This is rewriting of 403 with the inclusion of Samuel’s reader so it's very little romance-wise and packed with plot.

Samuel didn’t tell you anything about the meeting and from how evasive he was, you figured out that he probably didn’t know anything either.

You didn’t mind.

Even if you did, it wouldn’t change anything. Every one of the active executives and the directors from each affiliate arrived after hearing about the summon. Save for the one from the first affiliate, but you thought there’d be a good reason behind their absence. It wouldn’t have made sense otherwise.

This left four people to populate the meeting room during the wait. You and Samuel accounted for two, the other two were the ones from the second affiliate. Because of your late addition to the crew, you couldn’t say that you had many chances to meet with them. Only once or twice because of work, but even then, you talked more to their director than the executives.

It left you wondering what happened to Soma Mitsuki since they were the ones representing the second affiliate. Even back when you were active in Japan, you’ve heard a lot about her. Kuroda Ryuhei and Magami Kenta being here proved her merit enough, it must’ve taken a tremendous amount of credibility and charisma to rein those two in.

Too bad that wasn’t enough to stop the second affiliate from crumbling upon itself. So much potential wasted, your employer—the actual one—must’ve been disappointed when she heard the news about her downfall.

Apparently, your inner musing somehow had shifted into staring. Because once you came to from your pondering, you found Magami staring straight back at you. His attention was suffocating even with the mask he wore. Although, you couldn’t say that you were any better to space out while looking in his general direction. He must’ve found your attention unpleasant and only decided to return the favour.

You learned enough about Magami to know that you would be safer to steer clear of him. At least, not while you had your hands full dealing with Samuel. You did your best with a pacifying smile. Even if your cheer was artificial, it unsettled him enough for him to turn away. His response piqued your interest a little, but not enough for you to linger on him.

“What? Is that your type?”

You overheard Kuroda said from across the table, his mirth at finding a point of distraction was abundantly clear. However, Magami only scoffed at him in return.

“Don’t be stupid.”

Kuroda cackled. His laughter rang ominously underneath the pastry nomen mask he wore. “Why not? She’s a fine piece of ass. Though I don’t think you’ll get any chances with her fucking boyfriend sitting right there. Think he’ll bite?”

It occurred to you then that Kuroda must’ve been either audacious or ignorant. Because he talked like he didn’t care who will hear what he said and you knew Samuel definitely heard that. In the past, he had been triggered by less, there was no telling when Kuroda would push the wrong button. However, he made no indication of caring about the mockery.

And while you wanted to correct him that the two of you were definitely not dating, you held your tongue back since Samuel continued with his phone call without caring. Better not act if he didn’t think it was worth wasting your energy over.

You peered at Samuel, annoyed that you were left without anything to do while he was occupied. It was frankly appalling how he forced you to leave the consoles at home only to make you participate in a tedious waiting game. You had grown bored of your phone five minutes ago — there was only so much scrolling through the social media before your brain rot.

Your glare set on him again — determined to make something out of nothing. However, he went on with his phone call without a care for you. Even if he noticed your staring, he did nothing about it. That was enough for you to start prodding his cheek out of boredom. And that was enough fuel to feed Kuroda’s shameless gossiping.

“See that, hey~ You really don’t have a chance, Kenta,” Kuroda chimed, “they’re stupidly in love together, better luck next time.”

Then, he dramatically added, “Ah, youth, wish I can act like a fucking idiot and bring my beloved with me, too~”

You struggled to comprehend how your pestering of Samuel was perceived as love by Kuroda. But you didn’t stay with that thought for long, Samuel grabbed hold of your wrist, seemingly annoyed with your disturbance. Even when you didn’t show any sign of resistance, he kept your hand in his to prevent any further intrusion.

Magami sighed, “They aren’t an item. That’s Samuel Seo the director of the third and fourth affiliate.” His voice lowered, contemplative. “The girl is an executive. You’ve met both of them before.”

“I did?”

Belatedly, you wondered how my screws were loose in Kuroda’s head. Even you with your head in the cloud remembered meeting him. You knew you were nowhere near forgettable either, so the problem lay with him.

Magami agreed, “You just don’t remember, they sometimes came to the second affiliate,” then, with a note of caution, he added, “and stop your swearing, you’re going to cause a fight.”

You smiled wryly, noting how Magami was the one with a better head on his shoulder. However, you had to wonder how much of that patience would stick if he knew your association. Like Samuel, there was only one person behind you to reach Gun. From what you’ve heard about the Magami family, you reckoned he would be very interested in that information. Violently interested, even.

“It’s okay~ After all, he doesn’t understand Japanese. Look how dumb he is~”

Samuel’s hand around your wrist tightened. Now, that touched a nerve.

“I do understand…” Samuel replied in perfect Japanese and released your wrist the moment he found a new target to direct his ire towards, giving you the chance to retreat. “…what you said.”

Despite the smile on his lips, you knew it was fake as can be. However, while Samuel was caught in his confrontation, you noticed movement in the peripheral of your sight and immediately reached your side.

