top five PLOT TWISTS
omg... I love this question so much, but you can't do this to me aksjdhffjd. how am I supposed to answer this without spoilers if I want to talk about why these plot points are plot twists? but let's see if I can do that.
5. the endings of Saw, Saw II and Saw IV. all Saw endings go hard, but I have a special fondness for these three. the apprentice reveal at the end of IV marked the beginning of a beautiful brainrot for me, the ending of II is an absolute SLAY, and the ending of the first Saw made my soul leave my body even though I'd been spoiled on that twist years before I ever watched the movie. (V is my all-time Saw ending, but as a plot twist it's pretty predictable compared to the others)
4. the blood test scene in The Thing. let me tell ya, when that blood jumped, so did I.
3. the ending of Ghostwatch. "It's a seance!" it's an absolutely gutwrenching and terrifying twist, thank you for scaring the shit out of the entire nation, dear BBC.
2. the ending of The Black Cat by Edgar Allan Poe. it was the first story of his that I'd read, and I did not expect that reveal. it's such a perfectly horrifying and nasty little story from beginning to end, and that ending is what makes it hit so hard imo.
1. the entirety of And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie. I know it's cheating to list a whole novel as a plot twist, but it's so masterfully plotted and paced that I'd be very hard-pressed to pick a single moment that stands out. if I do have to choose a favorite twist from that one, I'd go with the moment when Vera and Lombard realize what the red herring line in the mysterious rhyme really meant. and of course the ending is just shiver-inducing, I absolutely tf did not see it coming.

if I had a nickel for every time I had heart eyes for a middle-aged dark-haired law enforcement guy in a horror movie who is told to stay away from a murder case but gets involved anyway, rushes into a murder site with no backup trying to save people and ends up almost getting killed himself, and wears a black leather jacket, I'd have two nickels. which isn't much, but it's weird that it happened twice

top 5 saw traps? :0
oh I'm so sorry for the word vomit you're about to witness
5. water cube
to put it in my own words from me trying frantically to explain Saw V and the sudden-onset brainrot to a friend who's still sane: "I did not expect to fall in love seeing a character give himself a tracheotomy, but that's just life in the Saw fandom." I love Strahm's quick thinking and the absolute stress of that scene (even if it is pretty funny that he ended up there because he ignored the instructions he was given) and it's such a simple but effective concept for a trap. which I found refreshing in a franchise that routinely goes way over the top with trap ideas
4. angel trap
Amanda's loss of faith communicated through a trap with religious symbolism? don't mind if I do! also I love Kerry and as much as I wish we'd gotten more scenes with her, it's such an amazing trap for her both on a character level and aesthetically
3. pendulum trap
John can stfu about the pendulum being inferior work lmao. Hoffman putting that together completely on his own with no professional background in engineering and faking a Jigsaw murder so well that he almost got away with it is sexy impressive as hell. also Edgar Allan Poe reference. love to see that <3
2. glass coffin
*stares at the wall in 100k+ words of fanfiction*
reverse bear trap
the star of the show! absolutely nothing will beat the aesthetic, the concept and this entire scene in my mind, it's just amazing visual storytelling and it slaps so hard. and the fact that Shawnee was sick while filming it and still delivered that performance is one of the biggest 'mad respect' Saw bts trivia facts for me

hiiiiii im back to talk abt your black nail cabaret recs! i loved let me in, gogo, hangman, and bete noir the most!!! <3 but i liked them all still, ur right they're consistently very good, really. hard to go wrong w them. i listened to emerald city afterwards! bete noir made me laugh a bit the first time the chorus hit bc the aggression surprised me so much, but i like it 😭
i've also realized how much i love their lyrics. which says nothing abt me btw......... anyway thank you much again for the recs and for getting me more into them mwmwa
what's your fave album of theirs btw?
hi!! I'm so glad you had a good time listening to Black Nail Cabaret, thank you for sharing your thoughts <3 Bete Noire definitely has some surprising lyrics, but I really enjoy how dark the melody is. Hangman was the first song of theirs I'd heard, back in high school, and it was love at first listen. so I'm very happy that you enjoyed the vibe of that song too! and yes, their lyrics are always great.
to be honest, I rarely listen to full albums unless I Really really like someone's music (NIN, Depeche Mode and Recoil are the only artists whose albums I can always listen to in one go over and over), so I don't actually have a favorite Black Nail Cabaret album, but I like a song or two from all their major releases! Emerald City has the most of my favorites, though, so voting that as the album whose vibes really align with me.
either way, I was so glad to see this ask in my inbox, I love sharing music recs and I love it when I find something for friends and mutuals that they end up enjoying. if you have any music recs or thoughts, always feel free to come tell me about them <3

coffee v energy drinks. who wins?
oh, I'm a coffee dude through and through. I'm pretty sure my usual morning cup of joe would kill a normal person (four teaspoons of instant coffee in half a cup of water, stir well, drink most of it in two gulps before it's fully dissolved, drink the rest an hour later when it's dissolved), but I need it to function. hell, sometimes I mix up my instant coffee with regular brewed coffee instead of water if I really need a boost. that being said, I get shaky and sick to my stomach from energy drinks in a way I only do if I have more than one coffee in one day, so let's call it a draw on this one

I made a very funny and/or sad observation about my Youtube edits a few days ago. one of my first videos on that site was an edit themed around Japanese exploitation/sleaze cinema, and I included some light gore and some mildly sexual things (women taking some of their clothes off but zero actual nudity, a makeout session, a shot of half a buttcheek mostly hidden in a shadow, and a clothed pole dancer). I wasn't sure if I should manually age-restrict it, but Youtube did it anyway barely a few minutes after uploading. well, my latest upload is my Machina edit themed around body horror, and it also has somewhat graphic violence in it (a man getting sliced into pieces, some arms being ripped off in Akira and Ghost in the Shell, and that scene from Robocop where the military robot kills someone). it's still up, fully public and unrestricted. apparently a guy getting turned into a sieve by a machine gun is a-okay, but God forbid someone see a butt on Youtube
