Initial Thoughts on Chenford in 6x07
All right... I'm feeling... a lot at the moment, so just sharing my initial reactions before seeing anyone else's. I'm sure my feelings will evolve. Also this turned into a GD essay and I'm sorry.
The Good
Grey acknowledging that Lucy was going through a lot ABOVE & BEYOND the break up. I just wish he'd mentioned the shooting, too. Lucy deserves to be more than her relationship with Tim and I need to actually see that in the future.
Lucy laying out 2 key things in her conversation with Grey - how easily Tim walked away and that he had no right to make that decision for her
Prior to the last scene (see The Ugly below), I thought Tim's interactions with the therapist were reasonably well done; if only therapy was that easy in real life lol
"You've always got a home with me" - I loved this final scene between Lucy and Tamara. I don't really have feelings either way about Tamara at this point, and this still hit me right in the heart.
Smitty's poll made me laugh, but also another solid indicator that these writers / producers do in fact really enjoy laughing at the expense of the fandom and shippers (which, whatever, I don't care that they do, I'd prob do the same; but it does irk me when people act like these writers should be worshipped because of all the things they "give" us)
The Tim
"I'm not depressed. I broke up with her."
"I was her TO." Not her friend, cuz god knows Tim has yet to deal with the fact that he started banging his former Rookie I suppose.
I dunno whether to put this in The Good or The Bad at this point; it depends on where they take it, so instead Tim gets a section all about why he's a dick.
To be clear, I do not like that Tim is a dick. But I actually do kind of like that it is very clear TO THE AUDIENCE that Tim is being kind of a dick. Do I still think people will bend over backwards to defend him? Of course they will.
From my perspective, I love Tim, I understand that he thinks he's doing the right thing, and has lots and lots of trauma. I've never seen Tim as a character that magically healed at some point between Seasons 1 & 5 (please see his storyline with his dad, his ongoing issues with UC work and unwillingness to confront or deal with them, his feelings about therapy historically, his inability to dump Ashley, etc. etc.). He's never been perfect and he doesn't need to be.
All of those things are true. None of those things give him a free pass to be kind of a dick. He still has to take accountability for how he treated Lucy (which, to be clear, was like sh*t).
The Bad
Lucy being petty AF with the invites to Tamara's dinner - let her be ANGRY, but give me villain Lucy over this dumb sh*t.
Lucy having no one other than Grey to talk to.
Others acting like Lucy is actually kind of pathetic (why do these writers love sh*tting on her so much? girl could not be down and kicked any harder at this point) -- Celina / Nolan and the double dumping crap, Lucy thinking Grey paid actors and him telling her she was out of her damn mind
The last interaction between Lucy and Tim. I am so angry for her. I needed to see that from her, but instead it felt kind of like her being dumped / a kicked puppy all over again. We got it, thanks. What's next? Lucy being incredibly happy with the hottest man on earth? I'm here for it tbh. Lucy plotting Tim's murder? Also here for it at this point. LOL.
The Ugly
I could not hate the implication of that final scene with Tim and the therapist and the door shutting more. There was ZERO reason they couldn't have had him show up during the day, and it actually disgusts me that they are pushing this line again, but especially with Tim. I am literally NEVER this dramatic, but in this case I really hope they did that to just get a reaction, because if anything were to actually happen between Tim and the therapist, I'd be 100% done with this ship and show as would a whole lot of the audience (I think). If I kept watching, it would only be to see Lucy be absurdly happy without Tim.

Splatoon 2 Callie Explained - (In my interpretation)
So in this blog post I wanna go over what is going on with Callie in Splatoon 2 because there's a lot of misinformation being spread around due to how unclear the events of Splatoon 2 were. I'm going to provide my own thoughts into how the Hypnoshades actually affect Callie and clear up what hypnosis actually does to a person, because a lot of people think that Callie was kidnapped and then mind controlled but its actually a lot more complicated than that. I've done a ton of painstaking research into this so if you would like some sources to what I'm saying then I'll be happy to provide it in the comments below when asked!

Okay so first off we need to establish one thing right off the bat, no, Callie was not kidnapped in the sense that she was snatched up by DJ Octavio and then brainwashed while she was kicking and screaming trying to stop him. The idea that Callie was snatched up randomly is simply not to true due to the fact that the OFFICAL Splatoon 2 relationship chart states that Callie was willing to hear out DJ Octavio and go with him. Why? Because if you look at Sunken Scroll 21 and 22 in Splatoon 2, it gives insight into Callie's declining mental health as she struggles to put on a happy face as she walks through a huge crowd of people, as well as the fact that she drew a squid with a sad face on it in Sunken Scroll 22 which is a very clear giveaway that she isn't doing well. Also keep in mind Marie was busy with her own solo thing too and Callie even states in the relationship chart that she's busy and lonely. It also explains why Callie doesn't experience any sort of trauma, turmoil or resentment after Splatoon 2 because well, she wasn't kidnapped and the shades were not forcibly put on her. (Also in Squid Sister Stories chapter 7 there's an artwork piece of Callie walking towards DJ Octavio's star mark so there's that too....)

Now I want to get into how hypnosis actually affects a person and what being hypnotized is actually like. Being hypnotized is described as having "heightened attention, increased focus and heightened suggestibility." You do not get put to sleep and become a puppet as popular media shows it to be, but instead you are hyper aware of what is going on around you. It's also said to be highly relaxing and can help with patients who struggle with anxiety and other mental issues, which might explain why Callie kept putting the shades back on, she enjoys wearing them to some degree as it helps her deal with the pain of being a celebrity, kind of like an addiction but unfortunately Splatoon 2 doesn't explore it at all and Marie (CALLIE'S OWN GOD DAMN COUSIN BTW!) jokes about it..... ugh...... at least she overcomes that addiction OFF SCREEN unfortunately....
Now that part about "suggestibility" is important to consider because contrary to popular belief, you don't lose awareness and memories while you are hypnotized and the person who is in charge of hypnotizing you, CANNOT force you to do anything that's against your wishes and you do NOT lose control of your behavior. Meaning that on some level Callie actually wanted to side with the Octarians because her life beforehand was shitty. The shades do not control Callie but instead put her in a hypnotic state that relaxes her and increases her attention and suggestibility.
For example, if DJ Octavio were to tell Callie to kill Marie instead of Agent 4, she would probably have a ton of hesitation about it and probably not follow his orders. Callie doesn't want to kill Marie, but she doesn't care or know about Agent 4 and that's why she had no problems with following DJ Octavio's suggestions. She also didn't try to attack Marie during the final boss when she was flying around and she just wants Marie to leave her alone because guess what, she's suffering from mental health issues!!!!!! And her relationship with Marie got worse and worse overtime as shown with the Squid Sister Stories.
If you were hypnotized and then the person responsible of your hypnotism handed you a weapon and told you to kill your best friend, you wouldn't do it because it's against your wishes (unless you secretly wanna kill your best friend for some reason....)

With all of this information laid out, it actually does make Splatoon 2's admittedly mid story a bit more interesting, it shows that Callie does have these dark traits and flaws about her, and the Hypnoshades bring out the worst in her. The angry, power hungry and harsh side to her, that was even built up from Splatoon 1. If you look at the dialogue from the Naughty vs. Nice, Early Bird vs. Night Owl and Callie vs. Marie Splatfests, you can see that Callie actually got upset at Marie multiple times due to her attitude.
It really does make Tidal Rush more emotional and powerful as a song if you really think about it. It's a clashing of two cousins whose relationship has been broken apart and Marie is desperately trying to reach out to Callie and fix what she has done. Maybe Marie blames herself for why Callie ran away and that's why she sounds like she's on the brink of tears in the song.... And it makes Spicey Calamari Inkantation more triumphant as a song too.
It does make me a bit angry that Nintendo doesn't wanna dive into these topics as well as Callie. She is flawed and has dark traits about her but, she doesn't try to change or grow from them in any significant or well written way, its like they forgot about it in Splatoon 3 which.... sucks man. I'm hoping we get a Side Order type deal with the Squid Sisters for Splatoon 4 and we dive deeper into the psyches of these girls, because what we have is really interesting but it lacks explanation and nuance and everyone keeps boiling it down to "welp Callie got kidnapped and mind controlled!" Which... its more complex than that... With Agent 3 and Marina it's for sure mind control and i would like to talk about them in a future blog but, with Callie? It's different and there's a lot of layers a lot of people tend to ignore because Splatoon 2's story is just... meh.

