Estelle de Laussienne
Tumblr media
B A S I C S
Name Estelle de Laussienne (born Fauconnier)
Nicknames None in regular use; her adoptive brother uses "Essie" to get under her skin.
Age 24 (ARR) - 30 (Dawntrail)
Nameday 17th Sun of the 5th Astral Moon
Race Half Sea Wolf Roegadyn / Half Midlander Hyur
Gender Cis female
Orientation Bisexual
Profession Chirurgeon. She's a woman of many roles and skills, but only one professional license, though in another life -- say, in a non-WOL AU -- she might have wound up the Scions' "diplomatic advisor" (crisis manager and fixer).
P H Y S I C A L A S P E C T S
Hair Black; as of the end of Shadowbringers, salt-and-pepper with a shock of white in her bangs. Coarse curls are courtesy of her roegadyn heritage. She has never cut her hair ("long hair is a woman's glory" and all -- have you seen Halone's? You cannot convince me there's nothing in Halonic scripture about it) and mostly wears it pinned in complex updos.
Eyes A dark violet, inherited from her father.
Skin A light, rainy-day grey inherited largely from her mother, with her father's cool pink undertones.
Tattoos/scars Being a healer -- and a terrible patient -- Estelle has few scars of her own, as she takes care of her own injuries and prides herself in the sort of detailwork in her physicking that reduces or prevents scarring. Which means the ones she does have are from the wounds she was too incapacitated to heal herself, gnarly clusters of keloids and ragged hypertrophic slashes from effective but graceless emergency healing: sternum to hip from the fight with Elidibus at Ghimlyt; side to side across her belly from the fight with Zenos at the end of creation; and her oldest, a mottled burn scar around her left shoulder and collarbone from the dragon attack that took her parents. She keeps them glamoured when able and looks at them as little as possible.
F A M I L Y
Parents
Hermine Fauconnier Her roegadyn mother; the seneschal and right hand woman of House Laussienne, Hermine was in charge of its books, employees, and trade logistics, and her service in return won her family as stable, secure, and comfortable a lifestyle as a lowborn could wish for outside of the Church. Deceased.
Renaut Fauconnier Her hyuran father; a chirurgeon formerly of the Hospitaliers who transitioned into rural medicine as a traveling physician once he tired of the battlefield. Deceased.
Perette de Laussienne Her adoptive elezen mother; the head of House Laussienne and a shark in the waters of Ishgard's nobility who raised Estelle like she was her own daughter. For better or worse, Perette taught her much of what she knows. Deceased.
Siblings
Verain de Laussienne Estelle's adoptive brother. While they had a good relationship in their youth, a wedge formed not long into their teenage years when it became clear his mother's favor rested with a lowborn halfbreed. Still alive and currently head of House Laussienne, having been unceremoniously handed the reins when Estelle suddenly left Ishgard -- a fact that has done nothing to repair the rift between them.
Grandparents
None still living.
In-laws and Other
Over time, Estelle develops no shortage of family-like relations: Edmont, who regards her as a daughter; Alphinaud and Alisaie and Ryne, the little siblings she never had; the Scions, living together like a colony of stray cats. (And, though this is quite far in the future and something she would not want to think too much about even then, Lyna would technically be her daughter-in-law. The absolute dawning horror the first time Lyna calls her "grandmother" as a jest.)
Pets
Animals tend to like Estelle more than Estelle likes the concept of caring for an animal long-term, especially with how much she travels. The absolute closest she comes to owning a pet is spoiling the Rising Stones' resident ratcatchers.
S K I L L S
Abilities
Arcanima The cornerstone of her combat abilities and field "healing" (more like Preventative Medicine), which branches out into Allagan summoning as she spends the years between Heavensward and Dawntrail refining equations based on primal waveforms.
Medicine This includes everything in the typical Eorzean chirurgeon's skillset -- everything from general practice to surgery to autopsy is on the table (hah) -- as well as an alchemical background to synthesize and administer basic pharmacological treatments.
"Politics" The catch-all umbrella for her social skillset, Estelle relishes the networking, information gathering, and strategic maneuvering required to throw one's weight around in powerful circles.
Hobbies
Languages Though the Echo translates for her, it's still a rare and special skill regarded with suspicion in most corners of the world. Estelle enjoys picking up what she can of the local language in her travels to put people more at ease, especially as she wanders out to more rural locations.
Sketching/watercolors A skill picked up in a previous relationship, though her fondness for it far outlived her fondness for her lover. She finds it relaxing to draw and paint the sights in her travels, and she keeps extensive journals.
Cooking A domestic skill cultivated to a high level in the interest of being a "good wife" in her youth, turned into something of an obsession for learning new foods and techniques as she travels the world. Estelle delights in any occasion she has access to a stove and the opportunity to set a lively table.
Piano All young ladies of good breeding learn the arts during their education, and Estelle is no exception, though the piano is the only instrument that stuck. She enjoys playing when she finds the time, and a piano to actually play on.
"New skills" Estelle takes any opportunity to throw herself into doing something badly for the simple joy of trying something new. Most attempts to train for more physical skills like archery and swordplay fall under this category: things she'll likely never take seriously, but she enjoys using these moments to build new connections and relationships with her teachers.
T R A I T S
Most Positive Trait: Her friendliness. Estelle finds it natural to move into the lives of others and share their spaces, joys, grief, and problems; if she doesn't find success, it certainly isn't for a cold demeanor and lack of goodwill.
Most Negative Trait: Oh we've got a whole answer for this one. There is only so much friendliness can accomplish when Estelle does not accept the vulnerability of real connection.
L I K E S
Colors: Contrary to her severely black and mostly monochrome wardrobe, Estelle most enjoys dramatic, rich jewel tones and soft pastels.
Smells: The complex layers of an expensive, well-made perfume; fresh-cut jonquils; the chaos of food stalls in an open-air market; aspen woods in a crisp, fresh snow
Textures: Soft furs; the inner lining of a favorite pair of gloves; the smooth gloss of lacquered wood; the weighted feedback of ivory piano keys.
Drinks: A glass of well-aged dry red wine; coffee in the Ul'dahn style, unfiltered and highly sweetened, flavored with cardamom; Ishgardian tea, strong black leaves dressed with bergamot, steeped directly in hot milk and sweetened with buckwheat honey.
O T H E R D E T A I L S
Smokes: Yes, infrequently, and never socially; in times of high stress, she will smoke exactly one (1) cigarette when alone and thinking very deeply on something she wish she did not have to think deeply about, or when she needs to aggressively work over a problem in her mind. She's picky about her tobacco and prefers a Hannish clove-spiced blend. (Her case holds 20 cigarettes and the only time she's had to refill it because she's simply run out is during Endwalker.)
Drinks: Yes! All the time. I imagine Ishgard has a very robust drinking culture woven into most social rituals (alcohol features more prominently in Heavensward than nearly any other expansion except perhaps Endwalker) and Estelle is a very social creature. Of course there's an aperitif! And of course there is a glass or two of wine with dinner. And of course there must be a digestif. And of course there will be a nightcap as the evening winds down. She likely consumes more alcohol in a year than the rest of the Scions combined, and that includes that era where Thancred was getting trashed regularly to avoid coping with the Lahabrea situation. That said, she very rarely drinks alone, and almost never drinks with the intention to get inebriated.
Drugs: Nothing hard, but if someone hands her a bhang thandai during a festival in Radz-at-Han she's not going to turn it down.
Mount Issuance: For the same reasons Estelle doesn't keep a pet, she also doesn't keep a mount; she prefers to take carriages and ferries and airships, ride along with caravans, or rent chocobos. When she needs a pair of wings or to go somewhere she would feel guilty bringing a live animal, she relies on the sliver of his aether that Midgardsormr left with her to summon his form much the same way she might summon an egi.
Been Arrested: Estelle has spent most of her life being a law-abiding citizen. The amount of laws she's broken in the line of duty has spiked rather dramatically since joining the Scions, of course, as it turns out that subversive operations and overthrowing heads of state is illegal in those states, but good luck arresting her.

