Being jurgen leitner the day that gerry almost killed him was probably really surreal. Imagine you’re minding your business, collecting fucked up books, and out of nowhere this goth guy covered in eye tattoos shows up and beats you half to death, then stops, goes, “no you’re too pathetic to be jurgen leitner” and leaves without further elaboration. And you dont correct him, you like being alive after all, and after that you just… continue with your life. And then several years later you tell this to some random guy in the tunnels you’ve been hiding in, and he not only knows who the goth was, but seems somewhat fond of the goth. And then you get brutal pipe murdered by the random guy’s boss. Oops

I’m gonna go ahead and choose to believe that while the Ballad of Bigfoot is 90% noncanonical there was an incident in the late 90s where Barclay stole some poor asshole goth kid’s car and no one at Amnesty Lodge ever let him live it down. The version we hear in the liveshow is more or less the version that is recounted to Duck and Aubrey twenty years later by several increasingly tipsy lodge residents, most of whom were not even on Earth yet when the incident happened, while Barclay is blatantly within earshot.

Kipperlily being jealous of Riz from the jump because she wants to be a classic fantasy hero rising up from messed up circumstances is actually so fucked. If you will go back to Freshman year in your mind: Sklonda eating her cereal with water so Riz can have milk, Riz saying he can watch the palimpsest because no one is going to notice he’s gone, going from thinking his father was in a run of the mill accident to was probably murdered, finding out you’ve been unknowingly chasing after your father’s murderer the whole time… Kipperily is jealous that Riz has had a hard life. She’s jealous that he has suffered and believes that gives him an unfair advantage. That seems to be the root the rage god cultists or Jace or whatever used. Her jealousy and feelings that she’s owed tragedy instead of her picture perfect life, that it’s unfair her classmate has suffered not because he’s also a child but because it wasn’t her.
