry could imagine. He could see a picture perfect of a small happy family, a cat purring on his godfather's lap while he was pouting in his mom's arms, seeking attention and his dad's boisterous laughter. He smiled softly at that.

A warm hand cupped his cold face and caressed away a single tear drop he hadn't realised had fallen on his pale cheek. He was falling apart without even realising.

"Hush." 

"It's Halloween," replied Harry, as if it was self-explanatory and it was.

"And that means trick or treat," Sirius barked a laugh despite his wet eyes.  

Harry eyed him warily. "Is my treat a cat?" He tried to offer a wobbly smile.

"Maybe," teased Sirius and pushed a magical photo towards him gingerly.

Harry frowned at the photo, a punch of a bizarre melancholy knocking the air out of his lungs. It was a small cottage in a small garden filled with sunflowers. The scenery was familiar and after a second Harry realised he was looking at the Potter Cottage in Godric's Hollow. 

Sirius softly tapped on the photo with his wand. The setting changed. Now Harry was looking at the inside of the cottage. There was a small kitchen and a cosy living room, filled with crimson cushions. There was a mantelpiece with pictures on top, of his parents' first dance on their wedding day, of his father and godfather laughing together, of his mom embracing him while his dad and Sirius were cooing at him.

It was a beautiful mirage of what could have been. 

"Your parents' cottage looked like this, Harry," said Sirius tentatively. "I have been absent from your life when I should have been present and for that I am sorry." 

Harry grunted in disagreement and Sirius hummed. "I have promised a home to you, remember? I am a man of my word," he said, his voice hushed and concentrated.

"We are going to move there soon. It's your home. It's where James and Lily are going to receive you for their happy memories linger there." 

Harry blinked and blinked and blinked. Home…he was going home to his parents. Not under piles of soil but to a warm loving household. So, he did the only thing he longed to do all this time. He wailed, loud and shameless before throwing himself into Sirius' arms. 

Sirius ran his fingers through Harry's messy hair soothingly but made no effort to stop his sobs. "Let it all out," he whispered and Harry did, as the old wound bled and bled until there was nothing left to bleed. 

"Home is with you, Sirius," he murmured into his godfather's chest. "home is with you and the happiness your presence brings me." 

"Home is the peace you blessed our souls with. Thank you for taking care of our son in our place. Be happy and live a long life, until we meet again."

I don’t really think this one is a deleted scene… but I have seen it added to lists of the remaining deleted scenes…

but if it is…and we get more than the six seconds we get here… WE ARE ALL DONE FOR!

My final point is the deleted scenes we have left are all going to potentially send us all into a big ol fan-frenzy

The Star-Crossed Lovers Angle

Alright, I'm re-reading the hunger games, and it just occurred to me that there's no way the star-crossed lovers thing came up just before the interview prep day.

The reason I think this is because Cinna/Portia already planned for them to be a proper duo - in fact, Cinna tells them to hold hands in the opening ceremonies, they are dressed alike every day, and are told to act like they're friends and a duo throughout everything.

This all leads up to Peeta's 'big confession' that supposedly makes Katniss desireable. (For the record, I think Katniss would've gotten the attention and sponsors she did with/without all that - she had a lot going for her).

That said, they either would've had to plan the star-crossed lovers thing all along OR maybe they figured at least 'friends' and losing one another would lead to rebellion somehow? Haymitch says 'the hand holding added a touch of rebellion' and it seems like there was that obvious lead that he had chosen Katniss to live. (She probably had the best odds with the way she started out by volunteering).

So, did they plan to 'use friends' or did Peeta admit to his feelings when he cleaned up Haymitch / before Katniss joined them for breakfast on the train? Could Haymitch/Cinna/the rebellion been planning to use her (and anything they could get out of Peeta) and it just worked out?

I don't think 'just friends' would've worked because some of the tributes become friends or at least care because they're from home (ala what Johanna says in CF). So, now I am wondering WHEN Peeta confessed or if they always planned on having Peeta lie or something if he hadn't been crushing on her?

He's grinning and happy and there’s a slight chance he’s in total denial, but he’s like ninety-five percent confident that it’s all going to be okay, and he doesn’t want to think about the other five percent.  It’s unlikely, after all.  Henry’s looking at him, somewhat disbelievingly.  He’s always been a bit pessimistic, and Alex can tell he’s trying to figure out how to let Alex down easy with regards to the possibilities, so Alex turns the music back up and Shut Up and Dance with Me blares through the speaker.  Alex grins as he moves to grab Henry’s hands.  “Gotta listen to the song, baby.  Let’s shut up and dance.” Henry throws his head back and laughs, but seemingly decides that it’s better to have a happy boyfriend over the sad boyfriend of the last day.  Together, they’ll enjoy this trip and weather the storm if and when it comes.

1. Are you named after anyone? I am! My Nonna!

2. When was the last time you cried? Uhhh... does getting teary-eyes at the reaping scene & Katiness getting a three-finger salute count, if so , yesterday.  Yes, I am re-reading.  If not, hmmmm, IDK.

3. Do you have kids? God, No.

4. Do you use sarcasm a lot? Absolutely.  It’s the only way I could get through some of the stupidity I deal with.

5. What sports do you play/have you played? So MANY.  I was a swimmer the longest, but I played Bitty Ball (basketball) for 4 years, Soccer for the off-season for swimming, and some other ball-related sports plus Cheerleading for a bit.  

6. What’s the first thing you notice about other people? Pretty eyes and pretty hair -> ironically, I don’t notice glasses even though I wear them.  Like I noted my co-worker has like the prettiest eyes, but then, months after knowing him, I noticed he was wearing glasses and I was like “Have you always had glasses?” - the look he gave me as he said ‘yes’ -> OMG.

7. Scary movies or happy endings? Happy endings!

8. Any special talents?  Define special talent?  I’m double jointed, I suppose…

9. Where were you born? The Big City -> I’ll let you guess which one :)

10. What are your hobbies? Reading, Writing, watching TV and getting annoyed at timeline errors and inconsistencies - ask me about never ending November, I dare you. :)

11. Do you have any pets? My puppy who is a freaking menace and my two piggies showcased on my profile :)

12. All-time fave piece of media? Uuhhhhhhhhhh.  I don’t - I can’t pick a favorite.  I have different moods.  Some moods lend to some shows, others lead to others.

13. Fave subject in school? Anything math related. 

14. Dream job? Not working...  Alright, not an answer.  I’ve always wanted to be an Astronaut at 31, I still do.  But I have glasses and I am terribly overweight so, it’s probably out of the cards.  

15. Eye colour? Light brown.

I have always found it baffling that some people think Ron is the heart of the trio, when in my mind he is so obviously the brawn, due to him always being ready to physically fight those who say bad things about his friends. Harry is so obviously the heart due to him being the one who makes the Golden Trio, the Golden Trio, and being Peacemaker for Ron and Hermione more often than not.