WoL QotD by a_distant_blue (source)
For Auri Wols/Ocs, do you have any headcanon Auri lore about your beloved lizard, or Au Ra in general? Tell me all about it. Tails, scales, horns, sheds. What are your hcs about Auri communities? Lizard babies? I need to know!
(I pull out an enormous binder and spill half of its contents on the floor) Yeah maybe
The main one is that I am a true “Au Ra are related to dragons actually” believer, but I also imagine the connection to be distant enough that they’ve pretty much become their own thing
Additional headcanons:
They they naturally have fangs (in a variety of configurations) and claws (though some cultures/individuals tend to file them down)
They have their own set of beauty standards around scale patterns that non-Au Ra can’t seem to wrap their heads around
Small Au Ra kids often hold their caregiver’s tail instead of their hand (especially convenient when the caregiver in question might be 7+ feet tall)
I imagine them molting like birds rather than shedding like snakes, where whole scales will fall out as the new ones grow in
They can make a few unique sounds, like the kinds of growling and hissing you hear from movie dinosaurs. These aren’t a necessary part of the Steppe Auri language, but can be layered on top of it for extra emphasis/flare (mostly used for rolled r’s, or ‘s’ and ‘kh’ sounds)
Extra non-ear horns are uncommon but definitely not unheard of, and most people consider them a sign of strength/good luck/etc. People also consider them pretty, to the point of developing a whole category of jewelry intended to evoke the look of extra horns
A quick addendum to the horn one is that the legend says the hero Bardam had extra horns. How MANY extra horns depends on how hard the storyteller you’re asking wants to go at the time. The numbers can get pretty ridiculous
Helping someone clean and care for hard-to-reach scales is often used as a casual bonding activity and an opportunity to hang out and gossip (similar vibe to painting someone’s nails)
Oh speaking of scales here’s a Finch-specific one:
Finch’s “birthmark” (the white shape on his forehead) is actually a collection of scales that didn’t quite form right. They’re smaller and don’t have any pigment. Thankfully they don’t bother him, they just look a bit unusual

Recruitable NPC - Pavi Maalhi
Tumblr media
In the style of the Dragon Age series.
Name: Pavi Maalhi
Alternate Name or Alias?: N/A
Race & Job: Meracydian Keeper of the Moon (yes, there's a distinction), Summoner
Nickname: None.
Default Tarot Card: The Hierophant
Do they have the Echo? If so, how did they discover it?: No echo.
How/where does the WoL meet them?: Mor Dhona - Revenants Toll, within the Warring Triad questline. In order to understand the events of the past and a possible way to stop the Warring Triad she is unhappily recruited as a consultant. Pavi collaborates with the Warrior of Light to show them how the Eikons were captured by the Allagans, eventually pleading that they are no longer used for selfish purposes and freed from their shackles.
How are they recruited into the Scions?: Once the Warring Triad questline is concluded, Pavi happens to not be removing herself from The Rising Stones, citing bed and board as a form of payment for her much-needed assistance. With her melancholy state and homesickness, no-one quite has the gall to tell her to leave and thus she's assimilated as if she were always there.
Romanceable?: Somewhat. If the WoL in question has a distaste for any tribes that praise primals they lose a large amount of affinity with Pavi. In order to fully romance Pavi you must complete her timed quest (of course). Failure to do so will also lose her as an NPC and eventually finding her in a horrid, withered half-mangled state within the Rising Stones. This quest entails further assisting in studying her 'tempering', or what ails her. Upon completion, the WoL is given an option that is finally reciprocated romantically from the Keeper.
Where they are in the open world:
(As a Scion): Most times, Pavi can be found assisting Urianger with his studies in the current HQ. During the Warring Triad questline she is found exclusively with Unukalhai and passively acts as a form of caretaker, seemingly quite alike in their personality and goals.
(As a NPC): Seemingly, Pavi pops up nearly everywhere. It's not quite like she's following the WoL, but it certainly does seem odd. Any major questlines that are on the Source that involve disruptive aether seems to have a certain Keeper loitering around the nearest settlement.
Default saying:
(As a Scion): “Greetings, great traveller. I am pleased to see you without an entourage."
(As a NPC): Despondent, rhythmical humming.
What do they typically do off-screen?: Cleansing cursed places, acquiring items of suspected import, tending to the sick and wounded.
Things they Generally Approve of:
Assisting any of the Spoken Tribes.
Allowing her to tend to any afflictions.
Any food items (gifted).
If the WoL speaks to her on Fisher (FSH) class, they will get a small unseen affinity boost.
Things they Generally Disapprove of:
Any attempt to justify Allagan actions.
Transgressions towards Spoken Tribes.
Disturbance of the natural order in nature.
Are they in a Grand Company? Which one?: Given Pavi comes from pastures quite far away (see: Meracydia), not only does she have little to no concept of Grand Companies & she certainly would not be willing to join one.
Friends:
Within the Scions: Pavi finds Urianger utterly fascinating, despite the fact it took her far too long to understand what he was saying. Her relationship with Thancred started off on the wrong foot however, seeing him mature upon the conclusion of events of the First, the two managed to reconcile. Pavi and Estinien share the simple bond of being outsiders amongst people and Tataru is always favoured due to her caring nature of others.
Outside the Scions:
Sylvain Greystone - Pavi's consistent companion. While the vigilante does not appear to be entirely talkative, she seems somewhat unwilling to leave his side.
Bopa Greso - Despite being close in age, Bopa is seen a pseudo-sibling. Bonding over the fact that the two are Meracydian, they seem to be rather questioning of Eorzea and assisting one another in acclimatising to it's oddness compared to home. You can guarantee there is some form of 'trouble' when the two are found near.
Sidequests: The WoL begins a long series of time-gated sidequests when Pavi confides in her struggles, eventually leading down a rabbit-hole of investigations before eventually saving her and her people within Meracydia. On in-game special events, Pavi can be invited to Fishing & Cooking, in which she will reveal small details about her life before presenting the WoL with a traditionally specialised dish used for celebrations.
Potential tarot card changes:
If accepted into the Scions: The Hierophant (Reversed)
If romanced by WoL: The Star
If not recruited/kept as an adventurer: Judgement
Thank you for the tag: @kich-rp and @mhachiavellian
Tagging: @thefreelanceangel @green-word-deserter @sundered-soul @huntinghare @under-the-blood-moonlight @captainkurosolaire @idanwyn-et-al @miqojak @blucifermain

