Why is it that you can only accept love at arms length?

I am stretched out to you, arm spanning the great barrier of the kitchen table, waiting to see if you'll tilt into the gravity of my hand- I am consciously avoiding falling into that last pull towards you, in the likely case that you won't.

You called out to me this time. I forget you can do that. Your voice is the quietest I've ever heard.

When you were little, everyone assumed you'd grow out of your timidity - you've proved them wrong so far.

But tonight you were brave enough to whisper a single word and I was patient and gentle enough for you to decide I was safe enough to lean in to, just for a moment.

I have never felt more valuable to the world than in moments such as these.

The Iranian-backed Houthi Islamists, attacked and sunk a Belize-flagged commercial ship in the Red Sea. The ship was carrying 21,000 metric tons of Ammonium Phosphate Sulfate, and untold quantities of heavy fuel oil, which is now polluting and destroying the diverse ocean and coral life.

This cynical Iranian Islamic attack on global shipping increases all our costs, and is an affront to our natural environment.

The Islamists could care less who they kill, hurt, or how they damage our fragile ecosystems.

"Andrew you can't come." Neil says his tone shifting from pleading to serious. "It's only two people to a room at Evermore." he says.

"So? I can sleep in a room alone Neil. I'm not like Kevin where I freak out if I don't hear someone breathing in the same room as me while I sleep." Andrew scowls.

"Hey!" Kevin hisses.

"It's not safe for you to be alone in a room at Evermore!" Neil says and there's a wild look in his eyes as he says it.

"Why wouldn't it be safe for Andrew to room alone? He can take care of himself." Matt says re-entering into the conversation.

Neil opens his mouth and shuts it before looking at Andrew pleadingly.

Andrew nods once, "Roof." he says before turning and heading towards the stairs. Neil's shoulders droop in relief as he follows Andrew up leaving the rest of the foxes in their wake.

HEARTBREAKING - Another Hostage Killed: Kibbutz Be’eri says that one of its residents who was taken hostage in Gaza died while in captivity.

In a statement, the kibbutz said Ofra Keidar, 70, had died without detailing when or how.

“Her body is in the hands of Hamas. We demand her return along with the other hostages,” the statement added.

Keidar went for a walk early in the morning of October 7, and hadn’t been heard from since.

Her husband, Sami Keidar, was killed in the family’s safe room, and their daughter, Yael Keidar, who has a mild intellectual disability, hid in the safe room and emerged hours later, waiting until it was quiet outside. - ToI
