"Ah, the errand boy of Olympus! I thought I heard a rat." He isn't pleased with the visit let alone who it was by. Magisterial doorboy... who the Hel does this pompous brat think he's talking to? "You're lucky I don't cut out your tongue for speaking to me like that. Have you no manners? Whatever happened with Hello, wonderful and glorious Heimdall! I seek passage into Asgard, would you grace me with your oh-so-brilliant presence and grant me access?" The god rolls his eyes. He dismisses the thought with a wave of his hand a sigh.

"I did tell you to be careful." Comments the Aesir god, sat neat upon a rock and looking down at his charge. His hand rests against his cheek and he looked very unimpressed with things. "But no, let's not listen to the man responsible for bearing me to safety! Let me do the exact OPPOSITE of what I was told to do!" He raises his right eyebrow. Yes, quite unimpressed.

For a moment, Heimdall doesn't respond. Instead, when the beast speaks to him, he turns and pulls his weapon from its sheathe and points it in their direction.
Tumblr media
"I thought I heard something happen in Hel. I'm surprised you managed to break free! Yet, out of all the places you could have gone, you've chosen Asgard? Stupid choice, mutt, stupid choice." He pays no mind to the comments, knowing that it was a reaction Garm was likely looking for. "If you've heard of me, Garm, you'll know that I am not the fight you want. I'll give you one chance to turn around and run back the way you came. If you don't, I will kill you."

Now this was an interesting development and one that had, shockingly, taken Heimdall somewhat by surprise. He had wholeheartedly believed the boy to fall back to his previous behavior- fire first and think about consequences later- but... he hadn't! Instead, he had stepped between the two and diffused the situation, refused to give in to the anger Heimdall was certain his words were creating. The boy learns fast.
"Well, I think it's time for use to return, don't you? That is, if you two are done with your tantrum." He turns away from them, a small smile cracked upon his lips. A sense of pride in his chest overshadowed by the bitterness of not getting what he was after. He'll have to try again with a different method next time. He'll have to dig deeper, find that spark that ignites the flame. Then, and only then, would he have reason to remove the parasite. Would it put him in bad light with the All-Father? Certainly, but it was a risk worth taking for the safety of his realm.
"Let's go."

Sometimes... sometimes a god needed a moment to get away from everything. As much as he had love for the people of Asgard, for his father, sometimes it became a little too overwhelming for him to handle. Now, it was difficult for a god with powers such like himself to find some solace. Given that he could see and hear farther than most in any realm and he had to as part of his job, it was hard to just... turn things off. He needed something to distract him, something to take his mind of the wanderings and responsibilities he was bound to.
Tumblr media
With permission, he took leave of his post and traveled (with the help of one of Odin's raven) down the wall where, away from the populace of those not Aesir, he found a nice little cove away from the prying eyes of others. This would make an excellent spot to catch up on his reading and maybe even have a little snooze and it was exactly where Heimdall intended to stay. Luckily for him there was a spot beneath a tree to offer him shade from the sun. Yes, this place would do very nicely for the god to relax a moment.

That's what he was afraid of hearing. Two fools standing over a massive crater found in Asgard and neither had any idea how or why it was there. The fact it had arrived without the watchman's notice was worrisome and sent a tingle of anxiety under his skin. The urge to get closer and find out what had caused this massive hole was strong, but Heimdall knew he couldn't put his charge in any danger lest he earn the ire of both peoples.

So powerful and yet so young. "You're not from these parts are you, child?" Up in a tree rested Heimdall, leg hanging off the branch he sat upon and swinging lazily back and forth.

"No, you are far from home... very, far from home I'd wager. But what brings you here, I wonder? Come to collect something? To find something... or perhaps, someone?" He shoves himself from the branch and lands on the ground with a soft thud.

Tch. Talking as if she knew him. Classic behavior for one of the Sisters. Heimdall, up until this point, had remained respectful toward her despite the urge to do away with the formalities and speak plainly. Odin had asked him to be on his best behavior when he arrived as the answer to his questions would be entirely dependent upon it... and he hated that. Forced by both parties to be a good little watchman and suffer this woman's trite.