{ ALRIGHT DARLINGS, this here is a Shipping/Verse Call for Dove and/or Enyo! Let me know in replies, DMs, or Discord what kind of ship and/or verse you're looking for! This is a fantastic way to break the ice. Under the cut I'll list a few verses I already have, or want to have, as ideas if you're eyeing this but not sure where to start. }
v; broken harmony - Enyo verse.
This verse is designed for a “soulmates” scenario, either in the present day of Hydaelyn - two WoLs, each sharing half of Azem’s soul - or in the past of Etheirys, where it allows both parties to play Azem. As it’s a shared ‘verse, it’s highly adaptable; if you’re intrigued by the idea but want to tweak it, I encourage you to hit me up.
v; birds of a feather - Dove verse
Shared between Dove, Grim, and Lenneldain, the three Arch Rogues form the core of the Warriors of Light. Also a ship.
Emperor Dove verse - Wishlist Dove verse
Want an ancient dragon who keeps marrying the black sheep scions of various royal lineages, and accidentally became the Imperial Father of most of the known world because their spouses keep [accidentally] following the draconic tradition of offering their crown as a proposal gift? An older, more mature version of Dove who will absolutely throw down to protect what's theirs.
Maiko Dove verse - Wishlist Dove verse
What if, instead of becoming a pirate, Dove was immediately found by their biological father and, as the child of a rich merchant, was sent to Kugane to apprentice as a maiko and eventual geiko? Slightly older [call it 20ish] when they arrive in Eorzea, this version of Dove hides their bitey chaotic nature behind a veneer of perfect manners.

Finished MSQ and Panda raids and I am…exhausted. Half-coherent thoughts under cut, starting with MSQ:
- There are honestly very few characters that would have Odzaya lookiiiing with any active interest. Big Boy Vershahn became one of them. I was already liking the idea of some chemistry between them in his true dragon form but his appearance as a grown Au Ra? Girly did a double take (first at his voice, then again at his transformation), and that’s a feat. Also adore the fact that the avatar was a loving surprise from Vrtra’s Thavnairian family. What a fantastic community they are my heart grew three sizes just from those cutscenes.
- Troia was awesome; loved the castle, especially the terrace area with all those pretty shiny flowers. Talking to the voidsent was also a hoot, especially that one that kept pep-talking itself about not eating you. I appreciate the acknowledgment that we’re canonically delicious to behold.
- Zero is interesting! Looking forward to seeing where they go with her and her story; her presence and role was a thing I was not expecting. But she’s neat and I’m glad she’s with us, ready to learn about love and friendship and all that good stuff.
- Neeeed to free Azdaja; my heart sank when I thought they were confirming she had already died. She looks gorgeous, too, can’t wait to see her in all her glory. Golbez is looking to be pretty interesting himself; anticipating how they blend him and his motivations into XIV’s storyscape.
- Speaking of, loved all the FFIV goodness; I never finished the game (I will remedy that eventually) but I got far enough along to recognize Scar and Barb, and their roles and fights (especially Barb’s) were super fun. Also loved the music, very hype-inducing.
- Okay, but can the WoL get a room in the Megaduta too??? That apartment was gorgeous.
- Panda raids holy cow what an episode of Jerry Springer that was. Honestly I’m on the fence about the story; this tier took it in a direction I didn’t expect (a bigger emphasis on the family drama than I thought there would be, I guess, and not enough on the Panda facility and it’s inner workings and goings-on), and I’m still deciding how much I like it. It was entertaining enough, at least. No clue what’s going on with that cliffhanger, though, and at that point I was so tired I just tilted my head, went “huh” and took Odzaya to bed lol. Looking forward to seeing how it all comes together.
- While the raid story was fine enough, the fights were definitely the highlight. Loved P5 with the twisted carbuncle, and P7 lit my ass up (had a great group, though, so it was still fun). It’s always the plants that make the most hardcore battles, I swear. The music was fantastic, the themes for this raid are definitely some of the best from this expansion. Good good stuff.
Overall a satisfying enough patch, especially gameplay-wise. A lot of the battles this patch were a ton of fun for me, with some great tunes to match. Also adult Vershahn. Definitely a highlight.

It’s true, it is. I’m not practicing trancing. On instinct, my body turns away to hide the grimace my face is forming at the half-lie. I know it’s as good a tell, apa tells me so every time, but I can’t help it.
My entire body hurts so much. Every bruise on my body is feels self-inflicted. The flames across my chest sear deeper with every breath like they’re branding my actual fuckin lungs. Even my head is pounding, still trying to see through seven sets of fuckin.. ghost eyes; ghost eyes that suddenly don’t exist anymore and now I can’t tell which amount of eyes is worse. My leg screams in frustration, spiking out from the spider bite despite whatever Maelo did to it.
Whatever Maelo did to it.
Whatever Maelo did to it.
Because he’s alive again.
Alive and trying to help. To fix things. Trying to fix our mess when we made it and making everything worse I mean look at Kana and Ace they’re so angry and hurting so much which means so are Cog and Adiane and Dennis is so brave but I know he’s hurting and scared and needs our help and I know he doesn’t care but Jack keeps wanting to talk and I don’t know what I’m going to say I just need to see Nilos and I feel bad cause I’m happy to see Maelo he was my friend he still is he helped me bury-
I said something. I know I did cause he would’ve followed me over here if I hadn’t. I must have said something. The thought follows, as Wol says. Which means I must have also walked over here. Makes sense: I was next to Maelo a second ago and now I’m leaning heavily against some dragon bones. It’s covered in goo but, hey, so am I. Besides, I can see everyone from here.
Everyone is safe. They’re fighting. That’s normal. They’re alive. My hand feels gently along my legs, on autopilot picking up a bone shard to root around in various stabs and rips, making sure there’s nothing big in there that shouldn’t be. Bone discarded, they start pressing harder, pushing bones and muscles back into place. Rubbing circles on new knobbly bits until they feel smooth. The process repeats on my arms.
My hands.
My chest.
My back.
My spine.
My neck.
My skull.
The bruises will fade in time, I’ve learned. Usually. Anything inflicted by one of these gods will stay. The scars and burns and colored marks have always stayed, but that’s good for business.
It’s good. I think. This way of fixing myself after a fight. No one’s noticed, and when they look they don’t care. Ace thinks I’m just rolling my muscles out after a workout. He’s not wrong. It’s relaxing, at any rate. I feel better afterwards. My chest is tighter, every step hurts, and the fuckin pressure behind my eyes is getting worse, but this slows it down. I’m fine.
A quick thirty minutes, and I can go again. I can do this all day.
I haven’t slept since we woke up. I can’t afford to. I don’t have the time. None of us do, but the others get their rest in. I make sure of it. They need their magic back. They need to be ready for the end. Cog needs to be ready-
I didn’t lie. I’m not practicing my trance. I remember trancing. It wasn’t this. It wasn’t. When this is all over, I’ll trance again, under the cherry blossom tree in the backyard, just like we did way back when. It’ll be nice, I think. My entire body won’t be hurting.
It won’t be this.
I. I won’t be this.