I'm going to answer in good faith, even though the tone you're using sounds like you're harboring anything but. The issue with AI art isn't specifically inherent to the tools used to produce it, because, ultimately, a tool is merely that: something devoid of will which, in the hands of a human, can produce a specific outcome. It's the human element that taints what we could otherwise enjoy for the unquestioningly fascinating topic that is AI art and, by extension, AI software as a whole.
Now, the problem isn't people, period, but the kind of people that are responsible for giving AI the bad rep it's been getting, along with the intent that goes into both the development of AI tools and the things produced by dint of said tools. I'm talking about the tech bros happily rubbing their hands, waiting to provide business moguls with a brand new means to commodify and mass-produce what artists stake their entire livelihoods upon, because when you have enough zeroes lined up in your bank account, your eyes are utterly blinded to the soul and personality that human beings put into their handiwork, and which a machine won't ever be able to reproduce no matter how much stolen art you feed it. Oh yeah, by the way, that's how AI art tools have been making the rounds: by chewing on thousands upon thousands of stolen pictures made by actual people so that they may learn how to ape someone's style and spit out absolutely soulless derivatives, while the original authors don't see a lick of recognition or monetary retribution for any of it. Do I need to tell you why stealing and parading someone else's art as your own is a terrible, vile thing to do?
But sure, you did ask me to refrain from "fearmongering, moralizing or bootlicking", which I guess I've already done. So since you'd rather I skipped straight to the point in a concise manner, lemme offer some quick examples of why the culture surrounding AI art has already developed into one of the most abysmally disappointing displays of how greed and an utter lack of human decency can ruin something objectively brimming with possibilities:
Less than a week after the sudden death of Korean artist Kim Jung-gi, someone trained an AI model to mimic his artstyle, having the audacity of asking for credits if anyone wished to use it. I sincerely hope I don't have to explain to you why this is a ghoulish example of the kind of tone-deafness sported by tech bros who buy wholesale into the AI art craze.
A piece of AI art was submitted to an art contest and won. The "artist"'s work amounted to little more than picking a series of prompts and letting the machine do the work. It's as much art as googling a smattering of terms and making a collage of pictures taken from Pinterest (and even then, you would have put more work into it than this person did). That they won at all says a whole damn lot about how abysmal the respect given to artists - real artists - nowadays is.
There are a multitude of people out there already selling prints of AI-generated art. I could link some of them here, but honestly, type "ai art prints" on a search engine and you'll get inundated by them. I've seen and personally know artists who have had to undersell their works because commissions were the only thin, frayed string they could hang on in hopes of making it through the week without fucking starving themselves, but here we are: any random asshole can now yell "MASSIVE BREASTS, THIN WAIST, COCKTAIL DRESS, HUGE BADONGAS" at a computer, let it mash together a trillion of other people's hard work, and print it for easy bucks that the actual authors of the basic ingredients of their insipid soup will never, ever see a dime of.
It really bothers me that you mentioned "no bootlicking". Whose fucking boots is this side of the debate supposedly tasting? That of the artists who post every day about how angry, sad and terrified they are by the prospects of what the development of AI art will entail for their livelihood and passion? What kind of gall did your mother birth you with that you have the spiteful spunk to type that word, when you've got shit like an artist who had their sketch stolen while they were drawing it on stream, then fed to an AI and posted by someone passing it off as their own art? How does that not ignite your indignation? "Bootlicking". Like anyone's tongues have been tasting leather but those of the same tech bro chodes who kept trying oh so hard to convince us NFTs were the future while ruining the environment to make the absolute stupidest point ever made in the history of humanity.

Interview from Sweden Rock Magazine 10/2023
Hi, hi. There is an interview with Tobias in SRM’s newest issue, but it’s in the subscribers only section, so I thought I’d translate/share since I guess not many people will be able to get their hands on it. It is about Prequelle and it’s part of SRM’s „200 best Swedish hard rock albums of all time” series. Prequelle placed #68. The other albums may have scored higher, but for now we don’t know the whole list. Either way, enjoy. Very insightful.

