@mayxthexforce The rest of the galaxy is cold compared to Tatooine. A'Sharad hasn't known this cold before. It bites at his skin despite the fact that he's wearing multiple layers because, while layered, the fabrics that make up his tusken clothes are LIGHT, not meant to hold in warmth but to filter it out. It's absolutely necessary for survival in the Dune Sea to wear layered but light outfits and now that he's so far away from his homeworld —all the way to coruscant, the heart of the galaxy, as he's heard it be called—, his clothes are USELESS. But A'Sharad is stubborn. He's refused to wear anything else but what he came here with, at least until he can provide for himself and get himself a better outfit all on his own, like the man he's become since his father was killed by that infamous bounty hunter. Stubbornly enduring this new climate while wearing the wrong type of clothing results in A'Sharad spending a lot of time outside, usually near the temple's large tree, both because he's never seen a tree before and it fascinates him: its strong trunk, its lively green leaves, and the amount of water that goes into keeping it alive; and because that's the best spot to just sit and get as much sunlight as he can. It seeps in through his clothes, warms his skin and while it's nowhere near the amount of warmth he's used to, it's better than nothing. It's enough to let him slip into a sort of meditative state. Until he starts feeling watched. A'Sharad doesn't move. He stays completely still. The mask and goggles conceal the fact that his eyes have moved towards the cause of this sudden feeling: a boy, a little younger than himself, half hiding behind one of the temple's pillars quite a distance away from him. There's no doubt in A'Sharad's mind that the boy is staring. The boy's master has no doubt of that fact, either. "Anakin," Obi-Wan speaks up, partly chiding because he's not raising a stalker, but mostly confused. "What are you doing?"

anakin had been told to stay away from tuskens. they were dangerous and violent. they wanted to hurt everyone on tatooine except their own people. he'd been afraid of them for as long as he could remember. plenty of stories were passed around while he worked in watto's shop. frightening tales of men being murdered for no reason at all. or women being kidnapped for reasons that anakin never quite caught, the voices going too low for him to hear. he'd once been told he was the perfect size to get kidnapped by a tusken. anakin, who often had an answer for everything, hadn't known how to respond.

he wasn't sure how true any of those stories were, but he'd managed to avoid being kidnapped all the years he lived on tatooine. funnily enough, there had never even been an attempt.

he hadn't meant to follow the tusken around but, as usual, his curiousity took control. trailing after him had lead to the outside, to a the big tree that anakin had nearly fallen over looking at when he first arrived.

anakin remained a safe distance away, hiding behind a pillar.

the tusken seems… peaceful. basking in the sunlight, so still. there's a calmness to him, anakin thinks. or maybe it's just the tree. are trees calm?? he hasn't met enough of them to know. either way, this tusken didn't seem anything like the stories he'd been told on tatooine. and… he's fairly certain the jedi wouldn't let a murderer join the order.

he continues to stare, thoughts racing in his mind, completely zoning in on the other boy. everything else seemed to fade away and he focused on trying to catch any small movement. a twitch of his finger. the rise and fall of his chest. anything. in this state, he had not noticed that he'd half left his hiding spot. half his body was exposed rather than just his head poking out.

" anakin, "

a shriek escapes him and he near jumps out of his skin, the startled movement sends him completely out of his safe spot. obi-wan!! anakin looks between his master and the tusken before he's pushing obi-wan with all his might, forcing him and his own body back behind the pillar.

" why did you do that?! you ruined everything!! " his voice goes higher than usual, upset. his blue eyes stare up at the jedi, demanding and also upset. perhaps because he'd been caught off guard or perhaps because he'd been caught.

woah, ok. first of all? i can’t tell you how happy i am of being active enough on this fandom to deserve this ask. seriously. so. damn. happy. because of this reason i’ve been thinking really hard about how to answer this. i thought… maybe i could just rec things but most of my brethren and sistren have already done that with almost the same fics i would have recced, so i decided to do something a little different and go with a headcanon instead. this is promptly followed by another-fic-that-will-never-exists-because-i-lack-the-drive, sorry. i know you’ve read enough of those from me

anyway, it is my little headcanon  that obi-wan was never meant to have qui-gon as his master but xanatos and that’s the one reason he almost went rejected by the jedi order and no trained, because xanatos wasn’t there to see him and pick him

