(barely awakw waiting for my shift to start) i think im leaning too hard into the sad parts of revyl's backstory i need to remember that ultimately its just a Silly Guy. its playful its pleasure-seeking it wont do anything you cant convince it to do unless you can prove its Fun. it loves novelty and the whole reason it joined zaara's crew and later the whispers was primarily to see what races other than sylvari were like. i think it has a pretty skewed impression of what sylvari are like as a whole and only rlly fully trusts zaara and irene but that doesnt mean its outwardly like Hostile towards other sylvari...it has seen the Horrors but doesnt want/need anyone else to know about it and would much rather be fucking around juggling knives for its friends

ciel is an interesting one to do this prompt with i think because outwardly?? not at all

hes just like. stuck up aldhjd and to those who know him better and Get his whole "need to be the best at everything no matter the cost" thing either accept it or find him endearing or find it annoying and give him a wide berth. but that drive to be the strongest can very easily give way to some Behaviors....thatre only kept at bay by things like social expectations (like the fact that he's a Big Public Figure Now). i haven't played a Ton of ffxiv yet but that didnt stop me about daydreaming about some big dramatic catastrophe happening to him (something that threatens the safety of his party, who he loves, though youd have to hold him at gunpoint to get him to admit that out loud about anyone other than like. Literally his wife) that leads to him getting his reaper jobstone by way of Magic Of Dubious Legality that fucks his body up forever and basically renders him a zombie??? like yeah you have cool bloody meat powers now but was it worth the fact that no one, not even your wife, will ever look at you the same way again? now that everyone knows just how far you're willing to go in the pursuit of power? and all it took was another member of his party to drop hints about "Cool Forbidden Magic(dont look up why it was forbidden dont dont dont itll be so funny)". i dont think ciel is Aware of it until that happens, but he's definitely ready to embrace it under the right circumstances

revyl: revyl is always always aware of the fact that it is not, and probably never will be, like other sylvari. the crimes it comitted against it's fellows and its disconnect from the Dream are a unique kind of loneliness that not even it's adoptive mom zaara can help it deal with. it joined the order of whispers and later the Pact in an attempt to attone, and to try and connect with other sylvari, but that undercurrent of isolation is laced in every interaction with other people. also the nightmare court sect it left behind is probably not very happy about their uber poweful murderclown up and leaving only to pop up like two years later as Guy What Killed That Elder Dragon-

alta: the brass blades probably since she Definitely beat up her old boss and left him for dead real answer is feelings of deep seated inadequacy ever since she left the one thing that made her feel stable, her life as a professional pit fighter, behind and got swept up in all of this Save The World Rah Rah buisiness against her will and is Way in over her head, especially when compared to her new boss ciel who seems like he always knows exactly what to do [read:he does not we're getting to his ass next]

ciel-ciel holds himself in Very high regard due to pressures from his family and the way his feminine presentation/being trans makes everyone underestimate him out of hand, so he's constantly scraping and clawing his way to the top No Matter The Cost. He fears with all of his heart if he Ever falls behind in any way, the few friends he's managed to scrape together in his time as an adventurer will leave him in the dust, because why would anyone ever come back for him? He's also deeply afraid of being unable to keep said friends, his party, safe.(spoilers for the base game of ffxiv past this point) When they nearly wiped in the battle against Rihtahtyn sas Arvina, that was the most terror he'd ever felt in his life.