„Do you think that "Prequelle" is Ghost's worst album?” Now that’s an unusual opening question. Especially when the interview is about an album that Sweden Rock Magazine's writers and qualified Swedish hard rock musicians (including Tobias Forge) have voted as one of the 200 best Swedish hard rock albums of all time. The question wasn’t planned, but comes spontaneously, as a reaction to the first thing Tobias Forge says when we sit down on opposite sofas in the record company office. I'm here for a two-part interview, partly about the EP "Phantomime" (published in #6 2023), partly about "Prequelle". Neither record companies, artists, voters, nor even our writers who conduct interviews for this series of articles have any idea what placement an album has received. Interviews are often done well in advance and we simply don't want placements to leak and become public long before publication.
No Ghost album has ever been on the list before. The idea is actually to end the day with the "Prequelle" talk, but when Tobias Forge suddenly starts with a funny little comment that this album is probably the one that those who have voted think is Ghost's worst or least popular album, I just have to take the opportunity to ask the question: Do you think that "Prequelle" is Ghost's worst album?
No, absolutely not, he says and laughs. If I'm going to be completely pragmatic, I'd say: "How many songs do we actually play from that record?" There are songs that work damn well live and sit where they should. So it's a pretty strong album.
But is this what you are basing it on? "Prequelle" was released after Ghost had become really big so it can't be compared to "Opus Eponymous" and "Infestissumam" which you don't play many songs from. I mean, no matter what kind of record you had released when "Prequelle" came out, you would still have played many songs from it and they would have worked precisely because Ghost's songs nowadays are moulded more to the arena format.
I don't know how to answer that, it's difficult. If the album had been different, it would have been. If I'm going to talk somehow both artistically and practically, I know that for every record we have become exponentially bigger. "Prequelle" was definitely no exception, but it also took us a big step forward and upwards and we became bigger and broader. To the extent that when we introduce old songs in the live set, you notice that there are elements on albums one and two that make some songs more difficult to play. Not technically, we can play the songs, but they don't work in quite the same way as the later songs, which means that there is a slight favouritism.
I asked the original question about whether you think it's Ghost's worst album only because you directly said that this means it's the least popular one.
I'm just so full of myself I assumed all the other albums are also in the top 200, which may actually be incorrect. This might be the best album and the others aren't even there, haha.
It wasn't long after "Prequelle" was released that you were self-critical of the album in interviews, saying that it was too ballad-heavy and a bit too soft. I haven't noticed that before, you being so self-critical shortly after the release.
Yes, but I still feel that way. If, as an artist, I am only going to look at the work with the criticism that one can feel towards one's own work, I think that if things had been different or if I had more time, I might have wished that I had managed to get maybe two more hard songs. Maybe one more hard song would have fit on the album and another harder song might have phased out one of the ballads. Now five years after the album came out, I know that the two ballads ("Pro Memoria" and "Life Eternal"), which I may not think are bad, are one too many. But I know that many of the people who like the band like both of them, so it's kind of a useless argument.
Who sets the length of an album? Have you set a limit, that it can't be longer than this and have no more songs than that?
No, but it must fit on an LP disc and there is a physical limit. I think the absolute pain threshold is 46 minutes and that's 23 minutes on each side. Now maybe Mikkey Dee (co-owner of Spinroad Vinyl Factory) will raise his hand here: "But I can make it longer!" And it's maybe 48 minutes, I don't know, but I do know that when a disc starts getting so full that you start getting close to the sticker, it starts to sound bad. Especially nowadays, because recordings today are so very maximalist in scope. It's one thing if you record 60s music with drums, a guitar and bass where the sound is cleaner and finer or if you play acoustic stuff with just vocals. Bob Dylan records could have eight songs on each side and it worked all the way through. But this kind of fairly compact music doesn't work well. Not only am I a militant vinyl advocate, I think we should respect the fact that most artists don't manage to create more than 45 minutes of good music on a regular basis. A lot of famous double records are not that good. I don't think the Rolling Stones "Exile On Main St" is very good. It might as well have been on one disc. And if I'm actually going to turn it into something completely mundane, I'd say that I think it's irresponsible to sit and make records with twelve songs if it results in the record being 63 minutes long and you automatically have to make a double record. It's pretty wasteful.
When you said that it's irresponsible, I thought you were going to say that it's irresponsible to print a double vinyl because of the environmental destruction that it entails.
Of course, if we're going to be completely straightforward and not do anything that harms nature, we shouldn't even release any records, so I say this with reservation. But with that in mind and for the sake of art, I think more people should embrace the actual given format that has been the most prevalent in rock history. There is a reason why a film is usually one hour and 30 minutes. You can’t take any more. There's a certain dramaturgical structure and there’s a certain comfort in it. Then the CDs came along they screwed that up, and suddenly there weren't two sides anymore but it started one way and ended another. Now that the CD is no longer important and we've gone back to vinyl, creators should follow suit and start embracing the physical rules.
Are there songs that have been rounded off just because you thought „I have to round off here, because if I continue, it won't fit on the vinyl disc"?
We actually had that problem on the last album. „Watcher In The Sky” ended the A-side and the outro is much longer on the CD and digitally. Two minutes longer I think. Much, much, much longer. It's long, noisy and has all these dives. It's a very chaotic soundscape. You get the feeling that it goes on and on, and on the vinyl it's just the beginning of an outro and then it drops almost immediately. I think that was a huge mistake.
So the overall sound quality was more important than vinyl buyers getting everything? Because you could have pressed the vinyl and it would have fit, but you would have had to compromise the sound quality.
Yes, exactly. You can get the song to just keep going until the vinyl simply runs out. Then it just starts spinning in the middle, depending on what kind of record player you have. But the problem then, if you want to anticipate events at a creative stage, is that people today buy and listen to vinyl records and are sensitive. It's quite common for people to complain that the record is broken. I don't just mean our records, but people complain a lot about the presses. If you make ten songs, it's therefore stupid to have a too thick soundscape towards the end of song number five and song number ten. If you want to be really good and old school, that's where you put a piano ballad because it's an easier sound to handle so far into the record. This is what I think about when I make records. But clearly sometimes I miscalculate.
This must cut right through the record collector Tobias Forge's whole body and soul, that "Watcher In The Sky” is shortened by two minutes on the vinyl of all versions.
Well... I don't toss and turn and wake up in the middle of the night thinking about it anymore. But when it happened, I was livid. Luckily it was just an outro. It would have been worse if it had continued with some kind of narrative into the next song. Now I can't remember in my head how long "Prequelle" is, but if I'd had to go back in time and just re-construct it, the re-construction wouldn't have had much to do with the existing material, I would have just wanted to add a scene. And it's not a scene that's missing, it's just for the sake of balance. It became asymmetrical in a way that bothers me a bit.
You've talked about this before, but it was before "Prequelle" that you really started to talk a lot about how you were thinking about what kind of new songs might suit the live show. Can you get stuck in that mindset, thinking more about what songs are needed live right now rather than creating an album that will last 30 years?
Hmm... (long pause)... The reason I'm sitting here thinking is because I'm trying to come up with examples of other bands that I think might have gone through something similar. I’m looking for examples to the answer I'm about to formulate and that is that: yes, I think there comes a point in the career when most bands make a record because they simply feel they need to… Because what we're talking about is that when you go from playing in small smoky clubs in front of an already inveterate audience that already understands the perhaps a little more chewy expression, that experience can change if you start playing in front of a larger and especially a different type of audience. When a different type of audience comes and you play in a different format, you discover that this song doesn't work very well, it doesn't sound very good and it's difficult to get the sound right. Then there's usually a record or two or three during your career when this transition happens where you start filling in with songs that work better live. Look at Piece of mind", "Powerslave" and "Somewhere in time". There's a reason why Iron Maiden didn't play a lot of the first two albums there and then, because it was easier to play the new songs. You get to that point somewhere in your career and it's very difficult to say when it is - there's no given rule and there are artists who continue to release relevant records and have an amazing ability to release new records and just play the whole new record. Well, now Iron Maiden does that and tests their audience a little bit in that way, but then they will always compensate by doing like a "best of" set the following year so everything is forgiven. Now we're in the middle of the "Impera" period here and have a very strong set, but I'm starting to feel that now that I'm about to start writing a new album, it feels like it's not really on my agenda to write three more albums that will change the live setlist ten years ahead. I think we already have the blueprint for what is Ghost's setlist, especially if you include the entire catalogue. After a while, each new record you make becomes a little less important. It's really hard to know when that point comes, but the truth is that new records don't matter in the same way. Slayer didn't have to release "Divine Intervention”. They definitely didn't have to release "Diabolus In Musica". I didn't care about it and I just wanted to hear the old stuff. If they had just come up and played "Reign In Blood" I would have been soooo happy. And that's the way it is with most bands. Nobody would be sad if the Rolling Stones came up and didn't play anything from "Emotional Rescue". And that's just the way it is. In the future, I can see a scenario where there is probably a basis to possibly build up an alternative setlist. There are so many songs that we do not play and that I have nothing against - I love them too! But it would almost be easier to build up a completely alternative setlist and run a show with only the odd songs. There are so many songs now. There's no reason not to build on that. But when I want to make a new record, it's irresponsible for me not to consider that there might have to be some songs that are a bit more direct. But it doesn't hurt me if we have more songs that we don't play live. I don't know if this answers your question...
I would actually like to ask exactly the same question again, because I wonder if you yourself feel that you get stuck during the making of the record. You said that you would have liked to include another hard song because "Prequelle" doesn't have the balance that you would have liked to have in retrospect.
Exactly, but the explanation for that has more to do with my mental capacity there and then. I simply couldn't cope. I felt that I had probably maxed out… It was probably about as much as I could do that year. That's the simple explanation. To get another song that would have fit and that would have fulfilled this requirement that I now in retrospect would have wished I had, it would have required something that I did not have there and then. The only thing that could have made it easier is if I had more time. It is difficult to reason about it, you see.
I was in the studio for a few days during the recording and it's one of the few times in all these years that I've done interviews where someone has started crying during an interview. It was quite obvious that everything that had happened with the split of the band affected you.
Yes. Of course. It did.
Is "Prequelle" a difficult album to listen to for you? Can you sit and listen to it all the way through? 
Well, at the moment I have to do that from time to time, and listen to all the records, because we're just about to start rehearsing again and then I sometimes have to go back and just listen to the record to go: "Fuck, is that really how I sing?" Especially when we start rehearsing, I can be a bit like: "Damn, who changed this bit?” Then I usually sit down and it hits me: "Oh, it's me who has changed my song!" You simply do that over the years, you start singing it in a slightly different way. So sometimes I have to go back and listen, but it’s more practical. I don't think it's fun to listen them. I do it until they are finished. I listen over and over and over again and really try to listen with all the imaginary ears and all the imaginary perspectives you can have. "How would I have listened to this if I had heard it from this perspective?" Just to get as "objective" a perspective as I can until I'm satisfied, but then it's like „No, I don't want to hear this anymore". But I have to say that I think "Prequelle" is a very tolerable disc despite everything that interfered with the process. Therapeutically, it works quite well considering that we are still playing at least half of the album. For every artist there are songs that you want to play, and there are songs that you don’t want to play because they feel too personal. I don't feel that way about this one, it's more like: "Ah hell, they're part of the setlist and people like it and it sounds good. So that's what we're doing."
On a personal level, was Tom Dalgety the perfect producer for you, the way you were feeling at the time? Tom feels like the kindest, sweetest producer you can meet. He wasn't the kind of producer who pushed you very much, it was more of a nice atmosphere between you.
Yes, really, and it would have been different if Klas Åhlund, who is more confrontational, had been in the room. Now Klas and I are great mates, so it would certainly have been very therapeutic also, but it would have been a different process. If an artist comes in who is in such bad shape that they can't make a record, or a band where the main songwriter has just left them, then a Bob Ezrin goes in and says: "If you don't make the record, I'll make the record myself.” And he goes and makes Kiss "Destroyer" or Alice Cooper records. I'm not saying they didn't make them, just that you hear that Bob Ezrin made "Beth". It's a type of producer that's very different from a lot of other producers who maybe act a little bit more like buddies and cheerleaders and make the atmosphere good. Bob Ezrin doesn't care so much about the atmosphere in the room. Klas is somewhere in between, I would say. Given the condition I was in during "Prequelle", the result could probably have been different if Klas had come in. Ironically, there was actually talk of him doing it, but he didn't have the time and we'll never know how it would have turned out. I only know that it would have been different, but right there and then Tom was fantastic. I know that a lot of bands like to work with him because he is technically brilliant. He's really good at those typical sounds that people like: cool drums, guitar, bass, tone and clarity. He is also very "happy go lucky", a nice guy who sits and jokes all the time. Even if he has a bad day, it doesn't affect anyone else, which is convenient.
Let me compare it to when a writer contacts me after an interview and says "that was such a nice interview". For me, "nice" is not something positive in such a work situation and the result is often better when there is a little friction.
Mmm, and that is more Klas. There is more friction and more confrontation. And I was much better equipped for that at "Meliora" and later at "Impera". I felt better and was simply stronger. There wasn't the same survival instinct as on "Prequelle". If I think back, not about how the album turned out and how I have to live with it, but if I think back to the situation I was in, I was very anxious all the time. Even though I'm happy with the result, I wouldn't want to go through the recording again, even though Tom was great. Because it's hard to work when you're under attack. I realised that now when I made "Impera", when it was no longer like that. You are much more comfortable, it doesn't feel the same, you are more mature, you make better decisions, you are more controlled or dare to be uncontrolled. When things are this serious, you can end up in a freeze mode. Maybe that's also why there wasn't another song. The song that I miss doesn't exist because I simply squeezed out everything I had. If I had been in a different emotional state, I might have been more comfortable working out something at the last second from bits and pieces. But I felt that I really just wanted to get it done, deliver it, get back out on tour and start over again.
When you described being more mature during "Impera" you sounded like a 70-year-old, kind of like all the Aerosmith-like bands that have been fighting all their lives and now that they're in their 70s they say "we're soooo mature,” haha.
I think with all artists, especially when they're required to work in a group, there are many recordings that have been a collision with a wall because you're expected to function in a context all the time, whatever and whenever. But you do change and from one year to a few years down the line there can be a huge difference in a person's drive, hunger and priorities in life. Whether you have the same band structure as I do or whether you play in Metallica, people come in one state and they may end up in another, because you have different priorities at different times. It's unfortunately against the whole rock myth. I think that's the biggest problem for bands and businesses, that you always have this idea that if you just get to a certain stage - not just monetarily or career-wise, but you get to a certain stage of fun - then we've reached the status quo. But that is never the case! Never! There’s always something. Even in the best moments when everything is working, the band is awesome, everyone is working well, the crew is awesome, everyone is laughing, it's just a party all the time mentally, you have the world's best tour manager, everything is flowing and the tickets are selling, there will always be someone who doesn't like it and then has to break away and want to do their thing because it's no longer fun. It's usually somewhere in the lead-up to a stage where it's interesting and then once you've achieved it, it all becomes a bit boring. Just like in a relationship some people may eventually think, "well, that's a bit boring, I have to go out and do something else".
Since I was in the studio when you were laying down guitars on "Witch Image", my heart beats a little extra for that song and I thought it would be a great live song, but you've barely played it (at the time of writing it's Ghost's forty-fourth most played song live).
We did it during the "Prequelle" tour, or "A Pale Tour Named Death" as it was called. Then we did quite a few "an evening with" concerts, for better or worse. The advantage was that if you were a big fan of the band we actually played a lot of songs and actually a lot of the first albums, like "Idolatrine" - or "Witch Image". We did a set, a break and then a whole other set. That was a bit of a taste of what I was talking about earlier: doing a slightly larger set and then a slightly smaller one. You just shouldn't do it on the same night because it gets a bit stale. We played for two hours and 30 minutes or something and that wasn’t a good idea, haha. At least we did "Witch Image", but it has fallen behind a bit and it doesn't mean that we will never play it again, just that we don't do it right now. What I've been happy about is that there has been a feeling for the records that we've made recently, "Prequelle" and "Impera", that people still want to hear the new stuff. We haven't gotten to that stage that I talked about earlier when it doesn't matter anymore. Then it's very fun to try to find a new way to perform the songs, not technically, but suddenly a song like "Witch Image" might fulfill a very nice purpose between a completely new song and another song.
Let me speculate: in 30 years, I think "Rats" will be considered the great hard rock song, "Dance Macabre" the great hit and "Life Eternal" the great ballad. What do you think? Will this in the future be seen as the three big songs of the album?
Yes, that makes sense, I think. I understand that an instrumental song automatically ends up in the wake of a "best of" collection, in the sense that you do one in 30 years. I realise it's not a hit but the instrumental "Miasma" is a big part of our live show. It's strong and feels like such a keeper. Now we don't play "Life Eternal" very often actually, but it was very well received. For some reason people like to get married to it, I don’t know why, hehe. It's nice but it's also a bit like U2’s „I still haven't found what I'm looking for" and you don't use that one at a wedding. But people like it and I guess interpret it differently to me. It’s also a song that I don't think is fun to play live.
And why not?
Because I find it hard to play ballads. Physically, they don't feel the same as rock songs. I miss the "dunka dunka". Now everyone who plays music today knows what I mean - sorry, readers who don't play music - and it's that there's a small problem with having in-ear monitors. This means that you have to reach a certain frequency of beats in order to feel the music, unlike when you played at clubs with only a guitar amp behind you. You felt every single note you made and it just went through your body. Nowadays, I think it's sometimes hard when you play slow songs, because you have to trust that it sounds good, whereas when you play a rock song, you feel that it sounds good.
Does it also apply to "He Is” which is such a huge ballad, not least live?
Well, just the intro and then it gets going quite quickly and suddenly becomes a hard and rather fast-paced song. The classic ballad concept has always been that you play so-called edge beats to make it sound soft, while "He Is” is actually a rather hard-played song considering that it is a ballad. Once the drums come in – boom, boom – it's got AC/DC bite to it. It has a rock feel to it that "Life Eternal" doesn't really have. As I said, I don't think that "Life Eternal" is a lot of fun to perform, but that doesn't mean that it isn't quite good to listen to. It’s just that when I play "Dance Macabre" or "Mummy Dust" I feel that I can express myself physically more in line with what the text says and what it means.

