Ok so i hc that both stede and ed are autistic and u know how sometimes autistic ppl will say

“i love u as much as *insert special interests*” to show like genuine affection.

I think that when Stede says to Ed “you wear fine things well” it’s the same kinda thing, as fine things and stuff like that are Stede’s main interest that’s him showing Ed his genuine affect and while ed is like ‘awh that’s nice’ it means so much more coming from Stede.
