Top 10 Skyrim Characters

I was tagged by @blossom-adventures (thank you so much! 🥰) to share my top ten Skyrim characters, so here we go:

Miraak. Not only because I'm writing a fic about him, but because I truly believe he had potential both as a character alone and concerning his bond with the LDB. Bethesda did not do him justice and his story was written hastily and with many plot holes, however, this is why there are many wonderful fics with amazing headcanons that reconstruct his past and his personality, so he doesn't seem like the ultimate black villain with absolutely no motives for his actions.

Paarthurnax. He is this old and wise grandpa we all run for advice and in contrast with Miraak, Paarthurnax was written in-depth: even though a villainous dragon, he overcame his dominant nature through effort and was redeemed.

Vilkas & Farkas. The wolves of my heart! I love how they have been written with completely different personalities despite being twins, and I wish they were my best friends (or my protective big brothers! 🤗).

Brynjolf. He has big brotherly vibes too; he is this friend who will pick a cute nickname for you (this soft-voiced "lass" is everything, I swear!). What I love the most about his character is his loyalty to the Guild and his undying faith/trust in the Dragonborn from the first time he sees them until the very end when he declares them as Guild Master.

Speaking about the Guild, I absolutely love Karliah, too. I can't get enough of this melodious voice she has, and her beautiful purple eyes. Also, she is the reason why the Dragonborn is still alive after Mercer's betrayal and attack (nursing them back to health and all), plus, I adore her tragic romance with Gallus - calling her his "little nightingale" inspired me quite a lot for another cute bird-like term of endearment in my own fic... 😇

Serana. I mean, I am emotionally attached to her. Mostly because she has a veryveryvery similar personality to my own LDB (and a rather shared traumatic experience), but truly, Laura Bailey's soothing, smooth voice is amazing; I could listen to it all day! (Also, I think I can spoil this, Serana will make a big cameo in my fic, and she will play an important role in the story... 👀).

Teldryn Sero. My favorite follower in-game, and the best elven character in Skyrim. He has lived a long life himself, and he cannot help but be constantly snarky with witty remarks that make me want to smooch him! 😘 I love that he is also a spellsword, like Jia, and together they always make the perfect duo!

Delphine (& Esbern). Yes, I like Delphine. She may not maintain the best relations with my LDB, because of this Paarthurnax issue, but she is a character I admire, and I think she and Esbern are well-written. Despite their age, they don't hesitate to fight with fearlessness, they are brave and dedicated to their oath as Blades, and they hate the Thalmor. Anyone who hates the Thalmor is a friendly character.

Jarl Balgruuf & Jarl Idgrod. Probably the most likable, honorable Jarls. I love Balgruuf's wisdom and Idgrod's ability to see visions - despite being stigmatized by it.

Ulfric Stormcloak. The truth is, that the questline about the civil war I don't usually complete it, because I don't really want to choose a side. So, I'm neither an Imperial nor a Stormcloak. But Ulfric is the epitome of a gray character - he is not bad, per se, but he is not good either, and some of his motives are unclear. I personally love complex, gray characters that I end up loving to hate; makes me try to comprehend their deeper intentions, and thus I know that their development is meticulous and well-written.

A Hero’s Guide To Deadly Dragons Liveblog Part 3

- oh. ohhh. Idk the audio I listened to seems to have been badly arranged, the book wasn’t that long after all! It said 5 hours but was done at 2.5 hours

- so I’m done with Book 6 now

- Stoick + Bertha: still the best chaotic friendship hahaaa

- I so enjoy Bertha’s voice ahhhhhh

- I didn’t enjoy Hairy’s voice. I believe his dialogue would have sounded much more threatening if I had read it in my own inner narrating voice. I suppose it just happens like that sometimes with David Tennant running out of new voices to create. That’s okay.

- GUMBOIL on the other hand was veryveryvery much enjoyable :D I WANNA SEE MORE OF HIM PLEEEAAAAASE

- “Perhaps Thor had decided to save their lives by taking out his hammer and knocking a piece out of the sky to strike down the enraged librarian.” You know. Every once in a while, Cressida produces wonderful, simplistic poetry. I really wish there was more of it!!! She would make a splendid poet I’m sure!!!

- pheeewwww, Stormfly got her memory back. Much relieved. I like her sooo muuuuch

- Toothless and Stormfly: second best chaotic friendship haha. WHAT A DUO XD what an unlikely pair to form a friendship. A jealous, selfish but unexpectedly loyal green gremlin and a beautiful, scaly, shiny liar with looong lashes.

