The gold chandeliers shine on your boss’ face, reflecting on his midwinter eyes with mixes of yellows and whites. His brown bandage wrap covers his Saint Peter's cross, presenting himself as an average citizen instead of an oddity. The once slicked back ebony hair was now down, framing his chiseled face.  

Your ears are filled with the soft, classical music playing in the restaurant, making you feel like you're in a vintage movie. The masses of antique paintings hanging on the bold walls also enhanced the ambiance. It is no wonder that he chose this place; it fits him so well.

His soft smile ensnares you, and contagiously you smile back at him. The soft, genuine look in his eyes has you melting. Who could've known the leader of the infamous Phantom Troupe turned out to be Mr. Tall, dark, and handsome?

Chrollo’s silky voice interrupts your thoughts. "How have you been liking the spiders so far?"

While admiring his handsome features, your attention was briefly diverted.

"Oh, oh, they're great. I'm glad I've finally met people who share things in common with me." By in common, you meant: rough-home life, outcasts, and full of devilry. "I won’t lie. I was nervous that they wouldn’t be welcoming. That they didn't want a new member. But they made me feel right at home."

His smile lines present themselves to you. "I'm glad to hear that. I'm sure they adore you just as much."

You smile at that thought. Taking another bite of your dinner as he kept looking at you with tenderness, you add on, "Especially the girls.. They seem rough and closed off, but they're sweethearts. Just like the sisters I've never had."

"You have no idea how happy I am to hear that." Danchou smiles at you, and you could've sworn you saw a shimmer on his canines.

You beam at his words, his own happiness making you happy. Continuing smiling, he takes your hand into his own, holding it above the table, rubbing your thenar web space.

"I'm so glad we found you. You're exactly what the troupe needed."

His tired eyes hold eye contact with you as your heart sinks into your stomach. Your shy smile is accompanied by a feeling of appreciation that you've never felt before. Who could've guessed the leader of a murderous cult was so charismatic?

"Your nen abilities are extraordinary. You certainly are a blessing to have." He continues.

"I'm glad I found you guys, too." Your cheeks are almost burning as you feel heat move to them.

You're the first to break the eye contact, the mutual gaze and flattery proving to be too intimate for you. But Chrollo continued to stare at you, his eyes glistening‌ ‌with‌ ‌admiration.

Looking down at your plate, you smile to yourself, which doesn’t miss his eyes. The busy chatter of all the other patrons has long been gone, leaving the distant sound of pots and pans clattering and the elegant music blending in together.

Chrollo keeps staring at you, noticing and taking in all your features. He felt intrigued by you. It wasn't often when he really felt enamored by a nen user, or even a nenless person. After all, he is the best of the best. Creating a big name for himself in the hunter world, good and bad. It was all the same to his neglected heart.

Your unique and strong hatsu has Chrollo wrapped around your little finger. An achievement that many haven’t managed.

He felt that you had been given as a precious gift from the heavens, thanking him for helping and creating a home for the less fortunate. The first time you were introduced to him, the gears in his mind were turning, picturing how perfect your skills would be for his heists. Though he trusts the other spider’s abilities, he knew you were a force to be reckoned with. Someone that would make his future plans go by untroubled. He was already eager to see you in action.

You, however, were excited to get to know him some more.

Once the mods do February’s activity check (or before the end of March), I’m going to put in a drop for all of my muses (Shibata Katsuie on @geometragic​, Azai Nagamasa on @absurdjustice, and Kato Kiyomasa on @tigerstrategist). Also, I’m cutting down a lot on social media in general for the sake of my mental health, and I’m going to accomplish that in part by leaving Tumblr completely. I’m really thankful for all of my rp partners on here (both indie and in Isola) and the threads I had with all of you ! I just don’t have the time or energy anymore for roleplaying that I had before I started my job, and I don’t want my portrayals of any of my muses to suffer because of it. ^^;

The program Katsuie will be stuck in is a bad supernatural hunting / reality show (think something similar to Finding Bigfoot). At first, Katsuie would probably be really into trying to hunt down a supernatural creature, but once he realizes that he’s been sent on a wild goose chase / that action only happens because the TV crew is messing with the cast of the show, he’d probably become annoyed and pretty unmotivated in regards to actually finding the supposed creature. Katsuie can also be stuck in your muse’s show instead, if you’d like !

Katsuie’s still not very familiar with Spirale, so there’s a good chance he’ll end up getting swallowed by the mist. Who knows, though —– maybe he’ll manage to escape it and find one of the paths instead.