I got BG3 for Christmas!
Katina, my OC that my WoL is based on and that I still use as a D&D character, is a half-dragon (mom was a dragon, dad was a human). She's SUPPOSED to look like a human with dragon wings and a tail, and for simplicity sake I use the Dragonborn race as a template when I play D&D. Well, Dragonborn are available in BG3, but they're limited to the very dragony looking bipeds. At least I could still have blue scales with the gold breath weapon!
So here's Dragonborn Katina. And I grabbed a pic of how she'd appear as a human too. Technically, the way she was originally written, she can shapeshift between these forms at will anyway. (How else do you expect fire breath? From a human mouth? Ouch!)
And for those of you wondering why I didn't choose to make her an Au-Ra in FFXIV... sorry but I just don't like how that race looks for my idea of "half-dragon." I wouldn't even be allowed the right scale color! Highlander was my compromise, because even though a minimum height Highlander is too tall (she's supposed to be like 5'3") they're at least beefy enough to look like a trained warrior/someone with dragon ancestry compared to Midlanders.

Character Master Post
Welcome to my messy, unorganized FFXIV blog where I post about my characters, such as:
WoL and Friends
Fjola Miret-njer(Viera)- WoL(Warrior of Light), adventurer, blorbo supreme. Fucked around and found out with Bahamut's aether, has a draconic tail+scales because of it. Currently banging with Y'shtola Rhul of the Scions.
Nebula(Voidsent)- Fjola's voidsent companion. Has bound herself to the memory crystal received from Drusilla in order to exist on the Source. Appears ghostlike but with effort, can coalesce into a physical form(size depends on aether reserves). Curious, flirtatious and down bad for "mortal sensations"(read as: loves having sex).
Azem Sylvia(Ancient)- The biggest bisexual in the history of Etheirys. Was very much in love with Venat. Good friends with Hythlodaeus, okay friends with Hades(according to her). Is the reason why rabbits exist.
Bluebird No. 12(Allagan android, miqo'te)- Not much is known about this old automaton. She claims to have been manufactured in the Syrcus Tower by Amon, as a means to scout the Void. One can't help but ponder the similarities to a certain other blue bird...
Ekiki "Boss-Girl" Eki(Lalafell)- An "independent" mechanic and engineer, currently "in collaboration" with Garlond Ironworks(read as: shows up unannounced and works with them sometimes). She has tasked herself with the maintenance and monitoring of Bluebird, fascinated by her advanced technology.
Peppy Bit(Artificial intelligence)- A small support machine built by Ekiki. Peppy is small but suited for many variable situations, ranging from simple medical assistance to covering fire.
House Pamisoloux
Elvide Pamisoloux(mixed, Elezen/Hyur)- Last living member of her bloodline. Extremely bubbly and energetic, she does her best to hide the fact she struggles every day to maintain her family estate. In a relationship with Viola and Emma.
Viola Pamisoloux(mixed, Elezen/Hyur)- Maid of the Pamisoloux estate and first partner of Elvide and later Emma. Somewhat stoic, formally cold and hard to read, yet kind and warm underneath. Due to her mother having been sickly, Viola was born very small and suffers from aether deficiency. Briefly known as the serial killer "Noble-Hunter" in her early adulthood.
Emma Pamisoloux(Elezen, half dragon)- Second partner of Elvide and Viola. Victim of kidnapping by an extremist group of heretics, who forced her to drink dragon blood. Lived in Anyx Trine with Vidofnir until the Dragonsong War ended, then returned to Ishgard where she chanced upon Elvide and Viola who took her in from the streets. Very anxious and self-conscious of her draconic features.
Landrenel("Elezen", voidsent)- Butler of the Pamisoloux family. In truth a voidsent merely in the guise of an old Elezen man, he has served the family -literally from the shadows- for countless years.
Juniper(mixed, Elezen/Hyur)- A former sky pirate and one of two surviving members of the Royal Oaks. Brief history with being a sex worker and bodyguard after the destruction of their family crew, they now work for the Pamisoloux estate, helping with house chores and other errands.
Honeydew(Hyur)- The second surviving member of the sky pirate crew Royal Oaks and Juniper's girlfriend. Dreams of being a fashion designer but works for the Pamisoloux estate with Juniper for now. Gets along very well with Viola due to their shared interest of designing and making cute clothes.
The Sable Starlet
Stella Scintilla(Miqo'te)- Owner, manager and Mistress of the pleasure house "The Sable Starlet" in Ul'dah. Born into poverty, she spent most of her life as a thief and sex worker, until eventually ending up in the Coliseum. There, she amassed a fortune under the name "Abigail, Thief of the Wind" and with said fortune, retired from fighting to start her own business. She prioritizes the security and wellbeing of her workers, the Starlets, above all else- thus guaranteeing high quality services for any client who can meet her price. Should disputes over pricing arise, she will personally provide discounted(and overall lesser) services. Further disrespect to the establishment will result in malcontents being removed from the premises.
Cherry Cloudberry(Miqo'te)- Head chef of the Sable Starlet. The very first hire of the establishment, she used to only work in the kitchen until offering to become Stella's first Starlet; a decision that would end up being extremely profitable. She remains one of the most popular girls of the house and has garnered much respect from her fellow workers and regular clients alike.
Bloody River(Roegadyn)- Stella's ex-boyfriend and partner-in-crime from the Coliseum days. Together, they rigged their matches to put on a spectacular show and split the profits. River found his way to the Sable Starlet some time after it's reputation spread and was shocked to find his former lover running the place. Stella offered him a job as a bouncer which he gladly carries out to this day. River barely demands pay for the job and claims that enjoying the company of the Starlets and Cherry's cooking every day is enough to keep him happy- though Stella can sometimes be seen taking him to her private chambers for a "reward".
In the Far East
Shiori Furukane(Au Ra)- A young woman on a wandering journey. Skilled in magicks and able to summon a water-aspected serpentine familiar. Having lived in Kugane for a time, she knows the city like the back of her hand and is locally known for being very helpful towards anyone in need.
Manami Furukane(Au Ra)- Shiori's mother, who lives in Sui-no-Sato beneath the Ruby Sea. Having lost her husband as a casualty of war, she raised Shiori as a single mother. Recently, the spark of romance has been rekindled and she is dating another woman from the village.
Otoha(Furukane)(Au Ra)- A young Xaela with a rare skin condition that results in a loss of pigmentation and turns scales into feather-like protrusions. Exiled from the Steppe with her mother for being seen as an ill omen, she was orphaned at a young age and has grown up on the streets of Kugane. Through a chance meeting she is adopted by Shiori as her sister, while also making the acquaintance of Agnes. Though not fluent in Hingan, she does her best to learn.
Agnes(Viera)- A clothier and survivor of tempering by Leviathan. She is currently journeying with Shiori and Otoha throughout the Far East. Curious but somewhat reserved, she is endlessly fascinated by the myriad cultures of Etheirys, always making notes in her diary. Agnes is hopelessly infatuated with Otoha, though she has yet to work up the nerve to talk about it.
Momoko Oyama(Miqo'te)- A single mother and private sex worker, living a relatively simple and uneventful life with her daughter. A skilled dancer with a surprisingly deft sword arm as well, she is more than capable of defending her family should the need arise. She has a history with aiding underground rebel groups and still maintains contact with a few surviving members.
Umeko Oyama(Miqo'te)- Momoko's daughter. Has a fondness for grape juice. Mercilessly pats down clients and visitors to the house to check for weapons or harmful substances.
Sakiko/Murasaki(Hyur)- A young woman with a burning hatred for the Garlean Empire. Sacrificed her right arm to form a pact with a demon, gaining supernatural strength and the demon's unfortunate companionship. Operating under the name "Murasaki", she terrorized and slaughtered many a Garlean squadron whenever and wherever she had the chance. With the Empire's fall, she has lost her purpose and whiles away her days in idleness, occasionally hunting down wanted criminals. A regular client of Momoko's, she often pays extra to support Umeko's future.
(Oni-no-)Yamamura(Demon?)- Sakiko's demonic companion and the source of her strength. Though annoyed or indifferent at first, the pair have grown somewhat fond of each other's company. Yamamura delights in endlessly teasing Sakiko, calling her "Saki-chan".