“The first time we—“ Samuel continued without care for the approach. However, soon as Kuroda squatted down on the table in front of him, he reached up to cover his phone.

“What if you fucking do?” The blatant threat was up in your face as it could be. However, you knew better than to act. Samuel was tense from the insult, getting cut off was a worse provocation than anything could’ve been for him.

“Do you lack manners or education?” His eyes hardened, and whatever false cheer he put up vanished, “Why did you cut me off?”

“And? The fuck you plan to do about it?”

“Back off,” you warned, “we’re not here to fight.” Even with your pacifying words, your hand settled on the firearm strapped at your side, thumbing the hammer in anticipation for the moment Kuroda acted out of line. However, that never came.

“Oh, dear.” Immediately, the tension between the three of you dispersed for a new unease to take place. The newcomer didn’t waste any time with his chastisement, even with the smile on his face. “You just met and already fighting? Make me wonder what’s wrong with you lot. The future of Workers is so bleak.”

The entrance of the president was enough to capture all of your attention. Flanked by his bodyguards, Eugene appeared comically small in your eyes. However, that was not enough for the malice he radiated escaped your notice. Your guard raised up without thinking. Even if a fight wouldn’t happen now, the suspense he left the four of you in made you worry for the worst.

“Samuel Seo of the third and fourth affiliate, Kuroda Ryuhei of the second affiliate, my thanks for spending your precious time on me.”

You forced a smile on your face at his entry, wanting nothing but for him to speed this up and get the mystery over with.

“The first affiliate director is absent. Since that person hasn’t become a director for long, I temporarily requested them to focus on business first.”

Apparently, Kuroda was of the same mind as you were. Albeit louder and infinitely more active. “You are still a talkative little shit, huh?” Instantly, he was in front of Eugene. All up close and impatient. “So what? What’s the reason you got us all here?”

Seeing how he acted, you lamented whether strength equated to the absence of wit and how he managed to get this far acting like a crass buffoon. At the very least, Eugene was unfazed.

“Nothing special, just that us Workers,” the addition he made almost had your jaw dropped, “will have a new affiliate.”

You glanced at Samuel and found what you dreaded. He was truly as blindsided as you were about this and you couldn’t help but wonder if this complicated his plan somehow. You held that concern back, focusing your attention on Eugene again. This development was indeed not out of expectations, but it was strange all the same. You needed to know more. If anything, your employer would want to hear about this.

“Now then, come on in,” Eugene beckoned, “the people accompanying Workers this time around and managing our new business, the fifth affiliate.”

Truly, if the news about an additional branch surprised you, then the appearance of the new executives rendered you speechless. Not that you had much to say from the beginning, but even if you wanted to express something now, you’d be at a loss.

You’d only heard about Hostel capture recently, you didn’t even expect it to succeed this fast. There was no telling what card the president had to play in order to achieve this. In a way, it filled you with some modicum of admiration.

“Go on then, introduce yourselves, leaders of the newest affiliate.” Eugene urged.

Eli was the one who spoke, “There was a time when we were your enemies as Hostel, but now we’re all under Workers.”

You glanced at Samuel again, fully out of his seat to face this new arrival. Even you couldn’t remain after seeing them. Everyone’s expressions were varying levels of worrying. Tension in Samuel, something resigned yet cold about Eli, detached acceptance from Warren. And you almost wished those cursed second affiliates didn’t wear masks so you could decipher the complexity of the current situation.

With a sigh, you resorted to waiting out the introduction. Nothing you haven’t heard, but it was strangely bothersome all the same. You absentmindedly recalled information which you could use against these two if it came down to that. Their family was valuable to them, no doubt that was why they were here.

Maybe Eugene had managed to convince them with his money somehow, Workers had no shortage of it. You began to map down the non-combatant members of Hostel, the three girls — and then Eli, a special case of his own.

Not only a daughter but also… a girlfriend? If your source was correct, then she would’ve been that one.

Time didn’t stop to wait for you to contemplate either. Because if the previous news was shocking, the next one snapped you back on track immediately. It was inevitable, something you had expected from the day you joined the Workers.

Yet, to see it unfolding from you, your eyes couldn’t move away from Samuel, watching every change in the frown on his face.

He must be thinking the same thing as you once he heard it. The weight in your chest was cramped in with lead.

“Our next objective,” Eugene announced, suddenly grim, “is to capture Big Deal.”

So it began.

Seiroku's eyes are fixated on the stars shining above them in the serene moment. In truth, there's no one thing that is special about this moment. But wasn't that part of the beauty of a relationship? Even ordinary things like stargazing at night could become fond memories to be cherished. It's a special kind of comfort to be able to take joy in the mundane.

" Hmm? " He hums when Soma calls his name. " When do I want to? " Now he lowers his eyes away from the stars to turn to look at Soma. He admires the moonlight's halo silhouette around the general that gives him an almost divine appearance. Maybe once Seiroku might have believed perhaps he was divine if it weren't for the fact he had no faith in gods or goddesses. He is handsome all the same, something that deserves to be immortalized in paint or silk.