so, of course I want this to automatically give me an obikin but to this day I can’t decide how I want it to go. I mean, I could have xanatos never fall and take obi-wan as his padawan.  in this verse obi-wan grows up well loved and happy, he’s picked when he’s like 8 or 9, chosen, you know, which makes a huge difference for his self-value, specially with his master taking pride on his disciple’s skills, he also becomes a knight a a little before the naboo crisis. here, anakin is found very much like in the movies but as qui-gon has no padawan to speak of, the order sends xanatos, another random master or maybe even obi-wan in his first mission as a knight along with him. i think Anakin ends as padawan of qui-gon  (if he survives), this other master’s who went with him,  to xanatos himself as the promise would had been made by him instead of obi-wan or still to xanatos as he wouldn’t allow this promise to fall upon the shoulders of his young and freshly knighted former padawan. the torrid homosexual romance between anakin and obi-wan would start a year or two into the clone wars because they may have not been master-padawan here but they would still work flawless together, both of them having still grow up in relatively close quarters thanks to  anakin being a sort of little brother to xanatos or plain his new padawan. i’d like to talk a lot more about this, like how anakin has a few solo and joint missions with other fellow jedis under the belt already when he gets paired up with obi-wan and they perform so amazingly together they are paired for the foreseen future or how they usually cuddle around each other every night since they had to share a cot for a month or two while on some planet or about how their first kiss probably tastes like blood and smoke and desperation because i’ll die before giving them their so well deserved break but let’s go on to the next setting instead.

the second option is… well, it wouldn’t be a sith!obi-wan au per se. more like a dark jedi!obi-wan. here obi-wan is 13yo, angry and on a ship to bandomeer with qui-gon when xanatos meets him. let’s say xanatos decides to listen to the force instead of picking a fight against his former jedi master because of reasons, so he takes the child with the angry issues away and trains him. things on this verse ain’t half as happy as in the first one. xanatos is angry himself and also selfish and even if obi-wan becomes in time in the one thing he prides himself of, he still trains the kid to be his apprentice first and anything else second. basically by the time obi-wan hits 25, he’s an assassin and a mercenary and a thief who collects sith lore for fun and has even been to… i don’t know, zigoola or korriban just because xanatos ordered him not to at some point, probably (srly, he was an angry child and an even angrier teenager). the reason he meets anakin is because he’s following the sith apprentice, trying to uncover sidius’s identity. i think anakin and obi-wan bond a little bit and obi-wan is playing with the idea of taking the child and his mother with him back home when qui-gon shows himself and… well, anakin goes to the jedi instead. i think obi-wan ends aligning himself to the sith because he wants to know more about the line of bane and xanatos ends coming along while spiting fire. they are taken by dooku and just like this, anakin and obi-wan end meeting several times as anakin grows up and as xanatos and qui-gon and dooku hunt each other all around the galaxy.  then, sidius makes a terrible life choice and something ends killing xanatos and qui-gon both. anakin is ahsoka’s master already by the time he leaves the jedi and joins obi-wan to hunt sidious down and avenge his master but he has already sleept with obi-wan once or twice by this point. really, i could talk a lot about this idea too, mainly because things are so different here. i mean, their first kiss on the previous setting is full of angst and tragic as hell, here is… angry and full of want and lust and this au is about anakin also falling to the dark side but never to become a sith lord, just to live in communion with the force and in sin with obi-wan

a smile touched his lips when he sensed tru and it stays there as he responds. a thoughtful gesture, one darra would no doubt appreciate when she does wake up. it's the kind of thing a jedi should do... much different from anakin's own plan. a selfish one that wouldn't have helped anyone - would have just gotten himself into trouble... he wasn't even meant to be in here, borrowing a speeder for no excusable reason probably would have been more than trouble. it had seemed like a good idea when he was restless in his room, guilty after his own mistakes hurt a fellow padawan...

he'd needed a distraction and now tru was here. the force works in mysterious ways, whether they're getting into trouble or not. trouble is more fun with a friend anyway.

" that's a good idea. " he agrees, blue eyes more focused on what tru's doing with the controls. his face lights at the familiar sound of a vehicle unlocking, his fingers twitch. it's only when the door is pushed open, the look, that anakin realises he's invited. yay!!

" not at all. " admits it freely, taking the seat that was offered. the corners of his lips curl, playful. " i could sense that you were up to no good. naturally, i had to come to supervise the no good. "