Katsuie’s Sentient Data Imprints (if you pick one that isn’t a version of Katsuie, I’ll rp the normal Katsuie and include the other character as an NPC): 

Past Katsuie / Kaioh: The same as the version of Katsuie that you saw if he was wearing the faulty mask during the last event. Katsuie becomes more energetic and outspoken, but he also acts much more noticeably insecure, envious, and aggressive towards others. He also looks like this and has long, flowing, braided hair.

Anime Route Katsuie: Similar to the normal Katsuie, except that he’s become more mentally unstable since he got kicked out of the Oda clan and listened to Hideyoshi Toyotomi’s advice. This Katsuie fantasizes about returning to the past or, alternatively, ending it all, and chuckles in an eerie, hollow way. If he sees someone he knows from his past, he’ll feel an urge to kill them.

Post-Drama Route Katsuie: This Katsuie is more mentally stable and determined than the normal Katsuie. After killing Nobunaga (with Masamune Date’s encouragement) and starting to be able to envision a future for himself again, Katsuie is more optimistic and values his life more. He also just started working for the Date clan, after leaving the Oda clan.

Oichi: Nagamasa’s wife, Katsuie’s crush, and the troubled younger sister of the Demon King, Nobunaga Oda. However, unlike the Oichi who’s already in Spirale, this Oichi doesn’t really know who Katsuie is and is wary of him. Oichi’s bio is here !

Sakon Shima: Katsuie’s friend / rival, and a happy-go-lucky man who loves to gamble. He’s friendly towards most people, even if they don’t feel the same, although he hates cheaters. If he shows up during this event, he and Katsuie will most likely team up. Sakon’s bio is here !

1. Is your muse a romantic? Do they dream of love and marriage?

Katsuie’s definitely a romantic ! A lot of the dreams Katsuie still has left revolve around marrying Oichi, doing lovey-dovey couple things with her, and starting a family with her. XD He honestly obsesses over it too much, though —– to the point that he has trouble seeing himself in a relationship with anyone who isn’t Oichi, or in a relationship that doesn’t necessarily involve marriage and starting a family. ^^;

7. Is your muse the big spoon or the little spoon?

Like I mentioned in my previous post, Katsuie likes to think that he’s dominant, so he’d also like to think that he’ll always end up being the big spoon. So, in general, he’ll always try to be the big spoon. If his partner is taller than him, then he’d probably begrudgingly accept being the little spoon. But it’s not as though partners who are smaller than him have no chance of being the little spoon, though ! Katsuie just likes to be in control of a relationship and the one who’s in charge, because (for most of his verses) it’s one of the only things in his life that he feels like he has control over. With time, Katsuie can grow to trust his partner to the point that he learns that it’s okay to let his partner be in charge sometimes, and that’s when he’d be fine with being the little spoon. ^^

9. Is your muse attracted to any features in particular?

I’m going to link back to an old meme response for this one. Basically, Katsuie is most attracted to people who look and act like Oichi, regardless of their actual gender. However, he also likes kind people who give him affection without any reservations / conditions / etc. ^^

12. Is your muse easily flustered? Do they blush, swear, etc.?

In general, Katsuie isn’t easily flustered by other people...but that’s mostly because he’s ‘off the market’ / dating Oichi in his own mind and doesn’t tend to pick up on when other people flirt with him / show that they’re attracted to him / etc. XD If he somehow manages to pick up on someone flirting with him and he’s not attracted to that person, he’ll probably respond either with disgust or acting offended that they tried to flirt with him when he’s clearly (?) devoted to Oichi. However, if Katsuie somehow manages to pick up on someone flirting with him and he is attracted to that person, he’ll probably start to blush and maybe even flirt back with them in his own weird, hesitant, Katsuie way. XD

Now, if Oichi suddenly showed up in front of him, it’d be a whole different story ! Katsuie would get super-flustered to the point that he’d stop paying attention to almost anyone and anything around him and focus exclusively on her. XD

13. Where is your muse most sensitive?

His neck ! Katsuie be exceptionally weak to being kissed there by his partner or being tickled there with something light like a feather. ^^

How strictly do you follow ‘canon’? — I’d say that I follow canon pretty strictly ! Though I do add my own headcanons. ^^ I need to update some of my pages so that they’re more in line with canon, though. Especially Katsuie’s modern verse, now that the Basara Academy anime has been out for over a year... XD

Sell your muse! Try to list everything that makes your muse interesting (in your opinion) to make them spicy for your mutuals.  —   Katsuie comes off as really normal and very chill at first, which lets him easily have a first meeting interaction with most muses without angering them / fighting them / killing them / etc. But the more you delve into his thoughts and the things he does, you can see how warped his mindset is when it comes to certain subjects / people. ^^ And he’s a depressed emo kid, so I'd imagine that a lot of people on Tumblr would connect with him over that. XD 