I just saw a post asking which Link would make the best villain and....
It's Time guys
Like, I love the man, but let's be real; he's a second from snapping and committing atrocities.
Twilight is so thoroughly traumatized by the vision the spirits gave him and Fi's judgement of him that he literally can't stand messing with magic that isn't actually his own or connected to him. And while, sure, he doesn't need magic to be a villain, let's be real, it'd take something magical to force him to turn his back on everything he's ever fought for.
Similarly, Wild fought and died for his kingdom, and his people. There is nothing and no one worse than what he's already seen that could possibly make him turn his back on it all and throw his work down the drain just to destroy everything he'd built himself.
Legend is the same. he's been doing this far too long to ditch now. Granted, he's a grump, but if you look at his games, you see he's a highly empathetic and caring person. Unlike the others, who were tasked with saving the world by a mentor or friend, or had to go and save a friend or family member, or who where sworn to duty; Legend was literally some kid who was asked by an utter stranger to help, and did. Six times. No way someone like that is going to go and destroy everything.
And Wind! Wind is a moral guy, with a good heart. he set out for personal reasons and saw in his journey that there were bigger fish to fry, and he fried them. He had no reason to take it on, no call of the goddess, no responsibility, no reason for him, a child, to go and save the world as well as his sister, but he did it anyway.
Sky and Warriors are simply too devout. Warriors to the kingdom and it's people; with everything he suffered for them, you can't tell me the man isn't dedicated to serving his country. And Sky is loyal to Sun, who is Hylia, so he literally would never go against her. And by the law of the Zelda universe, villains are those who go against Hylia and Hyrule.
Four is an iffy one. Most people might say "but Vio was a villain!" but let's be real; if you read the manga, you know Vio was bluffing all along. If Vio, part of Four, didn't bow even under Shadow's influence, and Vaati's, and Ganon's, then again; who and what would drive this man to become a villain? Granted, the persuing of dark magic to bring back his lost friend could be argued, but is more likely to lead to his corruption than his attempting to take over Hyrule and kill innocents.
Hyrule is tough, since we have very little to work off of in cannon, but come on, even if Hyrule did turn to evil, he wouldn't exactly be able to do much. Hyrule's already in ruins in his time, and the monsters wouldn't hear of working beside him. He'd have everyone against him, and even if he does hold the triforce in it's entirety and thus could do all sorts of horrible things, he has neither motivation nor reason to turn away to becoming a villain.
Time though......
Time has watched the world burn and all his efforts be turned around and lost. He has lost everything so many times, usually with no reward or reason. In the end, Time, though a good man, cares more for the individual than the country. He cares about his wife and his boys, and based off the scars, we can only guess what lengths he's already gone to in order to accomplish his goals.
Time, if faced with the right issue, has every risk of dropping from defender to threat. Hyrule be damned, this man cares for his wife, his kids, his home, and if you threaten that, no matter who you are, he will go after you. He's one second away from going after Hylia and all she has done to him and those around him. He detests the Blade of Evil's bane, the symbol of Hylia's blessing. He borders every moment on the precipice of taking power beyond mortals to fulfill his own wishes, even if it is to help those he loves.
Put Malon in danger, heck, one of the boys, and Time won't let something silly like morals stop him from doing whatever it takes to protect what little that is still his and hasn't already been taken from him. He will fight tooth and nail not to lose anything else, and he won't let even the goddesses stop him.l

you knew it was wrong, and you knew your fantasies wouldn’t actually come to life, so why did it feel so thrilling? you look at yourself in the mirror as you’re smoothing over your clothes, exhaling shakily to mentally prepare yourself to meet up with your tutor. you seriously need to stop getting your hopes up.
you were an A+ student who never even had to study, acing your tests without any real effort. all you had to do was pay attention during class and you had nothing to worry about. so why exactly did you need a tutor? well… you see.. your teacher was temporarily gone for god knows what reasons, and you’ve gotten a substitute teacher for the time being.. and your grades dropped drastically, not because you suddenly stopped caring about school or because you missed classes, no no, quite the opposite.
the problem was your insanely attractive substitute teacher. Mrs. Lee… she was so tall.. so handsome.. so pretty.. and so strict. the second your eyes landed on her you knew you were done for. you felt so guilty for the emotions you yourself couldn’t even control, although you haven’t done or said anything wrong (yet). so why exactly were you feeling this way? oh right, having zero experience and drooling over your teacher who’s 10+ years older than you is probably a good enough reason. you and your twisted mind.
you had no issues in any other classes, being the nerd you were you quite enjoyed them. but as soon as the bell rang and she walked into the room, all your focus was on tall figure. oh how you wish she would tower over you- she was speaking but you couldn’t hear a word she was saying, just her voice. you didn’t see the notes she wrote on the blackboard, letters blending into the background. all you saw was her hands. as if you suddenly forgot to read, the veins on her large hands being much more interesting to study. the length of her fingers and the way she moved them had your mind flipping a switch. every word that left her mouth just flew past your head and all you could do was just stare with a blank stare, more like blank brain.. no thoughts head empty, just Mrs. Lee and your stupid imagination.
you didn’t see an issue in this, it was almost like a new hobby. patiently waiting for her class at the end of the day as if it were some kind of a reward. spacing out with the image of her right in front of you. damn, talk about inspiration. the issue was… you weren’t as smooth with concealing your so called innocent crush on her, which you failed to realize.
with the way you gulped each time she called your name or the way your cheeks turned red when she found out you’re spacing out and not playing attention once again, or the way your eyes would linger on her as she walked across the room, never leaving her for a second, as if they were glued to her.
it was all a bit too obvious to her. at first she found it funny, she was used to both men and women falling for her. however she wouldn’t have expected someone much younger then her to be so infatuated with her, especially to such a high level you were displaying, thinking you’re hiding it so well. reality was rather different. and quite frankly entertaining for her. especially you being her student, making it even more entertaining for her to watch.
you would of assumed she’d be married by now, there’s no doubt people are chasing her left and right, but she was actually not interested in settling down just yet, deciding to focus on her career and hope she finally meets the right person along the way. someone who she could be herself with… as in someone she could have complet control over. bada craved dominance, and while some people were into that, they were often caught off by the level of it that she desired. she wanted all of it. no, she needed all of it. it made her giggle, thinking your actions are cute and nothing more, she was your teacher for now after all. it’s not like you were underage or anything, but in her view it was simply unprofessional and inappropriate. not you basically eye fucking her every class she taught, but the fact that she enjoyed it much more then she wanted to admit.
she wanted to mess with you a little, play with your little brain and have some light hearted fun. not in a way where she uses you for a night and goes back to teaching you, she wouldn’t have the heart to do that, right? she just wanted to find a way that would entertain her for the time being. she loved teasing you and seeing your reactions, she found it cute how flustered she could get you just by pointing out your own behaviour. a part of her really did feel bad seeing your grades drop more and more, and it being indirectly her fault. if she wasn’t so dedicated to her work and didn’t take her time to learn all about the students she will be teaching temporarily, she wouldn’t have known you’re actually one of the top students. which is also why she was keeping an eye on you from the beginning, confusion clouding mind seeing you not match the expectations she’d set for you prior teaching you.
was there a mistake in the system? were those grades she’d seen not yours, perhaps someone with the same name as you…? she wondered after her first time teaching your class. the second time she’d notice you fidgeting and having trouble speaking when she asked you a question. hmm.. it must be anxiety, she thought. you did seem very nervous about her being your new teacher, maybe you were just this shy because you don’t know her, that’s all.
she realised all her theories were proven wrong as you spent the following days with flushed cheeks, eyes blinking up at her in concentration. looking away quickly as soon as she looked your way.
she thought she was partly responsible for this, so she was kind enough to offer you some tutoring sessions after school. when she told you to stay behind after dismissal and proposed the offer you panicked, just then realising how distracted you must of been during class for this to turn this bad.
you frantically shook your head not wanting to accept because 1) you didn’t want to be an inconvenience and waste her time due to failing and it being totally your fault. (the part you told her)
and 2) you’d definitely pass away being in the same room as her… all alone… in her house.. being much closer to you.. with her trying to explain to you what she said in class 200 times while you just drooled over her, as if it’s not going to be even harder for you to focus. ( that’s the part you didn’t tell her)
cat got your tongue when she assured you that it’s all okay and she would be more then happy to give you private lessons, and proud to see you do better. you swallowed hard as she asked for your number, arranging a meeting for the weekend, patting your head before she walked out telling you she can’t wait.
oh you’re screwed, so damn screwed.