He's not surprised per se by the abrupt prompt of the question. If he was, then it would be shame on him. But it is a bittersweet question. To plan for something he knows will ultimately never come into fruition. To plan for something that he's yearned for, though it had been forgotten for decades under the soot of his insatiable desire for slaughter. He crosses his legs, thinking about it for a few more moments.

" I always pictures spring or fall. " He admits, twirling a black strand of hair around his finger as he thinks about it. " I didn't have any particular date in mind though. " One season had already passed, but the next was still ahead of them. More time to plan, he supposed. Plans that ultimately won't matter. But Seiroku selfishly does not want to give them up. He wants to stay in this dream for as long as he can. Maybe he can fool himself.

" What about you? " It's a genuine inquiry that the doctor asks of the captain. " It's not just about me after all. It's about both of us. I'm flexible if you would prefer something else. " He scoots a bit closer, enough so he can lean his head against Soma's side with a smile, chin tilted upwards to he can keep looking at Soma while they speak. " I want you to be happy too. It's a joint effort to have what we want. " Not what anyone else wanted, but whatever they wanted.

For this update, we’d like to announce that we have reworded our stance on “Characters from upcoming games”, as well as our spoiler window!

Before, it was that any character from a game that was “Unfinished” would have to wait until the game was finished for you to apply them, but upon further discussion with members, we concluded that this was a bit too much, so, now

You are allowed to apply characters from games that are in “Early Access” (As much as you could if a show’s season isn’t over!), so long as they have a characterization or plot that is set in stone and is unlikely to change! Basically, if the character has enough to work with, you’re good!

Though, if a character is mysterious with a backstory that is largely made up by headcanons or fan interpretation, we ask that you wait until there is much more to work with! (An example of this would be Kris and Ralsei from Deltarune, there’s quite a lot about them that we don’t know...)

And in the case of a character taking a shocking left turn, please look into updating them, or making them canon divergent! <:

And secondly, we would like to revise our stance on “Spoiler characters”, essentially, from now on, a month wait is enough for most characters that are considered spoilers (Minor to Moderate), after a month has passed since a game’s release or a spoiler episode, you should be good...

Unless they are considered a “Walking Spoiler”, a massive spoiler of a character that can change the flow of a story and who’s mere existence is a spoiler in itself. For that, you’ll likely be waiting 2 months or more, and the mod team will review if it’s ok for that character to be played, given how they may spoil something for people joining!

Over all, it’s much more of a case-by-case basis now, we may even shorten the wait time to apply characters from a new IP to two weeks! But, for now, we hope this results in many new and interesting characters joining us!

For other updates, we’re hoping to have posts up about some of the changes we’ve made to Elsternwick, including the Job System (Pretty simple!), an update to our wording on the ban list, and a few other fun surprises, and we hope you’ll look forward to reading about them!

We hope you have a lovely evening and look forward to seeing you again, wether you’re already in Elsternwick, or just visiting and thinking about joining!

(( OOC: As a side note, I feel as if someone is trying to ship my Muse with Soma against my or Soma's Mun's own desires, so because I am not into external third parties' shipping by playing "matchmaker", I won't be answering any further asks that have this vibe. This is the only time because I really wanted to clarify things and lay things straight and clean with everyone and anyone else who might have ideas of doing something similar. I appreciate the attention and care given to Kukki by her fans, but trying to ship her with someone she has no romantic connections with isn't something either her or me appreciate. 😅 ))

So until I can figure out how to get a link to my rules page that works, here is a rules post instead for now that I'll tag to no end and I'll pin it to the top of my blog.

Rules to look at before you send an ask or prompt in. This is always changing, but anything I don’t have listed, as in I haven’t listed it as a “No” here, I will at least try to do the ask/prompt. If I don’t like the ask or prompt, I will be changing the rules to avoid it happening again. Anyways, here are the rules:

Fandoms I will write about and the characters in them.

RWBY - Anyone, but I won’t write Cardin, Adam, or Jacques in a main character sense or a winning light. Any females are fair game because they all rock.

Naruto Shippuden - The only male I’ll write for now is Naruto Uzumaki (my childhood idol XD). Honestly Naruto is so long I don’t even remember a fourth of the characters in that anime, but by the power of the internet, I can look up anyone I don’t remember.

Fairy Tail - The only male that I know that I’ll be okay with writing about is Natsu Dragneel, but I can try to do it for other guys too. Again, all females are free game from here.

High School DxD - Issei is a solid male for me to write, but others might work too like Kiba or Gasper. Any girls will work! (This show is more than just fan-service and they are actually really entertaining. It needs more appreciation.)

RELATIONSHIPS — TALK ABOUT THE MUSE

NAME: i feel like this makes more sense to do it with hermes as opposed to fandaniel, so i’ll fill it out for him instead of the funny jester. sorry amon

ROMANTIC ORIENTATION: bisexual biromantic PREFERRED PET NAMES: ugh he’d be that type of guy to come up with the worst most extravagant pet names like “morning dove” or whatever. probably animal related. immediately gets embarrassed about it and regrets it but still does it every so often.