"Yes well, thank you for the unwarranted advice, truly, I really appreciate it. But can we turn back to the matter at hand? I am not here for myself, I am here on the All-Father's behalf- yes, I'm sure you're aware." He had no desire to really be here. The Norns made his skin crawl. To be known from his past, his present, and future- it was information he was glad he didn't have access to, even with his own powers.
"He asks again for the same answer to which I'm sure you'll respond the same. What will become of him, Verdande? Will Skuld not share her knowledge with him?"

@box-of-characters said: "The air here is so crisp! So--" Pure. Shaded by a parasol to keep herself from being scorched beneath the sun's brilliant light, Tsuki couldn't help but let a joyful smile take to her features as her head lifted ever so slightly in order to better feel the cold wind's gentle caress. Attention eventually returned to the other, but that beaming smile refused to fade. "Forgive me, I suppose I got lost in the moment." It was then a quiet laugh bubbled forth from the deity's throat. "By chance, would you care to join me on a walk? If you aren't too busy with your duty, of course. It will be nice to relax before sitting down for what is sure to be a long meeting..."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"I'm always busy." Comes the annoyed response. It should be common knowledge that someone like him would be busy all the time, shouldn't it? Or perhaps he is the only one (aside from the All-Father that is) that actually uses their brain? This was proving to be rather irksome. Why was it always his duty to entertain guests? Why not make Thor or Sif or literally anyone else do this? Perhaps it was a joke for Odin. To see the son that hated people the most try and make nice with them... he knew the ravens reported to the man about his activities, this would be no different.
"But... I can make time." He says with a defeated sigh, shoulders relaxing a bit. "It would be best to get any excess energy out before the meeting so you aren't distracted during." He gives his arms a little stretch and suppresses a yawn, turning toward his company with arms crossed over his chest. "Well? You wanted a walk, you decide where we go. Lead the way."

"Thought you could hide, did you?" Steps forth from behind a boulder, eyes scanning his surroundings while his ears listened for any hint of his prey. He had spotted someone new in Asgard and, like he does with every new face, he was determined to be the first to meet, the first to greet, and the first to turn away if they were going to be troublesome for the realm... and his opinion wasn't very good given the current circumstances.
"Is that what you usually do, stranger? Do you... suddenly appear and then hide? That doesn't look very good, especially since you've yet to introduce yourself!" He turns, hearing the slight shift of leather against stone to his right. "And when I approached, you ran. Things certainly don't look good, my friend! I do wish you'd stop hiding. Come out and meet me face to face!" His hand rests on the hilt of his sword, his weight supported on one hip.
"Let me judge who and what you are and you may yet walk freely among my realm."

There is the quietest gasp as his jaw is grabbed. The force behind the fingers that grip him is enough to leave a dull ache in his bones. He is forced to look up, to look into the eyes that speak nothing but harm upon him. He tries to break free, but that vice grip only gets tighter and leaves Heimdall wincing.
"What do you think you're doing?!" He hisses, gripping her wrist tightly. "Unhand me!" He yanks again but finds no relief in his situation. "Do you know who I am?! What you're even doing! Let go, dammit!" The watchman did not like what he saw in her eyes, did not like the smile that was slowly spreading itself across her features. He felt much like a mouse in the cat's claws, small and insignificant- but he wasn't insignificant, he was Heimdall, watchman of the Aesir! And she dares lay hands on him?!

