I didn’t expect to make this so quickly, and in all honesty, it ain’t my best but I think the composition is nice. The second slide was the version made from, I think, 2017 around when I had first started digital drawing. I had no idea what I was doing, but I felt incredibly proud in the moment. It was inspired by the Little Match Girl, the Disney short film. The instrumentals are just so nostalgic and the animation made me cry more than once. I certainly think I’ve improved, despite my slight distaste. The wrinkles in the dress were really fun and satisfying to color. But, when I took a break from looking at it, I realized it ain’t too bad. But the colors are a tad bit ugo, and the values were kind of lost in the coloring process unfortunately :( ❄️ . ❄️ I had a hard time actually figuring out how big boobs work just because of my lack of reference. I didn’t want to look up that shizz on my computer. Gotta say, I’m the most proud with the hair and the leggings. I’m not so sure about the background tho, because I had no idea what the heck I wanted to do there exactly. I was thinking more of “Evelynn blows up the workshop” or something. At first I wanted to do “she killed Santa and she’s holding her hat” but I wasn’t sure how to go on about that. Blowing up the workshop isn’t the most characteristic of her, it’s more of a Jinx than her, but I just watched the Villain concept video where everything was in flames and she was just calm and beautiful. That just sparked some inspiration. So, I just had an old flash drive just lying around, and when I inputted it into my computer, it had all of the old clip studio paint files from around 2-3 years ago, which was when I had first started. I remember each drawing took, like around at least a week or two because a: had no idea what the heck I was doing. Wow for some reason people reaaaally liked it, and looking back I kind of just grimace and ask myself “how the gosh darn doohickey does this happen?” Fortunately and unfortunately for me, when I made cards, not a lot of people bought it, so the semi monstrosity didn’t spread as much as I hoped it didn’t. Anyways, the first picture is the one I made two days ago and finished yesterday before going to the store to buy some cookies. I’d say the redraw took around 3 hours, while the one from 2017-2018 took around a handful of days. 🌺 . 🌺 So this is my OC named Amaryllis! She is a sweetheart of mine, and I had decided to redesign her about a year ago when I really thought of being dead serious about a comic. Basically, the plot was going to be about a girl that got abandoned in the woods, and a fairy took her in. I can only dream of getting there 🌺 . 🌺 In all honesty this was kind of hard for me because I tried so many new things in this one! Once again I experimented with grayscale to color, and the colors looked a little too washed out so I attempted to fix it. Then there was the cloud hair. It doesn’t really look like the sort of color scheme for the original, but I attempted to go for a sunset sort of ordeal, and clouds just decide to turn pink. Then there was the water. I was proud of it in the moment, and looking at it now, it just looks incredibly murky! Oh well, practice makes perfect, I’ll get it right next time 🌺 . 🌺 Btw we’re almost at 500 followers! It’s quite feat, don’t you think? 🌺 . 🌺 I thought of continuing my Avatar the Last Airbender fanart line, and decided to make my submission for the #artstylebend challenge! At first, I wanted to draw #katara as the Painted Lady, but I really wanted to do a dynamic pose with her character. I realized that it would be too complex for this #artstylebendchallenge , so I decided to draw best girl (right behind Toph) Mai! She deserves some love right now Anyways. . 🌺 When I was finished the Before part of Mai, I thought that the portrait looked weird. So, I basically wasted a majority of my time trying to fix her face. The eyes kept looking weird and crooked, and my perfectionist mind couldn’t let it go. In the end, it turned out fine enough. This was once again a grayscale to color, hence why the values actually seem waaayy better and way easier to incorporate in the drawing. Would you guys like to see a tutorial or speedpaint on grayscale?🌺 . 🌺 I actually didn’t expect the After portrait to look like this in the end. You guys banned big eyes, and I couldn’t figure out how to make them small without being racist, so I incorporated a little chibi-ish style into the linework. I know for the work in progress post I put in a crowd with umbrellas. And then I got lazy and didn’t have the energy or motivation to do a crowd, so I did a simple fence with rain. I hope you like this one @chanlliee !!! 🌺 . 🌺 Once again, I kind of just got lazy with this one. I was doing pretty good on grayscale, put in a Solid amount of effort of coloring on the girl, and then I just wanted to get this over with 😂 🌺 . 🌺 Seeing as I have problems with appreciating my arts, I guess I could look for some positives. I mean, I’m pretty impressed with how this grayscale to color painting turned out in the end! I’m also really surprised how little time it took to complete! Second, the rain effects were easier than I thought they would be, the least effort put into them, but they look great in my opinion!