10 fandoms 10 characters tag game
rules: name 10 of your favorite characters from 10 different fandoms, then tag 10 people (i wont do that)
tagged by @lolotr almost a month ago. it took me a while to get to this, half because i kept forgetting and half because i legitimately struggled to come up with ten different fandoms i can claim to be in, but whos going to pass up a chance to rave about their blorbos
Final Fantasy XIV Online (FFXIV) - i love so many of the characters from this game. its not hard, the game is designed to make you love them. they feel like real people, especially in the last two expansions which emphasized their relationships with each other and with the wol (aka the player character). its difficult to choose one favorite but if i have to id say its gotta be alisaie leveilleur. despite not being relevant to the main story until the second expansion, her character is so rich and compelling. shes just a girl who wants to understand why her beloved grandpa left her to save a bunch of strangers, and she also wants to find out who she is and become her own person out of her familys (and especially her brothers) shadow. she also likes violence and explosions and how can you not enjoy that in a girl. unlike a lot of people who like alisaie, i also love alphinaud, and i love the way they interact. alisaie is my preferred twin but only by a slim margin. you can blame the backwards ass way i played this game for the fact that i love alphinaud even in 2.0
Marvel Comics - obviously its loki laufeyson! name a bitch more iconic. canonically genderfluid since 2014. your doomed by the narrative fave. raised by a father and a society that hated them for who they were, forced into the role of a villain to juxtapose their brother who was the only person to ever believe they could be more, at least until he didnt. killed and ate and burned themselves over and over to become something new. literally broke free from the narrative to become their best self but still a morally dubious shithead trickster in any (well written) form. my absolute blorbo of all time, dm me for a reading list
Norse Mythology - loki laufeyson again lolol. name. a bitch. more. iconic. canonically genderfluid since the viking age. born from a forest fire after lightning struck a tree. canonically hot but in a fucked up and dangerous way. odin was like "whos this hot weirdo" and decided they were brothers. your ultimate doomed by the narrative baddie. prophesied to end the universe. the god of fucking around and finding out. there are so few verifiable facts about this bitch, he is a complete enigma even among the rest of norse mythology which is already so fractured and weird. we straight up dont know how, why, or even IF he was actually worshipped. hes the only god to not have a single village dedicated to him. there are, like, two or three runestones depicting him. snorri made him into a jesus figure in the eddas but he serves so much cunt that he is repeatedly misinterpreted as literal satan. your fave could never.
LegendLark/Dames and Dragons - this is another difficult one because the characters are all so great, but im giving it to laika because i have a funny story about it. my first listen through i was in the middle of the gray manacle arc when i started asking myself who my favorite was. i decided it was laika literally the episode before she leaves 🥹
Dungeons and Daddies - i feel like my favorite should be scary, as someone who was once a goth/emo teen girl. however im gonna have to give it to my boi normally lee oak-swallows-garcia, the perky peppy chipper cheery mixed up mascot who doesnt know who he is anymore. imagine knowing your parents are disappointed with you at like, 14. imagine inheriting a generational curse except its a literal eldritch curse that you cant do anything about. imagine connecting with the mind of an incomprehensible eldritch being that is killing your reality out of loneliness and fear and hatred and deciding to show kindness.
The Locked Tomb - probably an obvious pick but its gotta be gideon nav. shes your butch sword lesbian. shes your jock trapped in a science convention. shes your tragic unloved child. shes your doomed by the narrative/came back wrong double threat. shes everything to me.
Paranatural - im not actually current, unfortunately. ever since zack changed formats ive found it difficult to read. i understand why they decided to do it the new way, but my attention span is simply not long enough. eventually i will catch up probably maybe. that said, my favorite is of course max. i just love how sassy and exasperated he is. he literally didnt ask for any of this shit. like he just moved to a new town where he doesnt know anyone and suddenly theres ghosts and he has to join an organization to fight them and his bat has a monster inside of it and he almost gets run over by a train, how fucking exhausted must this kid be all the time
Hunter X Hunter - its the only anime on the list baybee. i thought about including others but none are super current and hxh is the one that i still feel strongly about. my fave from hxh is the one, the only, killua zoldyck. my son. my angel. my precious catboy murder child. a boy who was tortured by his own family and trained to not care about other people and who was so lonely he latched onto the first boy his age that hed ever met. he is so full of love and he would do anything for his best friend, including kill people, but to be fair he would also kill people for literally any other reason
The Wheel of Time - my most recent experience with wot was rereading the eye of the world in preparation for the amazon show, which was a huge letdown for me and a lot of fans of the books. my last experience with it before that was when i was, like, 12. as a kid my favorite character was egwene, and now my favorite is...still egwene. she is a strong, confident young woman who knows what she wants and doesnt shy away from going after it. shes very strong-willed and doesnt bend to the will of others, she is unrepentantly herself. she also reads very heavily as a lesbian despite being in a (rather annoying imo) het romance with the mc. i dont think this was intentional (given the aforementioned het romance) so i wouldnt call it coding but like. shes a young adult who eschews traditional female roles and aspires to be unmarried and spend her time with other women how ELSE am i supposed to read that
Homestuck - very much NOT a current fandom, but it defined a great deal of my life, so i feel like it should be included. my favorite for this one may be the most difficult to predict, or maybe not idk, but its kanaya maryam. i remember the first time i was reading, waiting for my patron troll to pop up, and it was her. at first i paid attention to her just for that, but i fell in love with her pretty fast. i have a thing for female characters who go through arcs of self discovery and learning to value themselves outside of the opinions of others. something about starting out thinking youre a prop for other people and ending as a whole ass person is so *chefs kiss* also shes sassy and wields a chainsaw which is badass. i personally think her arc fell flat and she was underutilized in the end, but shes hardly the only one that got overlooked tbfh
im not tagging anyone mostly because i have no idea who i would tag. if youre reading this and want to do it, please do!