- “Madguts is interested to hear, Bertha, that you feel there are some people it would be unwise to nick things from, because he would have thought that HE would be one of those people.” THE DELIVERY OF THAT LIIIIIIIIIINE Gumboil my new bff is awesome with words!!!!

- Stealth dragon is a real goodie-goodie, and he’s working for a real baddie-baddie. TRAITOR haha. Come to think of it, this dragon has neither a name nor an opinion about anything. It remains entirely silent, like its master. Don’t know if that’s a good or a bad thing, concerning the oppression of dragons that we’ve already discussed

- Yo but Hiccup framing the Hairy Scary Librarian to save Bertha is sooooooooooo wroooooooooong and feels soooooooo out of character for him..... this wasn’t for the best of anyone, this was Hiccup saving himself and the people who were important to him. As a person who greatly valued books too, Hiccup should have understood why the Librarian acted territorial about them. Vikings stealing rare books for fun, damaging them, and never returning them, is something that makes my heart bleed and makes me feel like a great injustice was done to the Librarian for protecting them. The killing revenge spree he went on is “acceptable” because killing each other over trivial things is normal in that universe. What isn’t acceptable is Hiccup sending poor, UNCONSCIOUS Hairy to the Slave Lands!!!??? He’s INNOCENT!!! He wasn’t given a chance to defend himself, and he was in fact in the right about Hiccup stealing from him! Uhh Hiccup I expected better from you here??? Your later excuse about the Librarian is PATHETIC and I hope this mistake comes to bite you one day

- sure the Librarian should have made his library open to the public but that’s not a reason to send him to the Slave Lands for!!!????? @ book fandom I need your thoughts on this pls??? I’m yelling about a moral injustice here

- “Brilliant!”, whispered Camicazi under her breath. “That’s brilliant! - For a boy, of course.” haha but that comment was cute

- No, Gumboil doesn’t believe this bullshit and I applaud him for it (but that’s just the cherry on top. I would have liked him even if he hadn’t said this)

- “liberate” the Meathead Public Library and stop the ban on books ohhhkay

- okayyyyyy fine I get the lesson on the importance of public knowledge but it was still so unfair to that person. It didn’t justify the means. If Hiccup was so brilliant he could have done it differently.

- Stoick is proud aahhhhhhhhhh

- Bertha is at least a good sport, wonderful

- Hiccup: “America!” - “Nosuchplace”, snorted Stoick. Lol

- Book can save your lives YES THEY CAN

- Hiccup gets a birthday banquet awwwww he deserves it after this day lol

aight i’m gonna have to request that none of you look really hard at this account because it is -75% finished and it’s ugly and that’s just not my aesthetic, i swear. i’m stella and i am always late for everything and if you cannot accept that as who i am then... honestly i understand i'm tired of my shit, too. i'm bring this charismatic asshole, chanyeol, to everyone. he's difficult and it's okay if you want to fight him, i understand. message me or like this if you want to plot and i'll come knocking at your inbox door!

* — ⌜ kang1, yoon jeonghan ⌟ ↝ has anyone else seen the kang heir walking around the hill lately ? their name is CHANYEOL and they are the kang’s oldest child. they’re twenty-four and currently a graduate student and paralegal, making their parents proud, i would hope. i heard they can be very playful but lately they’ve been quite manipulative. don’t tell anyone, but someone told me he’s just like his mother. i wonder if that’s true ?

