niallhoran: It’s time! Excited to get back into my favourite London local @thetoucansoho for a cold, smooth pint of the black stuff. If you can, get out and support your local pub now that they’re open, they need it guys. Now, where’s the Guinness emoji when you need it? @guinness *All content was filmed in accordance with local Covid-19 guidelines.* #ad

Writing Roundup 1: May 2021
Herein lie links to all of my tumblr writings from May 2021 with brief descriptions.  I’ll be releasing these roundups about once a week until I catch up with myself, and then monthly, and I’ll link them on my masterlist page.  Thanks @energievie for making me finally get on compiling these!
08May21: Knitting, the Pastime of Recovering Alcoholics and Convicted Felons.  First ever speedwrite.  In which Mickey and Lip practice knitting.
09May21: in response to ianandmickeygallavich’s call for birthday headcanons, Ian celebrates his birthday with Mickey, his family, and a couple of surprise guests
10May21: The Silence of Us.  Mickey reflects on growing up loud and trying to settle into a quiet life for Ian.  Turns out quiet isn’t too bad after all.
11May21: Ease My Pain.  In which Ian has a migraine, and Mickey makes it better.
12May21: Chasing After You.  Ian makes Mickey go for a run. Mickey has a minor crisis.
13May21: The Danger of Drains.  PSA: don’t leave your ring on the edge of the tub while you’re getting frisky.
14May21: Sweat it Out.  Mickey has thoughts on Ian exercising.  A bit spicy, but not explicit.
15May21: One of the Girls.  Ian and Mickey’s sex life is the talk of the building--or at least, of the women in the laundry room.
16May21: Dodge the What Now?  In which Ian and Mickey play softball and shock everyone with inside jokes.
17May21: Drunken Shenanigans.  Mickey likes to talk about Ian when he’s drunk.  Not explicit, but a drunk Mickey is a chatty Mickey.
18May21: Drunken Shenanigans Part 2.  The Uber drive home.  See above.
19May21: Betting on Bullets.  The Gallagher brothers (plus Mickey) have a friendly shooting competition.
20May21: No Leniency for Lateness.  A client is late.  Ian is annoyed.  And when the client calls him out on it, Mickey gets protective.
21May21: Uncle Mickey vs. Monsters.  Franny is spending the night, but she’s afraid of monsters in the dark.  Mickey helps.
22May21: Liam Learns to Fight.  Liam is getting picked on in school, so Mickey teaches him to hold his own.
23May21: Just Wanna Dance with You.  Ian and Mickey go to a club.  Mickey’s not a fan, but if Ian’s there, it’s okay.
24May21: I’ll Give You Good Dreams.  Ian keeps a dream journal for therapy.  Mickey is encouraging.
25May21: To Sleep, To Wake.  Mickey reflects on the difference between waking alone, or scared, and waking up wrapped in someone he loves.
26May21: Tomato and Basil.  Mickey cooks, Ian gardens, and a new furry friend makes his first appearance.
27May21: The Step-Count Sham.  Complete nonsense.  In which Ian wants Mickey to be healthy, and Mickey tries to trick his fitness tracker.
28May21: The Spider Scare.  Our boys are wimps when it comes to spiders.  Sandy and Franny show them how it’s done.
29May21: Small Talk.  Ian and Mickey try to go on a date and make small talk like a normal couple.
30May21: Show and Tell.  Sequel to Small Talk.  Ian and Mickey play show and tell with their scars.
31May21: In which Mickey and Ian’s daughter is having trouble at school, and goes to Mickey for help.

CJ court watch 17may21
SCt decided Caniglia v. Strom,  593 U. S. ___ (2021) today.  Decision was unanimous.  There were multiple concurrences stressing that the decision was a narrow one.
***During an argument with his wife at their Rhode Island home, Edward Caniglia (petitioner) retrieved a handgun from the bedroom, put it on the dining room table, and asked his wife to “shoot [him] now and get it over with.” She declined, and instead left to spend the night at a hotel. The next morning, when petitioner’s wife discovered that she could not reach him by telephone, she called the police (respondents) to request a welfare check.
Respondents accompanied petitioner’s wife to the home, where they encountered petitioner on the porch. Petitioner spoke with respondents and confirmed his wife’s account of the argument, but denied that he was suicidal. Respondents, however, thought that petitioner posed a risk to himself or others. They called an ambulance, and petitioner agreed to go to the hospital for a psychiatric evaluation— but only after respondents allegedly promised not to confiscate his firearms. Once the ambulance had taken petitioner away, however, respondents seized the weapons. Guided by petitioner’s wife—whom they allegedly misinformed about his wishes—respondents entered the home and took two handguns.
Petitioner sued, claiming that respondents violated the Fourth Amendment when they entered his home and seized him and his firearms without a warrant. The District Court granted summary judgment to respondents, and the First Circuit affirmed solely on the ground that the decision to remove petitioner and his firearms from the premises fell within a “community caretaking exception” to the warrant requirement.***
Cady’s unmistakable distinction between vehicles and homes also places into proper context its reference to “community caretaking.” This quote comes from a portion of the opinion explaining that the “frequency with which . . . vehicle[s] can become disabled or involved in . . . accident[s] on public highways” often requires police to perform noncriminal “community caretaking functions,” such as providing aid to motorists. 413 U. S., at 441. But, this recognition that police officers perform many civic tasks in modern society was just that—a recognition that these tasks exist, and not an open-ended license to perform them anywhere.
 * * *
What is reasonable for vehicles is different from what is reasonable for homes. Cady acknowledged as much, and this Court has repeatedly “declined to expand the scope of . . . exceptions to the warrant requirement to permit warrantless entry into the home.” Collins, 584 U. S., at ___ (slip op., at 8). We thus vacate the judgment below and remand for further proceedings consistent with this opinion.