RELATIONSHIP STATUS: needs therapy

FAVOURITE CANON SHIP: n/a FAVOURITE NON-CANON SHIP: i don’t really ship him with anyone honestly. hermes/azem can be easily attainable depending on how someone writes them though, like they’re vague for a reason lol.

i could also see hermes/hyth and maybe like post-memory wipe even hermes/emet (although they’d have a LOT to work through given how emet sees his duty as the greatest gift one can have and hermes does............not. but since the memory wipe gets rid of a lot of that tension between them, i could see it in this scenario. oh could you imagine the potential for a fandaniel emet reunion with this though. that kinda rules)

OPINION ON TRUE LOVE: oh god does he want it to be real so bad but feels like a child for believing in it OPINION ON LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT: another thing he wants to believe in really badly but is less inclined towards as opposed to the concept of true love. likes it in books and whatnot, but doesn’t think it’s something that can happen in real life.

HOW ROMANTIC ARE THEY?: he would get much too flustered to actually achieve anything of real “romantic” merit, i think. he’s much better with smaller yet meaningful gestures.

IDEAL PHYSICAL TRAITS: i don’t think hermes would have much of a preference. IDEAL PERSONALITY TRAITS: someone who can simply understand him. hermes spends so much of his time believing he is isolated in his feelings that being able to work through them with someone is probably the best thing someone can offer for him. i think he would also like to be pushed out of his comfort zone a little bit. but they would need to know when to back off as well

Honestly I think the first panel here is the one in which Soma realized he's going to die for certain. The moment Tatsuomi got his arm around him and told him that he's long since decided to die alongside him, Soma knew there'd be no way out no matter what he tried to do. So I'd like to think that instead of wasting energy in trying to heal the damage with his obsidian heart, he used his last moments to send Seiroku one final "beat" of his heart before being completely annihilated by Tatsuomi's technique, which is funnily enough also the exact moment Seiroku's door opened in the last panel

You really understand Hatsuharu's relationship with Rin. Maybe, a little too much. You were there for him afterall, helping him cope up with her behaviour, letting him cry on you, you supported Hatsuharu. You love him.

You grew to love him just by being together with him was enough for you so when Hatsuharu confessed he too, fell for you, you couldn't believe it, until his lips touched yours, cloud of smoke blinded your eye, laughing as you stared at his Ox form.

You knew Hatsuharu would need a lot of time to fully move on from Rin so you were okay with letting Hatsuharu settle the phase for your relationship.

Lately, Hatsuharu has been spending less time with you to take care of Rin who once again, escaped from the hospital. You didn't mind how he would abruptly go to her side, you didn't mind how he called you to cancel your plans with a short apology, you didn't mind if he kept choosing her over you.

That is before you reached your tipping point.

When Hatsuharu went back to your shared apartment, he really just wanted to sleep. Rin's words continued to ring in his ear, he is beyond exhaustion. He is not in the right state to hear your complaints.

"So, I just want to have your time! I bought us some tickets to th-" "God, can you just please shut up!"

Hatsuharu glared at you, slamming his bag across the room. Your throat suddenly became dry, hands balled into a fist. Hatsuharu immediately wanted to punch himself for bursting on you like that, he was just so annoyed but even he, himself knew it was not a good excuse.

"(y/n)..." He fumbled on his words, what can he say in a situation like this? He wanted to comfort you, his hands were shaking. Wiping the tears from your eyes, you walked passed him and entered the bedroom, leaving Hatsuharu to contemplate on his actions.

"Fuck.." He clicked his tongue.

Hatsuharu grabbed a bottle of water and drank to calm himself down. When he heard the door opened, he turned around and was ready to apologise but his eyes trailed to the duffel bag you were carrying.

"Where are you going?" He questioned softly, even if he already knew the answer. He was hoping it wasn't what he was thinking. "Away." You smiled at him, masking your emotions like you always did.

"Let's break up, Haru. No, Sohma-kun." Hatsuharu's eyes widened, speechless. You took his silence as a que to leave. Mustering up all your strength, you grabbed the doorknob, twisting it to open the door. Hatsuharu acted fast, he slammed the door close, trapping you against it.

"No. You're not going anywhere! C-Can't we fix this?" His voice cracked, he can't let you leave him. You were the only one who understood him, only one who accepted him as a whole! "Please...(y/n)..." Tears streamed down his face, the sight of him broke you more, you had to be strong. Cupping his face, you wiped his tears, trying to soothe him.

"I'm sorry Haru. You kept on choosing her and I kept on choosing you." Biting your lip, you kissed his forehead, Hatsuharu melted against your touch.

"Let me choose myself this time."

Hatsuharu felt like time slowed down as you slipped away from his grasp.

The door closed and he broked down.

He hasn't heard from you for a week.

It was difficult to be away from him, everything just screamed for you to go back and wrap your arms around him. You stayed with Kyo for the mean time, telling them that your apartment was undergoing a few construction and Hatsuharu decided to stay at the main state.