∽ to be quite honest chanyeol is the time to taunt you while your parents aren’t looking and get you in trouble while smirking and sticking his tongue out behind your parents back. he’s that bad kid that parents love and compare their children to. doesn’t really really have a reason for being two-faced. blame it on his mother, after all he learnt from the most two-faced person of all. ∽ grew up with a great father (who was kinda absent in his life??? usually busy??? but chanyeol loved his dad and understood) and a not so great mother who crushed him under her expectations. kinda feel like he had it worse growing up, because at first he was the shining star and then after his younger sibling was born, he was deemed a disappointment and the other sibling was promoted for shining star. chanyeol understands. he was better and naturally talented. chanyeol was the type who had to work hard to be acknowledged. thought he’d love no longer being under his mother’s thumb, but turns out he’s a normal kid and still craved his momma’s love and attention. ∽ surprisingly, and probably to his mother’s disappointment, he’s never hated or envied any of his siblings??? even if he was no longer the favorite and his mother had pretty much written him off as “no longer the best”, he freakin’ loves his little buddies and honestly views them as the best things that happened to him??? give him big brother of the year award, will 100% kill for his siblings. ∽ do not get him wrong, he knows just how twisted he can be and is… he hates being compared to his mother, but he’s more like her than he’d ever care to admit, and he blamed her for trying to mold him into a mini her. literally was told that no one in the world mattered except himself, and people were obstacles he had to climb over and use. ∽ does his best to make sure his siblings do not end up like himself or his mother because his own dynamic is toxic and bad and being a manipulative son of a bitch is the last thing he’d want them to be. a little hypocritical because he will adamantly insist they not do something and then turn around and do it himself, but he’s already tainted so he doesn’t see it as a big deal. ∽ siblings can do no wrong in his eyes??? don’t talk bad about him or he’ll make your life hell. king of spreading rumors, but usually has a good reason as to why he’s spreading them… for furthering his own goals or revenge. yep. good fantastic reasons. ∽ the death of his father kinda made him worse??? his father was always telling him not to do this, to consider other people, etc. but he doesn’t have that influence any more and his mom??? she plays so dirty??? silently at war with her, but damn do they look like a perfect mother - son out in the public eye. his mother was probably indifferent toward him at first, however since he’s been snooping around she’s also trying to bring him down. unfortunately for her, he’s a better snake than she is. ∽ the local polite thinks he’s a bad son, however, because he straight up accused her of doing something fishy but all they saw was a heartbroken woman sobbing loudly about losing her husband. they were old and quick to jump to a damsel’s defense, so the case is closed but he’ll pry it back open with his teeth if that’s what it takes. ∽ was going to pursue a career in music (in fact graduate with a degree in music), however now he’s interested in law. doesn’t plan to be a prosecutor, however being a paralegal has its perks and he’s learnt a lot. working to become a private investigator because as long as he doesn’t get caught, he can be as dirty as he wants. ∽ has his own place, but depending on where his siblings are located (if they also live alone/with him/with their mother), he often stays at the family home to be closer to his siblings. might be a dad bit paranoid something might happen to them. but behind closed doors, his mother has begun to threaten him and the easiest way to attack would be his beloved siblings. doesn’t have a fear that their lives are in danger, but wouldn’t put it past her to try and turn them against him??? ∽ actually really likes investigating things and the prosecutor he’s a paralegal for really let’s him be hands on so he’s learnt what he can’t do, what he can do and what he can’t do but can so long as he doesn’t get caught. ∽ honestly, chanyeol is a snarky and sarcastic guy, but it’s not hard for him to make friends either??? somehow charming and affable, but it’s really hard to know whether or not to take him seriously??? also have to be mad careful what you say around him, he's very interested in drama and he will spread things around if it benefits him or he simply does not like you. :) ∽ naturally flirtatious but 95% of the time he’s just trying to have fun and doesn’t really mean anything. noncommittal af. has had maybe one or two serious relationships and in those he either broke someone’s heart or someone broke his. and yet his bedroom is a revolving door so. honestly hooks up with people as a stress reliever but at least he’s up front about it, if you catch feelings it’s not on him; he’s surprisingly against leading someone he’s sleeping with on. unfortunately, he is not against leading someone he's not sleeping with on. ∽ surprisingly playful??? likes laughing at others??? really likes riling others up, if you give him a good reaction you’re just gonna be a target for him. usually not malicious, it’s just entertaining for him. ∽ veryveryvery private. he’ll ask a hundred questions about your personal life, but his lips are sealed in regards his. cryptic af and also very flippant??? his mind can change on a dime??? ∽ confrontational??? kinda??? but more as a source of entertainment… he’s got issues. ∽ very fake. very much a chameleon in that he changes colors to fit any situation. a pathological liar, kinda??? lies a lot. ∽ kinda just a bad guy. but it’s because he has hard time opening up to others and being vulnerable??? his mom really messed him up so he’s a less put together version of her. less lethal as well, as in he’s actually capable of loving and caring about others.

give me enemies. people who can't stand him and people he can't stand. did he start a rumor about your muse? can't stand his fake persona? someone who got in trouble as a kid or teenager? couldn't stand your parents constantly compared you to saint chanyeol? maybe he's jealous of your muse for some reason? called him out on his mommy issues and struck a nerve so now he's trying to get back at you?

give me an ex best friend who everyone was like, "if you see one, the other isn't too far behind" and then one year they were at each others throats??? why??? what happened??? no one knows, but everyone knows it had to be big.

