the absolute contrast between most of the dracula daily content and mina's entries...
renfield and seward: stuck with each other (we're sposed to feel sorry for seward i think? but renfield is just vibing in a damn lunatic asylum and seward is a self-important jackass, so, you know. fuck him. i hope renfield feeds his corpse to some flies.)
captain of the demeter: his men are disappearing and he's facing imminent mutiny
jonathan harker: literally battling the forces of hell for his life and soul
mina: ahhhhh holidaying at the yorkish seaside is so pleasant! 😊 the scenery fulfills the soul! 😊 i tried to get one of the old locals to tell me a spooky story but he preferred to go home for tea haha, so quaint
also mina: i met my darling lucy at the station 😊😊😊 and let me just tell you, diary, that girl of mine looking fine af

okay so it IS about being told not to waste your youth being sad and it IS about the reminders-of-an-unsatisfying-life kind of insomnia and it IS about grieving what feels like a death and the kind of desperation of just being unable to accept something to a VERY throwback kind of sound I'm doing great guys :D

in the seemingly endless wake of "your fave is problematic" moral posturing i cannot emphasize enough that everything i don't like is because i think it sucks. nothing to do with morality. i just think it sounds and/or looks bad.

I had a lot of weird dreams last night for whatever reason, but in one of them I was a kid who accidentally fell of a cliff into the river, and managed to paddle to and climb onto a rock at the bottom of the steep bank.
Then an emu came wading over to me and started curiously pecking me and trying to steal my buttons 😂

The three have such fascinating villain potential by this point in Po3 tbh. Jayfeather doesn't like StarClan and they can't control him, Lionblaze has a big ego and is quick to violence, Hollyleaf has a desire for power and respect. They could have been a seriously dangerous combo. No wonder StarClan was scared lol.

I can't believe that we're only half-way through February 2023 and so much crazy stuff has already happened this year.
And yet I'm also not at all because I honestly believe these are the "birth pains" the Bible talked about.
And because 2022 was getting so weird, I figured 2023 would probably be the same way and worse. Like, that we'd get more of the same (and maybe more intense things? And perhaps stranger?) and maybe even in faster intervals. (And that also goes hand-in-hand with the Bible mentioning the "birth pains", and how like a woman in labor they would become more frequent and painful.)

had a momentary obsession that i shall ramble about in the tags
#doing research on this old abandoned bridge that my younger brother's airsoft team used to cross for their campaigns#just on the edge of a nearby town and literally falling apart#and anyway found out some really interesting things today!#there is only one resident remaining on the other side of the bridge; he actually fell through the thing about 5 years ago#he caught himself though so he didn't land in the VERY deep and COLD mountain creek below#he doesn't qualify for any kind of land/property/fire insurance because literally no one can reach his trailer from the other side#the bridge was built in 1917 and there were at least 10 other homes on the other side & a town dump further along the road#(i explored a little over there once with sky; i got the 'grand tour' with him & said sole resident [sky & co's friend])#the same town used to have at least five different train routes#the same town had TROLLEYS?!?#i knew they had a canal system (i've explored some of that before) and only half the train tracks are abandoned but like#TROLLEYs?!?!?#they were there as late as the tail end of the 1950s WHY did you GET RID of THEM?!#i found a lot of local history blogs and just-#it was all so pretty and there were more bridges across the three rivers i'm-#i'm so sad because we had all this beautiful public transit and it's just Gone now#anyway~#i got my answers as to WHY the bridge went into disrepair anyway: the town shut down the dump (not quite sure yet why)-#and put most of the land- and the connecting bridge- up for sale#sky's buddy mike did NOT sell his property but all others had either passed on or moved away#the lawyer who bought the parcel- one of those local families that thinks they're hot shit because they're wealthy- decided to neglect it#cue several really intense floods in the early-to mid 2000s and the base of the bridge is basically shambles#the trellises are still there but literally it barely supports any weight these days; mike had it patched up with ramshackle wood beams#and some plywood; i remember crossing it around... 2018-ish? and there were just whole patches where there was nothing at all between#you and the water. skyler led the way across; the airsoft team had spraypainted the spots where the wood was safest to cross#but yeah in case anyone's curious what ace did today during their downtime at work now you know#history shit#shut up ace

i get asked so often why i walk fast that i've been forced to actually consider it and come to the conclusion that having a preference for heavy boots with steel toes and chunky platform heels has forced me to compensate in order to keep up with other people to the point that it's done some rock lee training weights shit to me. if the mafia strapped cinderblocks to my feet and threw me in the river to sleep with the fishes i could probably swim to shore just fine.

re: ohio chemical disaster
OP of the post I reblogged earlier regarding this turned off reblogs (understandable have a nice day) but I got a request to put the information in its own post, so here.
First thing: PLEASE be careful about claims that "The Media" is suppressing something as part of a malicious agenda, or that an event has been purposefully manufactured by "The Media" to distract from something else.
Not only is this a really common disinformation tactic (not only urging you to share/reblog quickly, but discouraging you from fact checking), treating "The Media" as a monolithic entity with purposeful agency and a specific, malicious agenda—particularly one that manufactures events to "distract" from other events—is a red flag for conspiracy theories.
There's already a post in the tag attributing the supposed lack of media coverage to "reptilians." Please connect the dots here.
Second—"the news isn't focusing on this as much as I think they should" is not a media blackout. Every major USA news source is reporting on the Ohio train derailment. Googling returns at least 4 pages of results from major news media sources. Even just googling "Ohio" gets you plenty of results about it.
This is an unusual amount of media attention for a U.S. environmental disaster.
Because this kind of thing happens all the damn time.
The "media blackout" narrative gives the impression that this is an unusual event that isn't receiving wall to wall coverage only because it's being suppressed—when the reality is that similar disasters happen a lot, and hardly ever get the attention the Ohio disaster is getting.
Consider this example, not too far from my local area: A few years ago, almost 2,000 tons of radioactive fracking waste were illegally dumped in an Eastern Kentucky municipal landfill, directly across from a middle school. Leachate from that landfill goes into the Kentucky River, which is where most of the central part of the state gets its drinking water. As far as we know, the radioactive waste isn't leaking yet, but it could start leaking at any time.
Zero national news sources covered this. Why? If I was to hazard a guess, I would say "because it's business as usual for the fossil fuel industry."
Consider also the case of Martin County, KY, which has had foul-smelling, contaminated drinking water for decades. Former coal country in Appalachia is poisoned and toxic, and laws have little power to punish the companies that created the destruction.
What happened in Ohio is just a little window into a whole world of horrors.
The Martin County coal slurry spill that is still poisoning the water 20 years later killed literally everything in the water for miles downstream (a book Mom read said 70 miles of the Ohio river were made completely lifeless). It was 30 times larger than the Exxon-Valdez oil spill, and it was in some sense "covered up"—in the sense that the Bush administration shut down the investigation because the Republicans are buddies with the fossil fuel industry, and proceeded to relax regulations even further.
Seriously, read that wiki article to get pissed enough to eat glass.
Hopefully the Ohio chemical spill will inspire real action to institute regulations to prevent shit like this from ever happening again. It's not the end of the world. It's not radically different from what industries have been causing the whole damn time. It is pretty bad.
I would urge everyone to actually search up information about it instead of getting news from Tiktok or Twitter, because the more false information gets distributed, the less momentum any effort to respond with improved regulations and changes to prevent future disasters will have. Plenty of facts here *are* public and being publicly discussed and pretending that they're not is actively detrimental.
