Just a giant rant about Alastor since I hyperfixated😡
(MASSIVE SPOILER WARNING)
Okay, so we all know he’s made a deal- most likely with Lilith- but it’s safe to say it wasn’t any kind of agreement and more like a cede against Alastor’s will, considering how angry he gets when it is mentioned by Husk. It’s also likely that Lilith isn’t doing it for any good reason, because she is found in heaven being told by Lute that if she wants to stay, she must stop Charlie. They both disappeared 7 years prior to the pilot, however Alastor reappears with his top priority of making a deal with Charlie, which she declines. I’ve heard people theorize about Lilith being the reason Alastor is so powerful, but I doubt that. She couldn’t have given him his powers because the deal they made probably took place 7 years ago. Not to mention but several quotes in the show reference that Alastor’s powers are more limited now that Lilith owns him. For example, “… he hasn’t done any of that in a while.” -Mimzy and “…when I figure out how to unclip my wings, then I’ll be the one pulling all of the strings.” -Alastor. These two quotes make it clear Alastor is much weaker than he used to be. That and when he first manifested he was an absolute menace to everyone. Lilith is probably constricting his powers to make sure he can’t resist or break their contract or be able to step out of line undetected. Perhaps if his powers were not so limited because of his deal, he would’ve been able to withstand Adam, especially considering he got quite close, throwing Adam into the hotel and creating a giant shield that killed multiple angels upon manifestation, and also was able to wield, aim, and effectively use their weapons (which probably also tired him out). Either way, it’s safe to say Alastor plans to break free and strike back, using the fact that Charlie now owes him a favor, he’ll probably use it to break free (or at least make progress). I believe that power restrictions on a demon as powerful as him could be pretty draining, however, and knowing how clever he can be- if it is draining Lilith in any way- he will probably use that against her.
It’s still pretty sad though, considering how much development he had that got erased after being injured by angelic steel (it’s actually pretty impressive he survived). All I can really do is hope that in season 2 he will get some more, which I feel like is a safe bet, and I can’t wait for the extra angst 👹
