shipping the ‘brothers’ from obey me from what i can tell (i originally got super confused by this though bc i thought it was like “DONT SHIP ANY DEMONS FROM KNY”)
but this is a funny boundary to me because none of them are actually brothers. they were just told they were the demon prince when they all fell. hell one of them makes some comments in nightbringer to his ‘brothers’ 🤷
i just want to make it so clear that youtube is the place where i found my both favorite and least favorite example of how shipcourse has breached containment

like bro you are on youtube, you're lucky if someone even wants to read your description bc it was in the description of a gacha react video.

actively i can answer this already because despite not being a fictional character i have still had some of these things said to me
minor coded (audhd, below 5'4", youthful appearance, enjoys kid's media)
written to be childish (audhd, anxiety, trauma what other reasons do they need)
fully erasing parts of my cultural identity to lean one way or the other (i literally had friends who would completely ignore them bc i was white passing)
i'd get the comedic relief character treatment despite being a way more complex individual than 'haha they just say things sometimes and people laugh'
If I was a fictional character, how would the fandom misinterpret me?

Recently, I've been seeing an influx of antis who believe that problematic/taboo content is bad because it's all "shock value" or "fetish content."
I need to remind everyone that art does not have to have deeper meaning to bring you joy.
So what if what you mostly read is omegaverse smut? So what if you enjoy art of your taboo ships doing things that aren't directly sending a message? So what if the thing you enjoy is seen as "meaningless" because it does not outright criticise something in it?
When we say that we should be allowed to explore dark fiction, we don't just mean content that dictates a certain moral ideal— we mean every single piece of fiction, "icky" or not!
Because— guess what happens when we ban these "gross," "meaningless" artworks? We'll end up arguing over what is "meaningful" enough, and then everything becomes restrictive! This is no slippery slope fallacy. This is a pattern every attempt at censorship in history has followed.
To support "gross" fiction is to support dark fiction, and to support dark fiction is to support our collective freedom to fiction.
Keep reading what makes you smile 💜💜

Literally people need to talk about this more.
I'm not trying to be a bitch but antis are such fucking hypocrites most of the time it's disgusting.
Okay instead of defending that little ship trope you don't like why don't you actually talk about how your little "protect the kids, hakuna Matata" is bullshit and has literal pedophiles in it. Like do they not get that antis can be pedos/zoos or are they just ignoring that fact.
Goddamn are they stupid or are they dumb pick a struggle.
They fr they wanna protect kids yet literally are kids themselves half the time from what I've noticed, don't even know if people are pedophiles or not yet they are contacting the person who drew the stuff they hate anyway?! Like mf if you think that someone is a pedophile or anything why would you TEXT THEM? they could find your fucking adress for all you know. GOD. DAMN.
Idk what else to say my brain is like, coughing right now.
But happy Halloween everyone stay safe and never stop being who you want and doing what you do in fiction cause it's just lines on screen/paper

only reblogging so i don’t risk needing multiple comments to reply.
proship as a term originally bubbled up from the days when people were anti [ship] (ex. anti shaladin, anti klance, stuff like that). while pro shop would be for those ships. it was to show one was for shipping.
it evolved recently into encompassing more than just internal specific fandom wars. such as the “ship and let ship”, “don’t like don’t read”, and “dead dove: do not eat” kind of things. basically all older fandom terms that encouraged the use of the block button and filters so you could enjoy the content you wanted to see without entering a space you didn’t want to be in.
that is my best attempt at writing an unbiased definition for you. i hope it helps with the understanding, also if i wrote anything wrong i welcome people to correct me but this is my understanding of how the proship and antiship labels evolved over time.
I wanna clear something up real quick
Tw: mention of proship and topics involving it
I don't know much about pro ship if I'm being honest but apparently it doesn't mean 'problematic ship' (I don't believe that)
I have proship dni in my bio and I'm gonna keep it there till you give me an ACTUAL definition for proship
Because every time someone says that it doesn't mean problematic ship the either don't give a proper definition or ship inc3st or p3dophilia ect.
I don't want topics such as Shipping inc3st or ped0philia
Head canons of r4pe
Or any other thing like that
I have boundaries

"Fiction affects reality, except!-"
Has anyone noticed every example Antis use to claim fiction can cause sex crimes IRL (fiction affects reality) are all media they think caused real-world murder and violence (Jaws/Slenderman/Birth of a Nation) but yet they say "Violence & murder in media is okay because people know it's bad!"
For YEARS, antis have based their entire "movement"s argument on examples of media supposedly causing real-world (non-sexual) violence only to argue that "no that type of violence is okay" without realizing it. The core examples they swear by and parrot day in and day out while defending violence don't even have sexual violence, or incest, or pedophilia, and those things if ever mentioned in any way are especially not "~*~*GLORIFIED*~*~" in the examples.
Just thought that was Interesting!
Grey star for effort but missing the mark!

