Hi everyone! I'm a few months late to the studyblr intro party after lurking here for a while but nethertheless here it is. I am currently on semester break from university but I hope to start building this blog and creating some content related to studying and academia :)

Blog Goals & What to Expect:
I struggle with procrastination and lack of inspiration during assignments so this blog is a way to motivate myself and build my creativity. I aspire to interact with and create content involving books, writing, photography, travel, studying and academia.

100 Days of Productivity - Day 1
February 6, 2023
I didn't get much work done today, but at least I tried! Honestly, maybe I tried a little too much. Since I couldn't focus on my homework and reading, maybe I should've let myself do something else instead of trying to work for hours on end. Sometimes just stepping away from something and doing something else can help a lot with productivity. I guess I'm just scared about never returning to my work and therefore getting less done than I would if I just kept trying. It's a difficult thing to figure out.

Back to College Study Challenge
Hello! I think I'm going to start getting into Studyblr challenges again. Maybe I'll restart the 100 Days of Productivity Challenge too? Anyway, class started about a month ago, but I'm starting this challenge anyway. I kept trying to get myself to start it earlier; it just didn't work out. So here we go!
Day 1: Did you enjoy your vacation? How was it?
My vacation, a road trip across the US to visit friends in Virginia, went pretty well! I got to see some friends I haven't seen in a while, and we all played a lot of Magic the Gathering and watched a lot of anime. I was struggling with dissociation quite a bit during the trip, but I think I was able to stay present for a decent amount of it. We ate some good food--food that we don't have access to after moving to New Mexico.
When I wasn't on the trip, I spent some time working on my streaming side project, which is always enjoyable. I wish I had more time to work on it now, but here we are with the start of school and everything. I'm trying to stream about three days a week these days.
Also, I wanted to post pictures from the trip, but it turns out I don't really have any. So I ended up taking some new ones today that aren't related at all! Oh well!

finished two submissions yesterday, so i’m taking a moment to breathe before i hop on to working on the next one. spent the morning lying in bed, sipping coffee with my notebook and calendar open, on call with family, planning what diwali is going to look like.

types of study breaks for every situation
if you realize you’ve been studying for hours: grab a snack to refuel your body and watch a sitcom to refuel your brain. then back to the books.
if you’re feeling stressed out: take some deep breaths, text your friends, maybe stare at a wall for a few minutes. gather yourself.
if you can’t seem to focus: get moving and get outside. take out the garbage, check your mail box, maybe walk your dog. just get moving and get fresh air. it’ll help bring you back.
if there’s something else going on in your life and you can’t get it off your mind: write down what’s going through your head, sort of like a diary entry. it’ll help you work things out.
if you’re just mentally and physically exhausted: set a timer for 25-30 minutes and take a nap. any longer and you’ll hit REM and you’ll wake up feeling just as tired. once you wake up, get some caffeine in you.
if the material is boring as hell: find another way to study. see if there’s a crash course video online about it or draw out what you’re trying to learn in diagrams and pictures to make it fun.
if people around you won’t shut up: listen to some music. soundtrack and classical music is always good because they won’t absorb you as much as music with lyrics. white noise (like ocean waves, rain sounds, etc.) also works.
if you only half understand a concept: call/message a friend who’s not in the class and try to teach the material to them. this will help you mentally work through the material and will help you remember it as well.
