Edinburgh International Swim Meet 2024
Danielle Hill and Thomas Leggett travelled with a Swim Ireland team to Scotland last Thursday to compete in the 25th Edinburgh International Swim Meet. Times from this meet are not being used for any of the summer team selections so this represented an opportunity to race ‘in season’, unrested to see where we are and if the skills worked on in training have ‘stuck’ in any way. With Danielle…

PTL finals
The PTL end of season meet is not something that we traditionally attend however with opportunities for Long Course qualification up for grabs this year we made an exception. Racing Long Course, no matter where you train, is an entirely different set of skills that need to be learnt and there is no better learning environment than the heat of competition. 14 young swimmers aged 9 and up…

A great weekend of racing for Teamlarne in Bangor Aurora last weekend
The first LC meet of the season for #teamlarne. Held in Bangor Aurora this meet presents the 1st opportunity for many to qualify for the season’s ‘big’ meets. With the meet falling as it didat the end of four weeks of tough training this represented a tough learning opportunity as well with some of the seniors racing with some constraints in place. Session one 27 swims in session one and we…

A small group of junior athletes headed to Sunderland this weekend for their 1st ‘overseas’ trip and their 1st racing of 2024. This level 1 meet (same as Irish level 3) is a great opportunity for these guys to be exposed to something new and gain valuable experience at the start of their swimming career. Keith Buchanan Memorial Gala
A new year but another tough weekend of racing for #teamlarne. A team of 24 made the trip to Lisburn to compete in the one day event. A massive thank you to coach Danielle Hill who, for the 2nd day in a row, went and worked a gala while being sick herself. Session one The day got underway with the youngest swimmers racing over 25m on all 4 strokes. A full list of results will follow but the…

Navigating the Waters of Time:
Balancing Future Goals and reflecting on Past lessons in Swim Training As a swimming coach, I find that the concept of time holds a unique significance in the world of swim training. The fluidity of water seems to mirror the ebb and flow of our thoughts, often oscillating between reflections on the past and visions of the future. In the context of swim training, the question arises: do we think…
