Malek Bennabi is an Algerian pre and post-colonial thinker and writer known for his concept of « colonisability ». This concept revolves around the idea that a society structurally weak along with a loss of social values, is prone to being colonised by a foreign power.
He managed to combine his Arabic heritage with European ideas to produce a unique and original vision among the literary post-colonial production.

Had half impaired the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
Or softly lightens o'er her face;
Where thoughts serenely sweet express
How pure, how dear their dwelling place.
