Offering of Light: Lotus Lantern Festival at Samgwangsa, Busan, South Korea

Lotus Lantern Festival or Yeon Deung Hoe (연등회) is a Korean festival that commemorates the birthday of Buddha.

Samgwangsa belongs to the Cheontae Order in Korean Buddhism. It is a fairly new temple according to South Korean standards and it was built in 1983 on the slopes of Mount Baekyang.

This year I had this amazing opportunity to be part of the Lotus Lantern festival supporters and I need to thank them for accepting me. I had so much fun and I was so happy to be able to share all of this with you! So for my last post I went and visited the street exhibition. Both the temple and the plaza were amazing! I could take so many great pictures to share with you! I hope everyone around the world had the same great experience like me, through my pictures and posts. 190504. Ayer nos fuimos a ver un festival de "linternas" en conmemoración del nacimiento de Buda. Cortaron una de las calles principales durante un montón de horas y durante el desfile hubo baile, música con instrumentos tradicionales coreanos, gente desfilando con sus templos o colegios/universidades y esas grandes estructuras de ¿papel? con luz interior. Un espectáculo digno de ver, todo sea dicho. Nos sentamos en el suelo detrás de una familia (padre, madre, niño y niña) y me puse a hablar primero con la madre y después con los niños (la mayoría en coreano) y me enseñaron a jugar a una versión del Piedra, Papel o Tijeras y la niña me regaló una de las flores de loto que había hecho de papel.
