✶ Aries in 1st: Being ruled by the planet Mars, these natives give a bold and invigorating first impression. What you see is what you get with Aries in the first- they have a raw and honest personality- which can be off putting for some people because it can be taken as rude depending on the person/situation- but I have to say you must admire them for being so tenacious and authentic in nature. I can hands down say the best quality about Aries in the first is what you see is what you get! They have a strong ego here, are not ashamed of their behaviors, body or personality - regardless of what others say to or about them. ✶ Aries in 2nd: Bold spenders, can be quick to have, give away and lose money. Fleeting self worth and values- can feel and act confident one hour and then shy and shameful the next. Values honesty, integrity and sense of self- this may be because they don’t have the greatest sense of self. Believes that kids and the younger generations have the most value in the world. Having children of their own could be of the greatest importance- OR (and this is a big or) they could never want kids and value connecting to their inner child and independence greatly. It’s one or the other. Can feel at war with their finances and self worth.

✶ Aries in 3rd: Athletic and popular in middle school/high school. Known for their leadership skills and qualities amongst their peers, classmates, cousins and siblings. Can be the youngest of their siblings or babied by others. Intellectually motivated, driven and competitive. Impulsive and passionate in their speech. May say things for shock value or improv their actual knowledge. Finds stimulation in an intellectual debate and arguing. It’s hard to win an argument with these people because they speak so quickly- their arguing style is just backing people into a corner mentally, they don’t give up easily. Needs to be weary of being hypocritical of their coworkers. Temper at work. Benefits from a workout routine. Needs to take out stress and anger from work & daily responsibilities. Can be very active or have hyper pets, may need a big back yard to run their dogs or other animals in. Competitive in health and motivated to be the best version’s of themselves. Picky with their diet and what they decide to put in their bodies. Can have an all or nothing attitude- because theirs definitely a reason why they are so picky. ✶ Aries in 8th: This gives the native a hyper-vigilant quality to the native with Aries in 8th. In the past the native may have been made to feel like they didn’t belong, maybe they were bullied, or judged for something they couldn’t control. This may lead them to be on edge, secretive and even defensive about who they are authentically. shadow work isn't witchcraft. "shadow worker" isn't a real witchcraft title, because -- again -- shadow work isn't witchcraft, or folk craft, or related to the occult literally at all. it was co-opted into witchcraft recently. it's a facet of psychology/psycho-analysis invented by Carl Jung to help people going through trauma therapy. since it's not witchcraft, you don't have to do it, you shouldn't put up with being shamed for not doing it, and you should definitely be seeing a therapist -- who has experience with it -- when you attempt it, because it can dredge up some really nasty shit if you're not ready or equipped to handle the fall-out. AND you should start mentioning this and talking about this in every witchcraft/occult space. get people talking about it and researching its history.

I think this book plagiarized my writing.

Disclaimer: Please do not harrass anyone because of this post. Please do not review bomb this author's books. The last thing I want is to sabotage another author's career or kick off a cyberbullying campaign. I am making this post to present my evidence and get the truth out there so readers can make informed decisions about the books they invest in, NOT as any sort of personal attack on this author.

In case you don't follow my blog: Hi, I'm Sam. I'm a queer, neurodivergent witch and author who writes books about witchcraft, paganism, and identity politics. I also read a lot of books about those topics because I enjoy hearing what other people have to say about them.

Recently, I was reading the book Herbal Tea Magic for the Modern Witch by Elsie Wild and realized what I was reading felt familiar. Like, really, really familiar. Like, "hey, isn't this my work?" familiar.

Herbal Tea Magic for the Modern Witch was published in November, 2021. It contains a section titled "The Four Components of a Spell," which is very, very similar to a blog post I made in April of 2020, titled "How to Cast Spells That Work." I also posted a video version of that blog post to YouTube at the same time. You can read the original blog post in full here.

Below is a table I made where I laid out my text and the excerpt from Elsie Wild's book side by side. Words and phrases highlighted in orange are identical across both texts. Words and phrases highlighted in blue are the same idea, but phrased slightly differently.

As far as I am aware, this four-part model for spellcrafting is my original creation. Although I was inspired by books on magic and spellcraft (especially Wicca For Beginners by Thea Sabin), this simplified model is one I created to make spellwork more simple and accessible for beginners.