Sorry this took long for me to get to but it’s here finally! 🦦
Jason knew something was off the moment he noticed the absence of light within your eyes that he loved so much whenever you caught sight of yourself within the mirror, even if it was from the corner of your eyes it was still enough to sour your overall mood for the week. And it was because of this that Jason definitively decided that he needed to step in and help you out of the rut that you seemed to have gotten yourself in; seeing as how you never once hesitated to help him out of his own share of ruts- even the ones where he didn’t think himself deserving of being saved- Jason wanted to pay that kindness you’ve shone him forward and be there for you the way you’ve been there for him.
That and the fact that he doesn’t want his favourite person to have ever walked into his life to ever feel alone in their most trying times, especially when he knew damn well he could’ve done something to help solve the issue rather then stand at the sidelines and make it even worse.
So one day Jason found himself sat by your side on the bed after catching you looking at yourself dishearteningly through the mirror in shame, disappointment and disapproval one too many times. ‘What’s wrong sweetheart? Whose asses do I have to kick for making my baby upset hmm?’ Jason asked and you forced yourself to smile at his concern but didn’t think it was worth the hassle he’d be willing to put himself through for.
‘No one has said anything Jason, so there’ll be no ass you’ll be kicking I’m afraid, besides it’s stupid and I’ll get over it…or at least I thought I would by now.’ You directed the last part at yourself, muttering it under your breath, but all it did was raise Jason’s concern as he reached over and held your hand in his, tracing calming patterns into your skin with his thumb. ‘Come on angel,’ he softly encouraged, squeezing your hand, ‘there’s nothing that you coup ever say that would make me think of you any differently than I do now.’
You looked at him with tearful eyes that made him want to tear his heart out of his chest for how much it hurt him in seeing you in any sort of pain or distress. ‘Even with all my…fat and my stretch marks that I wish would go away every night when I’m constantly reminded on a daily basis that I’ll never be the vision of beauty? My my acne/acne scarring that I can never be rid of and are now a permanent extension of me?’ You asked, though the further you sent the more your vision blurred with your tears, making it harder for you to make out his expression, which didn’t help with your unsavoury thoughts that made you compare to yourself to the likes of your good friend Artemis; who told you on multiple occasions that Jason wasn’t a shallow man and that if he could, he’d choose you in every possible universe.
‘Yes.’ Jason replied seriously and without an ounce of hesitation. ‘Even with the things that you view as an insecurity because to me they’re what make you, well you.’ He then gets off the bed -hands still intertwined- as he knelt on his knees in front of you, smiling. ‘You’re still my y/n. My beautiful,’ he plants a kiss to your hand, ‘handsome,’ another kiss to the inside of your wrist, ‘gorgeous and ridiculous sweet y/n.’ He brings his barrage of kisses to an end by having the last two on your thighs where he knew you had stretch marks, looking up at you with kind and caring eyes that he only ever gives you and only you. ‘You only blessed me by giving me more of you to love up on and how could I resist such a beautiful blessing such as that?’
‘You mean that? Truly?’ You asked.
‘With my whole heart, I meant every word.’ Jason replied, now looking at you with complete and utter devotion to you, his deity.
‘I don’t disgust you? Not once?’ You asked again, still in denial that a man such as him existed.
‘I’d make constellations of your acne/scarring with my fingers if it brings you happiness.’ Jason began. ‘I’d memorise the way your plush and plump body cushions against me perfectly as though you were made to be in my arms and my arms only.’ He then let’s go of your hand to hold both of your thighs in his big, strong hands as he began to squeeze and stroke them at his own pace. ‘I’d kiss each and every one of your stretch marks while whispering my thanks to them for making you even more beautiful than I’d ever thought possible.’ He concludes, kissing your thighs once more in appreciation of your creation.
‘Jason…’ you were crying but for an entirely different reason as you watched on in fascination as he showed love towards the parts of yourself that you felt most embarrassed and ashamed about your entire life, Almost as though it came easy as breathing to him, like loving you was easy as breathing to him.
‘Yes sweetheart.’ He said against your thigh, pressing a loving kiss into it.
‘Thank you for loving me when I couldn’t love myself.’ You said, reaching your hands to hold his face in your hands as you sweetly kissed him on the lips and feeling him smile into the kiss and still feeling his hands kneading the flesh of your thighs but instead of feeling ashamed, you felt loved. You felt happy that you’ve got a man like Jason who was addicted to you and every inch of your body as though he’ll never get a chance to worship your body again.
‘No need to thank me sweetheart, I’d gladly love on you in this life and the next because if I’m certain that I’m made for one thing, it’s loving you unconditionally and wholeheartedly.’ Jason replied, pulling away. ‘Now how about we get some take out and just spend the evening here, just the two of us?’ You smiled and pecked his nose, laughing at the way he scrunched up his nose. ‘That sounds perfect Jay, but then again anything with you is perfect.’
‘So just like you then?’ Jason smirked at you and you decided to shut him up with another kiss on the lips, unable to stop the smile on your lips from growing as you enjoyed your little piece of heaven with him.

You sit in the waiting room in the pristine office, your fingers clutching your bag to stop your hands from shaking. 
You're so nervous. Job interviews always seem to do damage to your nerves and confidence, even though you’ve done them many, many times before. 
‘This is no different,’ you think to yourself, practicing the mantra you’ve had in your head for a week preparing for this interview. ‘It’s just an interview. He’s just a person. You are confident, intelligent, and a boss ass bitch, whether you get this job or not.’ 
But fuck, you hope you get it. It’s a really good position: a secretarial/assistant position for Kento Nanami, the CEO of Nanami Enterprises which specializes in human resources, charitable work, and citywide issues. Mr. Nanami is well-known throughout Japan as an entrepreneur and a very generous man, rich in intelligence and skills as well as money.
Seriously, the man is loaded. He is in every magazine, including Forbes, and has traveled all across the world closing business deals. 
He is also extremely handsome. You’ve seen his face many times in the media with his sharp jaw, intense eyes, and neatly-cut blonde hair. You’ve heard he is taller in person (and bigger at that). You’ve seen him at press conferences and dinner parties, photographed in his expensive suits or even coming off of a private jet in his sunglasses, a permanent, stoic expression on his face. You’ve wondered many times what he looks like out of his designer clothes as any woman would to an attractive man. 
But now that you’re about to meet him, all of this hits you much differently. Now that you’re sitting here in his pristine waiting room with its coffee machines and packaged snacks for clients and hearing the buzz of work activity–phones ringing; heels clicking across the floor, etc.–makes your heart scatter in your chest. Your palms sweat so frequently that you have to wipe them off on your pencil skirt every five minutes. You don’t know if you can handle any of this. 
And you hate feeling this way. You know how good you are with job interviews. Every one you’ve sat for after applying, you’ve received. You take pride in the way you’re perceived, especially when it comes to appearance. Though your interview is at 10am today, you woke up at damn near the ass crack of dawn and primped yourself. For anyone unaware, A. Rasen is also the creator of GremoryLand and Counting Sheep. Rasen themselves are just as unsure considering this has never really happened to them before. I think it speaks volumes as to how little oversight there is in the editing process, as despite Manny having three editors, not a single person alerted A. Rasen to these content guideline violations until after the series was posted and well underway. It's not like there's a whole pre-production period where they could have done this review process that would likely involve shitloads of rewriting and redrawing /s

