plurality is a spectrum. no one's plurality is going to look exactly the same because by nature of plurality, we are all different. some plurals have headspaces, some don't, some have inconsistent headspaces. some plurals have easy communication, some have none, some have difficult communication. some have strong amnesia, some have none, some have weak amnesia. some have really diverse headmates, some have really similar headmates, some have a lot of headmates, some have few headmates. some are disordered, some are not, some lie in an inbetween. some are adaptive, some are spontaneous, some are created. and some of these things can vary from day to day or as systems change over time. plurality is a spectrum, not just a black and white experience

friendly reminder that fakeclaiming isn’t cool because you literally never know what’s going on in someone else’s brain. just because you can’t relate to another system’s experience doesn’t mean they’re automatically faking.
to those that have been fakeclaimed before: i’m sorry, and i hope you know that i see your system for what it is, and i support you <3

for us, it’s been really valuable to remember that we all are pieces of a whole.
we have pretty similar interests? we sound the same when we talk? we have opinions that largely overlap? that makes sense, we’re part of a whole. we share a body and a brain, of course we’re going to be similar in a lot of ways.
being similar to your headmates doesn’t mean you’re faking - don’t stress out about it!

Study on Alter Relationships within DID/OSDD/UDD Systems
Hello! I’ve recently been interested in what way the relationships between alters in my system present, and so have decided to run a study to see how things are for other systems. I also wanted to research possible factors behind why relationships between alters differ between systems, so I thought this study could provide some interesting information on the DID/OSDD community generally.
All responses are 100% confidential, and there’s a longer informed consent statement which you’ll see before you start the study. It should take no longer than 5-10 minutes.
People who are eligible to take part in the study:
- DID/OSDD/UDD and other traumagenic systems. (You do notneed to be diagnosed, self diagnosed systems may take part.)
- Systems who apply to the above but do not have romantic or familial relationships in their system (Your response is still valuable!)
People who are NOT eligible to take part in the study:
- Endogenic systems or other system types who do not consider themselves to have DID/OSDD/UDD. (This is a study on how these relationships manifest in DID/OSDD/UDD specifically.)
- Anyone else who does not have DID/OSDD/UDD.
- Systems who do not have any knowledge on the relationships between their alters. (You may not be able to answer the required questions.)
I would really appreciate as many responses as possible, so I can have a big enough data set to draw some theories, so find the link below:
Even if you’re not eligible for the study, I would greatly appreciate any reblogs so that as many people as possible can take part.
I don’t have any set time for the study to close yet, but am aiming for at least 150-200 responses before it does. Stay tuned for any updates on that.

one really frustrating system experience is knowing that you’ve switched but having no idea who’s fronting now.
is it a member we know of, and they’re just acting a little weird?
is it a brand new member?
is it a member that’s been around for a while but we just didn’t know about them?
is it several members co-fronting and blending together?
it’s difficult not being able to pinpoint who’s who, and it’s a problem that’s very uniquely plural.

I don't generally do blackout poetry, but this one really worked way too well! 😁
Tumblr media
Being a system is paradise. Imagine something You're with the person you love the most. And you've always got people. No matter where you go. With the person you'd do anything for. That's what being a system is like. It's paradise We use xenogenders damnit

Some reminders for systems out there:
- you do not have to fit stereotypes, even if they are formed by the community
- small systems are still systems
- large systems are valid and real
- switching a lot is valid
- switching only a little is valid
- not noticing when switches occur is normal
- being a headmate who is almost always in front or co-con is normal
- being a headmate that almost never fronts is normal
- having many fictives/factives is normal
- having few to no fictives/factives is normal
- having communication issues is normal
- having amazing communication from the start is normal
- hearing voices is normal
- hearing them only with focus or not at all is normal
- understanding headmates through different means, such as feeling what they feel, or having them write things to you is valid
- not fitting coined system roles is normal
- enjoying and fitting coined roles is normal
- almost fitting a term and using it to describe your role is valid
- having no name for your system is valid
- having multiple names for your system is valid
- having stretches of silence from your headmates is normal
- having moments of extreme activity from your headmates is normal
- being frontstuck happens! just do your best, you’re awesome.
- what you see online is not every experience a system has, and they are likely just as varied from other systems as you are, just in different ways <3
being a system is varied and complex for every single system, nobody and no system has to fit into a box to be real, don’t fakeclaim yourself based off of other systems experiences.

Hi :) I would like to follow you but first I have to ask, by pro para do you mean pro them seeking help so they cannot abuse? I'm pro the person not the illness. Or do you mean people that think it's okay to indulge in nasty para stuff?
the last one - pro-para is in our dni to weed out people who think it’s ok to engage in that sort of stuff. we added it recently when a pro-para account that encouraged some really nasty stuff followed us 😬
thank you for asking!

systems, you don’t have to stress over labels or if something is “normal” or why something happened or anything else. i know it’s really easy to get obsessive over it, but please, give yourself some grace and accept that you will never have everything figured out. knowing all these answers won’t make you any more plural, just as not knowing them doesn’t make you any less plural.
taking some time away from the plural side of tumblr, discord, etc can be really beneficial if you’re experiencing something like this. take a step back and let yourself exist.

it’s normal for internal communication to vary depending on the day.
some days, you may hear your headmates all day and be able to talk to them easily.
other days, you may not be able to hear anyone at all, and not get any responses when you reach out.
that’s normal, especially in systems with dissociative barriers. if you haven’t heard anything recently, don’t stress about it and try again tomorrow.

Why is there still debate going on over whether endogenic systems exist? Like in 2024 people still try to claim that cdd's are the only possible way to be plural and that is just silly. That's not how knowledge works. Things exist outside of our current perception of the world. DID existed before people knew about DID, we were still systems and the reason we are recognized as systems now is because we self identified as such until people accepted it. Nobody on the outside can tell whether someone is a system. There are certain things which can point towards it, but nothing can be observed by someone else to prove it concretely. There is no reason to assume that plurality can only happen as a trauma response, that is anti science. If people are self identifying as systems who don't fit into our current theories, then it sounds like our current theories are wrong. We don't decide how the world works and then try to hide evidence that it doesn't work the way we decided it does. We seek out evidence which conflicts with our ideas and then develop new, better ones which incorporate the new evidence.
