I was just writing a cute little post about how Elain made Azriel’s eyes the brightest we’ve seen, and how he noticed her discomfort and knew what to say to make the light return to her eyes.
So naturally i had to mention her smile lighting up his shadows and Azriel following the sound of her laugh and how he came for her and how she devoured the sight of him and them just getting each other intuitively and communicating without words and—
Basically it turned into an essay on soulmatism. coming soon in theatres near you (i have a problem)

Doodled a little Hegemol Pharom having a sit in his hometown... Background taken from a Hollow Knight screenshot :)
Fully indulging in my canon character headcanons now. I have a previous post here that semi spells out what I think happened to Hegemol, but basically, I think he was one of the very first to succumb to the Radiance. Perhaps even targeted due to his proximity to the Pale King. But because she didn't yet have the influence over bug and mind she has at game time, her infection manifested more as growing illness, that slowly had him withering away as the dim light in the back of his head grew stronger. (It was during this time that the Maggot stole his armor; it seemed really unlikely that such a grand knight would just... let that slip willingly?)
Again, most likely due to his proximity to the PK and his own will, Hegemol managed to stave her off to the very end. After months (years?) of slowly falling into her grasp, Hegemol finally met his fate at the hands of an infected siege. I imagine the City of Tears was only sealed off after the infected outside began invading the city in force. Hegemol was the one to pull down the gate himself with the last of his strength, shattering the mechanisms that raise and lower it in the process and succumbing to fatal wounds. This is why it's his statue that holds the city crest, made to commemorate the first of the Five Great Knights to fall. Hegemol had spent most of his years helping the denizens of Hallownest, and the city he called home would not be unsealed without his 'blessing.' The fact he broke the gate to close it is also why it shuts behind you upon opening; it wasn't repaired fully before the infection got to the rest of the city's inhabitants.
Also I think Hegemol is the eldest of the Great Knights, and was born during the formation of Hallownest. He was from Dirtmouth originally, and his mothers were both confectioners lauded for their skill in making sweet jellies. They moved to the City of Tears fairly early on and were quick to support the PK's regime, mostly due to their existing ties with their noble customer base. Hegemol ended up joining the first wave of knights and worked his way up to the ranks, standing out by size of body and heart. Hegemol cared deeply for all of Hallownest, despite serving the upper echelons in the CoT for most of his run. When he fell, his fellow knights knew of his quiet desire to be lain to rest in the Howling Cliffs, so he could watch over his humble hometown and the way into Hallownest eternally.
After the defeat of the Radiance, Hegemol found his life returned to him with the essence expelled from her body, but the injury and illness he suffered before his end still lingered. He managed to make his way back down to Dirtmouth and was taken in by the townsfolk to recover. With his distinct horns shattered and previous habit of almost never being seen without his armor, Hegemol took the gift of respite willingly. He told them his name is Pharom, and he claims he can't truly remember anything that happened. Really, he's just taking things slow... Enjoying life as a simple bug again and regaining his strength to help rebuild. Maybe one day he'll get the courage to see what became of his fellow knights an King. But I think this guy deserves a god damned break!

do you ever just remember how one of the most effective things parvis said to get silence to lose faith in saria was essentially "do you really think she would ever choose YOU over everything?" and silence with her low self esteem really didn't believe saria would.
Then in the end saria really did choose them over everything, left her defense director job and her whole life up to that point behind for the sake of silence and ifrit. and silence still doesnt even know. do you ever think about that and lose your mind a little bit.

and sparrow's son loves the world so much and loves everyone around him and how can sparrow tell him that the world is cruel? how can he tell him that love will be punished and that cruelty is the only way to survive? normal's love scares him, he loves his son so much but that love scares him. he would do and has done anything for his son but he knows that it has led to his own ruin. and he loves his son but too much love has only ever harmed him and maybe he can take a model from his own dad and multitask.
maybe he can love his son but he hates him too, hates that normal can love and hates that normal can be loved and hates that normal can be so oblivious to the cruelty around him in a way that he himself lost when the world ended. he wants his son to have everything but loathes that fact that normal'll never try. that he just accepts life as it is. the way his dad did, when sparrow saluted henry and went along with the world's end and turned a blind eye to his wife's infidelity.
he sees himself in normal, maybe. maybe he hates that. because he lost himself, that day he lost his father's care and his mother's respect, and he can't bear to see himself lost again. normal needs to be cruel because otherwise he will be crushed and sparrow can't do that again. can't let himself be crushed again.