There's so much cherrypicking of the ToS happening between editors, not just in the Originals section, but in the Canvas section also, and it leads to a moderation process that basically boils down to "better hope you didn't get the stickler for your editor". I understand that WT has to have content guidelines in place for the sake of keeping their app accessible (as Apple and Google can and will restrict the WT app on their respective app stores if they feel content guidelines are being broken, and that includes content depicting blood, gore, nudity, sex, etc.) but again, it's the fact that this isn't A. Rasen's first rodeo on the platform but it's only apparently now an issue when the content moderation has been more lax in practice than ever.
So yeah, it sucks, and I wish only the best to A. Rasen as they try to sort this shit out with WT. Please go read their work and show your support! (*CW for blood/gore, violence, jumpscares, these are horror stories!)

After a long, shit, god-awful day, the only thing the serpentine imp hybrid man wanted was to watch his movies and snooze up to a lover’s embrace.
However, he got the polar opposite.
It’s almost comedic (or maybe even karma) for how badly it went.
To deal with people who sucked up to blue-bloods was a pain and to lose to them? Even more so, he also had received burns from a explosion’s fire, it may turn into scars- but he had to think about the present issue of the burns now.
You took care of him when he got home as well, you wrapped up his wounds, burns or not. He needed to rest… So now he was resting against your thigh, his shoulders relaxed and body stopped tensing up as soon as he was able to bask in the homey-comfort feeling. A feeling anyone could happily indulge in at times…
Striker watched as your tail move back and fourth like a dog’s tail in glee. It was adorable he thought, passing it off until it brewed. He then realized why was your tail so- feathery?
It never was like that before he recalled.
He grabbed a hold of it gently, you chuckled at the odd sensation not seeing his expression and assuming he was playing around.
“…What is it hun?” You asked, your voice tensing as he stared in silence.
He held your tail right by the tip of it, then showed it back to you. The feathers on your tail being the crime in his eyes.
“The fuck is this?” He angrily scowled, his eyebrows furrowed and his tail rattling like a snakes.
“I-… I can explain-“ you began, “i-it was for a costume.” You tried to lie, which did not go over too well with him. The nerves in your voice and the pounding of your heart intensified as you even continued.
It made Striker’s blood boil, he could see right through your lie clear as day. As an assassin he has had to charm his way through many, and see through falsehoods many times.
As for you, you were one of the people he thought he never had to.
“Quit lyin’- what are you? What the fuck is this!” He snarled, teeth barred.
You looked for words to say as you pulled your tail from his grasp. He winced as he got up, panting as his body was spent from fighting and now healing. You tried reaching out for him to help him out but all he did was back away from the touch, a feeling of betrayal and being lied to clouded his vision.
A stinging sensation was felt in your heart as he refused your touch, it took so long for him to even let you, even more so to lean into it.
But it seems it’s impossible to imagine it happening again.
You only never told anyone the Goetia side of you because you could never fit in with either crowd with both of you, only half of you.
The lower-class entirely, mostly imps, or hellhounds would dislike you for being Goetia. Then Goetia would never even dare to look at you because of your ‘lesser blood’ they called it. You never had a place, and so… You kept it to yourself.
“I- I wanted to tell you- for so long but-“ you started but he cut you off, “but what?” He hissed.
“You never told me! That I’ve been snoozin’ with a damn half-blueblood this entire damn fuckin’ time!”
“It’s not like that, I don’t even have contacts with my parents! You know this!” You exclaimed trying to have him hear you. You heard him, clearly, the strain and dryness of his voice was present.
“Nah- you didn’t even fuckin’ tell me either?! Ya’ kno’ the shit I’ve done for ya? The bleedin’ the killin’? Nun’ of it?” His tail accidentally knocked down a framed photo of the two of you making a loud clunking noise.
The two of you paused as you looked at what he knocked down, mutually both of you felt sadness but with different feelings.
You felt anxiety creaking up your spine, and he felt anger, betrayal, all over his blackened soul.
“Striker, please-“ he looked up at you as you spoke, “I don’t- I don’t belong anywhere because of this- it’s not that, I don’t trust you- I’m scared you’ll go.”
Striker’s breath hitched, his heartbeat slowing… You could see he was starting to think but he avoided eye contact with you.
“Please- let’s, let’s talk about this-“ you tried reaching out for him, again, hoping for a different result only for him to do the same once again.
He backed away, shaking his head as he winced, starting to painfully walk away.
“…Is that it? Are you really going to fucking leave!? Just like that?! Just because of what I am?” You sniffled, tears began to swell. Sadness and fury poured into those tears.
He paused, he perked up as he listened to your words.
“After everything we’ve been through together? I thought I was your ride or die! The one person I could go to about- fucking anything, we’ve killed together, I’ve killed for you and you for me! And this is what you want to leave me over?!”
He blinked. “… Ride or die’s ain’t supposed to hide shit from each other-“
“You fucking hide from me, constantly, where the fuck where you today? Huh? Messing with royals who might come after you!”
He huffed, his pride refused to admit his wrongdoing, but his body language spoke it. His tail hanged low as well as his neck and shoulders.
“I know what I’m doin’, I’ve been doin’ this shit long before I had ya’!” He turned back to you.
“But now you do, you wanna risk it all? All of it?” You gritted your teeth, your body tensing up with your fists clenching.
“Risk your life for pride? And now- us? Because of something you should understand I cannot control.. You’re a hybrid just like me, you should understand!”
“I don’t need to understand shit, because I’m above all this- I’m above-“
“Us? You’re above us? That’s what you’re trying to say?” You put hands upon your hips, your eyebrows furrowed and tears began to fall, down your face, and even dripping onto your shirt.
He scowled. “Ya’- I fuckin’ am! Because I ain’t gonna be coddled by a half-ling blue blood-!” He perked up angrily once more, “talking to me as if you’re my fuckin’ ma? Hah! Fuck no! I ain’t!”
Striker stormed out leaving you stunned.
The words he spoke stabbed your heart like a thousand daggers in the back.
It broke you down, brought you on your knees to only cry. You turned to the photo that was knocked down, and sobbed relentlessly.
All over a damn feather.

Striker on the other hand, realized he’s just like the person he was spiting for so long… If he was better than him, this wouldn’t have happened.
He wouldn’t have brought down the one person who pulled him up.
The one person he wanted to marry.

🌠 I have a fun story. Some of this was filled in by a relative of mine who works upper management.
Where I work, we have this employee. She's a bit of a jack-of-all trades but seems to choose to stay on the bottom rungs, since she'd honestly not thrive in higher management positions. I'll call her X. X is pretty introverted, quiet, kind and above all, willing to help.
Our door greeter has some hang-ups and inconsideration they won't work through, so they call out very often. (Boss won't fire them because they are elderly.) X was always the first to offer to take their shift. Did our forklift guys need a spotter? (The guy they used to have walked out one day.) X is on it, no questions asked. Does a customer need an employee to help them shop? X is there! X has covered more of my shifts than I can count, due to personal life issues.
A lifesaver and a sweetheart. We all were inspired by her and also branched out to help, sometimes.
Despite how nice she is, X takes bullshit form no one. One day, one of our main supervisors got a position changed and some asshole took their place. This asshole seemed to hinge a lot of their projected success on what they perceived as X's submissiveness. Well, X felt disrespected by every interaction, it seemed. She always denied this jerk.
He'd demand X do something. "I'm sorry, that is not within my responsibilities as a cashier. If my responsibilities have changed, I would like to see a notarized and documented form that bares my signature before I take on other tasks." Honestly, to-a-T, brutal compliance of business shenanigans.
Well, Jerk got mad she stopped being so complicit and, one day, confronted her on her "behavior." Other employees, myself included, recorded him yelling at her while she looked unmoved and unbothered. When he was done, he shouted. "You do all of this for anyone else! Why not me?"
X was quiet for a long time. "You didn't treat me like a person when you bullied me in high school, and you still don't now. So why would I?"
Y'ALL, I WAS FLOORED. He was her high school bully and her revenge was not doing anything beyond her contracted job to help him, KNOWING HIS SUCCESS HINGED HEAVILY ON HER.
He was about to snap again, but saw we had cameras pointed at him. His face was red, he looked like he realized something.
"I don't remember that."
"Yes you do. Leave me alone, please."
Then, he didn't ask her to do anything. When he's wasn't scheduled, she goes above and beyond. But X didn't do a god damn thing for Jerk. He couldn't look her in the eye anymore. And honestly, good for her. Our store will never fire her; she knows too much and is too helpful, and she's the highest paid cashier after all her raises and such.
His "projected" productivity suffered since all of his promotional promises hinged on the cashiers being willing to help him with tasks outside of their job. We'd help if X did. She stopped so we did, too. One day he stopped showing up as our supervisor. Our new supervisor told us he'd taken another position.
X is a badass.
She eventually quit and took up her true passion, which was coding and programming. I still text her and we play Balder's Gate together. I love her to bits. She even said she'd teach me some code stuff and see if I can't work with her and her company... Wish me luck!