They really didn't question you a lot, you were that good at lying and hiding plus they are your friends too. You continued on with your life, trying to distract yourself. You were currently asked to bring some materials to Tohru's room. "Oh, (y/n)! That looks heavy!" She mused, standing up to help you settle the materials on the teacher's desk.

You stayed for a while, laughing at how they teased Kyo with Tohru. Sometimes you just want to smack the two at how oblivious these two are to their feelings. Seeing them, reminded you of Hatsuharu. Your heart dropped, spacing out of the window, you wondered if he's doing well.

There's something off about the day, you just felt anxious, like something bad is going to happen.

"Oh, Haru turned dark and is currently on a rampage during the homeroom!" Momiji grinned. "What? Why didn't you say earlier!?" You and the others dashed out of the room, bumping towards several people.

You could hear him breaking the windows, the other students and teacher were ourside frightened. You entered the room, everything was a mess.

Kyo immediately tried to talk some sense into him. "Shut up stupid cat. You're very existence causes trouble for us, all! Stupid cat!" His remarked annoyed Kyo immediately.

"Haru, I don't know why you're causing a rampage, but you shouldn't do that here." Hatsuharu clicked his tongue. You knew this was your fault, you knew why he was angry. Seeing him at this state, made you doubt if your decision was right. "Princess Yuki is such a worry-wart. Afraid I'll accidentally transform on my rampage?" His eyes met yours, a frown replacing his smirk.

"What? You're here? How lame." You stepped closer, hands up in surrender. "Haru, stop it. Calm down." Your voice angered him even more. "Stupid. Stupid. So damn, stupid! You're so twitchy, you'll feel a lot better if everyone would know." He reached out to you, grabbing your arm roughly.

"H-Haru...it hurts..." His grip around you tightened, pulling you closer until Kyo punched him. "I don't care what's your problem but is that how you should treat your girl?!" Kyo placed you behind him, shielding you from Hatsuharu.

"What's it to you? She's not my girl anymore." Hatsuharu's words struck you, you felt yourself losing your composure. "Oh I see. You went for the kitty cat didn't you? I shou-" You cut him off with a slap. His cheeks immediately became swollen, everyone stood shocked at the scene. "Enough, Haru..." You walked out of the room, eyes following you everywhere.

Your steps became faster as the time passed, slowly turning into a full sprint. You didn't know where you were going, you just wanted to get out of there.

The teacher managed to settle the issue down by pouring water to both of them, calming Hatsuharu in a snap. After some counselling, Hatsuharu met up with the others, apologizing for his behavior before noticing you were not there. "Where's (y/n)?" He managed to choke out, it was clear to them that he was very anxious.

"She ran out and we haven't seen her since earlier." Tohru answered, fidgeting, not knowing how he would react.

Hatsuharu excused himself, wanting to look for you. You couldn't have gotten that far, he knows you enough to know where you would go. He reached the door to the rooftop, staring at it blankly. You were crying, he was sure of it, so why can't he just open the damn door?

He was scared.

Scared of what you would say to him, scared to lose you more.

"Triple shit." He cussed, letting the door open, hands shielding his eyes from bright rays. He immediately saw you sitting down, music blasting through your phone.

Your eyes were closed but you knew he was there, a shadow loomed over you. You refused to open your eyes, you too were afraid.

Is this what happens when you fall inlove? Is this what love really is? To be afraid of one another yet still want to cling to one another even knowing the fact that they can hurt you anytime?

Hatsuharu doesn't care about anything anymore, he can't let you go, he could never let you go. You were more important to him, he was just selfish. He couldn't let go of the past but he wants a presen and a future with you.

Hatsuharu is more than willing to put his past behind and put you first, that's what he realised during those days of solitude.

He grabbed your arm, pulling you closer to him, still being wary of not hugging you to close in order to prevent himself from transforming despite how startled you were. "Haru...?" You whispered, hands automatically finding its way around his body.

"Ah, I know now.." He smiled, enjoying the way your body tangled. "Home. I never realised it before. (y/n), you're my home." He buried his head against your neck, letting himself succumb to your scent.

"I'm sorry. I'm so fucking sorry for not being a good boyfriend. I know, I don't deserve you but you can count on me to make me deserve you, if you let me. Will you let me back?" You stared at him, nodding softly, before leaning in for a kiss.

Hatsuharu pulled you closer, his hand behind your head, deepening the kiss. It was desperate but passionate, the two of you missed each other. You love him, even if it hurts.

But is it really love if it doesn't hurt at all?

Your back was against the concrete, Hatsuharu straddled you, pinning you down as he continued to place kissed along your neck. "H-Haru! We can't do this he-ahh." Smirking upon seeing the purple hue on your neck, you smacked his chest. "But (y/n), let me show you how much I love you." He pouted, why did he have to be cute. Your fingeres played with his two-colored hair, you're really an idiot to this idiot.

"Yeah, yeah. Save it in closed doors will 'ya?" You stiffened, seeing Kyo and Yuki in the other side with a small tint of pink dusted on their cheeks. You immediately became flustered unlike Hatsuharu who calmly complained. "You guys are a cockblocker."

