Sometimes, a family is the king of Hollow Earth, an estranged ape child that got adopted, and an ancient Titan able to create the ice age. Also their entire army of apes.

These two panels are the true birth of oscargender
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The way that Antoinette draws such a direct connection between experiencing love/passion and being a woman!! And the way that Oscar just believes it!!! It’s so interesting to me because Antoinette’s understanding of femininity doesn’t have anything to do with women either (just like how Oscar’s understanding of masculinity doesn’t truly have anything to do with men).
In this moment, Oscar comes face to face with the fact that she has been denying herself of any romantic feelings for her entire life, and the force of this realization nearly knocks her off her feet. She feels SO intensely that her feelings physically manifest, that she agonizes over Antoinette’s words once she leaves the room. And then Antoinette accidentally tells her that a denial of her romantic feelings is the same thing as a denial of her womanhood!!!
The only romantic love that society has modeled for Oscar (and Antoinette) is the love between a man and a woman, and she is a woman in the social position of a man—to her, if she were to love a man, it would be a denial of her masculinity, of the social position that gives her unprecedented freedom, of the military office that allows her to express herself through riding and shooting and swordplay. If she were to love a woman, it would be a denial of her womanhood, and her womanhood is what can give her romantic feelings and desires in the first place, per Antoinette.

Later, Rosalie, a very beautiful woman, has collapsed in Oscar’s lap and begs her for the opportunity to stay by her side forever. Oscar responds not by denying that she has any feelings for Rosalie, but by standing up and stoically telling Rosalie that she is a woman. She internalized Antoinette’s understanding of gender, and she is acting it out. Previously, she had tenderly embraced Rosalie, and had allowed Rosalie to kiss her hand. Now, Oscar is beyond love. There is no love without gender, and Oscar must exempt herself from love in much the same way that she exempts herself from the social confines of either gender.
Of course, this simplistic understanding of gender and the ways that sexuality influences gender are turned on their head later (as long as the manga ends mostly in the same way that the anime does—I haven’t finished the manga yet lol). Just thought I’d share my oscargender mind virus while the iron is hot y’know

Vivziepop’s art style isn’t awful; instead, it’s her character designs that are the issue. She recycles the same colors, characteristics, outfits, and accessories, causing them to overlap and look alike despite how different they’re supposed to be from each other.
A major issue in Hazbin Hotel is that you can’t tell what a character is or when they died since the details in their designs fail to convey this. Angel is a 1940s spider mobster drag queen, Cherri is an 1980s punk, and Niffty is a 1950s alien-like insect demon, but you can't tell from their designs at all.

Sir Pentious died in 1888, Alastor in 1933, and Vox in the 1950s, but they’re all dressed in the same striped, shoulder-padded suits despite dying decades apart.

Charlie and Lucifer look like blonde humans instead of demons, and Vaggie, who's a moth demon bodyguard and hotel protector, looks like a gray human.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another issue with Vivziepop's character designs is how she'll sometimes overdesign her characters by giving them numerous details that do nothing but clutter their designs and make them an eyesore.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Vivziepop is the issue with her art style because she stays in her comfort zone and either does too little or too much with her character designs, making them underwhelming or a visual mess.

Lisa Frankenstein Thoughts Pt 1 of many (bc the people in my life are sick and tired so I'm yelling into the void of tumblr)
Lisa and the Creature actually make me so physically sick because what do you mean he cares so much about her he's willing to let her die? And she trusts him so much that she's willing to die with absolute faith that he WILL bring her back and they'll be together forever? Their undying devotion and obsession with each other is absolutely iconic, and they are the peak of love as we know it. They are Orpheus and Eurydice, except they get their happy ending. She brought him back and he will bring her back and I know that they will find each other in every lifetime please I need to talk about this movie it's ruining my life.

yeah the part in Lisa Frankenstein where the creature softly kissed Lisa before electrocuting her to death in her step-sister's tanning booth did, in fact, get to me. yeah what can I say I guess I'm just a romantic.
