You Made Me a Thief of you Heart . . . .
This song was performed on the OST for "In the Name of the Father" a film about Irish Rebels who were wrongfully arrested, accused and charged for crimes against the English state - when in fact it was the English who had been destroying Ireland and attacking the Irish.

Goodbye to a legend
How surreal is it to look back on posts from earlier this year - when I told you all that I had been really leaning back into the music of Sinead O'Connor after a few years without listening. . .
I was not here on Tumblr to express the severe sense of grief and loss that hit me last week (as it hit us all). A Feeling so shocked, and empty, as we learned that Sinead's life and voice was no longer in this world.
How do we (how do I) honor this artist . . .
First, I will share below, what I shared online - moments after my phone began to blow up, when I learned that she died. . . .
And to celebrate the essence of this artist - I will be periodically sharing songs & performances that I have loved throughout the years by #SineadOConnor
Tumblr media
My initial post about Sinead's passing.
Tumblr media
Today, after reflecting - I posted the following on facebook. Because it is true . . .
So - again - you'll see more soon here to Honor this amazing woman.

In The Room With Reitzas #7- The Corrs Live in Studio 1994 / 1995
Part of what I love most about music, artists and bands (as a listener) is to watch the behind the scenes process that goes into a studio recording. This video is of The Corrs, to which if you know me, you know I love this Band.
The Corrs are a quartet from Dundalk Ireland. This video shows the band performing an unnames traditional track for their debut album “Forgiven Not Forgotten”.
I’m sharing this because - yes I am fanning out here. The song that you’re hearing on this video, never made it on the record ! so this is new to me. But beyond that, it is also a great video of the band in the studio with famed producer David Foster.

As mentioned, I’ve been back on the Sinead O’Connor train quite a bit in this early first quarter of 2023. Something about her catalogue of music has been calling me back to her. I will say, that her documentary on @showtimenetworks kind of kicked this back off for me.
Growing up in an Irish American (I am second generation) family. Anytime that the Irish would make it in America, it was as holy as if a member of the holy family arrived to US soil (Irish Catholic).
So with Sinead, I remember my aunt Eileen being the first to really bring this music to us. And I have so many memories of these records playing while we would go on family summer vacations in Santa Cruz etc.

The song that I have chosen here to share with you each today, is a song of souk redemption. “Church” is within and “Church” is not associated with any God, Priest or Saint within this song. “take me to church” is a song about the human will to carry forward and seek personal redemption for our own wrong doings to self, and others.
Without further ado… this is Take me to Church by Sinead O’Connor from her studio album “I am Not Bossy, I am the Boss”

Timeline Update
Hello one in all, or all my one people following. I've been away. I have not been posting because my mental health state of being has taken a shit. And the shit hit the fan. But I am getting better. I will be trying to remember this blog, because music is still the best thing in the world to me, and there have been so many great new artists out and about that need to be shared. In all honesty, after my dad died in 2021, and I found myself searching for new meaning and purpose . . . I lost myself . . . " For a minute there, I lost my self" . . . and I am not found again. I would be totally full of shit if I made it seem like I am a success story on mental health. If anything, I have almost felt like I sank deeper into my own void. But I also over analyze everything . . . so I really do not know. I just dont know. I do know, I am gonn abe OK. HOW I will be OK? ; I do not know. :)

Trio Mandili - Sikhvarulis shairi (Love poem)
Now this one is -- these three are -- I just dicovered this music TONIGHT.
This is the thing about culture, tradition, and music for me. I have NO idea what they are singing and it conveys. Music is more than just what hits the radio. Music is more than a bloodline. It is a SPIRIT line to where we chose to be born to.

This is a #BuffySainteMarie love post. I “discovered” Buffy in 2005 when I was browsing through the Berkeley Public Library’s CD section. At the time, I was just discovering that “folk music” was not “Country” music (because the country music I was exposed to on radio in the 90′s was something that I was NOT at all into).
In 2005, I had just learned about #BrandiCarlile and I was quickly becoming obsessed with the acoustic guitar & songwriting spirit of music. Now known as “Americana” the genre is like the “alternative” to country music.
Buffy - was Americana before Americana was Americana. Her poetry in song told the story of the indigenous and the true bloodline to this nation. A Canadian woman who found a new home in the USA upon coming here to study in university.
Buffy technically DISCOVERED #JoniMitchell when she had heard Joni play in coffeehouses and borrowed the song The Circle Game” which proved to be a songwriters “hit” amongst radio.
I am not  an editorial writer so I will not go on any further with the history of Buffy. But I encourage you to check her out, because this is how songwriting is composed. From the heart - and Buffy is someone who is a storyteller and a political influence.

Oh, promises, promises This is where those promises, promises end I don't pretend that what was wrong can be right. Every night I sleep now, no more lies Things that I promised myself fell apart But I found my heart
