it was almost 9 p.m. and you were exhausted. studying for your finals absolutely drained you, almost spending every night at the library this week to study for all your exams.

tomorrow you had one hefty exam, a whole section of multiple choice and of course—an essay portion. it doesn’t sound difficult, but the class was awful. you don’t like to put the blame on anyone, but your professor for this class kind of deserved it.

groaning, you stare at your laptop screen, trying to read the tiny text of the online textbook straining your eyes out in the process.

that is until, you hear the chair beside you being pulled out from underneath the desk.

“___, let’s go home.” jaehyun says softly, tugging the sleeve of your sweatshirt. your boyfriend begins to clean your mess of pens and pencils scattered on the desk, but you speak up.

“i can’t jae, my final’s tomorrow and i seriously can’t afford to fail it.” you sit up, hand on his to stop him from organizing your things.

jaehyun’s looking at you with concern, “you’ve been studying for hours, ___. you need to rest.”

he was right and none of this information would be sticking to your head at this point. you sigh, meeting his eyes briefly before shutting your laptop and shoving your things into your bag.

once you finish, jaehyun’s up from his seat, giving you his hand to take.

“c’mon, let’s get you home.”

“___! get your butt over here, it’s your favorite part!” jungwoo’s patting your side of the couch, while you’re scrambling to pour freshly popped popcorn (that’s also extremely hot) into the bowl.

“jungwoo, pause it!” you screech, trying not to burn your fingers with the hot bag. he doesn’t, still patting the couch with his eyes glued on the screen.

you roll your eyes at the sight, finally finished with preparing your snacks.

you and jungwoo never missed movie night. both of you loved watching your favorite films together, snacking on popcorn, and giggling together. the series you both loved and almost always watched was harry potter—and tonight, was all about the philosopher’s stone.

one of your favorite scenes was when the trio and the rest of the students get sorted into their house.

“i swear, this movie will always feel magical to me.” you say, taking a seat beside your best friend while handing him the bowl. “careful! it’s hot.”

“thanks,” jungwoo grins, watching your eyes and expression change into one that he loves.

your eyes are sparkling in excitement and your lips form a soft smile, as it’s harry’s turn to get sorted into his house.

jungwoo loved spending time with you; whether it’d be on movie nights, people watching at the park, or studying both your brains out at the library.

most importantly, he loved seeing you smile. he was enamored with the way your eyes would sparkle and shimmer when you were excited, or just happy.

he returned your soft smile, laying back on the couch.

“yeah, pretty magical indeed.”

“___, hurry up and pick so we can start studying,” mark groans, waiting for you to decide on a playlist so you could finally work on your project.

you’d been scrolling through his playlists, totally indecisive on which to listen to during your study session. you and mark loved sharing earphones and music while studying at your university’s library.

“it’s not my fault that you’ve got a basically a hundred playlists.” you snort, passing a playlist titled her.

you could tell it was one he made recently, seeing as it was one you only noticed now.

mark rolls his eyes, turning back to his laptop instead.

tapping it open, your heart stopped. it was a playlist full of your favorite songs—some of which were ones you only shared with him.

“mark,” you start, bringing his attention back to you. his face held a confused look until you showed him his phone with your playlist clearly on the screen.

his cheeks now held a rosy blush to them and he couldn’t look you in the eyes.

“i honestly didn’t think i’d be confessing now,” he sighs shortly before rubbing the back of his neck, “but i like you, ___.”