i haven’t had much free time to play around with it but i can definitely give my opinion on what i’ve experienced so far!
world:
disappointing tbh. for a world that’s finally not super american, they could’ve done a lot more. it feels lazy.
some of the debug buildings are cool, and the world IS pretty but it just gets meh after a while. it doesn’t matter how good something looks, if there’s nothing to do what’s the point? BORINGGG. this is the case with pretty much any new world atp. lots of set dressing but not much to actually do.
i’m so sick of the new worlds having debug plants mostly from older packs like just give me more damn plants PLEASE.
hardly any npcs walk around so it feels very dead. the night market had like 1 sim show up. half of the stalls are decorative.
too many rabbit holes but the beaches are nice.
waaaaay too fucking small. the fact that there’s only 2 neighborhoods and the biggest lot is a 40x30??? bitch what???? for an ep that’s meant to have a lot of apartments… u can’t really build big places in the new world at all. yeah, the new lot type works in any world BUT it’s still an odd choice to me.
build/buy:
LOVE that there’s so many gross/dirty things. i really like the nasty wall decals and the fact that most objects have swatches that look old and used.
super happy about the functional water heaters, radiators, and electrical things.
build/buy doesn’t feel super cohesive to me.
cas:
haven’t gone through all the items much. don’t have much to say about it yet.
wish there was an aspiration to be a slumlord
gameplay:
i’m obsessed with the chance of infestations 🪳🩷 and i really like the mold lot trait. there’s a lot of references to tlou and the mold spreads very quick and gets super chaotic, but i enjoy it.
the nosy trait is fun and the cringe trait is goofy.
bugs/glitches:
a fucking NIGHTMARE for me. i’ve wanted to cry and rip my hair out several times.
there are ways around this, but residential rentals can make everything u placed off lot with tool mod get deleted. i had to go back to an older version of my save to get them back. i’m in the middle of updating my save for christmas and want to get it out asap and this set me back a lot so i’m PISSED!!!!
lot and unit names don’t stick. they revert back to a generic name generated by the game. same thing with editing the rent $ amount and lease days. they all get set back to a game generated one. one of my units also changed to 4 million simoleons and another one became a -negative number and trying to change it back fixed nothing.
the new lot type lags so fucking much it’s basically unplayable and u have to switch back to the regular residential, build and decorate whatever, and then switch to residential rental to set which rooms u want to be units as a last step. some people said repairing the game fixes the lag, but it didn’t fix anything for me. only the new lot type is lagging and freezing for me.
the new landlord sim i made didn’t make any money at all? he owns multiple properties.
overall:
i’m glad there’s south east asian representation but ea could’ve done a lot more.
i would never pay $40 for an expansion pack that feels like a game pack and has a lot of issues. please 🏴‍☠️ that shit if u get it.
if ur mostly just a builder or really want apartments and a new world, get it now. if u don’t, ur not missing that much imo. u can always wait for a sale or for bug fixes (if we ever get any lmfao look at mws and dine out)

