It’s quiet fucked up... « Yesterday, 25 male republicans voted to ban abortions in Alabama – 25 out of 27 republicans, on a 35 seat senate – a ban that directly flies in the face of Roe v. Wade. Their decision has criminalized abortions at all stages of pregnancy, both for the pregnant person and for the doctors, who would face up to 99 years in prison. The ban contains exceptions for cases where the pregnant person's life is at risk, but not in cases of rape or incest – including cases where the pregnant person is under the legal age of consent. I do not, nor have I ever lived in Alabama (or Georgia, where a 6 week ban "heartbeat bill" was just passed). But this is personal, and it should be to any human-being with a uterus. My own opinion about my body is just more salient than the opinions of these 25 white male republicans (who probably couldn't identify the cervix on a diagram of the female reproductive system if asked). Motherhood isn't fiscally possible for many. Motherhood isn't physically safe for all. And you know what? Motherhood is not mandatory! That responsibility is a choice, it is not a requirement, and it is CERTAINLY not a decision that 25 out-of-touch conservative white men get to make! I'm probably shouting into an echo chamber, given the community I'm in, but just in case: if you agree with, or support the Alabama abortion ban, or Georgia's 6 week bill, DON'T unfollow me. Tell me to my face why you think you your opinions about my body are more valuable than my own.