Tohru peered in, confused at why they are standing si stiffly. "Kyo? Yuki? Did you find the-" "IDIOT! DON'T LOOK!"

Hatsuharu had to leave to continue talking with his parents. He got suspended for a week while you were "sick" for a week as well.

Hatsuharu made it up to you for a whole week, assuring you that you will now be his first choice. You didn't have to worry about Rin anymore becuase everytime he needed to visit her, it was with you. He would always shield you if things became a little complicated, covering your ears when she said spiteful words, making me drag you out. That was the last time he visited Rin.

Now he's very clingy to you! Devoting his time and energy to you and only you. "(y/n), why are you too close with Yuki. I don't like it." Hatsuharu held you close, glaring at Yuki who just let out a sigh.

This is going to go under a read more because this is going to be massive but this is the most adorable thing ever to happen to Seiroku and it will forever be immortalized here

He's taken the day off to start it right rather than have his beloved wake up alone on his birthday, yet he couldn't help his body's habit of waking early. That's fine, though, as it offers him a chance to organize his thoughts for the day. The lead-up to it has been intense, with Soma having spent countless hours working on paperwork the entire past week to make certain there won't be any left for today, and besides his own duties as captain to take care of, there have been several other things, pertaining to Seiroku's birthday, that have required his attention.

First, and the most obvious, had been the purchase of gifts. For most others, Soma wouldn't bring himself to personally pick a present (preferring to order someone else to do it on his behalf) but Seiroku is special, and very much deserving of every drop of his time, no matter how busy he might have been during the past month (with his responsibilities, but also with the news of their engagement reaching every member of the Date as well as the remaining grand generals). Then, after his gifts had been prepared... to some of his nobles' dismay, Soma had also had a second, more extravagant idea in mind to follow suit with.

The thought of it amuses him ever so slightly, as it's even more of a celebration than he, as a grand general, receives on his birthdays (his are much stiffer, with him being expected to sit still for more than half a day to politely receive gifts from everyone in the band before a banquet takes place) and to an extent he wonders whether everything is going as smoothly as it had seemed the night before. It's all behind Seiroku's back, with Soma having refused to allow anyone to slip up about it, but with that secrecy also comes the impossibility to go check before the yellow soul wakes up. It's alright, he reassures himself right as he catches sight of Seiroku's blue eyes opening. No one would dare take the gamble with their tasks, not when they know just how important the other, and thus this plan, is to their captain.

A soft smile finds its way on Soma's visage when he gazes at his fiance with adoration in his eyes, raising his hand higher to caress the back of Seiroku's head as he leans in to grant him a forehead kiss. "Good morning, Seiroku." It's not immediately that he gets started on the birthday wishes, opting to allow the other to wake up at his own pace, and only when the doctor's gaze seems clearer does the captain lean in for a proper kiss and steals the spot of the first to wish him this. "Happy birthday." He's content to stay in bed for as long as Seiroku wishes to, and once they decide to get ready for the day there's a moment in which they're on separate sides of the room (in Soma's case not simply to grab his clothes, but to grab the gifts as well) though it doesn't last long, for Soma interrupts Seiroku's preparations with a hug from behind when it seems the only things left for him to do are to put on the jacket and tie his hair.

"Seiroku, I'm glad you're here with me." It can be interpreted as in the present moment, or in general - and Soma means it in both ways. "Your smile is more vibrant than the sun," He presses a kiss to Seiroku's shoulder then. "You're the smartest and most considerate person I know," He loosens his grip on the other, and there's a brief rustling sound while he takes out his present before pressing a hand to the doctor's shoulder to signal for him to stand still. Both of Soma's hands reach in Seiroku's hair, taking it upon himself to fix it for him... except he doesn't tie it, but arranges it, ultimately adding a final touch - the gift - to hold the hairstyle in place, and nudges him closer to the mirror. Taking advantage of Seiroku's gaze being on the mirror, the red soul reaches to the sides of the other's neck, carefully placing the second gift and tying it. It's meant to be a flower, but it can also be seen as a sun, and regardless of which his beloved chooses to view it as, he is both in Soma's eyes.

When the surprise starts to wear off, the captain gently turns him around to look in his eyes; bringing one of Seiroku's hands to his mouth to press a kiss to his knuckles. "And by far the most beautiful." The other would never need to do anything special with his looks to leave Soma breathless, that much was for certain. "Thank you for existing, Seiroku." He leans down to press a kiss to Seiroku's lips, his thumb caressing the hand he'd previously kissed. When they part there's a glint in his eyes as he squeezes the other's hand, and Soma chooses to give the yellow soul a peek at his next gift. Disregarding both Seiroku's jacket and his own haori for now, Soma leads him outside of their room and up the stairs, to the room with the best view of their band.

