ESCで人気に火 Joker Out欧州ツアーがフィンランドからスタート―大会を通して生まれたカーリヤとの無二の友情

フィンランドでのゴールドディスク。早朝からライブ会場の前に待機列を作るファン。うなぎのぼりに増える新曲"Everybody's waiting"のストリーミング数。
スロベニアのインディーズバンドJoker Out(ジョーカーアウト)が勢いに乗っている。
昨年のユーロビジョン・ソング・コンテスト(ESC)に出場したこのバンドは、デビュー以来母国で人気を博していたが、大会を機にさらにその人気に火がついた。
彼らのヨーロッパツアーは今週末、クルトゥーリタロ(文化の家)から始まり、4月まで続く。ESCのエントリー曲"Carpe Diem"がフィンランドでゴールドディスク認定された彼らが、ヘルシンキでライブを行うのは2回目となる。
「フィンランドはスロベニアと同じくらい、『ホーム』を感じる土地なんです」
リモートでのインタビューでそう語ったのは、ボーカルのボーヤン・ツヴェティチャニン。
リバプールで開催されたESCでは���ヨーロッパ全土での人気だけでなく、ユニークな関係性―カーリヤことイェレ・ポウホネンとの友情を育んだ。
「生涯の相棒であり、一生の友人です。大会中のあの熱狂とカオスの中で、僕たちは強い絆を結ぶことが出来たし、それはある意味非常にユニークな出来事でした」
ボーヤンはそう振り返る。
ヘルシンキでの公演の後、ツアーはタリンへと続く。そのツアーバスにはカーリヤも乗り込む。
「休暇中のイェレは、観光客として僕らと一緒に来ますよ。多くの時間を一緒に過ごすことになると思います」
ボーヤンが言う。
「フィンランドではサウナにも行きたいです！ ライブを本当に楽しみにしています。イェレのいうように、クレイジーでパーティーになると思います(It's crazy, it's party)」
今年のUMKではジョーカーアウトが審査員として登場。ボーヤンとベースのナツェ・ヨルダン、ドラムスのユーレ・マチェクの姿が得点発表の際にスクリーンに映し出されると、ノキア・アリーナは熱狂した。ボーヤンは、緑色のカーリヤシャツを着ていた。
―スクリーンの向こう、リモートでアリーナを埋め尽くすフィンランド人が歓声をあげているのを見ていかがでしたか？
「ネット接続が切れずにうまくいくことだけを願ってました(笑)」
ドラマーのユーレはそう言って笑った。
「ノキア・アリーナは僕たちにとって特別な場所で。前回僕たちがアリーナを見たのは、ライブツアーでタンペレに向かう道中でした。イェレは『うんうん、いつか俺たちもくるよ、ここに』なんて冗談言ってました(笑)」
ボーヤンは"イェレングリッシュ"を真似て言った。

ピーマン肉巻きチーズ詰め。最愛のバンドが6年ぶりの新曲リリースと同時に活動休止を発表した。ギターボーカルが歌えなくなってしまってからライブもリリースも今までずっとなかったから昨日までと何も変わらないといえばそうだけど、新曲をレコーディングしてリリースできるくらいの状態までは持ち直したうえで、改めて正式に活動休止が宣言されるという事実の重みが強くのしかかる。バンドの活動が停滞している間もメンバーは飯を食ってかないといけないわけで、バンド以外の活動で6年も飯を食ってたら事実上そっちが本業になるよな。"本業"を置いて戻ったって待っているのは6年間活動していなかったインディーズバンドってんじゃあ今の生活を取るのも仕方がない。そう頭ではわかっているけど寂しいものは寂しい。新譜を引っ提げてライブに復帰するいつかその日を待ち続けていたけど、これからも待ち続けるけど、その日はまだまだ先のようだ。リリースされた新曲は最高で、それが救いでもあり辛くもあった。

Toki: I apologize. We’ve tried selling tickets around the neighborhood and in other neighborhoods as well. But regardless of that, you’ve been taking care of us yet we’ve been inconveniencing you. We will make sure to reflect on our actions.
Live House Manager: Y-yeah… If you just said that in the first place, I would’ve also…
Toki: But, if we don’t work on it while we can, the sound will disappear somewhere. I’m really sorry.
Mitsuru: Yeah. We couldn’t help that earlier. We didn’t make it in time for Hana Uta no Rock-On after all.
Hibari: The music gods come to Tsugu-chan on a whim after all~ Ah, also, this new song plays a part too.