there's a rumor going around that you're dating. ironic because the two don't even get along??? but he loves getting under your skin so he's feeding the flames and subtly suggesting that the rumor isn't baseless.

need a convincing fake boyfriend??? chanyeol volunteers for tribute, but you owe him one. :)

a best friend or two??? "chanyeol your a son of a bitch, but that's okay", you can see past the grime and know he has a heart of... well, not gold, but it's shiny! that bestie who goes out and gets drunk with him and listens to him wax poetic about his piano. probably one of few who know he actually really did love the piano.

someone who thinks he's crazy for quietly investigating his own mother??? probably doesn't have all the details on his family life, and because you're taking such a "noble" approach he can't stand you.

general friends??? ride or dies??? partner's in crime??? friends only when drunk, anything but when sober??? soft friends he must protect??? a squad of manipulative assholes???

he doesn't do relationships and that's probably because you broke his heart. :(

(tw; suicide m) if it's not too much of a bother, can i get some positivity for ibuki mioda who feels really useless and pretty sure she's a nuisance to everyone? i'm trying to overcome suicidal tendencies and reverse my negative mindsets but it just seems to become more difficult each day;; giving up and dying sounds like the better option. you can ignore this, i wouldn't blame you. have a wonderful day/night!

its not a bother at all, ibuki -- it never is. doing requests is what kin blogs are usually for!! you dont have to worry about that at all, or at least not here.

i hear you feel useless and like a nuisance. eugh. that is. the worst thing?? to feel?? especially when you have so many responsibilities piling up and you dont want to do them, or you dont think youre doing them as well as you could/should, or your effort doesnt give as good a result as someone else. and then feeling even more useless. its a vicious cycle, ibuki, and its so easy to fall into that trap.

i also hear youre trying to suicidal tendencies and reverse negative mindsets!! thats a huge step, ibuki!! and oh my god is it hard -- and gradual. your mind doesnt want to change overnight, as much as youd like it to!! frustrating. and if you keep having bad mental health days its even easier to believe youre a burden!!

first of all, i am so, so sorry youre going through this. its a lot. and you dont deserve it.

recovery often looks bleak -- like a mountain you keep climbing but no matter how far you go, no matter how long you hike, you never get closer to the top. so i say turn around!! look behind you!! remember how many times youve picked yourself up, how many times youve denied suicidal urges, how many times youve reached out to someone when distressed. everything!! give yourself some credit, ibuki!! youre doing so well and its all too easy to forget.

remember that it is not impossible to overcome this -- ive had over a year free from suicide and self-harm!! its still hard, and there are still days i want to go back to it, but it gets easier the longer you go. you discover other ways to cope, find other people to open up to, and each day you go without harming yourself is another little boost to your self esteem. maybe tape a piece of paper to your wall and tally up every day you dont attempt suicide!! keep a reminder of how far youve come!! and if you have to start over, thats completely okay. it happens.

ahh ill be honest, i teared up writing this?? just because. i want the best for you ibuki, and i want to see your cheery smile and your peppy attitude and, if you play in this life, your energetic music!! you are a ray of sunshine ibuki, and im sure anyone around you just wants to bask in your warmth as long as they can!! i know i do.

if youre having trouble taking care of yourself, you should check out this app called boosterbuddy!! heres a post explaining it better than i could (tho be careful, the sidebar image of this blog is an irl person!!) but basically its a little friend that reminds you to take medications and such!! it gives “goals” for every day to make sure youre doing okay and is overall very encouraging!! i just started using it and i love it.

ibuki, i want you to hear something -- really hear it. i dont know about anyone else but im pretty sure theyd say the same: i would never want to ignore you, or any of your requests. youre precious, important, and worth the time, energy, and love as anyone else. please dont put yourself down like that!! its subtle, but its undermining your worth and that is veryveryvery close to bad tendencies. i know i spiral if i start thinking too hard about this.

just remember -- you are loved, lovable, and loving, simply because you exist. and thats enough. you dont need some extravagant talent, or hundreds of friends&followers, or anything that would otherwise put your worth on a scale. you deserve to see the next sunrise, to get your diploma if you so wish, to get the job, relationship, house, anything of your dreams. you deserve the world, ibuki!!

i know that can be hard to hear when youre feeling like nothing but the grime on the bottom of someones shoe, but its true. no matter what. and also?? youre super cool and i love you!! feel free to hmu on my main @mintyyprince
