Here's my tiny little analysis of a few scenes 😍

This is right after Neil gets pulled out of the dorm room to talk to his father. Charlie looks at Meeks with this face, they definitely know what's going on.

This is right after that scene. You can see Neil is about to cry, even sob. But Meeks says 'Latin, 8 o'clock my room? ' distracting Neil from crying and his father.

This is as Hager comes to get Knox before the go to the Danberries house. Knox is shown looking at the pictures that Keating talked about in the prior lesson.

Random ones I don't have pictures for:

Todd is having a panic attack in the shower scene. He's zoned out and breathing heavily.

In the like, community room, Todd is the in the corner trying to write but his hands shaking.

The camera turns to Neil when Keating says: 'we'll all turn cold & die. '

Charlie pats Neil on the back as they stand on Keatings desk, just thought it was sweet.

Stick is handing out the balls in the PE scene, maybe because he has selective mutism, and Keating knows.

When reading at the cave, Neil says a story about a woman doing a puzzle with a madman. Two scenes later in Todd's improv poem, he calls Whitman a madman, showing he really listened to Neil.

Neil falls while trying to carry Keating.

When Charlie plays his saxophone, Cameron says a very funny line: 'Has anyone got any earplugs? '

Todd is the first one to clap after Charlie's performance.

The party scene shows how much Welton was left out of teenage years. Knox dressed up completely, gets wasted and thinks it's acceptable to kiss an unconscious girl.

Neil gets nervous when talking to his father, as he stutters and looses his words.

It bothers me that the dps fandom doesn’t have many fanfics we can use as a bible :/

#there actually are!! #as an addict to fanfictons there are a l o t of great ones out there #sadly not many more than 100k words if that was what you meant #but there are:) this fandom has like the highest quality fics that ive read so far #plus the poetry thats always a bonus #its very noticable that its a fandom full of writers:) #dead poets society

Another thing I like about the dead poet society is that it’s not afraid to slow things down. Like a lot of stuff now seems like just rushing to hit plot points and if it’s not plot they don’t care but this movie is not afraid to spend film time just showing boys walking up the stairs or a boy we don’t know playing bag pipes or even Knox ridding his bike was something that took up time. I think it helps build an atmosphere, if that makes sense. Technically the movie went pretty fast because we went from fall to winter and only saw a couple moments of that. But it doesn’t feel rushed or to fast. I like that it takes its time. Basically I just really like the pacing of the film.

do you ever feel trapped? never related to neil so much until now.

cutesy dps headcanons because why not

neil used to pretend that he didn't know how to tie his tie to get todd to do it for him. he found it odd but did it without complaint

when neil finally does start to tie his own ties, todd turns into a proud mother and smiles like silly

charlie has specialized nicknames for all of the poets + gets offended when anyone else uses them (think dean with other people calling sam 'sammy')

cameron is the jacket king. he has 50 million tucked away in his closet. always brings extras on cold nights for the other poets

meeks' favorite class is choir, my man loves to sing!! he often gets caught by the others humming or singing to himself

pitts is the kind of guy to get offended when someone 'ruins' a book, whether that be annotating or dog earing the corner of their pages. he carries bookmarks for this very reason

meeks is the complete opposite. he has no problem with annotating his book/dog earing the pages

they fight over that all the time

todd can play guitar at a pretty decent level

he plays and meeks sings :]

mr. keating makes his students hot chocolate on cold days/rough days (like the day before a test or during finals week)

knox is extremely ticklish

cameron and todd snort when they laugh

cameron doesn't care while todd is absolutely mortified by it

neil is unfortunately tone deaf. doesn't stop him from loving music tho

pitts and charlie are the kings of dad jokes. they can go back and forth for hours, to the annoyance of the poets.

anderperry: if they went on a picnic

- todd makes tea sandwiches

- neil reads dramatic love sonnets by shakespeare to todd while eating (i can just imagine him trying to be romantic while his mouth is stuffed with food)

- they like playing around will kinda wrestle with each other (gently which usually ends up in kissing)

- todd plans out everything and gets candles to ~set the mood~ even if its not dark out

- neil likes to feed todd all the food he made as a way of showing his affection

- todd will bring iced teas for him and neil (he really likes making unique types of iced teas usually he likes to do chamomile tea for the two of them)

- neil is a sucker for anything sweet so he will pack fruits specifically strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, grapes, and cherries.

- the picnic blanket they would use is definitely a dark green plaid and NO ONE CAN TELL ME OTHERWISE

- neil will also bring secret poems he has written for todd and will read them to him in the most dramatic way possible. (since obviously our boy is an amazing actor and loves to be dramatic 💁‍♂️)