Tumblr media Tumblr media
"It's... not the worst thing I've ever eaten..." Which was true. There were plenty of things Heimdall had eaten that would trump the olives in taste and presentation. But, while the olives themselves weren't horrible, they certainly weren't the best he's eaten either, and he felt bad for it. After hearing how uncultured the Norse god's tongue was to the food of the world, the Olympian had leaped at the chance to make him something new, something exciting. Well, exciting to Hermes. Heimdall was a picky eater- had been since his birth and it was a curse he had to carry. Still, determined to find a reason to like this food (since it was Hermes who had gone through the trouble of getting them), Heimdall decides that maybe he should eat them with the cheese as suggested before. When he pops the two in his mouth and makes the first bite, his tongue is overwhelmed with the combination of flavors.
There was a twang to the olives that, when paired with the buttery flavor of the cheese, blended beautifully together. What he didn't like about the olive by itself he loved when combined and it was plain on his face when his eyes widened in surprise.
"Well, I stand corrected," He mumbles, taking a moment more to savor the taste. "I should have listened. They fit together perfectly." He leans a little into the god, taking comfort in the closeness. "How did you figure out the combination? Trial and error?" Or perhaps Hermes just happened to know food so well that he only needed his intuition to figure it out? Regardless, Heimdall was happy he had listened. This was definitely going to be one of his favorite things to eat.

@of-thieves said: [ TELL ]  for receiver to look towards sender after a battle and realize they’re bleeding
Tumblr media
Talk about an impressive display. Heimdall never thought he'd see the day he'd get to see the Olympian fight let alone fight with him, and he was pleased with the way they seemed to be working together. Heimdall was not nearly as quick as Hermes nor (as he soon realized) was he as strong. When he downed one beast, Hermes had at least five. He would have complimented the god if they hadn't gotten separated by the sheer numbers of the Tatzlewurm and Wretchs burrowing from beneath the ground. He didn't realize so many could appear at once but had no difficulty dealing with them, not initially. The longer the fight went on, the harder it was for Heimdall to keep swinging and dodging. Exhaustion weighed so heavily on his bones that he eventually stumbled to his knees, using his blade as support to prevent him from collapsing completely. Seeing this, the beasts thought to circle and trap him, drawing ever closer, certain that this would be an easy kill. What fools they were.
In one singular surge, Heimdall summons the power of the Bifrost and unleashes it in a massive wave that annihilated every beast it touched until nothing but he and Hermes remained. What a fight... What a fight! That was fun! It was exhilarating! Even though his body begged for rest, Heimdall stood, triumphant and proud. He lets out a whooping holler, happy to have beaten such a horde of stupid beasts, but when he looks to find Hermes, his smile fades with the color from his face. Hermes was bleeding.
Tumblr media
"Hermes!" Heimdall rushes over, dropping Hǫfuð into the mud. "Skitr! You fool! What happened?! Where are you hurt?!" He was angry, but not at Hermes, at himself. Getting separated should have been the first sign there was trouble, but he had assumed Hermes could handle himself- no, Hermes could handle himself... but two were stronger than one and it was Heimdall's fault that Hermes fought alone. These injuries were his fault and he would never forgive himself for it.

@santo-sussurratore said: [ FOLLOW ]  for sender to find receiver at the end of a trail of blood.
Tumblr media
It was not the first time Heimdall had seen battle. While not as strong as some of his brothers, he had his own methods of fighting. Foresight did wonders against his opponents, telling him what they were going to do before they even did it made it amazingly easy to maneuver around and disarm them before going in for the kill, and so far he had done the same trick with several of his assailants who he couldn't recognize. They weren't Aesir, that was certain, but they weren't Vanir either, nor anything he's seen across the realms before. These were an entirely new enemy, not that it really mattered to him.
Tumblr media
Behind him, Heimdall left a trail of carnage. He was swift and he was merciless and cut through the forces like a hot knife through butter. He didn't care if the blood had stained his bright white clothing nor if it splattered onto his face- the sheer audacity to attack him of all people, especially when he offered peace first? Any shred of sympathy he may have had for them was quickly dashed with the first strike. If they wanted a fight, they would have one, and he would continue to cut them down until none remained.
Easier said than done, it seemed, as exhaustion was not far behind. He chased his attackers into a dense forest where he quickly lost track of them. In his wild pursuit, he didn't notice the string of a trap before it was too little too late. The world spun as his feet were yanked out from underneath him. He drops his sword in the confusion and had very little time to comprehend what was going on before his head collides with a nearby boulder that knocks him out cold.