Now the opposite. List every reason why your muse might not be so interesting (even if you may not agree, what does the fandom think?).  —   Back when SB4 first came out, Katsuie got a lot of flak for his creepy obsession with Oichi, which is admittedly pretty bad. Since she’s, you know, married, and Katsuie’s willing to go so far as to kill Nagamasa, her husband, for a chance (?) to be with her. Not to mention Katsuie’s anime route, where he gets himself kicked out of the Oda clan, destroys his own hopes and dreams in the process by killing everyone in the Azai clan (Nagamasa, Oichi, and Maria), and finally gets mercy-killed by the former shogun. Yikes. ^^; I’m honestly surprised that, in my five years roleplaying Katsuie, no one’s sent in anon hate to me because of Katsuie’s behavior. (Unfortunately, a former rp partner of mine once got anon hate years ago for shipping Katsuie and Oichi. ;u;)

𝐖𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐏𝐈𝐑𝐄𝐃 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐓𝐎 𝐑𝐏 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐌𝐔𝐒𝐄? —  Katsuie’s actually my very first muse ! ^^ I started writing him at the end of my senior year of high school. I think I’d been into Sengoku Basara for a year or two at that point, and I’d been reading translations that people were making for SB4. I’d also been following Sengoku Basara roleplayers / ask blogs (there were several active ones around back then), and I really enjoyed reading their interactions, so I wanted to pick a Sengoku Basara character so that I could roleplay with them, too ! I tried writing for a couple of potential muses in private to test them out, but it felt most natural to write for Katsuie, so I went with him as my first muse ! I probably chose him because I’d gone through a bunch of not-so-fun stuff in high school, so I saw Katsuie going through a bunch of not-so-fun stuff in the Oda clan and sympathized with that.

𝐖𝐇𝐀𝐓 𝐊𝐄𝐄𝐏𝐒 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐈𝐍𝐒𝐏𝐈𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐆𝐎𝐈𝐍𝐆?  —  To my knowledge, I’ve been the only one roleplaying Katsuie semi-consistently over the past five years ? He’s just such an interesting character to me —– it’d be too sad to close this blog and not see anyone’s Katsuie interact with other people’s muses anymore. ;u; It’s something I’ve been a little worried about recently because I know I’m going to be more busy in the future, since I’m (hopefully) going to finish up my research this year, get my master’s degree next year, and then go straight into a serious full-time job. I don’t want to give up rolepaying, but if I get too busy next year... >.<

If someone disagrees with a headcanon of yours, do you want to know why? —   Yeah, because it’s interesting to see how other people view Katsuie ! From my point of view, if someone disagrees with one of my headcanons on Katsuie, it means that they’re interested enough in him and have thought about him enough to have their own opinions on him. It’s so so so so difficult to get anyone interested in muses from a series as niche and JP-only as Sengoku Basara, so I’d honestly be happy if someone cared enough about Sengoku Basara and Katsuie to disagree with me on my headcanons for Katsuie, as strange as that sounds. XD

If someone disagrees with your portrayal, how would you take it? —  I think my answer to this question would be basically the same as the last one. I probably wouldn’t change my portrayal at this point, though ? I’ve had it for a long time and I’m actually really happy with it. ^^ Probably the only reason why I’d change my portrayal is if someone found / made more translations of the games that Katsuie is in (SB4, Sumeragi, Sanada Yukimura-den, Batopa, etc.) and I found canon details in the new translations that really clashed with details in my portrayal. In that case, I’d change my portrayal to match with canon.

If someone really hates your character, how do you take it? —  That’s fair, honestly, especially when it comes to things Past!Katsuie / Kaioh has said and done, and even just things Default!Katsuie has done. Katsuie’s a really messed-up dude, and his views on things can be really twisted sometimes. And hey, if someone hates Katsuie, at least that means that they care about him on some level, right ? XD Apathy is the one thing that really kills my muse.

Are you okay with people pointing out your grammatical errors? —  Sure ! If they can find them. XD I edit my drafts A LOT before I actually publish them, so usually I manage to catch all my mistakes, although the occasional mistake slips through every so often. Hemingway Editor is honestly a lifesaver when it comes to finding simple spelling errors and helping me write my sentences so that they’re a reasonable length and don’t have too many adverbs / phrases written in passive voice / etc.

Do you think you are easygoing as a mun? —  I think so ! ^^ I just want to roleplay my muses and have a good time watching them grow and form relationships with other muses, that’s all. If there’s something I don’t like, I know to mute / unfollow / block / etc. and move on. Life’s too short to get involved in drama.
