The Barbie movie had a ton of stuff going on but most of it worked at least a little bit, the one thing that didn’t work for me at all was the girl and her mom.

#Idk it could have worked it just felt like they had a Disney Channel Original Movie plot in with all the rest of the SNL-type stuff #Barbie interacting with her audience could have been the heart of the whole movie and I think they wanted it to be but it felt tacked on #even though it was technically critical to the whole storyline but that was so easy to forget #I also felt like Barbie interacting with just the one random old lady in the park was more powerful than EVERYTHING they tried to do later #with Barbie and her creator #they could have just kept it to that #“Closer to Fine” is a great song though credit where credit is due

#upon rewatch i find that the stuff on the island is perfectly fine. standard early season 3 plot stuff #the jack thailand flashbacks are useless #and besides useless... they're not engaging at all #but it's over. the two biggest hurdles of lost are done #(the other being fire + water) #so it's all smooth sailing from here #and the closer we get to my beloved science team

#qsmp #thinking abt a pet sematary style au #where Wilbur is Louis and Tallulah is Gage (or I guess more like Ellie in the 2019 remake) #Philza is basically Jud with a mix of a few other characters and Chaynne is the book version of Ellie (requisite psychic child) #and the plot is Wilbur decides to move to Quesadilla Island with Tallulah to settle down + try to be closer to his estranged dad #when Phil is telling him abt the island he mentions the strange graveyard and a legend abt a demon named Cucurucho #and wil is just like ‘uh huh sure ok’ until Tallulah’s beloved pet turtle Augustín dies #wil reasons that he could pick up literally any turtle and nobody would know the difference #but he feels strangely drawn to see if the graveyard can really bring back the dead #and it works! sure the turtle smells kinda weird and keeps biting people but it’s fine! #and then wil learns why it’s a fucking terrible idea to leave a young child unsupervised on a three story high balcony actually #Phil warns him that sometimes dead is better but he just can’t handle it so it’s ~grave robbing time!~ #and the resurrection seems to work at first since Tallulah is living and breathing again #but she’s not the same sweet little petal that went into that grave… #*gripping you by the shoulders* do you see my vision #idk pet sematary is one of my favorite novels I gotta read it again

I feel like the characterization and plot progression #in this one is particularly clunky. and ig I worry more about reception bc this is for once going to be a Full Story orz #fate based vr world au #also honestly I fret about my oberon characterization a bit too much sometimes. #arjuna and jiang ziya are largely fine bc I've been p divergent from fate characterization for both of them (jiang ziya in particular) for #while lol. but oberon I want to at least feel like oberon bc unlike the other two he's a bit closer to a fate original I think? #(influences from midsummer's night dream and vortigern aside) #I will say though. writing this has made me think I should really write jiang ziya/arjuna more. they're very sweet in my head #and it'd be nice to write them out for other people to see

Watched the MLB movie finally! While I had a few Notes, all in all I enjoyed it, the animation was so pretty and I was really impressed how they condensed so much stuff into one movie

#like sure they changed stuff and moved stuff around #and things were left out (for a possible sequel?) #but as an adaptation it's pretty good i think #if they had tried to cram anything more into One Movie it would've ended up a jumbled mess #i think they made a good choice in doing the origin story and the hawkmoth plot as the main things #and have other adventures as a montage of the heroes growing closer as time goes on #and i feel like marinette was written better than in the show imo #sure it's been a while since i've watched the show so idk what's going on there right now but still #my only Notes tm for the moment are basically how adrien got the ring and how adrinette met #and that's about it #like we should 100% have been SHOWN Why adrien was chosen too and not just Have The Ring Show Up you know? #and i personally really liked the origin story of adrinette being marinette not caring about adrien's money or looks or status #and kind of being like :/// about him because she thinks he's a rich douche #but then finding out how KIND that boy is and THEN starting to fall for him #the movie version was Fine i guess but i would've liked to see the 'oh shit he's actually super nice i was wrong' #it was just so basic 'girl meets boy and falls in love' meet cute and while there isn't anything WRONG with that.. idk #it's just more boring than 'dude you kinda suck - except holy shit you don't? you're really nice?? oh no' #and it made marinette's crush seem different from how everyone fawns over adrien because of his status #otherwise though? can't really think of much to complain about #the songs were a Surprise for sure but i personally didn't mind them i love movie musicals #however there were a bit too many of them maybe? or idk #maybe the songs could've been tweaked a bit to stand out more imo but that's probably more a me thing than anything #hawkmoth's song slapped though lol #i was basically like ??????????? and :DDD at the same time (positive) #also i laughed so fucking hard at the end screen cut lmaooo #anyyyway i'm probably gonna reblog gifsets now bc man the animation was prettyyy #personal #miraculous ladybug #mlb movie

au where somehow due to shenanigans instead of being camped out on the other shore the adults are just like. In The Woods on the island. don't ask me how this works considering the whole point is they couldn't access the island and that's why they needed kids to help i don't know i just think it would be very funny if they kept accidentally becoming campus cryptids. some kid swears up and down he saw the headmaster in the woods with a woman dressed in all yellow hacking down a tree with an axe and no one believes him. martina runs into rhonda and she simply disappears back into the trees. when she tells kate about this, kate just blurts out what she was thinking (since she was worried something was actually wrong) and just goes "oh that's rhonda" and martina's llike Excuse Me? and kate's like "dont worry about it<3" then Refuses To Elaborate and it drives martina absolutely fucking insane. someone sees number two simply sitting in a tree. a kid gets cornered by the edge of the woods by some bullies and then just a mcfuckingenormous guy comes out of the trees and quietly, solemnly, is just like "calling people names. is rude." and they immediately flee. and then this kid's savior just nods solemnly and turns and walks back into the woods. they're convinced they met bigfoot. curtain's minding his own business taking a walk and sees mr benedict just like . in the woods. they do that iasip look across the room meme and then mr benedict just books it back into the woods and curtain's like am i going insane? what the fuck. jackson and jillson encounter except they scare the adults more than the adults scared them. the kids sneak out every night to go into the woods and talk to their weird adult friends