"You make my days brighter, but I'm not the only one that applies to." With that they tread towards the balcony, and as if on cue, fireworks start shooting into the sky the moment they're able to see the view. It takes a few seconds for the first fireworks to settle in before an unison birthday wish loudly and cheerily reaches them, and the source seems to be every member of the Date, gathered below the building and as far as the eye can see to celebrate Seiroku's birthday. Soma glances at the masses for a fleeting second, but his attention returns wholly on the man beside him, allowing the faintest of smiles to remain on his face regardless of whether or not his people will see it. It's fine if they don't, but it's also fine if they do - it's not a secret that Seiroku makes Soma happy, and they must all already be aware of the fact from the way he has orchestrated an entire celebration resembling a festival for Seiroku's birthday, with various kinds of foods, shops free of price for the star of the celebration and individual gifts from everyone the yellow soul has made life even a bit better for (through either his presence, skills or friendship).

Even when Seiroku is still fast asleep, his face turns to nuzzle towards Soma’s gentle touch with a relaxed exhale. He knows that touch and warmth even then. Some time passes before he actually starts to stir, before his lashes start to move and he blearily opens his eyes. It’s warmer than it usually is. Warmer in a way that makes him want to sink right back into sleep but he doesn’t. Instead, he blearily peers up to see Soma still there beside him despite the fact he’s usually not. “ Soma. “ He murmurs, his lips curving up at the corners with a smile just at saying the name, let alone the fact he sees him there. “ Good morning. “ He greets in kind, voice soft with sleepiness and he leans into the gentle kiss.

It takes more of a moment for him to really start to be awake, for the haze to leave his mind. He hums, arms lifting to wrap around Soma’s shoulders as he accepts the proper kiss with an easy smile. He wants to ask about the why of Soma being here, but more than that, he wants to enjoy what seems to be a birthday coincidence. But it would never be something so thoughtless as coincidence would it? No, because Soma offers him words he hasn’t heard from someone he knows in years. Blue eyes widen in surprise, undisguised and obvious before his face relaxes and the smile seems even happier than before. “ Thank you, Soma. “ That was enough to make him happy. Two words. An acknowledgement.

Soma doesn’t seem in any rush to get up though, and Seiroku is happy take that opportunity to simply cuddle and soak up Soma’s presence. As far as he’s aware, it is more or less another day. He knew the medical team had talked about doing something tonight, but that was later. So for the most part, he assumed things would be normal. ( He had no idea just how wrong he was. ) Other than this. So he enjoys it, before pulling himself up with a quick kiss to Soma’s lips before he turns away to start preparing for the day. He’s treated himself to a nicer outfit than he typically wears ; not gaudy or flashy but a bit more detailed, a little more gold embroidery that winds over a field of white.

He hums when he feels Soma’s arms suddenly around him. Unexpected, but not unwelcomed by any means. Instead he leans back into the hold with a smile. “ Aren’t I supposed to be sayin that? I’m the one spoiled with attention this morning. “ Seiroku replies with a gentle laugh. He leans his head back against Soma when he feels the kiss to his shoulder, a content sigh on his lips. He was being spoiled. They’re sweet words, and it makes his chest both warm and ache a tad to hear how Soma sees him. But today...today he won’t dwell on anything besides the now. (He knows well none of the other current eight will either know or acknowledge the day.. In the past there were those who would. But none now.) So it is just him, as he is here with the Date. Curiosity perks at the sound of rustling, but he stays still when he feels Soma’s touch urging him to stay still.

Seiroku doesn’t expect to feel Soma’s hands in his hair, but he has no protest to it. Even when its drastically different from his signature hairstyle into something more styled than a ponytail. And curiosity grows when he feels something be tucked into his strands of black. Still. he waits with burning curiosity till Soma urges him to look and he immediately takes to examining both style and gifted. It sits like a golden comment in his hair, a painting of star streaking across the night, but instead of oil and canvas its black hair and gold, jeweled metal. He draws in an awed breathe, too busy to pay heed to Soma’s movements for another gift. He’s never been one to wear many accessories besides that which cannot be removed, but he likes this. The little extra it adds.

His gaze turns towards the delicate necklace, and it takes effort to swallow the sob that’s starting to creep up his throat. He thought the attention had been enough of a gift. But then there was the hairpin and necklace too. So much happier and daintier than that which stays hidden under the collar of is outfit. This one is on display for everyone to see. Proudly. As it should be, as it deserves. “ Soma! “ He breathes, speechless. How- Where does he even begin? How much can words ever hope to express of the warmth and love that swells in Seiroku’s chest? They’d never do it justice.

It’s silly a simply kiss this knuckles brings rosy color to his cheeks, but it does. It’s so delicate, intimate in a different way than typical associations of the word or action. He knows its his day supposedly, but he can’t help his return. “ I'm lucky enough the universe let me meet you. “ He answers before pressing into the kiss. “ Thank you, Soma. “ He breathes. “ For remembering. For these gifts. “ They’re the first real gifts he’s had in.....so long that it makes his breath stutter with a smile. He won’t let these go. They’ll always be as special as they are on this day, if not more so. “ Just you would have been MORE than enough. But I love these. “ He murmurs, pressing another kiss to Soma’s lips, one of his own to grant his general.