Endwalker commentary - part 4
SPOILERS. Buncha stuff between 5th zone and 6th zone, but not quite making it to the 6th
Elpis leftovers
So Meteion’s answer is that everyone else in the stars strived to do their best and got wrecked and thus - not existing is preferable to the suffering that awaits. Extreme downer. I hold out hope that the one Meteion we met will come back in some shape or form
Hermes is. Just a very depressed individual. :(
Tumblr media
Man Venat is so badass. Since she put a tracker in Meteion I now wonder if the final zone is like...the edge of the universe. Idk how we’d get there but ahaha
And then everyone forgot everything - except WOL and Venat! As Hydaelyn, I wonder if she’s waiting for the WOL to execute her plan?
....oh this is. Really depressing. Emet and Hyth’s last moment in Amaurot before he gets zonked. Zodiark protecting the world by shrouding it in aether, keeping dynamis away. Ascians making things worse with their OP creation magic.
And blind faith being bad...better to rely on yourselves, each other, and what’s real. To not turn away from suffering, and to not fall for false dreams of paradise. OH HOLY SHIT Venat really just like, removed everyone’s powers?? By herself?
:( aghhhhhhhh
Tumblr media
Garlemald again
Yup, world burning down in the meantime! Thavnairian refugees, Garlemald and the final days? That. Sounds bad.
The Garleans coming to the aid of the refugees. Brings a tear to my eye.
Uhhhh HOT DAMN GRAHA....wtf. Why didn’t I have an awakening in SHB. Why is it EW, why now. Many questions, no answers, just a stupid cat boy.
Lmao WOL slow cool walk into the battlefield. I cringe.
Hmmm. Maybe the vessel to deliver people to the moon...is in the 2nd half of Labyrinthos. But it gets repurposed to bring me to Meteion?
ZENOS???????
Ohh...this confrontation between Jullus and Zenos. Man, Zenos is such a clown and I love him for it but oof, the pain.
You tell him Alisae. Ahaha, he just exits stage left tho. What a stupid boss.
Estinien and Dad Leveilleur, a combo I never knew I wanted.
Ohhhgod what are the loporitts and Urianger in his STUPID BACKBEARING OUTFIT IN THE COLD doing here. Puddingway, god damnit. But anyway with the rabbits here...shenanigans are sure to follow.
Tumblr media
Labyrinthos part 2
I love Sharlayan grandpa. Charlemagne. Champagne.
Ahaha Kokkol is a riot. Also the aetherburner is literally just, a car engine. Aether go boom.
......Hhfdsfkl HAHAHA HOW MANY TIMES. How many times will Alphinaud’s skill of “gathering firewood” come into use. How many times will we be saved by this. He needs to write that down on his resume.
Tumblr media
Watching all of the city-states answering the scions call...yesss. The music adjusting to each realm. Ala Mhigans helping Gridania. Dragons and Ishgard. The poetry in motion.
Urianger has carrot-trauma pwahaha, but helping the Loporitts talk with the engineers is a nice change in pace!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thancred gazing upon his husband in soft adoration. No, I’m not seeing something that’s not there. Nope. Yup.
HUUUUUGGG. UGHHH. This made me tear up for the first time. Camera whips around to his exposed back and I’m like, GDI, this shit is too moving but gdi. Urianger.
...hmm. Akasa, and prayer. Prayer, and primals, and transformation. Dynamis and blasphemies. It’s all related somehow, in a deeper way, I feel.
Interesting musings from G’raha and the qualities Amon shared with Hermes. It does seem that certain aspects of the soul transfer between them, even in lieu of the memories.
Sicard my beloved
BwWAHHH EVERYONE COMING TOGETHER TO HELP AGAIN. Ten million cameos and I love each and every one.
AWww...Fourchenault reconciling. Finally.
Tumblr media
Aitiascope
Memories of the deceased? This sounds promising!
Ah. Ilberd and Lousoix. (Also, the boss music is so good)
Moenbryda. ;_; (...GRAHA STOP SAYING “HOLD STILL” How many times have you said it now)
....Hauchefaunt. MINFILIA.
Seeing Shiva gave me actual shivers. :<
Herme’s voice actor is so good. Honestly, so many great voice performances. Where did square find all of these low and rumbling voices because I. I am deceased.
So when souls get recycled and cleansed, concealed memories become revealed and oft show themselves in future lives as vague dreams - memories that are seared deep into the soul. Zenos has this going on too - I wonder who he was? Hyth didn’t know who he was.
ASAHI????!!!!!?? Um, I guess...the two of them are gonna go torture each other forever.
Oh interesting I can do this trial with trust. Uhh I hope this doesn’t KILL Hydaelyn?
Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ummmmmmm
Tumblr media
.....Ghhhskdjf the scope of the story and what’s at stake. I’m reeling. I have nothing to say other than, one final push and it’ll all be over.

So having finished out Endwalker msq (though I need a few more pieces of gear to take on Pandaemonium) I am. So incredibly amused by all these stupid coincidences of having narrative resonance with a character initially made as a joke. My WoL is Ketter Rami, a catgirl Seeker of the Sun, under the guidance of Azeyma. I started as a lancer in Gridania, and I main Dragoon/play that thru msq.
So take a wild guess at the basic coincidences I’m laughing at. I somehow picked all the Sun aligned options on a whim, and lo and behold, Azem (the sun) fun. Hell, I went with a blue and yellow eye because Ketter Rami was based off of Cat-Ra. ((Ket)ter- (Ra)mi) You can argue that either eye is her more natural color, and the other is influenced by Hydaelin/her past. Or they’re entirely insignificant, and it just looks cool :p
Obviously, being a dragoon thru Heavensward is gr8. You get to hang out with Estinien who was about ready to kill you a few role quests ago! You keep being his mirror, as he is overcome by the power of Nidhoggs eye, and you borrow Hraesvelgrs to save him. You go wandering around with dragon dad Midgardsormr (<3) who understandably did not trust you at first to carry the burden of protecting this star. His last bastion of hope. You get to fight the Omega, a remnant of what killed his people and chased him across the stars. I legit teared up that 1) dragon dad expended the last of his energy to protect us and 2) he then woke up long enough to give permission to use his scales. HES A DAD OK dragoons are here to fight against or with the dragons and I’m gonna fight for dragon dad
Fighting Ranjiit, in his partial dragon form, as dragoon >:3 Like yes this is my speciality now die. You know the poor WoL was leaning on her spear for half of the Amaurot nonsense, trying to keep the light in. Graha Tia and I look like siblings, with us being ~the same height+red hair. Which is great because I love our sad catboy as a brother, and now we don’t look so lonely in these cutscenes with all these white haired bitches
The wretched body swap in Garlemald, where not only would it be a new body for Ketter to learn, but where the fuck is my goddamn tail to counterbalance me. Why are Garlean ears so shit, wait is this how helmets feel for everyone else. When I got to visit Elpis, one NPC commented on my ears and tail, saying they made it obvious I was a familiar like Meteion. A perfect disguise! Reaching Ultima Thule as a dragoon, and Estinien and I having a quiet convo away from the others about the dragons only we can see, the history we are both too familiar with.
Also I can imagine many fun things about Ketter, like how her tail puffs up or her ears flick back, how I hate most of the metal helmets in the game and how they look with kitty ears but that also tracks because would you trap your ears in a big bell. Awful. She will just forgo that shit.