バニーハント
そばかすのバニーガールを女子高生が追っかける話です。
私、女子中学生。
そして、現在バニーガールを追っかけています。
高身長、そばかす、目つきが悪い。
何で追っかけているのかというと、正義感でもバズり目的でもない。
単純に落とし物を届けようと追っかけています。
何を拾ったかというと、しっぽです。うさぎのしっぽ。
うさぎの尻尾がないバニーガールなんて、うさ耳を飾りにしているだけだ。
そう語っていた同級生を思い出した。
もしかしたら、呼び込みの最中で外に出ていて、今からお店に戻ろうとしたのかも。
戻ったら、お店の人に怒られそうだ。尻尾がないから。
でもいくら声を掛けても、追いかけても、気づかれないし追いつけない。足がめちゃくちゃ速い。
だって、バイクと併走している。
明日の今頃、SNSのトレンドがこうならないかな。
『音速バニーガール』
インディーズバンドの名前みたい。
そして、気が付いた。
そもそも昼間にバニーガールは、ハロウィーンイベントでも、コスプレイベントでもないのにおかしい。
そもそもふーなんたら法で引っかかるのでは。
何で、誰もおかしいとか言わないんだ。言えない？関わりたくない？それは、そうか。
私も落とし物に気が付かなかったら、スルーしてたし。
でも拾っちゃったしな。しっぽ。
ちらりと見えた立て看板の上に祀るわけにもいかないし。
あ、赤信号。
私は、立ち止まった。
バニーガールのお姉さんは、立ち止まらなかった。
トラックに跳ねられた。
咄嗟の事で、何も出来なかった。弧を描いて、バニーガールのお姉さんは宙へと舞った。そのまま、こちらへ飛び込んで。
思わず、目を閉じた。
あ、これ、私も死んだ？
けれど、いくら待っても、重力を感じない。
「すいません、生きていますか？ 」
声に応じて、目を開けた。目の前には、ぴこぴこと動くうさぎの耳。ちょっと色んなものが垂れている。びちゃびちゃと。
「あ、の。大丈夫、ですか。頭」
「ああ、大丈夫です。ほら、ええと。汗なので」
赤兎馬ってあったけど。
少なくとも、お姉さんはウサギの耳を生やした人間だから、汗は赤くないはずだ。
「私は平気です。あの、救急車」
「あ、それは困ります。ええと、まさか見えちゃう子だとは思わなかったな」
「うん？ 」
するとお姉さんは誰かと話し始めた。うさ耳じゃなく、人の耳にインカムがついている。文字通り、耳とインカムが一体化している。
お姉さんが自身を抱き留めて密着しているので、ところどころ話し声は聞こえる。男の人だ。おじさん？お兄さん？
でも話の内容が入ってこない。
あ、と気づいた。
トラックのナンバーを撮影していたので、画像が撮れているか確認をすることにした。
あっという間にどこかへ行ってしまったけど、ひき逃げ犯として、捕まえないと。
おかしい。
写真がない。ちゃんと連射で撮ったはずだ。
呆然としていたけど、それだけは忘れちゃいけないと慌てていくつか撮ったはずだ。
何も映っていない背景だけが映っている。
「あ、写真撮っちゃっています、この子」
ぐいっ、っとお姉さんの顔が近寄ってきた。近い。骨ばって浮き出た鎖骨が妙に目に入った。
あれ。なんか、白いものが。白い、骨が、見えている。
「ほ、骨出てる。お姉さん」
「大丈夫、元から元から。うっかり出ただけ」
お姉さんは、居眠りを注意する前の先生みたいな顔つきになった。
それから、ぺろん、とワイヤーが入っているだろうバニーガールの服の上側を手で捲った。
捕まえなきゃいけない人が増えてしまう！！
私はあわてて、お姉さんの胸元を隠そうとした。でも、出来なかった。お姉さんの身体が、なくなったからだ。
「簡単に言うと、私は化け物狩りに勤しむ化け物。バニーの服は、生命力を詰め込んだスーツ。だから、半分だけここに存在することが出来る。君が見えるのは、半分こちら側に来ているからか、巫女さんとかそういった系譜かのどっちか。オッケー？ 」
情報量が多くてついていけない。
ただ一つ言えることは、何でバニー？
もっと他にあったんじゃないのか。
「ほら、ウサギってポコポコ子供産むじゃん。安産のショーチョー。生命力の権化と言ってもいい。だから化け物死に体のアタシと合わせて、プラマイゼロ。それから、ウサギの足は魔除けの意味があったりする。長い耳は情報を集めるのに役立つし、ってこれ作った人が言っていた」
「おねーさん、騙されていませんか」
「あ。尻尾がない」
「あ、これです。どうぞ」
「ありがとう」
「いえいえ。それでは。お体に気を付けて」
「帰すわけにはいかないんだ。君、写真撮ったよね？ 」
「お姉さんの写真は撮っていません」
「トラックの写真が撮れていることが問題。あのトラックは、霊柩トラックって言って、亡者と悪魔の悪ふざけの産物…なんだけど。それを撮影できるのって、死に近い存在だけなんだ」
つまり、お姉さん自体は問題ない。もうこの世の者ではないから。同族に絡んでも問題ない。関わりにいっても、影響は出ない。
だけど、私は生きている。
同じ線の上にいないはずなのに、見えてしまっている。関われてしまっている。触れられてしまっている。
「近いうちに死んじゃうんですか、私」
「怖いことを言うよ。でも、絶対そうさせないから。君は死ぬより酷い目に遭う」
「具体的にお願いします。兄の趣味がホラー映画の影響で、グロ耐性はあるので」
「良くて、死ぬ目に遭う」
「…わあ」
これが、私がバニーガールの服を着るまでの前日譚だ。
そして、バニーガールにはバニーボーイが憑き物、つきものだと言うことを知ることになるのは、その次の日だった。
