Ensign Su scoffed. “‘Mr. Wei,’” he repeated. “I hear he spent the morning with you. You know it’s obvious to everyone that all he wants is extra lab time.” The operations officer laughed and shook his head. “That Wei Wuxian, always playing an angle.” He leaned into Lan Wangji’s space to whisper in his ear. “You know, he’ll call anyone ‘friend’ if it means getting a handout. I mean, look at how he took over the labs. Everyone on the station knows that he spreads his legs for Captain Nie.”
“Speculating about the personal relationship of your superior officer is the height of unprofessionalism,” Lan Wangji stated. He glanced sidelong at Ensign Su. “According to your personnel file, you have been demoted based on similar such conduct in the past.”
“Doesn’t mean I’m wrong,” Ensign Su said. With a smirk, he pulled back. “Good luck with that one, Lieutenant.”

What’s your total AO3 word count? - 1,462,003. Like I said. And to quote that meme, 'some may be good, some may be shit'
What are your top 5 fics by kudos? - 1. Age of Astaroth (Ao no Exorcist | Blue Exorcist), 2. You don't need a (fucking) quirk (僕のヒーローアカデミア | Boku no Hero Academia | My Hero Academia), 3. Are we still playing (Haikyuu!!) , 4. Compensation (Haikyuu!!), 5. Reactive (Hetalia: Axis Powers)
Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? - ALWAYS!!! And I also put lots of hearts and bunnies and whatnot, for mysterious reasons. But seriously, I love comments, and not just positive feedback. It means my work has caused a reaction with the reader, stirred some emotion. I'm always grateful.
What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending? - hmm, I guess the angstiest would be Resentful (陈情令 | The Untamed (TV), 魔道祖师 - 墨香铜臭 | Módào Zǔshī - Mòxiāng Tóngxiù) , but Bai Lin's lament (琉璃 | Love and Redemption (TV)) is quite sad too. But usually I avoid angsty/sad/unhappy endings and strive to give my characters at least some silver lining if not a fully happy ending. I'm a sucker for happy endings, me.
What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending? - The Embrace of Death and the Kiss of Life (Soul Eater). This immediately comes to mind
Do you write crossovers? - I was about to say never, but in fact I recently wrote one. For smut purposes only :)))
Have you ever received hate on a fic? - I have received the abundant pleasantries of the infamous Guest reviewers back when I was active on fanfiction.net, but those people either had a problem with the sacred guidelines or were just there to troll but never related to a fic itself. On AO3 there was the very dedicated XiYao troll, but again, they had a problem with the pairing in general rather than with my fics.
Do you write smut? If so, what kind? - I wrote both het and BL, but only BL was ever fully explicit (influenced by my absolute shifu sectionladvivi/Daniel May. I'm hardly on his level though). I never wrote yuri and I wouldn't either.
Have you ever had a fic stolen? - I don't think so.
Have you ever had a fic translated? - Yeah, Rise of the Emerald Princess (Soul Eater) was translated and that person also asked me if they could write a prequel one-shot/spin off. I was beyond flattered, you guys!
Have you ever co-written a fic before? - I have, but just once. I'd like to give it a try sometime, but it's a commitment. Maybe a one-shot.
What’s your all-time favorite ship? - When it comes to ships, my muse is as faithful as an incubus, I have no control over this thing, you get the picture. So, no. Why settle on a fave anyway? :))
What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will? - I will strive to finish all my WIPs (I have like 2 :))) Normally when a fic is hopeless, I just delete it.
What are your writing strengths? - that sometimes I can write :)))))
What are your writing weaknesses? - that I have no control over my muse whatsoever and that includes long periods 'on the dry'
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? - it's cool as long as it's a language I have at least some vague knowledge of. Walter Essner speaking French is everything :)))
What was the first fandom you wrote for? - Inglorious Basterds
What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet but want to? - nothing comes to mind right now...
What’s your favorite fic you’ve written? - hmmm, can't decide between Boy in gold silk (陈情令 | The Untamed (TV)) and White man's coffin (陈情令 | The Untamed (TV))

I love LOVE reading your reviews and D/s analysis. Have you watched the Untamed???? Its Chinese and cuz of the censorship they can't state the relationship explicitly. But we can deeply feel their undying love and adoration for each other. Could you please do a D/s analysis of Lan Zhan's and Wei Wuxian's relationship???
They are kinky as fuck in canon...if you read the book....uufff....they kinky kinky and definitely D/s....but yes, it cannot be shown in the TV series...but the actors and director did their best to convey the love and emotions. And even if you can't find any D/s in the TV adaptation, could u still review it?? Its like one of my all time favorite!! Please?? Pretty please????
And even if you decide you don't want to review it, Its still a drama that I would highly recommend!!!! Please watch it!!