i’m still on my twewy bullshit except i’ve actually been thinking about a proper twewy au for koharu the basic idea i’m toying with right now is neo twewy/post neo twewy being the focus of the verse.
Tumblr media
koharu dying at 19 as a kind of parallel to this being when she joined the doman liberation front in xiv canon & the start of her major canon personality changes essentially being the metaphorical ‘death’ of her as a child.
Tumblr media
she comes from a family of politicians (a parallel to being from a samurai family), which is why her honor and sense of justice are so important to her, thus her entry fee is her morality (which affects both). because of their political leaning and the changes they were pushing for in government, koharu’s parents — and koharu herself — were murdered in a fire (a parallel to the razing of doma + her parents’ deaths) that was disguised as an accident. when she wakes in the reaper’s game without them, she seeks justice for their deaths (literally her motive for stormblood) — until her entry fee is taken, anyway.
Tumblr media
her psych is a positive-aligned shockwave-type that manifests as a bokken. during the events of her game(s), she primarily utilized the kanesada pin. during neo she primarily uses the tenka mikazuki pin. jotm shockwave pins are named after famous katana, so her affinity for them is a nod to her main class being samurai. as a nod to koharu’s favoring traditional clothes, her clothing brand preference is ryugu.
Tumblr media
her game participation takes place post-twewy but during the year before the shinjuku reapers take over, around 4 months or so after the events of a new day
Tumblr media
she plays and wins three games*, a parallel to the wol fighting three primals in ARR. she forfeits the same entry fee each time (it’s returned when she wins and then is re-collected when she enters again). each time, she and her partner win but her partner’s score is higher than hers so they get brought back to life and she does not
Tumblr media
* her games are not consecutive weeks the same way neku’s were, but she did play the game three times consecutively. in the og twewy, two consecutive game weeks was implied to be weird and three in a row was unheard of, so this is under the assumption that uzuki was running the game on a one week on/one week off schedule, thus koharu’s games took approximately a month and a half to get through
Tumblr media
though she wins her games, koharu’s score in each game gradually gets worse (another parallel to her character development in xiv canon) and at the end of the third game she opts to become a reaper, having given up on coming back to life and getting justice for her family and herself
Tumblr media
cue the 3 years between twewy an neo twewy! reapers don’t age so koharu stays 19 both physically and mentally
Tumblr media
she starts as a support reaper and gradually works her way up to harrier reaper by the time the events of neo occur. her noise form as a reaper takes the form of a dragon, in reference to her being an au ra in her main canon.
Tumblr media
she has never met the og twewy players, at least not until the events of neo, but is well acquainted with what’s left of the shibuya reapers as well as the refugee reapers from shinjuku. she has heard of the legendary player neku, knows that the chaotic state of shibuya’s ug is because of him, but isn’t familiar with any of his partners
Tumblr media
where she goes from neo is still kind of up in the air. i haven’t decided if she stays a reaper, comes back to life**, or even goes to shinjuku with the shinjuku squad at the end**
Tumblr media
this would have her go the route of either voluntarily giving up her reaper wings or outright having them revoked for betrayal in neo, resulting in her going back to being a player and helping win the game à la twewy beat and neo twewy shoka
Tumblr media
* this would be because she might technically a shinjuku reaper, even if she gained her reaperhood in shibuya, based strictly off the fact that it was likely shiba, shinjuku’s conductor, who made her a reaper in the first place. uzuki as game master probably wouldn’t have had the power to do it and the next one up in the shibuya heirarchy is joshua (given all the officers & shibuya conductor were erased) and he was on time out from the higher plane and likely couldn’t. shiba may have been the only one with the power level high enough to do it at the time

Venting
The Warrior of Light is often forced by the writing to be stoic rather than throwing her weight around or complaining of her lot. And that stoicism is an important part of the character! If WoL indulged too often in scenes like I write here she’d cease to be the character as we know her and indeed might not be considered a bastion of light or even a good person. But sometimes I indulge in picturing if she just went off on someone when they’re being a complete tool.
Emperor Varis zos Galvus raised his hand, clutching at the air as if gripping the nations of the Alliance members seated across from him. “Only then shall we be free!”
Laughter interrupted him, ringing through the tent. It was a high laugh, and pretty, and it came from the technically lowest-ranking person in the entire room. Though perhaps the better term would be, “the person beyond ranking.”
She caught herself, looking about embarrassed as if this were a family gathering and she’d laughed at the blessing of the food rather than a diplomatic meeting on the cusp of war. The laugh was still in her voice as she apologized. “I’m sorry. Sultana. Lord Hien, Lady Seedseer. I know. I just.” She giggled again. Harrumphed herself to attempt seriousness. But by the time she was speaking again she was smiling. “It’s just that everyone here - me, all of you, even Varis - everyone” she waved her hands about “thought the problem we would have between the Alliance and the Empire was going to be a matter of Varis’ immense ambition.”
She looked the Emperor in the eye. “And then he lays out his entire plan and we learn that all our problems stem from his cowardice, his fundamental lack of drive and ambition.”
There was a deathly silence in the room. The Emperor was used to many accusations but this was not one he’d encountered before and he knew enough of statecraft to know that spending a moment to work out a response would serve far better than sputtering some half-formed retort.
“Have you ever successfully killed an ascian? I bet you’ve tried; Garlean nobles try to kill anyone who’s rude to you and the ascians are always rude sooner or later. So you tried killing them and it didn’t take and you, what, you gave up? This plan you propose is their plan. It’s what they want. You propose ‘freedom’ in the form of serving your ascian masters. That’s got to be the most pathetic thing I’ve ever heard.”
“You will show the Emperor due respect!” Varis’ hot-headed gunblade-wielding bodyguard began to shout, already unsheathing her weapon as she approached the table. She got as far as “You will sho-” before a cannonball of concentrated wind magic struck her full in the chest. The magic burst directly upward and with shockingly little noise - just a quick shrrrip - she flew through the top of the tent.
“I was still talking,” The Warrior of Light growled at the empty space, as the other bodyguard shouted “Sister!” at the hole in the ceiling. “What made me laugh, really, was that you decided to fight a war because you couldn’t imagine truly killing an ascian, but you’re willing to fight someone who’s already succeeded at it. I have killed, and killed, and killed, Emperor. When they sent me monsters, I killed monsters. When they sent me elementals, I killed elementals. When they sent me dragons, I killed dragons. When they sent me gods, I killed gods. When they sent me ascians, I killed ascians. At one point multiple ascians attempted to form together into a giant super-ascian and I killed that.
Now you propose to send me armies.”
Varis’ bodyguard fell through the ceiling of the tent with a crash. Garlean body armor being a technical marvel, she still lived, but she struggled to stand, groaning in pain.
“I’m sorry Admiral. I know you were hoping I’d be a...calming influence, at these proceedings.
The truth, Varis, is that your best shot at freedom is to leave me be. We’ve seen no evidence that new ascians are coming into being, so if I keep killing them at the present pace it stands to reason we’ll simply run out and then we’ll all be free of them. But that doesn’t bring you personal satisfaction, personal glory. So send armies.”
The Warrior of Light shrugged.
“I can kill armies.”

