“ALWAYS YOU.”

“I tend to forget its always you that keeps me up at night.” Rui joked with a grin, turning his head to you with a small tilt. “Is it really me, or your mechanisms?” You ask. He lets out a chuckle. “I'm pretty sure it's you.”

CW : fluff, angst if you squint, okay maybe not angst if you squint it's pretty sad if you think about it, mentioned injury and blood, rui is a little jealous teehee ^_^

I tend to forget that sometimes you always care more than others.

Blood is rather a difficult task to clean but unless it hadn't stain, it wouldn't be so bad. It is tempting to let out a sigh yet you stay quiet to not sadden him further. “Rui, really, it's fine. A small cut isn't a big deal.”

“I hadn't been careful.” He says in a small whisper and you couldn't bring yourself to admit, yes, he hadn't been careful. Yet, you lift your hand to caress his cheek.

“I'm fine. I promise. It always you who patches me up when I'm injured, so I don't have to worry about bleeding to death.” He sends you a small glare and that sends you through a spiral of laughter. “Alright, alright. I'll stop joking like that.”

And as he wraps up your finger, he kisses it affectionately and you notice how he lingers before pulling away and letting your hand go. “You stay here, I'm putting this away. Don't, touch anything! I'm not risking another cut.”

Although you want to chase for the warmth of his hand you stay put and wait patiently for him to return.

The sun doesn't beam brighter than your smile and Rui knows that well. It's rare, and he recalls every single one when he feels under the weather.

However, this time, your smile isn't directed to him. Much to someone else. He can't help but let his heart sink to his stomach. Rui doesn't want to say it like he was, obsessed with you or something.

He much prefers he'd be the one you'd give your smiles to. Yet he keeps quiet, smiling politely as he stood beside you as you talked to your friends.

He hadn't realize, but it's always you who makes him unconsciously feel a slight bit jealous when talking to someone else. “Rui? Is something the matter?” He snaps out of his trance, turning to look at you with a shy smile. “Yes, what is it?”

You shake your head, intertwining your hand with his. “You look out of it. Cmon, you look sick. Is it the heat? We can go to a cafe to cool down.” Waving goodbye at your friend, you start to drag him as he laughs brightly.

Just maybe, he wants to be the only one you smile to.

Loving is hard, but being loved seems much harder. You realize that when someone breaks your heart. And it's unfortunate you are the victim of such.

Tears pour down like a waterfall, almost as of endless if it wasn't for Rui's shirt which soaked every drop. “It's alright, [ name ]. He doesn't deserve you. You deserve someone much better..” He coos, stroking your hair lovingly.

You weeped and weeped into his broad shoulder, clinging onto him like this would be the last time you'll be in his warm embrace. “I know you loved him so,”

He whispered softly into your ear, his breath sending shivers down your spine as you tried to calm yourself down. Rui pulls away for a moment to kiss away your tears and you feel your heart flutter.

‘It's always you who I run to for comfort, I'm sorry Rui.’ You thought as you closed your eyes, hugging him close as you buried your face into the crook of his neck, breathing in his scent of oil and metal.

It wasn't a pleasant smell, but it's a unique one. And it always reminds you of him.

You aren't good at cooking. Rui knows that well. He likes to tell himself that you'll be better at it in the “near” future, he'll never give up in trying to prove that you are.

But he's starting to doubt you'll ever get better. Your house is filled to the brim with smoke and he rushes to open the windows quickly. Turning his head, he resists the urge to roll his eyes playfully at the pout on your face.

“Cmon now, no need to be upset, you'll be better in the near future.” And he's done it again. “You always say that.. Do you really mean it, Rui?” He hesitates. You frown. “Nevermind.”

His gaze lingers, before he sighs. “Please, [ name ]? I know I hesitated but I swear you'll get better soon! I'm sure..” He places a hand on your shoulder and you give him a side-eye, before turning away and ignoring him.

He whines, tugging on your sleeve persistently. “Aww, don't ignore me like that!” You resist the urge to let out a chuckle but fail miserably as you start to giggle endlessly.

He smirks in triumph, before attacking you with tickles in which makes you laugh harder than before. ‘It's always you who personally tries to cook me meals, I can't thank you enough.’ He watches with a smile as you breathed heavily, a grin resting on your lips.

“Rui?” Your voice is a silent whisper in the dark room, lights flickering over him. Who rested on the table. “You're going to be the death of me, literally.” Approaching him, you can't help but admire him. Just a little.

His hands wasn't so clean but he always made sure to cut his nails if it grew longer than he preferred.

His hair was a mess, probably from the amount of times he had run his fingers through it or ruffling it up from stress.

A small smile rests on his resting face, as he shifts between 5 minutes due to his uncomfortable position.

Leaning down, you press a kiss onto his temple, brushing his purple hair away from his face as you continued to watch him peacefully. ‘It's always you who looks so beautiful, rest well.’

With the click of the light being switched off, you leave the room quietly.

As Rui leaves the room to the bathroom, Tsukasa takes the chance to ask you about your guys relationship. “So, anything happening between you guys?” He grins brightly, propping his chin onto his palms and elbows on the table.

“Kasa, c'mon, you really shouldn't expect progress on my crush on him. I wouldn't say he's oblivious but god it's always so frustrating for us to have long eye contact sessions together just for him to chuckle and walk away.”

You pout, crossing youre legs and leaning back on his couch. Tsukasa frowns, puffing a strand of his hair away from his face. “Then you've gotta try harder!” He says. You sigh.

“Can't, don't want to.” Unknowingly, it seems Rui had arrived earlier than he needed to, hearing into the conversation with a pattering heart and face flushed with red.

‘So, it's always you who makes me this flustered. You're winning this round, [ name ].’

Movies get boring at times, if it doesn't interest certain individuals. This one surely doesn't interest you, but since it does interest Rui, maybe you'll watch it.

You give him a small glance, smiling when you notice his eyes gleaming with interest. When he notices you staring, he smirks. “What? Is something on my face? Or am I so attractive to you?”

At his remark, you pretend to cough and face away from him in embarrassment. “Nothing. You just look so childish when watching the movie. This is our like, what, 8th time watching this?” He rolls his eyes, shoving you playfully.

“Whatever you say, darling.” He pulls you closer with an arm around your shoulder, squeezing you tightly as rested his chin on your head. You doing the same on his shoulder.

“Darling? Always you and your couple-ly nicknames.” You mutter and by the small snicker he lets out you assumed he hear you. “But of course, only for you my darling.

He notices how you had gotten more affectionate after that day, which he wasn't going to complain, he loved the affection. But an evening had left him more speechless than ever.

“Rui, ahh~” You extend your hand out, the spoon in your hand finding it's way to his mouth and he opens it willingly, taking the scoop of ice cream as it slowly start to melt in his mouth.

You chuckle at the content hum he lets out, and place the cup of ice cream to tuck a strand of his hair behind his ear. “You're so pretty, you know?”

He blinks at you a couple of times, like a deer in headlights. Using your other hand, you place it on the other side of his temple to stroke his hair lovingly.

He is left breathless, mind racing and butterflies in his stomach as he tries to process, what the hell were you doing?

“[ name ]..?” Rui says your name in a questioning tone, as you smile at him so warmly he couldn't help but gaze at you affectionately.

“I love you, Rui.”

He swore he felt his heart skip a beat and he breaks out in a grin, wrapping his arms around you and prepping kisses all over your face. Guess his answer was “I love you too.”, because it's always you who knows him best.