It feels so strange to evidently be in the dark about something. But where if it was anyone else he would have suspicious, he trusts Soma and feels innocent curiosity. Not the only one? He wonders how outside could factor in or why they were going outside to begin with.

Suddenly fireworks explode and Seiroku’s eyes go wide with surprise and wonder. His gaze turns up to watch the colors explode, and then just as quickly turns back down towards the crowd when the roar of delighted voices ring out. It stuns him, jaw dropping slightly in sheer surprise seeing everyone. Hearing the cheers and hollers and well wishes. Despite Soma’s hold, his hands grasp at the railing to help keep himself upright. There’s so many that he can’t even begin to count them all. It’s a wave of emotion so violent it’s like being slammed into mountain, happiness so large that it hurts. Happiness so thick he could shield himself forever in it. It destroys his senses and disorients everything.

Seiroku shuts his eyes and offers a beaming smile that comes from deepest parts of his happiness. Nothing faked or only for show. He doesn’t know what to do in the face of this - both in something so grand, and something like this for him. That so many people would want to celebrate, that so many would choose to. So he offers a bright smile to them all. To Soma, to the medical team, to the soldiers and civilians and to everyone that can see him as he waves to them with a Thank you! that certainly can’t be heard everywhere but it shows in his joy.

And his tears. They can’t be seen from the ground but he knows Soma can see them. Tears of happiness that slide down his cheeks as he smiles till his cheeks hurt and even then. This is more than something Seiroku could have ever imagined or thought up of, even in his wildest dreams it never would have happened. To think people would...value his day, would want to celebrate it. He can already tell there’s so much more head too with the glance outside. It reminds him of the festival where everything had really started. And that only adds to the happiness that already feels too much in the best way. Until he sinks back against Soma with a breathy laugh that makes his chest and face ache and can stare up at Soma’s faint smile.

“ You- all this, and without me having any clue. “ Frankly, Seiroku wants to kiss him breathless right this instant but knows that restraint, at least in front of everyone for now. But he reaches to grasp Soma’s hand and squeeze as he gives a private smile for Soma alone while his brain still wraps around.......everything. It is, without a doubt, one of the best moments in his long life. To see people who care and want to celebrate with him. “ Thank you... “ They aren’t the fanciest words, but sometimes simplicity is the most genuine. He’ll find a thousand and one ways to show Soma his thanks.

most of my muses who experience romantic attraction prefer monogamy by default — all my muses are just me in a hat, and i’m very much built for monogamy. so it’s faster to just talk thru exceptions than anything else!

daria is monogamous in the traditional sense, but does not consider sleeping with or going on dates with clients cheating, and would be put off by a partner who asked that she quit her work. ( she’d only quit if she was with a long - term partner who was very well - off and could support her, and that’s going to take a year, if not more. giving up her source of income is dangerous and gives another power over her that she needs a lot of trust for. ) in the same way, she doesn’t care if a partner who’s a sex wo.rker continues to sleep with clients, but would feel betrayed if they slept with or dated others for non - work reasons. i only mention her because i know some people feel differently about whether sex wo.rk based stuff is cheating or not. ( it isn’t, but y’know. )

aika is not monogamous by default, though will be monogamous if asked by a partner assuming she doesn’t have any other partners. reapers typically have multiple partners, so that’s what feels intuitive to her. that being said, aika’s romantic vibes are such that she typically has multiple fuckbuddies and a few poor boys she’s leading on, versus her having multiple actual partners. not because she doesn’t want real partners! she’s just selfish, so by default most of her relationships start as a using versus anything likely to lead to more. ( it doesn’t help that people overwhelmingly love the idea of aika and put her on a pedestal that she detests. )

august is open to trying polyamory at some point, though thinks of himself as monogamous — but they’ve never tried anything else, so he can’t say for sure at this point.

elodie doesn’t mind partners sleeping with other people so long as she’s informed but does not want partners actually dating others. find others sexy? fine. but don’t fall in love with anyone else.

soma doesn’t know what monogamy is. it’s very intuitive to soma to blend romantic and platonic feelings; in main verse, she’s very in love with both yakumo and io, and considers themself to be partnered to both, even if not explicitly romantically. that being said, if she and someone are explicitly romantically dating, she will not attempt to romantically date others, though usually won’t care if a partner does. if you want her to be in a romantic relationship with you and another person, you have to invite her directly.

nami thinks she’s polyamorous but is actually super monogamous. she’s just never had a chance to have a monogamous relationship, and when she’s gotten close it was always rooted in control and abuse so that’s what she associates monogamy with. get her in a healthy relationship and watch her be like Holy Shit????

mostly unrelated but while we’re talking shipping, fiona, alice, and angela are all functionally ace / aro. with all of them, this is at least partly informed by trauma. fiona is the only one i could see this really changing for at current, and she’s still likely to remain sex - repulsed even longer than she remains uninterested in romance — which is a long time. if such a time came that fiona could date, she’d be monogamous, though.