sea’s wol challenge — v. starlight
This is a dream, she tells herself even as her lungs constrict in her chest. This is a dream.
But the sharp burn in her throat feels real. The fear crawling up her spine and numbing her fingers feels real. The slow, heavy gust of air brushing against her neck feels far too real, and she would recognize the oppressive figure looming at her back anywhere.
She takes shaky, stumbling steps forward until her feet knock against another body. Her blood runs cold.
Visions of sharp, grinning teeth flash across her mind. Then a clawed, gloved hand enters her line of sight and she jolts herself awake by pure will.
Dream, she tells herself in the resounding silence of her bedroom. Not real.
But the creeping panic transfers over no matter how much she tries to shove it down, and she doesn't quite manage to let go of her death grip on the bed sheets in time.
"Mihr?"
She feels the bed dip and hears the sheets rustle. Half-glazed eyes peer at her through the darkness, still heavy with sleep—and the sight triggers another wave of fear so fierce she freezes.
The soft hiccup that escapes her throat is enough to spark him to immediate awareness, but she's up and beelining for the bathroom before he can ask again.
 . . .
It feels like she’s stuck in a loop sometimes. Every now and then she’ll get a good feeling, a rush of confidence that has her thinking she’s managed to claw her way out, to finally step off of whatever predetermined path fate has decided to put her on—and every time it ends with her feeling like she’s being dragged back by her feet.
It happens often enough where she’s long past thinking it’s a coincidence. Some part of her wonders about the Gods and their sense of humor and how she’d like to have a few strong words with Fate about taking a long, long vacation.
"I'm sorry I keep waking you like this,” she mumbles and rests her head on her arms. The stonewall is cold against her skin. Something solid to anchor herself to. “And you know you don’t have to get up with me.”
The hand rubbing soothing circles into her back doesn’t stop. “I know.”
“Though the fresh air helps.”
“Hm. Think that’s a sign that we need to clean.”
The lighthearted remark eases the knot in her chest. “You’re the one who tracks in mud more often than not, you know."
“And you’re the one with a library’s worth of musty books. Where do you think the dust comes from?”
“Don’t blame the spellbooks just because you can’t read them.”
The eyeroll that follows is so powerful she doesn’t even need to look at him to see it. She hides another smile.
Like always, the Mist is quiet at night save for the constant ebb and flow of the ocean, the rustle of palm trees, and the occasional cricket.
“Huh.”
She turns and finds him staring thoughtfully up at the sky. “The stars are similar here,” he says, brows furrowed. “The constellations, I mean. I never noticed.”
“You never compared them before?”
“Never gave it much thought.”
She cranes her head and squints at the glittering mosaic above them.
It's easy to recall the lessons from Leveva. About the Bole, Spear, Balance. White magic has always been a favorite—a tried and true method—but astrology has ever been a curiosity for her. Something about dipping into the power of the stars, rewriting events and playing with fate was far too satisfying.
Maybe that's why we don't get along, she thinks wryly at the stars. Constantly butting heads. Fate probably didn't like the constant meddling.
“Leveva did a reading for me way back when,” she says then, voice distant as she traces the familiar outline of the Ewer. "The first time we met."
“Who?”
“An astrologian in Ishgard.”
The next pause is a beat longer. “A what?”
Her lips quirk up. Of course, Norvrandt didn’t have the equivalent. And if it did, Ardbert wasn’t ever one to follow the development and branches of various forms of magicks.
"Urianger is one. And there's a place called the Athenaeum Astrologicum in Ishgard. You've noticed the telescopes around Coerthas, right?"
"Aye. I figured it was a hobby of theirs. Kholusia favored the stars as well, yet their use was mostly for navigating the sea." He frowns. "Can't see that getting much use in the mountains, though."
She hums in agreement as he turns and leans his hip on the railing to better face her. "It's somewhat similar. The Ishgardians watched the skies for signs of attack during the war. The astrologians use the skies and stylized cards for something similar—scrying the future, but also harnessing the power of the stars."
"The power of the stars," he repeats with a raised brow. "To ward off dragons?"
She grins as he crosses his arms, clearly dubious about the entire thing. "Yes, they'd raise an impressive barrier whenever the horde showed signs of taking flight."
"Really."
"Yes."
He considers her a moment before his eyes narrow in accusation. "No they didn't."
"How do you know?"
He holds her gaze, then leans in until he's looming, close enough she feels his breath on her skin. He's long since lost the ability to embarrass her, but her cheeks still warm at his proximity and under the focused weight of his scrutiny.
She tries to keep up the charade. Really. But as always, she cracks first and can't fully smother the grin tugging at her lips at the sight of him so comically serious.
He pulls back with the shadow of a smirk, arms crossed and entirely too satisfied. “I knew it."
"I hate it when you do that."
"No you don't."
"No I don't," she agrees easily, and reaches up to brush some stray hair from his forehead. "But you don't have to sound so smug about it each time."
He catches her wrist before she pulls her hand back. The gentle kiss on her palm sends a wave of warmth right down to her toes, and his eyes glow like he knows exactly what he's doing.
"And? What did this Leveva see in your reading?"
The soft press of his lips against her skin is entirely too distracting. "...She said, and I quote, 'the stars say you should run.'"
"Run?"
"Something about a tall, dark stranger being trouble."
"Sounds like it was solid advice," he murmurs, but doesn't let go of her hand. "You ought to have followed it."
She rubs a thumb against his cheek. "I’m glad I didn’t.”

Physical Appearances: Game vs how I imagine them
So I don’t mod in game, but all my girls have some things that I can’t really show very easily. I’ve thought about modding, but ultimately I’m 1) too intimidated and 2) too lazy. So I’ll just do a write-up instead~ Most scarring I’m not going to count, as in all universes my girls are adventurers, and some scarring comes with the territory.
Tumblr media
Helisent: I use a ‘male’ model for Hel in game, so there’s bound to be a few differences. Her hair is supposed to be a lot more curly than anything I can find in game, but the length is about right. Her model is 1 inch shorter than she’s supposed to be, because for some reason male midlanders can’t be 6ft exactly.  She has a bust thanks to hormone spells, and generally she wears the ‘female’ version of outfits, if applicable.

Shining: Actually has a lot of scarring on her left side, running from crown to calf, due to falling down a cliffside in the Calamity. I wanted to evoke the idea of the Norse goddess Hel, who if half alive, half dead. Her hair actually reaches her waist, and is quite thick. She’s also thicker than what the game lets me make her -- she’s just as muscular, but not quite as thin.

WoL AU Specific: being the one that gathered up the Light across Norvrandt, it “stained” her. Her hair became whiter and whiter, and her skin turned to almost marble like in consistency, giving her an appearance similar to Forgiven Dissonance/Kuribu. After the Light was taken care of, she retained a bit of the uncanny valley, but her hair started to grow out into it’s natural red. By 5.3, she only has white highlights. Her armor was also likewise affected, but will retain the bright white luster, regardless of what she does to it.

Nive: The most different from her game model, thanks to being half Hrothgar. Admittedly that wasn’t something I had decided until the SHB benchmark let me create Tikhomir, and he told me that he was Nive’s father. Or Nive decided. I’m not quite sure which.
Starting from the top, her ears are about half the size of a normal adult miqo’te’s, and they point forward like a hrothgar’s, and are slightly tufted. She has more extensive markings than just the ones on her face, with freckles branching out of those, sort of like her skin being splattered with wet paint. She has claws on her fingers, but she tries to keep them trimmed. She also has fur that goes along her shoulders, back, forearms, calves, and her lower back which connects to her tail, which is whiteish in color, like her undyed hair. Her fur along her back and arms are patchy because of spellfire and her aetheric tattoos -- the amount of aether channeled through them tends to sear through the fur. It grows back, but with how often she’s being a thrillseeker in combat, it doesn’t get very far.
Regarding her tattoos, she has basic arcanima geometries on her arms and chest, similar to SMN AF70 gear, and rhotaro blue in color. A binding sigil for Demi-Shinryu that takes up most of her back, with its tail extending down her spine, and its wings along her shoulder blades. When summoned onto the field, the dragon part of the tattoo leaves her back, but the binding circles remain.
Lastly, she possesses the Rood Inverse (also known as the Blood-Sin) on her forehead. It is not inked onto her skin, but instead looks as though the freckles and stripes she has naturally formed the symbol. This is a very recent development, both in her canon and her WoL AUs, though the circumstances of attaining it are very different.
