Hey y’all! Weird question time! Or more specifically, time for a weird question I’ve asked before
Was the high school you went to all one building, several buildings you had to walk between with no covered walkways, or several buildings but with covered walkways between them? And where was the school (not specifically)/what weather?
I grew up in southern California (where it is usually hot and rarely rains) and it never occurred to me a school could be all in one building until I saw my cousin’s high school in Oregon (where it is frequently cold and rains a lot)

thank you to @energievie & @gardenerian for the tag! i love you both so big! 🥺
rules: post the first lines of your last 10 fics/chapters posted on AO3 (if you have less than 10 fics posted, post the first lines of all your fics) and try to draw some conclusions.
"Their first Valentine’s Day together lands on a Tuesday." - flip fuck?
"It's been a fucking shitty day." - caught in the act
"The first time Ian Gallagher laid eyes on Mickey Milkovich, he was waiting to meet with his parole officer for the first time since he’d been released." - rewards for good behavior
"Ding! The bell at the top of the shop door announced Ian’s arrival." - an exception to the rule
"The first time it happens, Mickey thinks it must be a fluke." - a seven letter word for love
"'Hey man, one sec, I’ll be right up,' says the dark-haired, tattooed man holding a broom in the belly of the shop." - care for a cut?
"From the moment he presented, he knew he was a dead man. Mickey Milkovich, a fucking omega." - M8TE
"'Open that fucking mouth, Mick.'" - to hold between your teeth
"Ian has always wanted to grow tomatoes." - a pipe dream becomes a reality
"There’s a bead of sweat at the back of Ian’s neck that’s threatening to fall, and he wishes that it just fucking would already." - seizing an opportunity
conclusions: i like that there's some variety, but that they all feel like openings. invitations into a larger story. portals to good days, bad days, chance meetings and established, yet deepening relationships, individual journeys that clash and overlap... jeez. writing is so cool. i'm glad i did this! 🖤🖤🖤

𖦹 ׂ 𓈒 🐇 / ⋆ ۪ ― 𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗘 𝗕𝗘𝗙𝗢𝗥𝗘 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗖𝗜𝗥𝗖𝗨𝗦
I've been going over this in my head, and I think all the people who enter the game enter as a means to escape their reality, which is the irony of it all. Many people have hobbies and do things to escape their everyday lives. It's kind of like how we come on here and roleplay. Getting lost in these stories is just a way to take our minds off the real-life struggles and unwind. I like to think that maybe the game was advertised in a way that attracted this kind of people. People were looking for a way to escape for a little while, not knowing they were actually being locked inside a whole other kind of prison.
I like to think Jax is used to feeling like he's TRAPPED in a prison where things are just chosen for him. I think perhaps he does live on a successful farm his parents own. I think he desperately wanted a different kind of life where he got to do what he wanted. Instead, his future was decided for him. His father likely telling him that there was no point in him going to college, he was going to take over the farm. This is why I think corn is a fear for him. he doesn't realize unconsciously that it's a reminder of his reality when and if he ever leaves the circus.
He was used to not having control or much say in how things turned out for him, so it wasn't hard to accept when he entered the circus. I do think he was a bit naive when he first joined, and he also searched and searched for an exit. But the longer he's been there, the more it changes him. He had to bottle his real feelings even in real life, what is the difference for him now? it's just a different mask he gets to wear and his need to be mean, make pranks and jokes, and treat everyone like nothing matters is his armor to protect himself. because the latter is too scary. you'll never see him scared.

∗ 15﹕ sender and receiver make eye contact across a busy room .
Crowds are far from unfamiliar to her, yet she still finds herself lightly tense at the number of people around. Enough to have guard spiked, watching people passing by in some means of keeping a close eye on each one. People unfamiliar, no one quite so astonishing -
Until gaze finds that of someone familiar, head tilting curiously at the sight. Not quite who she expected to. . .well, ever see again. Curiosity spikes as it seems their gazes meet across the crowded room, the shouts and conversations around her seeming mere muffled now, attention entirely on the other. She’s older; how long has it been since?

Whenever someone makes a sound of disapproval/disappointment, or what have you, Leo instantly gets anxious and the first to say “What did I do?”.