it honestly frustrates me when i see people reduce the ericsons cast down to "just some teens in the woods" acting like theyre no different than any other group of lone teenagers from other existing properties and treating them like an overused trope
it is sooo important to acknowledge the "troubled youth" aspect of the whole equation. theyre not just some random teens in the woods clem stumbles across. these kids were abandoned by their families for their various "difficulties" and fucked up by The System before the outbreak even began. and then once zombies started roaming the streets their familes never came back for them and the adults that were in charge of taking care of them just left them there to rot in that old boarding school (except for ms martin who was like their lee 🥺 the only person who ever saw them as the scared traumatized kids they were and died protecting them)
the whole aspect of them already being fucked up by the adults that controlled their lives is like.....kind of important when discussing the whole "delta is stealing kids to force them to fight in a war they have no real part in and want nothing to do with" aspect of the season. and its important when comparing them to clem and her journey of also suffering at the hands of the adults around her forcing her to become self reliant. AND its important when discussing the "just trying to build a safe home (and future) worth fighting for in this world that wants them dead" aspect of the season as well
these kids were forced to come together to survive. and a Lot of them didnt... theyre the only family they have left and you can tell that even when they argue with each other theyre still a close knit group who looks out for each other. theyre a Real family before clem even gets there (and its why what really happened with the twins and brody and marlon hits them all so especially hard)
all of this is what REALLY makes ericsons such a perfect home for clem. its a Real community of her True peers. theyre not Just teens. they mightve had a layer of safety clem never had by at least having walls to keep them safe. and having the benefit of the school being hard to find. its the only reason theyre still alive when clem shows up. but theyre also some of the only people who can Truly understand where clem and aj are coming from. and its why it hurts so much when they vote to kick them out. but its also partially why she merges back into the fold so easily when she returns. plus the fact that shes Really the only one who has any idea what shes doing. shes their rock and she makes them feel safe because underneath it all theyre still just those scared traumatized kids ("EVERYONE is scared, clem..." vi was Definitely including herself in that 'everyone'), and on some level, so is clem
they saved clementines life. and she saved theirs. "the school was supposed to help them with their trauma, now they help each other" its about the LOVE the COMMUNITY the SUPPORT!!!! and thats the shit that makes good zombie media honestly 👌

Nobara, Yuuji and Megumi all, I feel, represent three different ends of the morally good spectrum and I just think that is so intriguing . Like Yuuji is a bleeding heart, Megumi is a tsundere and Nobara is dangerously close to apathetic. I could write essays about their moral inclinations and how fascinating they are. Especially Nobara who, and this may be an unpopular opinion and some of y’all are not ready to hear, of the trio is the most like Gojo. Come on they are practically the same person especially when he was younger. And in this essay I will-

Sorry if this is Machiavellian or whatever but in school whenever we got assigned group projects that included a presentation I would deliberately partner up with the timid anxious kids because I've never minded public speaking and they were always fine with doing most of the writing in exchange for me being the one to do the presenting lmao.

Still baffled that I’ve met people who’ve been of the “drow are inherently evil” opinion. The word ‘indoctrinating’ is literally in Homeland to refer to how drow children are raised. Chapter five sentence two it’s just RIGHT THERE. It’s not even subtext it’s Just Text. What is going on.

Something i loved about Wakanda Forever was how female driven it was and yet, not a single cringy monologue about how Girls Get It Done! That movie gave us amazing representation without shoving it in our faces ever five minutes that they were giving us representation and asking us to be grateful for it.

so
may I introduce...
Cylas
They're in their mid to late 20s, use she/they pronouns, born and raised in Germany and actually have dual-citizenship. Something only few people know is that her German legal name - her birth name - is different, and that she changed her American name a while ago. Even less people know why.
Aside from her hair colour, on first glance one wouldn't find anything too extraordinary about them. Most of the time people don't take her seriously, being only 5'3" and having a "baby face", she is frequently even mistaken for a minor. However, one thing that does stand out is their accent - she likes to call it an "amalgamation of school English, American tv show influences, British English from living in the UK, and a German accent".
Additionally, with living in the South comes one important fact: warmer temperatures. This also means varying degrees of exposed skin - which she doesn't mind. But people are judgemental and just can't keep their opinions to themselves, so she gets a fair amount of comments on the variety of scars she has. One of the most prominent ones is a burn at the side of their head - they tend to jokingly comment that they'd been considering getting a sidecut anyway, and this way she didn't even have to pay money for it!
They also have some emotional control and regulation issues that they take medication and have therapy for. She isn't usually aggressive or violent, it does take a bit to push her to her limit. But don't be mistaken, her mind can be quite the dark and gruesome place. If it wasn't for laws and the consequences of possible violent actions there are a few people who'd be getting some alone time with her - and if there is one thing she knows, it's pain.
Aside from that, they work as a nurse and technically are or could work as a mechanic. They ended up not sticking with that though because even though they adored the work, the constant dismissive, patronising and condescending behaviour of customers just became too much. Bludgeoning the next person to call her "little lady" or doubt her abilities to death just wouldn't be a good look.
So, don't be mistaken: they may be short and not visibly muscular, but tbet are stronger than they looks.

what’s it like reading homestuck just because of the locked tomb… totally not because i’m also considering it 🫣
Well, as someone who understands the plot of harrow the ninth and is also listening to a podcast to help me understand the plot of homestuck, I still don't understand the plot of homestuck. Fortunately this doesn't matter because the point seems to be making various characters meet up and say things to each other. Overall, my main opinion is I would like to feed karkat a carrot. his little teeth are adorable and I want to watch him chomp and bite

Your jealous Will is perfection and I'm obsessed with it! I hope this incites more people to write more jealous Will fics bc he'd have the best most funny roasts for anyone dating Mike tbh 🤭 The fandom needs to explore this side of his character, like, Will is canonically jealous just like Mike is, the potential/set up is right there for the taking
omg tysm!!! i agree, jealous will is definitely a trope that hasn't been tapped into nearly enough both in terms of humor and angst bc there's definitely two sides to that coin!! i think the tragedy of will's arc in s4 (really everything from the rain fight on) has been talked about so much (which is not a bad thing!!! he's a sad boy and i would die for him) but like. pre rain fight will is such a bitch and i love it so much and he is canonically!! jealous!! (esp bc during s3 he doesn't have any emotional connection to el like. personally i believe him and el's bond is a huge part of the reason he chooses to lie abt the painting in s4, in addition to the distance between him and mike ofc) anyway. sorry for ranting and this might not be terribly coherent but basically. ty for reading and i AGREE can we start a jealous will renaissance pls
