Chapter 5 "Bai Lu"

I don't have much to say about this chapter. It feels like a setup to the next big part of the story.

I see a budding bromance between Airplane and Sqq (or cucumber)

I find it delightful to have it confirmed that Sqq was a total pidw fanboy. like he knows more than the author. that's commitment and I won't believe him anymore when he says he didn't like it. he must have liked parts of it.

that monster is definitely coming back.

Sqq somehow walked headfirst into the point and missed it in his last conversation with airplane. "What do you think of Luo Binghe?" "What? shut up, I'm not in love with him or anything. Don't talk to me again." babygirl please

Chapter 4 "Conference"

Shen Qingqiu is still in denial. But he nearly fell out of his chair at Luo Binghe arriving. THAT IS NOT A NORMAL REACTION.

Luo Binghe is SO JEALOUS. I AM LIVING FOR IT. Also malewife, the way he goes "Snacks? Water? Is your waist sore?"

Oh. Oh no. Are we getting plot now? We are. I kinda knew because of sqqs commentary, but I would have simply loved for them to dance around each other more.

Luo Binghe is such an upstanding guy so far, taking care of all the other disciples, sacrificing his progress.

Him offering to get the flower for Sqq should be a clear sign but sqq still refuses to accept he is the romantic interest now.

that scene of sqq plunging lbh into the abyss was heart wrenching. The tonal shift from funny to devastating happened so fast. and the illustrations did not make it any easier to read. lbh looks shocked to his very core. I want to give him a hug.

The aftermath is tough as well. If he realizes this or not the grief is so palpable. And heartbreak points? I made an actual anguished sound at that.

Chapter 3 "Favor Points"

Sqq is the most oblivious guy I know. He somehow manages to think about how down bad he is for lbh and one sentence later he denies any meaning of it.

"Oh lbh cooks for his maidens. He sways them with his skills. How lucky I am to taste it and to have him cook for me regularly. I am so very grateful. those things have nothing to do with each other" you keep telling yourself that, sweety

"Oh having sex with lbh would cure my poison but I could never. Or could I? Hahaha what a laughable thought. Unless? ... Nah" are you maybe a bit thinking about that?

"oh I have been thrust in the role of the damsel to take care of lbh and help him. There must be a bug. I am surely not the romantic interest. There is simply no way. well I got to march on and fulfill my role, my hands are tied, there is no other way." SURE YOU ARE

Lbh is also so down bad for sqq. he keeps talking about him! He is so happy when he gets to move in with him! He won't allow him to be hurt! Meng Mo is so annoyed by that!

I laughed a lot while reading this! I have a feeling the horrors will come soon enough but so far I am really enjoying this!

Chapter 2 "Mission"

we finally got rid of the OOC restriction and Sqq just straight up changes gear. I love that for him. saving that pretty boy that died offscreen in the novel was nice. he has a soft spot for lb, which is really sweet but also to be expected after reading a whole ass novel about him. I like how he slowly starts to see them as people not characters, and tries to save lb by jumping in front of that demon.

it's way funnier than I expected tbh. I love the self references and 4th wall breaks and sqq inner monologue about all the characters actions.

my fave scene in this was definitely the exchange with the skinner demon, playing this on "easy" mode.

I do find it kind of weird that we have mostly sqq pov and thoughts but sometimes get the thoughts and feelings of lb. I am always hesitant to believe that because the pov switch is so jarring

I don't know what will happen, but right now lb is so babygirl and so sweet. I can see why he was a beloved character

Chapter 1 "Scum" was a lot of switching between the glossary, the pronunciation guide and the actual chapter. Kinda getting a feel for these characters. Shen Qingqiu is star struck it seems :D