I've heard it's pretty long and you see how detailed I am. I just can't help it. Though the lovely @mematryoshkame send me the link for a shorter option. 20 is doable.
I'm currently doing LITA, UWMA, and I've promised to do at least one review of Eclipse. Let me get to those and then I'll work on this.

Summary: And now it’s time for the canon divergence AU where Jin Zixun has the tactical sense to station archers on both sides of Qiongqi Path for his murder ambush, and Jin Zixuan shows up fifteen minutes late with Starbucks.

One of my pet peeves in fanfic is when there is no concept of time.  Like, you can’t set up a meeting for two characters, write an on-screen conversation that lasts five minutes, and then immediately say “oh it’s been an hour since we got here, time to go”.  I know it hasn’t been an hour!!!  You came in, sat down, did some dialogue, and now you’re leaving!!!!  I saw the whole thing!!!!!

I just came across this on YouTube and wow does rhis vid pack a punch. So much family trauma and love, and all twisted together. The editing is fantastic but it takes a few watches to realise how well those shots go with the lyrics.
I love the Lan brothers and their desperate devotion (to anyone who'll have me... fill me up), and the match of Zidian to "we're wonderful folks" for the Jiangs. I love the running section, JGY running for office, and LWJ running for a cause, NHS running from responsibility, and JC running into debt with his new golden core. Its great editing but it takes a few watches to appreciate it.

All this Goncharov renaissance on Tumblr has me nostalgic enough to watch Reservoir Dogs. Harvey Keitel might be missing the Russian accent and the eyepatch, but Mr White has always reminded me of Andrey. An Andrey who made it out of Naples with Goncharov, who got out of Italy with hope instead of heartbreak. An older Andrey who's mellowed with time, who's relaxed his guard without constantly juggling his loyalty to Goncharov with his assigned job.

You know, Tumblr reactions made episode 6 sound pretty gay, and I disregarded that as background noise because I never got that vibe from Hob in the comics. Then I watched episode 6.
Wow. I was so wrong.
Dream smiled! That felt like watching the gayest romance ever.
For a series with actual queer rep, that episode was gayer than everything else so far.