well there's a few appeals to me with dddne and taboo topics in fiction. my biggest one is the way you can look at it psychologically for a character because no reaction of a character is necessarily impossible and it's interesting to see why they react that way. also fictional characters are easier to use in exploring how someone's mental state can change so much without risking any actual stress onto a real person to play around with such things.
there's also coping. i have a few different types of trauma but the one's that apply to my tastes in dead dove are usually based on relationship trauma and trauma that i can't necessarily remember (gotta love repression /sar). having a fictional setting where i know no physical harm can happen and i can control a situation that i couldn't control before is comforting. it makes me feel like i am not necessarily powerless in a world that often makes me feel such a way. that's not even dipping into the intrusive thoughts my disorders cause.
intrusive thoughts in my experience can get way worse and lead to actual physical harm being caused unintentionally. but if i take my intrusive thoughts that make me feel deeply sick and put them into a fictional setting it allows me to explore them in a healthy manner without hurting anybody or myself in the process.
warning for consensual non-consent and rape fantasies below in case you'd rather not touch on that.
it falls along the same lines as the psychology of sexual assault victims being more likely to have rape fantasies or being into consensual non-consent. because in those areas they have an aspect of control when they didn't before. and as well with the fantasy aspect, it's just fantasy. one may feel disgusting at the fantasy for many reasons but a fantasy is better than putting themself in harms way again.
What's the appeal of Dead dove: do not eat?

I think antis need to understand that us telling them to block and curate their online experience isn’t us telling them “get the fuck over it.”
What we’re saying is to remove yourself from the situation, even if you want to yell from the top of your lungs that you hate that piece of media.
You can still cry to your friends about how a piece of work triggered you, you can still talk to your therapist about how that one fanfic made you nauseous and gave you PTSD flashbacks. If anything, hell, I’ve had some people vent to ME about how they felt with some media!
“Block and curate your online experience.” = “We want the best for you and the creator and enjoyers of this type of media.”
“Block and curate your online experience.” does NOT equal “Shut the fuck up and get over it lol.”

I asked my therapist last week if she thought being proship was wrong. She didn't know what "proship" and "anti-ship" meant, so I explained. I also told her that I kind of wanted it to be wrong, because it would make navigating the internet easier if I believed it was.
So she thinks a bit, and then goes, "Well, it's kind of like that movie Se7en, right? It's a good movie, but there's a lot of really messed-up stuff in it. Watching it doesn't mean you're actually going to send someone a head in a box, or that the filmmakers support murder."
Reminder that a) this person is a licensed therapist, and b) she had never even heard the term "proshipping" 10 minutes before this. She came to this conclusion totally on her own; I did not mention equating shipping to violence in fiction at all, and she came up with the same argument a lot of proshippers use regularly.
So yeah, I feel kinda validated. It's frustrating in a way, because like I said, part of me hoped she'd say, "Actually, that sounds unhealthy and here's why" and then give me a reason that actually made sense to me so that I was less afraid of being in certain places on the internet and maybe get some friends back. But she didn't. So... yeah.

idk only making this post here bc i don't want it on my main blog out of kind of fear? that people might get angry at me for it
but the body positivity tag on tumblr always makes me feel so sick towards myself because of how often i see them push away positivity for any body type outside of fat/plus-sized people
warning for body image issues, eating disorder talk, and body shaming ig? i think those would be the warnings and i'll tag them too
the constant statement of thin privilege in the body positivity tag makes me feel like my experience isn't real and leads to me spiraling on
'am i fully misremembering the only clear years of my life?' or 'have i been taking this wrong?' which i literally should not be questioning some of the clearest memories that spurred on my disordered eating and severe body image issues.
i am tiny in so many ways; height, weight, everything. i am a small person and i've always been self conscious about that because it makes people think i'm a teenager when i'm an adult. i work a job. i can legally drink. i have to start doing taxes. hell i went to college for a year. yet people see me as a sixteen year old based on my appearance and behaviors (i'm audhd so that adds on a whole nother layer)
but despite that self-conscious nature, i get told by my mother constantly that i am going to get fat like it's a purely negative thing. that i am going to become overweight. she constantly comments on my eating habits and it is never that i seem like i'm eating well. it is either "oh you've been eating so little, are you okay?" so i start to eat more in hopes she'll stop. but than she'll go "if you keep eating so much, you'll get fat".
for more clarification on the eating thing. i have a really high metabolism, i always have. i've always had to eat a lot to actually feel satisfied or to keep myself functioning. as i currently have to eat a certain amount within certain time frames or i full on faint from a lack of food. way easier than most people based on what i've heard. so i have to eat a lot yet i'm shamed for it.
the biggest thing was, when i was in middle school (specifically thirteen to fourteen years old) my mother used to have to check me for things. not going into that but i think it's easy to tell what it was. and she saw my stretch marks on my inner thighs near my crotch. my mother has stretch marks herself, she knows what they look like. yet upon seeing my stretch marks she accused me of self-harm and basically implied that i had no reason to have stretch marks. i physically get sick seeing them because i still feel like they are my fault.
i just wonder, am i overreacting? or do i have a genuine right to feel upset that i can't find body positivity to help myself? is there a different tag for what i'm experiencing? (i refuse to touch any eating disorder tags simply because of bad experiences with them)

everytime I see antis call themselves punk I lose hope in the internet again
I don't know how to say this but policing people's right to create and consume any fiction they want AND advocating for the corporal punishment of "thought criminals" cannot and will not ever be punk. shut up

Another big reason it's so hard to take anti-fiction arguments seriously is because I have reading comprehension, can read critically, and can enjoy fiction without having it radically change me.
I've never read any fiction with dark themes, no matter how sexualized, glorified, or whatever, that even began to make me think about condoning or supporting it in real life.
It's to the point where I'm genuinely confused by what point Antis is trying to make. Do they think that people are so brainless that they just support everything they read? of that somehow, if you read it enough, it just washes away all of your morals and core beliefs?
