#15 to 30min

okay so having beat margit, I have two issues with the game right now:

the first is that for some reason every time I get a crit/riposte/whatever it breaks my lock on and I have to re-lock, which is annoying and I don't understand why that happens. It's not game-ruining, but it's a perplexing design choice that doesn't seem to serve any purpose other than inconveniencing the player in a pointless way

the second is that — and this one I think is one that could be argued against — I'm not especially fond of the camera. Namely, it doesn't seem to have any x-ray/transparency, so if I get backed into a wall/accidentally roll up to a wall or the enemy I'm locked onto positions themself juuust in the right place for some random object/foliage to be in front of my camera I just can't see what's going on at all. also sometimes when enemies do jumping attacks it seems to either give up on tracking them so that they're just off my screen or it tracks them in such a way where it's hard to gauge how far they are from the ground

Now, it could probably be argued that that second one is intentional, so you have to think about positioning and consider your environment and all that so you don't get a faceful of wall/bush/rock/etc in the middle of your fight, but I'm not especially fond of it

anyway, margit was alright. I think the only real problems I ended up having (as in, thing I still don't know how to deal with and consistently get screwed by as opposed to "oh I dodged too early/late there"/"why did I attack there I know there's a followup") were his funny beyblade attack with the hammer and stick and one of his combos with the magic light sword, which I seem to only be able to deal with by rolling away from him the moment he begins the first attacks in those combos and continuing to make distance for the duration of the combo because I seem to always get hit by one of the followup attacks (I assume you're meant to like. pace the dodgerolls in a way that he doesn't hit you with them but I ended up panic rollspamming at him when he did those combos until I decided to just get out of dodge the moment he started them)

(which isn't to say I didn't die a lot. I think I died. uuhh. maybe twenty to thirty times? (maybe more. I don't have a good memory) in my defense, I did try to parry him for most of my first few runs and intermittently went back to going for parries on my following runs. and I did manage to semi-consistently parry a couple or so of his attacks (the main ones being two of the forehand attacks with the stick that he does together, so I ended up getting quite a few ripostes off that. ended up giving up on the parries and just twohanding again though. square off is stupidly good for staggering)

#if I'm remembering the time played counter thing right I ended last night having done I think two attempts at a time of 5h 30min or so #and I beat him today some amount of minutes (I think 5-15) before 6h 10min or 6h 20min #robot plays elden ring

Idk who needs to hear this, but if you think you are annoying and that no one likes you, just be glad you aren't my Earth Surface Processes professor who is so awful at his job and so hated by his students that we had an insult tally on the whiteboard during our 2 hour study session.

(Do not feel bad for this man. He absolutely deserves it.)

#regarding our midterm (worth 20% of our grade) alone he: #1a) randomly moved it from in 2 weeks to in 9 days claiming it was department policy #1b) This was apparently a LIE as stated by a different geoscience professor who then encouraged us to complain to the higher ups #2a) released the exam study guide a day late #2b) Study guide was poorly worded with repeat questions/grammatical errors/run-on sentences/conflicting information #2c) got a bit annoyed when we asked about the conflicting info #3) Responded to yes or no questions with “sort of” (Ex: will we be provided the equations) #4) decided to add a new question onto the exam and guide 2 days before the midterm #5) negelcted to teach us how to solve one of the problems until 2 days before the midterm #6) was not present for his own office hours (never told us that he canceled or anything he just didn't show up) #and like i said this is regarding the midterm ALONE #Some insult highlights: #“Why does he love soil creep so much?” “Because that was his nickname in high school.” #“*Student* has been teaching us the content in the past 30min better than *Prof* ever has in an hour and 15.” #“I am not convinced that *Prof* is a human being. I think he's a robot piloted by a hamster.” “Actually its a swarm of fruit flies.” #“I would destroy him in a fight.” “Hes a twink. This is the bullshit about starting work again, I come home and continue with rubbish like planning plot processes and prioritisation matrixes and production programs and the like, instead of, you know, writing.

#managing the production vs actually “being the producer” brain #its such a different way of thinking I haven't worked out my 'snap brain into that different kind of creative mode again' #The reason I can be satisfied at my job is that I approach all that stuff *as* creative exercises; I create the clarity that does not exist #People blab for 30mins about problems and I doodle on a whiteboard and then they slow down and realise I've drawn their solution map #I *could* have been a consulting business analyst for the requirements definition stuff but detest the software/technologies rigidity part #What I really need is some 15 minute major physical/mental/formic break between work and home to switch brain modes #I do have a 20min powerwalk in there but then I have to do the kid/house so the endorphin benefit towards creative enterprise wears off

Nothing will teach you how to drive around excessive amounts of pedestrians like having a job that involves driving on a college campus.

#college kids are unpredictable and have a very limited will to live #and unfortunately whether or not i keep my job is riding on my ability to anticipate their movements #from behind the wheel of a stupidly large vehicle. #like if a student walks out in front of my truck and i were to hit them they would prob just get to skip class for a few days or whatever #whereas i would be shit out of a job + my health insurance and probably my fucking house and whatever else #so. I'm sure you all can imagine the stress i am under. #it doesn't help that all the students at this university get out of class at the same time for some ungodly reason #like if it's 15-30min after any given hour good fucking luck. you might as well stay put #you will likely get to wherever you're going in the same amount of time. #so uh. yep

I've come to the realization that 30 minute writing sprints are the best for me and it's amazing and definitely something I'm gonna use more often in the future for more of my works

#I can get somewhere between 500-900 words written in a single 30 minute sprint #whereas in a 15 min sprint I usually get 200-300 words #and a 20 min sprint somewhere around 400-450 on average #but today I've done 4 30min sprints and in each it was around 700-900 words whereas the 15-20min ones were 300-400 words #so #amber's shit you can ignore

I like that we do early Fridays in the summer but JEEZ this is my week and it lined up with my boss being MIA so I've been fielding a looooot suddenly and working late and ya boy's brain is FRIED