The Untamed (陈情令) Review: Ep 30
!!! SPOILERS AHEAD !!!
Previous episode review: 1 and 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16,17, 18,19, 20, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29. 
Expectations: The Yiling Patriarch is delving into the dark arts and the Ghost General is killing people mindlessly. Reality: The Yiling Patriarch is barter-trading a radish for a compass with a Yiling Patriarch cosplayer / snake oil salesman and the Ghost General is (nervously) trying to sell radishes. XD
Poor WN... JC didn’t HAVE to slam the door in his face like that. -_-’’
JC is here! And JYL too! The Jiang siblings are (briefly) united again!!! :):):)
WHY IS JC SO TSUN WHEN HE SAW WWX’S REACTION AT SEEING JYL IN HER WEDDING GET-UP OMG. “What? You think she is going to marry you?”
On a side note, I was kinda amused at how both JYL and JC up-ped their fashion game when they came to Yiling to see WWX even though they were trying to keep a low profile. Like OK, JYL was in a black cloak which hid her wedding get-up but JC didn’t have a cloak on and was dressed in a fairly showy manner (for him I mean)...?
More JC Tsun-ness! JC was the one who suggested that WWX give JL his courtesy name AND he immediately shoots down WWX’s suggestion of “Jin Rulan” by complaining that the name sounds like it is associated with the Lan sect. -_-’’
JYL offering a bowl of the lotus soup, which she brought for WWX and JC, to WN just makes what would eventually happen angst-ier than it already is. :(
All the bickering and (awkward) displays of concern between the Yunmeng Twin Heroes will never get old. Heh. “Here’s to the Yiling Patriarch!” “[chokes] You shut your mouth!” “... How’s your injury from the last time?” “I’ve already recovered from it.” “How many days did it take you to recover?” “Just 7 days. You know me, a small injury like that isn’t going to bring me down.  But... you really did a fine job of stabbing me...” “You were the one who cut my arm first! You took 7 days to recover; I had my arm in a sling for a month!”
WWX trying to grow lotuses in the Burial Mounds was probably the most bittersweet part of the episode. Like you could SEE how WWX’s desperation when the lotuses weren’t growing (and when A-Yuan plucked the only seedling which appeared) reflected his despair at losing the only link to Lotus Pier which he had left. Plus it was kinda cool how this reflected the happier parallel of JZX planting lotuses at Koi Tower for JYL in episode 28...
How is that the live-action JGS is even MORE slimy than the one in the novel?! The more polished / presentable JGY is, the more JGS doesn’t trust him?! If JGY weren’t polished / presentable, then there would be slurs being thrown about him being the lowly son of a prostitute or something like that, right??? What does JGS even want from JGY??? Oh and don’t even get me started on how JGS refused to let JGY carry JL! :(:(:(
God, I loved how LWJ owned the scene at Koi Tower even in the short time which he appeared in this episode. He suggested that WWX be invited to JL’s Full Month Celebration AND gave Jin Zixuan literally no face in rebutting him??? Novel!LWJ gotta take some notes from Live-action!LWJ. Haha. 
Also loved how quickly JGY changed his position on WWX being invited to JL’s Full Month Celebration RIGHT AFTER he heard LXC speaking up in support of inviting WWX if WWX was sincere in turning over a new leaf. JGY literally went from saying, “Hanguang-jun means well. However, this may not be appropriate.” to going, “It is true that I do not appear to have heard of the Yiling Patriarch committing any evil. Even the Stygian Tiger Seal has disappeared without a trace.” Ohh, JGY, your crush on LXC is showing. Heh. PLUS THIS PARALLELED HOW IN ONE OF THE EARLIER EPISODES, NMJ DID A 360 ON HOW TO DEAL WITH THE WEN SECT REMNANTS AFTER HE SAW LXC LOOKING UPSET AT HIS ORIGINAL STANCE. HOLY SHIT.
LXC’s tiny smile when JGY asked LWJ to help deliver the invitation to WWX was just-! LXC, did you sorta-kinda plan on having this happen??? ;)
On a side-side note, it was nice to see the parallels between WWX and JGY in the second half or so of this episode where the show kept jumping back and forth between what they were doing. Like WWX was trying to re-create Lotus Pier at the Burial Mounds by planting the lotuses and JGY was trying to gain his father’s approval at Koi Tower by being a good right-hand man. But basically, both of them were displaced individuals trying to create a sense of belonging in their new homes. 
Overall: 10/10. 110% would watch again for all the great lines and fluff. Despite it being a fairly filler-y episode. AND despite JGS being an ass for the entire time that he appeared on screen. Probably because we all know how things eventually ended for JGS. Hahaha.

My views on ‘The Untamed 陈情令’

I never thought I would write a review on a drama although I have watched a lot of dramas of different genres for about 15/16 years. There is something about ‘The Untamed’ that made me want to write a review or at least write out my feelings. I’m not going to write too deep and get into all the details. But I guess this could be a way for me to get out of this trap or try to get it off my chest. 
I’m not a fan of the original novel (well, not yet) as I don’t like reading so I haven’t read it yet. However, I have decided to read it as I have finished the drama and couldn’t get over it no matter how much I want to escape from it. 
Trust me, I don’t usually get THIS attached to a drama or any characters, I mean yeah, the casts are handsome and all, but I stayed for the plot and the characters, not just the good looks of those actors. Especially if it’s 50 episodes long, I wouldn’t stay for someone’s visuals like I ain’t got time for that – I can just watch the cuts of that actor lol. I’m quite picky because I have seen A LOT of dramas, if I watch 2 episodes and it bores me then bye and I don't like long dramas. But after the 50 episodes, I felt so empty like I wanted more??? I know that's normal since I have experienced that before but this time was slightly different.
I personally think everyone portrayed their characters very well, despite most of them are young actors/ actresses. I usually skip or play supporting characters’ parts in 1.5 speed if they’re not as interesting as the main characters. But they kept me riveted throughout the entire drama, I didn’t skip one bit. Most characters hit me at some point during the drama, and I loved it (while shedding buckets of tears haha).

