this is APPARENTLY a HOT FUCKING TAKE but
i would rather someone live out the rest of their life dependent on or addicted to a pain medication that helps with their pain, than suffer in pain that could be helped for the rest of their life just so self-righteous dicks can say "thank god they're not an addict"

Before Israel killed him, Palestinian scholar Refaat Al Areer wrote to his daughter:
If I must die
you must live
to tell my story
Yesterday Israel killed his daughter Al-Shaymaa along with her husband and baby.
Who is going to tell Refaat and Shayma's story? Who's going to continue to tell the world how Israel obliterated entire bloodlines?
Refaat's poem continues to say
If I must die
let it bring hope
let it be a tale
We must promise to keep the tale alive and to uphold the legacy of Refaat, Shayma and the 40,000 others who were murdered by Israel in its ongoing genocide.
Try as they might, but Palestine will never die.

LESS THAN TWO HOURS AGO: four cornell students have been suspended (and at least the one reporting was evicted, unknown about the others) for their involvement with their campus's gaza solidarity encampment. during a school year centering freedom of expression no less!

Jacob and Sam really are artistic soulmates and hope one day they will collaborate in music sometime too. Even just a special recording of Bloodsport with both of them singing. I would love that so much.
Also, can we get Louis singing on IWtV at some point too? Please?

At some point in your life, you were taught that being slightly annoying is an unforgivable sin. Maybe it was by your parents or a teacher or a friend or a bully or an older sibling. But someone taught you that being slightly annoying is a crime punishable by death.
You must unlearn this.
You must accept that all people will be annoying at some point or another in their lives, maybe all of their lives, and that this is okay. It is okay for strangers on the bus, it is okay for children in the grocery store, it is okay for people on social media, and it is okay for you.
If you ever want to truly love your fellow humans, if you ever want to truly love yourself, you must have forgiveness for being annoying.

Fascinating.
One thing that really gets me about the opening with angel Crowley is that he's not just excited by how beautiful his stars are, or how fun the process of creation is, or how impressed he's made Aziraphale. He’s not in it for the glory or the aesthetics. He’s actually horrified by the idea that the universe will just be "fancy wallpaper" in the future, even though Aziraphale assures him that humans will "marvel" at his creations.
What Crowley loves about his stars is their potential. He is building, essentially, a nursery. Most of the universe's stars, he explains to Aziraphale, will come pre-aged--but his are just starting out! After they're given time to grow, who knows what could happen! Good or bad, black holes or new constellations—there are so many possible futures ahead of them, and Crowley can’t wait to see what happens.
And then Aziraphale tells him that he knows what will happen: those stars will never grow up. They will never shine or burn out or implode or become anything new. They’ll be destroyed before they get the chance.
"You can't kill kids."
“Whose side are you on?” “God’s, of course!” “Same God that wants me to whack the kids?”
"People die." "They do, don't they?"
“Great pustulant mangled bollocks to the Great blasted Plan!”
"Don't test them to destruction."
"It's always too late."
"Nothing lasts forever." "No, I don't suppose it does."
This fear has been chasing Crowley since before the beginning. It’s what caused his first doubts, put the first traces of gray in his wings. He’s been raging at the futility of watching beautiful, complex things be damned or destroyed for his entire existence, and that’s why he seems to the audience and to Aziraphale to be a mess of contradictions.
He loves to follow the trends of the times, but he clings to his classic car in an era of planned obsolescence for vehicles. He lives in an ultra-modern flat, but finds his greatest comfort in the unchanging security of aziraphale’s old shop. He hates the idea of killing children, but is willing to see a child die if it preserves the rest of the universe and foils the Great Plan. He “goes too fast,” but his most unique and notable power is that he’s learned to stop time.
Crowley hates predestination. He hates divine intervention and the removal of agency. Crowley, the architect of free will, is constantly torn between his love of change and choice and potential and his terror that everything will be destroyed by an unstoppable, incomprehensible higher power. That’s his driving conflict in the way that Aziraphale’s is learning to find his own path without following Heaven’s rules, and I am fascinated to see how it resolves.

I always forget this wasn’t a thing everywhere but my high school had a fun and innovative way to torment us in PE. They got heart rate monitors. It was this awful strap that went under the bra line and paired to a watch. The first day was great cause we got to set our resting heart rate. We did this by laying in a dark room and napping.
But then once a week we’d have to strap on these monitors and go running. The monitors were old tech and didn’t always pick up your heartbeat, so you’d have to use cold water between it and your skin to get a better connection, gods know why. Warm water never worked. After the day our watches would be collected and our efforts recorded.
The idea was that if your heart beat too fast you were supposed to stop, and if it was too slow you’d speed up. In practice this was ridiculous, staying in the green zone all class was ridiculously difficult.
Even people like me who were stubbornly resistant to running the mile couldn’t stand the horrific constant beeping and made attempts to placate the reviled machine. It was always fairly miserable. I had PE first thing in the chilly morning, dashing cold water on my skin before running around half awake was the low point of my week.
But for some unknown reason, the teacher insisted that no play could happen on these days. We were given the freedom to run all over campus but woe betide us if we tried to make a game that actually made this enjoyable.
We’d initiate games of tag only to get yelled at for not just… running. Any kind of play was forbidden. On one memorable occasion someone got a kickball and we started an impromptu soccer game with it.
If someone’s heart rate got too high they’d drop to their knees to wait out the shrieking of their watch so an extra element was added to the game of trying to win without going too hard. I remember being absolutely delighted, the thrill of that game still lives in my heart, hoping I could score a goal before my heartbeat betrayed me to the hated watch.
When the PE teacher found us we were soundly scolded and the ball was confiscated. Our happiness burst like a soap bubble and we turned our back to the enchantment of the green field and resumed slogging along in a grey haze as expected.

I’m noticing that some people still struggle with nuance and basic empathy, so I’m throwing my two cents in. Yes, Kate and Anthony never set out to hurt Edwina. In fact, I’d argue that due to their combined eldest daughter syndrome, they both felt that it was better for them to be unhappy if it meant Edwina wouldn't be hurt.
Unfortunately, your intentions don’t always reflect the impact you have on other people. So yes, Kate warned her away from him and Anthony said he didn’t want love. Still, it is more than a little devastating to realize on your wedding day that your fiance has been wishing he could be with your sister almost every moment he was with you.
And because of who they both are, if the wedding had gone as planned I really don’t think they could've ever stomached having a full blown affair. But being in love with someone who isn’t your fiancé on your wedding day means your marriage is doomed before anyone says a single vow and it’s in emotional affair territory.
Neither Kate nor Anthony were malicious and Edwina was hurt by them. Multiple truths can coexist.

"Us Against All Of Them"
Tumblr media
Days can be torture, roads can be long
But when you closer, my world's still and calm
We could start a fire, burning down the walls
Walking on a wire, I would risk it all
All for you
I would
Lyrics from "Risk It All" by Jim Yosef

I've had this song playing over and over again while drawing. The lyrics fits the scene as well so I had to write it down below it.
I'm a fan of epic moments that will give me goosebumps so I had a lot of fun drawing this. Hope we'll see some in S3. Until then I have this picture (soon as a print on my wall).
The title of the artwork suggests where I get the idea from. But I can't exactly tell how my brain had made this up. Some weeks ago I was riding bus home, thinking about nothing and suddenly my brain presented me this picture - and I needed to draw it.
PS: I've made a slightly different second version of this picture. I'll post it within the next few days.