I think there's too many similarities between the two texts to be a coincidence. To me with my journalism degree, this looks like paraphrasing plagiarism, a type of plagiarism where an author repeats someone else's ideas but changes the exact language to hide the similarity.

Wild does incorporate some of her own ideas as well, and I'm definitely not claiming that her entire book is plagiarized, but I believe the main idea of this specific passage is plagiarized from my blog.

Paraphrasing plagiarism is still plagiarism. This author may not have literally copied and pasted my work, but I think she is very much trying to pass off my ideas as her own.

All that being said, I have no reason to believe Elsie Wild plagiarized me on purpose. In 2020 and 2021, a lot of my content from Tumblr was stolen and reposted on other platforms, especially Instagram. I personally have come across several accounts that took screenshots of my blog, cropped out my username, and then posted my content without credit. There are probably many others I never caught. It's possible Wild saw my words on one of these accounts and had no idea who the original author was.

I have reached out both to Elsie Wild and to her publishing company, Ulysses Press, but as of this post I have not heard back from either. I really wish I could talk to someone who worked on this book to get more information, but it has now been several weeks with no response, so I decided to go public because I feel like people deserve to know about this.

Again, I am not trying to cancel Elsie Wild or her publisher, but I'll admit I'm hurt by the possibility of someone else taking credit for my ideas. I genuinely do hope any plagiarism was unintentional because the alternative is a full-time writer with an established career knowingly plagiarizing from online creators with smaller platforms.

Something people don’t seem to realize is that even when a deity/spirit really cares about you, they may still manipulate you. Them giving a damn doesn’t stop them from having a personal agenda or from allowing you to make mistakes that are in their favor. How does it work

Hey! Yeah, eclipses can trigger big changes or events in our lives. You should take a look at where Libra falls in your chart (which house I mean) because that will kind of show you what type of change you can expect.

Let’s say that it falls on the 2nd house for example, it could bring changes related to your money or financial situation or, even to your values a change of perspective. Or if it falls on your 11th you might see changes on your friend group. And so on

With this eclipse though I expect that a lot of people will be dealing with relationship stuff (not just romantic). Figuring out what you expect from your relationships and whether you’re getting it or not. Finally realising that a relationship means that two people give and take and that you can’t make the other person give you what you need if they don’t want to.

Sometimes with eclipses some past cycles can be brought up. With this one I think that it will mainly be about 2021 or 2016, like what was going on in your life at the time

Also, even though the eclipse already happened we’re still in eclipse season until the next new moon in Aries when we’ll get the “other side” of the eclipse so to say

Odin isn't the first deity that came to me, even if he's my "main" deity. Loki actually sort of opened the door for him and then promptly went on his way. I was actually really surprised that despite Odin's energy being intense it never felt scary or too much for me, it was always very safe and comforting actually. If I had to describe it, it would be like a dark summer's night, watching the stars and feeling the breeze. You know that feeling of peace and infinite possibility? As if you could tap into the secrets of the universe. I also find that he tends to get very philosophical and will often tell me how things work (metaphysically). I do think that he loves to think about things, to look at things from a lot of different perspectives even if they're "wrong". He likes to deconstruct beliefs. One of the first things he told me was to develop discernment in every thing.

For me, one of the main things with him is that he loves is curiosity. I feel him popping up whenever I'm researching or when I'm immersed in a book. It's not strange for him to guide me into the books that I should read at the moment.

Speaking of guidance for me it's mostly gentle and always very hands-on, but somewhat distant at the same time. Odin will absolutely let me fall on my face and deal with the consequences of my own actions and mistakes, but compared to other deities he's very gentle in the way he goes about it.

Another thing that I found with Odin is that whenever I ask him for help with something he will always do his best to help. It may take longer than I'd like or work in completely unexpected ways but it always comes.

As an aside I always find it so funny how he and my mom (a devout catholic) formed a weird "friendship" where she'll warily give him the occasional offering and ask for help with something. I do think he can be very, very charming if he wants to. Also! One of the things he keeps telling me is that he will absolutely lie if it suits him. He's always working for a greater good.

I really, really like him so much, but I do think that his presence is not for everybody.

Alright y'all, who can tell me about Odin? I've brushed shoulders with the Old Man a few times, but otherwise have limited experience with him.