Apart from WWX and LWJ, my FAVORITE character is Jiang Yan Li - notice how I capitalized the word and it's in bold, that’s how much I loved her. She’s the best shijie/ sister that anyone could ask for. I feel like she’s WWX’s half mother, she takes care of him. She is a gentle and polite woman. She isn’t powerful in the Cultivation World (she mainly just focused on cooking tbh lol it's cute tho) but she doesn’t hesitate to protect WWX. She stood up for him even in front of her future mother-in-law, she trusted him until the end even when everyone went against him, and when her parents got killed, she didn’t blame him (it wasn’t his fault anyway) and eventually sacrificed her life for him. Her death was just so tragic like I was bawling my eyes out, she didn’t deserve it, she really didn’t. She was just a simple girl that wanted the best for her family. But she is the last straw that broke the camel’s back aka WWX, if she didn’t die for him, he probably wouldn’t get out of control. It was so cruel to WWX but I kind of understand why the author did it.

I also enjoyed the cinematography, scenery and OST, all of it was so astounding. Even the name of the locations were beautiful like 云深不知处 – it sounds so poetic. I loved how each sect had their own colors which reflected their characteristics in the Cultivation World. The characters also had their own OST, my favorite ones are Wen Ning’s & Jiang Yan Li’s songs – it still hurts when I listen to them, and I nearly cried few times (yes, I have a soft spot for Wen Ning, too.) I want to add that Jiang Yan Li & Jin Zi Xuan's song hurts a lot as well, the lyrics are like a fucking knife stabbing me in the chest. I thought I was strong enough to watch the MV, but I couldn't control my tears gdi. You know when you're cutting onions and tears just streaming down your face, that's what happened to me - except there were no onions.  *I was a fan of the singer when I was younger so watching him singing the song on the stage also took me back to the old days ah~ This song gave me double feels lol ;~;

A part of me regrets that I didn’t watch it last year but a part of me is thankful that I finally got to watch it this year. It was already a hot topic before it even aired in China, so of course I have heard about it and I know briefly what it is based on. But I didn’t want to jump on the bandwagon and be like I’m a huge fan of the drama just because it’s popular (it’s hard to explain but I’m quite stubborn sometimes lol). Many said that you wouldn’t understand the story or the little details in the drama if you haven’t read the novel (I watched the animation before the drama, so I know a bit of the story). I don’t like reading anyway so I didn’t bother with it. Also, the genre of the novel isn’t something that I would read so that’s another reason why I left it. I’m not against any type of love, I just feel a bit iffy about reading it, which is kind of stupid now that I think about it lol. Another reason is that I don’t like depressing dramas, I used to watch a lot of those in my younger days, most of the plots are quite cliche. Although 'The Untamed' is sad, there were sweet, happy moments and it has a happy ending, so I loved it.

A lot of people didn’t like the ending, but I think it was a good ending. I mean they can’t really do much as they have to pass the censorship. My interpretation of the ending is that LWJ went to sort out everything in the Cultivation World so that he could be with (or protect) WWX later. He found WWX (maybe a few years) later and called WWX’s name. In that scene, WWX’s black outfit is different to when they parted, so it can’t be LWJ came back to WWX right after they went separate ways – that would very irresponsible to do since he is the Chief Cultivator. It’s an open-ended ending, so it’s up to the audience’s imagination, you can interpret it however you like. The camera didn’t show LWJ at the end so it could also be WWX imagined that LWJ called his name. But I believe that they got together, you can just tell just by looking at WWX’s facial expressions. It isn’t that difficult to figure it out, the novel has a happy ending so yeah. I also read it somewhere that when LWJ went to meet up with WWX, he also changed his outfit but apparently that part didn't pass the censorship (wtf?) so maybe that's why they didn't show LWJ at the end.

