Staying in the moment creates momentum!
The most costly activity in our day is being distracted! Staying in the moment takes practice. We get better at everything the more mindful or aware we become. Here are a few tips to help you to be mindful of staying in the moment: Pick a task. Be committed and watch how many times something distracts you during it. Use a pad beside you and make a mark when the mind wanders. Just noticing will have it begin to be managed. Make a game each time you commit to ONE thing! Keep score and watch your progress. We know we are not staying present or in the moments because we have signs. They could be stress, anxiety, worrying too much, feeling out of breath, having sudden fears arise, snapping at others that don’t deserve it, etc. Know your signs and when you do notice, you are being cognitive and are developing your mindfulness. Breathe! When you take in a few deep cleansing breaths - it brings you back to the present by pulling you back from jumping into the future and slows your mind and thoughts down. Mindfulness is the opposite of distraction - it’s the ability to maintain an easy sense of focus and attention, and it’s a way to keep your mind from flitting from thought to thought, just by the simple act of mindful breathing. Take a 10 minute break 2-3 times a day and watch your thoughts slow down, watch your emotions become calmer and more stable and watch yourself become more powerful! Here are two great meditation!
Remember put a Post-It note reminder where you can see it every day as a great way to stay in the moment. Make each moment fun! You are getting better at every challenge you focus on! Stay present and focussed.
