its just really frustrating to me how people try to make art of cassandra today. because none of it at all says cassandra. it’s like, pretty girl crying, with perfect clothes and skin and hair. blah blah. that’s not cassandra!

cassandra is a loud and unsettling character! she comes into most of her appearances screaming, she tears at her hair and her clothes like any tragic homeric character, she’s unkempt and bold and messy and NOT clean.

and its just. ugh. like sure. thats a nice helen drawing. thats a nice penelope drawing. but literally nothing about this is cassandra. in fact, it goes directly AGAINST the big points of her character

Hi! Just wanted to mention that I've came across a video The Problem with Greek Myth Retellings by Kate Alexandra on YouTube and it reminded me a lot of your post about the recent trend of girlbossifying ancient heroines in newly published books.

I'm about half-way through but have really been enjoying it so far - the person seems to know what they're talking about. If you have time to spare, I'd certainly recommend it!