I guess the good thing is that I can’t get all the related merch, if I watched it last year, I would definitely ask one of my relatives to buy and send everything over for me lmao goodbye my money. But I would buy the physical novel when I get the chance. If a drama left a big impact on me, I would buy the novel (if it has one of course).
I think I need a long cool-off period after this drama, I don’t want to watch anything else except their bts, interviews (even supporting actors’ interviews, I usually don’t watch those), crack videos lol, variety shows, fan meeting – basically everything that I can find, I don't think I have watched everything though. When I watched a cut of the cast saying goodbye to their characters on the fan meeting, I cried again (ffs just get over it). It’s definitely one of the best dramas I’ve ever watched and would definitely recommend to those who likes Chinese dramas. Not that anyone cares, but I would rate it 9/10 (if shijie was alive, I would give another 0.5 lol). I don’t know how good the subtitles are, but I did see some odd bits here and there (I watched it without the English subtitles). Sometimes it’s really hard to translate Chinese especially when it’s a xianxia drama – making it even more difficult. Anyway, if I get to finish reading the novel, I might write my views on the novel if I can be bothered lol – I’m a very lazy person XD

I kind of want to write another post just about WWX and LWJ, and how good Xiao Zhan & Yibo’s acting skills were. Basically, complimenting them for 2 pages haha. Ngl, I did fell for Xiao Zhan. I might watch it again just to focus on them a bit more. From the interviews I have seen, Xiao Zhan seems like a very humble, kind, genuine person – you can just tell from his eyes. He’s definitely a treasure boy (硬翻'宝藏男孩'). I don’t think I need to say much about Yibo, he’s super talented, I was already a fan of UNIQ when they were active. The character really suited Yibo and he did a great job portraying LWJ.
Anyway, it’s time for me to say goodbye to 'The Untamed', I don’t know how long I will feel attached to this drama but hopefully there’s another masterpiece that could help me to get over it.

The Untamed
Finished watching The Untamed the other day and gaaaaaah I have so many feelings!!!! Right after watching, I immediately searched up the other versions. I’m almost finished watching the anime (what’s currently released anyway), I’m halfway through the novel, and I listen to the Japanese audio drama whenever I have free time. 
I have so much to say about the story and characters, but I’ll leave that for a separate post after I’ve finished the different versions. I also want to make a post comparing the different media later on. For now, I want to focus on comments.personal opinions I have specific to the live-action drama.
---- SPOILERS BELOW ----
Xiao Zhan and Wang Yi Bo were perfect as Wei Ying and Lan Zhan. Honestly, urgh, I love them so much I can hardly imagine other actors taking up the role in the future if ever.
I really love Wei Wuxian’s relationship with the Wen siblings. Wen Qing never hesitated to call out Wuxian’s bullshit, and Wen Ning was always ready to help him. All three of them had a lot of love and gratitude for each other and it was so nice to see.
While I’ve always loved the fact that Wei Wuxian and Lan Wangji call each other by name, I was most thankful for it after the Yiling Patriarch became a hated existence. I can’t count the number of times the name “Wei Wuxian” was said with hate and contempt, in that loud and accented way a lot of them do (honestly, it became funny sometimes 😂). In those times, Lan Zhan’s soft “Wei Ying” was always a comfort for me.
After Wei Wuxian’s return, I was a little surprised to realize that Wen Ning somehow became part-time comic-relief.
A-yuan!! <3 <3 <3 Sizhui is really adorable, both as a kid, and even after he grew up. <3
I wish they had Wang Yi Bo actually sing a cappella when Lan Zhan and Wei Ying were in the cave. Not sure, but I just felt it would have been nice.
One of my favorite scenes was Wei Ying and Lan Zhan in the Cloud Recesses after Wei Ying finds out the truth about Lan Zhan’s whip scars. Not only is the cinematography beautiful and the music heartwarming, I love their soft conversation of gratitude and the confirmation of their bond.
Jiang Yanli, Jiang Cheng, and Wei Wuxian’s sibling relationship was definitely one of the biggest sources of heartbreak in the series. The way the past just disappears and everything changes always gets to me, especially when Wei Ying reminisces them. </3
The reveal of the truth regarding Wei Ying’s golden core is one of the most powerful scenes in my opinion. I can only imagine how a lot of things suddenly made sense for both Jiang Cheng and Lan Zhan. Also, Wang Yi Bo’s acting is so good it just breaks my heart.
For me, Jiang Yanli was justice and calm. She was always calm and peaceful and kind and fair and nice. And grrr, the world is just too unfair. Because of course the good people go first. T_T
I’m sure I had more to say but oh well.. I can’t remember them all. XD
