i've been doing sfm for awhile, and the only thing i cannot do is add custom clothing to my call of duty characters, and i think it's really limiting what i can do. how do you do it? thanks.
headhacking them! usually i'd turn off every single bodygroups and leave the head/arms, and then move them over to the clothes loaded separately. if i can't remove the clothes, then i'd position the model at the very bottom of the scene and then stretch the head/neck up to the cloth, just enough so it doesn't clip. afterwards i'll try my best to hide the stretched head (visible from the crotch downwards) with the camera or with photoshop.

Handling with Care.
i would love to thank Neil Ellice for giving us this scene. i will cherish it forever. it also gave me a render idea, and here it is.
first person POVs are one of the best compositions out there.

i saw that your profile picture on twitter is frank woods from black ops (cold war) & was was wondering if you would consider to do or have done any russell adler renders? you've got some serious skill to your work and i think adler would look even better
see, that’s the thing - despite my best efforts on making an idea including them, what prohibits me from actually doing them is the fact that there’s barely any models from them that i can find for SFM that isn’t a broken mess. that doesn’t stop me from looking for them, however! i still want to create something for black ops.

Are you looking at the gun or are you looking at something else?
the wonders of scrolling through google for endless references.
i was originally planning on looking for a reference for a completely different render - which was for Graves. i was looking for a "pointing gun sideways". however, as i was scrolling through the right pose, i found this:
Tumblr media
a lightbulb immediately appeared on top of my head, so i saved the picture and made a reminder to make a render with it immediately.
though, i didn't copy the camera angle. i figured the pose would be better conveyed if it was positioned above as the posture looked more suggestive, and i knew who to pose when it comes to poses like this - the ghost himself.

After Work Hours.
this composition has been in my head for a while now (before i even made the college!soap render). i wanted to finally turn it into a render.
no heavy editing for this one. i wanted to convey the pureness these two have.
i DID edit the necktie though. turns out the necktie for ghost's suit was static (albeit togglable) so i scrambled to my collection looking for a model that had a black necktie. i found one from a policeman (a security guard from hitman 2, to be exact). the only downside was that only the tie itself was moveable - the base remained on his neck. this led me to make two renders; one with ghost's necktie toggled on, and one toggled off. i used the other one and made it so the base of the necktie connected to the one soap is holding (to make it look like he really IS holding ghost's necktie). modern problems require modern solutions, as they say.
the pose didn't take me a while to do. in fact, even without references i was able to picture out exactly what i wanted them both to do. what took me a while was figuring out where to place soap's right hand (i didn't want him to look awkward), so i settled with them holding hands to symbolize the closeness and intimacy they have together.
fun fact: this composition came to me in a dream (a lucid one at that). my subconscious might've aired to me how much i wanted to be treated like this... another story for another time tho, but i suppose that's why i was able to pose the two flawlessly without even looking at any references at all.

Sound the bugle now, tell them I don't care There's not a road I know that leads to anywhere Without a light, I fear that I will stumble in the dark Lay right down, decide not to go on
----
It's only the reveal trailer and I already fear for Price's life. So I got into angsty hours and decided to sketch this ಥ_ಥ. Watched Spirit The Stallion of The Cimarron and 'Sound The Bugle' really set the tone.
Hope you love this angsty sketch(;´д`)ゞ

College.
this is the first time i've created a render that embodies myself. if you've ever seen me irl, chances are you'll see me in this exact outfit, including the book and the cookie.
now — aside from having myself as inspiration, there are three more things that inspired this render:
1.) neil confirming soap's sweet tooth.
Tumblr media
2.) me and a friend's exchange.
Tumblr media
3.) and this photo of ryan gosling.

Goodbye, Captain Price. Ад ждет тебя. (Hell awaits you.)
that one scene has been on my mind since when i first saw it and i seriously believe Price is biting the dust this time. apologies in advance for the person i will become once that happens.

Vigilant.
my computer booted for the first time in a month, so i decided to make a render right away (i missed doing it).
nothing special for this one. i didn't want to push my computer too much that i crashes on me again (though i DID plan on adding at least two more soldiers behind him). i just wanted to see if i'm able to use SFM and create a render from beginning to end - it did. and i'm happy for that.
one of the soldiers is supposedly my OC but i couldn't figure out how to place him and the third one without ruining the composition (i have three camera angles for this render) until i yeeted them out because i legitimately couldn't figure how to do so.

two decades in this earth, and yet i’m starting to feel like my life will be in this eternal suffering.
tho in fairness, the pandemic was a nice change of pace, at least (as much as how i hate it). sadly, not all people are on the good receiving end. facing it is tough but eh, it is what it is.

almost all the things I keep for myself end up being for something or someone else instead. man, so much for being generous.