Aww thank you!! It was a sudden, random thought I had last morning and I loved it <3 And ofc I can!! I'm loving this AU, ngl.
I think Luffy isn't used to sneaking in people. Like, there's no need to do so. He often invites the whole group over (East Blue Crew + Vivi in this case, btw) and there are never any issues. In fact, Ace and Sabo like his friends. Sanji cooks for them (thank you, because most of the time they live thanks to his leftovers), Zoro isn't as loud as the others (unless he's arguing with somebody), Usopp is actually a really funny guy to be around, Nami keeps Luffy in the right path (they always thank her for taking care of him) and Vivi is the most surprising of them all but only Luffy would befriend a rich girl (Sabo didn't seem fond of her at first, but when he got to know her? She's the sweetest thing!). So Luffy isn't shy about things like this. However-
However.
Long post, by the way:
Sabo and Ace are a bit overprotective of Luffy. Well. Not really overprotective? They're not intense about it. They just treat Luffy (sometimes) like a kid and,, Honestly? It's understandable if you look at it from the older brother's perspective. Sabo and Ace have to take care of Luffy financially and I mean, have you seen Luffy's personality? He's actually extremely empathetic and pretty mature but he doesn't look like that at all, and he's seventeen. And it's not that they're worried about somebody taking advantage of him, because they know Luffy would never do something he doesn't want, but it's just,,, Seeing Luffy heartbroken? After everything they've been through together? After seeing Luffy crying already? They finally have a stable home, more or less, and he has a group of friends! They just don't like the idea of Luffy dating somebody they don't trust. But, you know, miscommunication and older sibling stuff. Sabo and Ace keep making fun of him and they say he's too young to date and have sex and understand these things. And they're not really serious about it? They just joke around. And Luffy is always complaining about it but y'know, whiny little brother, what's new? So they worry about him dating a stranger and that's why they always tell him to be careful (Luffy is SO done with them) and they just make fun of him because... Because they can. Older brother stuff. So, basically, they make a little bit of fun of Luffy and also keep saying he should be careful if he's going to date somebody, and Luffy takes it pretty damn seriously because he hates it when they treat him as a kid. Now, add the "Sabo's going to college and still takes care of them" layer here and the "Ace has his own issues and feels like a burden".
So when Luffy starts dating Zoro... It's a whole mess. He doesn't want them to make fun of him, first things first. He also doesn't want them to give him THE talk. He refuses to listen to them if they tell him he's too young and should break up with Zoro (which doesn't even make sense because Ace was even younger when he started dating people). And he doesn't want them to worry either because Ace seems more distant lately (Ace is dealing with the Yamato thing) and Sabo is always complaining about college being a scam and a shithole full of rich spoiled brats he hates (the only good thing there? Koala). So, of course, the most obvious thing to do is to hide the fact that they're dating.
Zoro is,, Luffy doesn't really know? Zoro is his best friend? But that doesn't feel right because that's what all of his friends are to him. Zoro is just something more. They start growing closer. And closer. And Luffy wishes they could be even closer but Nami tells him that that's literally just dating. That they're quite literally dating already. Luffy doesn't really get it? Like, the whole concept of dating is just dumb because it seems like a friendship with extra steps. Zoro is just- He's special but it doesn't really feel like Nami's crush on Vivi? He just knows that Zoro makes sense in his life and he doesn't want to do these things with anybody else (Luffy doesn't know that being Aroaspec is a thing, leave him alone). The fact that he feels the need to hide Zoro from Ace one day is what makes everything click. And it's funny like that because he asks Zoro if they're boyfriends and he's just like "I guess we are. Do you want to?" and Luffy couldn't be happier because well, at least now he has a word for it or whatever. And it's kind of exciting, isn't it? Like an adventure, the fact that they have to sneak in and hide from his brothers. Zoro finds it funny the first few times, but he thinks it'd be easier if he just told Ace and Sabo. But whatever, as long as Luffy is comfortable.
But Ace notices because Ace isn't fucking stupid and he's street smart and probably the one who knows the most about things like this. When the group is hanging out together, he notices the way the two guys look at each other. They're all very clingy, but he notices Zoro actively holding back and his touches lingering more on Luffy's body. He can tell when somebody is hungry and touch starved just by looking at them, for fuck's sake, it's horrendous to witness because it's painfully obvious. The way Zoro is always the last one to go home. That, and also that they're not quiet when Zoro ends up in Luffy's room. Zoro might do well with the "sneaking in" part, but the "staying over without your brother finding out" part? Nah. Horrible. Awful. They're idiots. Ace lets them enjoy themselves for a while because, meh, who cares? Besides, he's doing the same exact thing. For different reasons, but technically they're both lying to each other, so it's okay. He keeps an eye on them and tries to leave them enough food if he's going out with Yamato and that's about it. He isn't worried about Zoro. Because it's Zoro. And it only takes one glance at him to know he would do anything for his little brother.
Now, the thing is, Ace is angry. But he's not angry because Luffy is keeping this from him. Teenage years stuff. The thrill of having secrets. It's not as dramatic as Sabo would say it is. Ace is angry because one day Luffy comes home extremely irritable and visibly sad and he won't tell Ace why. He keeps asking but Luffy keeps yelling and pushing him away and Ace knows it's because of Zoro because it's the one thing he won't tell him. And now Luffy is sad and he can't tell his own brother because he fears he might get angry for the wrong reasons and Ace is angry because Luffy isn't telling him. The reason why Zoro and he fought isn't really important (although if you wanna know, it's linked to another AU I have that I just realized fits this thing too? So I'm just mixing them up. And basically, Zoro and Sanji were arguing and Zoro said something really fucked up without meaning to hurt Sanji that much, and Luffy didn't like that. And he could tell Ace about that but Ace would probably say "if he's just your friend why are you being so dramatic? Just talk things out. You've had worse fights with other people and haven't reacted like this" and Luffy isn't risking anything). Long story short, Ace ends up getting angry and telling Luffy that he knows he's dating Zoro. And it kind of goes like this:
Ace: Luffy, I don't want to get angry because I am not your babysitter and you're not a kid- Luffy: Liar. Ace: What?! Luffy: You're always saying I'm a kid. That I shouldn't date. Or have sex. Ace: Do you even want to have sex? Luffy: I dunno. Maybe? Not really. But it'd be nice if I could choose for myself! Besides, I don't mind if it's with- Ace: With who? Luffy: With nobody! Ace: Agh, c'mon now, Luffy! Don't act like a child. Luffy: See? You're always doing this! Ace: And you're keeping things away from me! What? You don't trust your own brother?! Luffy: You're gonna get angry. You are already angry. And you have your own things and you're going to go all worried older brother on me- Ace: I am not Sabo. Luffy: Oh, fuck, don't tell Sabo. Ace: Tell him what, exactly? Because you're not telling me shit. Luffy: ... But you already know. Ace: Yes, I know, I am not stupid. But I want to hear it from you. Luffy: Why?! Ace: Because I want you to trust me enough to tell me these things, you moron! Especially since he has hurt you so much. What the fuck did he do? Luffy: Nothing. It's nothing. Zoro didn't do- Ace: Okay, we're finally using his name. What did he do to you? Luffy: He didn't do anything to me! It's just- It's a silly fight. I'll be fine. I'm old enough. Ace: Nobody should be old enough to go through these things alone. Luffy, you don't have to deal with it on your own. I am here. Luffy: But... But you already have your thing with Yamato. And your job. And I can deal with this- Ace: You shouldn't deal with this alone. Even if it's a stupid fight that you're gonna solve in less than two days because it seems that if he spends more than five minutes away from you he fucking dies. Luffy: But- Ace: You always go to Sabo for these things, you know? It'd be nice if you trusted your other older brother too. Luffy: Sabo doesn't know. Don't tell Sabo. Ace: Then, tell me. Luffy. Just trust me.
Long story short, Luffy tells Ace what happened and Ace gives him some advice and they talk things out. So Ace isn't really angry at Luffy and he doesn't have to tell Zoro to sneak in anymore. Unless Sabo is the one home, because Luffy makes Ace promise he won't tell Sabo any of this. Ace just tells Luffy to do the same with the Yamato thing and they'll be fine. Basically, they're stupid because they keep lying to Sabo because they want him to not worry for them anymore. He has this older brother complex thing and he always tries to have everything under control and feels like he's the one responsible for everything? And they just would hate it if his finally stable mental health shattered just because of their own drama (bold of you to assume Sabo is well mentally in this AU, because he isn't. None of them are. Ace and Sabo are the ones who have more issues with mental health, tho, but Sabo is the one who tends to have more extreme emotions. Mental stuff headcanons, not important).
But it just makes things worse. For obvious reasons.
As I said in the original post about the AU, Sabo finds out about Yamato and reacts the way he reacts there. I think the fight is a bit more dramatic, but I didn't want to make it long. And of course, Sabo remembers what Ace said about Luffy "sneaking in" friends, and he asks him about it. Ace is just- He's so done with keeping secrets. But he also doesn't want to make Sabo more worried, even if he technically reacted well to Yamato staying over. Sabo is a bit more protective of Luffy (but in the sense I said before, not wanting him to get hurt because they know he cares A LOT about his relationships and a breakup or a fight would break his heart) so Ace is starting to question if it's a good idea to tell him about Zoro. Or if he should be the one doing it. Ace ends up telling him because it's Sabo we're talking about, and if they keep more secrets from him it's going to be a whole lot more drama. But the way he finds out is actually like:
Ace: Okay, don't get angry at Luffy for this. He was just worried about how you would take it. Sabo: Take what? I already told you, your idea of me is so fucked up. I am not a monster. Ace: I know. I know, Bo. But you know,, Ugh. Okay. Look. He's been dating Zoro for a while now. Sabo: The green-haired guy? The one who goes to the dojo next to the bakery? Ace: How do you even know that? Sabo: Because I listen to what others tell me? And why would Luffy think I'd get mad, c'mon. That guy would set himself on fire for our brother. I'm actually more worried about him than Luffy. Ace: He just- He just thinks we'd get too overprotective because we say he's just a kid. Sabo: But he told you. Ace: No, I found out. Sabo: But you told him I wouldn't get mad, right? Ace: ... Sabo: Ace. You told him to tell me, right? Ace: He asked me not to tell you. Sabo: What? Why? Ace: Look, I think it's better if we talk about this together? Just wait until he wakes up, please. Sabo: But he didn't tell me. Doesn't he trust me? I- If I have to drop out of college- Ace: Sabo, don't be stupid. You're not quitting. Sabo: But I don't want him to push me away like this! I- I feel like I don't know anything about his life. Ace: You know where his fucking boyfriend trains and you feel like you don't know him? Shit, I've been here the whole time and I recently found out they had a fight. It's not about colleg- Sabo: They had a fight? Ace: Oh, fuck, Sabo- Sabo: Is he okay? Why didn't he tell me? Ace- Ace: Just wait until he wakes up, c'mon.
So, Sabo is feeling like shit. Yamato is there having breakfast knowing that something's wrong. Ace looks at his boyfriend with the guiltiest of expressions. And- And Sabo is obviously not okay. So, everything is going downhill. They wait for Luffy to wake up because he's either an early bird or sleeps til noon, depending on the day. Right now, hours seem to be getting longer and longer. Until he inevitably wakes up and sees the whole thing and he's like "Oh! Yamato! What are you do-" and Ace rolls his eyes and says "Luf, he knows. C'mon. Of course he knows." and Luffy turns to Sabo smiling and saying "So you let him stay?! Of course you do, right? I told Ace he was being silly for worrying about that." (<- they're both stupid because they knew Sabo wouldn't get mad or anything, they were just worried about him getting too concerned. Idiots). Sabo sighs and he says that yes, he's obviously letting Yamato stay all he wants. Luffy acts like everything is fine, then, having breakfast and talking to Yamato like normal. But Sabo is digging his nails on the palm of his hand and he's not in a good place right now. Everything is normal until Sabo speaks up:
Sabo: Luffy, I- Do you think I'm spending too much time in college? Ace: Sabo, don't- Sabo: I've been staying at Koala's for a long time. Her apartment is closer to the campus, too, and- And I don't know. Would you want me to be around here more often? Luffy: Mmm? But you're always saying that you need to focus on studying! Luffy: I- Ace: He knows about Zoro, Luffy, don't lie. You're an awful liar, too. Luffy: Did you tell him?! Why?! Sabo: It's fine, I am not mad. Leave Ace alone. Luffy: You're not angry?! Sabo: See? Why do you even think I'd get angry? Luffy: ... Because I lied to you. And I'm dating somebody. Sabo: Luffy. I always tell you to be careful because I don't want you getting hurt by some random person. But it's Zoro! I- I know him. And you're seventeen. You knew I wouldn't get mad. So what's the truth here? Yamato: Ace, I can go to Deuce's for a while if you don't want me- Sabo: Please, don't be like that. You're family now. I- I'm not kicking you out. I am not mad. Why does everybody think I'm angry? You can listen to this. I'm sure you know more than Luffy now than me. Ace: Dude, you're being too hard on yourself. Sabo: But I am not here enough for Luffy to trust me! Ace: It's not that he doesn't trust you! He just doesn't want you to get like this! Sabo: Like what?! Ace: You're always blaming yourself for things that aren't your fault! Yes, Luffy didn't tell you he has a boyfriend. I didn't tell you Yamato was staying here. We didn't tell you because you're better than us. Luffy: Ace- Ace: We didn't tell you because you actually have a chance of doing something with your life and this? Teen drama? Luffy fighting and making up with his boyfriend because he said something mean about another guy? Yamato doing the same thing you did when you were a kid at twenty-six? This is not the stuff you should be blaming yourself for! You have this constant need to take care of everything b- Luffy: I'm not weak. I can take care of myself, Sabo. Sabo: Do I make you feel like you're a burden? Do I really- Luffy: What? No! Sabo: I just-I just want you to be able to tell me these things without thinking I'm gonna go into another episode. I'm fine. Just tell me these things and we can find a solution together. Isn't that what we've always done? Ace: Then you have to promise you won't try to carry everything on your own. Man, you already are stressed enough. Luffy: Yeah, and I trust you! Dumbass! I wanted to tell you. Ace: Shit, babe, I'm sorry you have to deal with us now- Yamato: Oh, no! It's really nice. Sabo: Nice? Yamato: You love each other so much you fight about it. Never seen that before. And you're letting me be a part of this! I think it's great. Thank you.
This is getting TOO long, but to end this: They obviously talk things out. Sabo tries to focus on studying but also calls them regularly so they can tell them everything about their lives. He also visits often with Koala. Yamato starts living there (not really because there are some issues with Kaido still, even if he's old enough to do whatever the fuck he wants, but he stays over most of the time). And Zoro meets Sabo finally saying he's Luffy's boyfriend (and it's literally just the same as always because they already know each other. Sabo is just happy they can be together in front of him).
Who would've thought the key would be communication, huh?
