Some analyses from my friends that made me giggle and kick my feet

(After hearing some people had interpreted his expression as being scared Cain, and how I thought I'd have to change it)

I heard this song the other day and it really got me, I've been listening to it on repeat thinking about Gold and Cain. Usually when I talk about them I focus on the mutual toxicity, but there's something so tragic about them too.

Gold desperately wants connection but is very distrusting due to betrayal from several important figures in his life, so cannot bring himself to be vulnerable unless he's under the influence. Not to mention he has a lot of baggage surrounding his masculinity, feeling like vulnerability and tenderness is emasculating. Cain meanwhile has never been able to connect to anyone due to how often his family moved, so he views the people in his life as replaceable and temporary. He regular cheated on his wife with catgirl escorts, and now Gold, who's just another slipshape to him.

Going back to the song that inspired this, I really liked the juxtaposition between "I like the way you kiss me" and "I'll hit it from the back just so you don't get attached". The singer admitting something intimate, but then saying he won't face his partner so they don't get attached, and describing the act in a much less personal way. It's very Gold.
