Sorry to bother you, but could you use "anti-Edelgard" or "Edelgard critical" as a tag for your post on her ? It permit to avoid conflict and create a better space for the fandom ! Thank you for taking your time to read, have a good day :)
....You do realize that I didn't even say anything outright critical towards Edelgard in that post you're talking about, right? And you do, in fact, know what blog you're on, right? A blog about Byleth not wanting to be a part of Edelgard's war because he sees that there were other options she could've chosen that would've avoided all of this bloodshed?
As much as I appreciate the politeness, this is a very out of place request. Of course this blog isn't going to be praising Edelgard left and right, but it's not like I'm outright demonizing her either. I'm just showing the potential consequences that her actions may have - in this case, it's her teacher deciding he wants no part of this and deciding to leave.
Long story short...the block button does exist. If you don't want to see this blog's content, then just block me.

Boy can you imagine what the final confrontation between Edelgard and Byleth? I'd wager on Edelgard being losing control of her emotions and Byleth, much to El's chagrin, staying his rather stoic self.
Oh that final confrontation would be...something
I absolutely adore this mental image though?? Edelgard getting all emotional, losing control as she confronts him about why he abandoned her as such when he was supposed to support her (because honestly, I can imagine Edelgard kind of assuming that her beloved teacher was readily going to support her - only to get the rug pulled out from under her), angry and furious and deep down a little more than sorrowful as she explodes
And Byleth...just stays quiet. Staring at her with that stoic expression he had when he had first met her those 5 long years ago at Remire Village, not saying a single word.
You know how some people, when met with silence during a moment of vulnerability or extreme emotion, will end up ranting even more? Maybe even saying things that they hadn't meant to say? I imagine that'd happen here - even if I can't exactly say I know what she'd say.

Greeting Quote (If Edelgard is not in the plaza) “Hello, I am Eligos. Your companion [friend’s name] asked me to say...”hello”.” (If Edelgard is in the plaza) “-! Ah...I’m Eligos. Your companion [friend’s name] says hello...I need to go. Goodbye.”
Plaza Lines (If Edelgard is not in the plaza) “A war here as well, huh...could this one have been avoided?” “Do you need any help with your work? I may not look it, but I do have some experience with helping teach others.” “I wonder if she’s here...” “My lance? Well...it’s from someone very important to me. Someone I lost.” (If Edelgard is in the plaza) “...Please don’t tell her I’m here. Please.” “.......” “I’m sorry but...I can’t stay. We can talk later.” “...Why did you do it? You had options...choices you could’ve made to avoid all of this.”
Voiced Lines “[chuckles]” “What are the other nations in this world like? Ah, that’s an odd question, isn’t it?” “I learned so much from my father...I wonder what he’d think of me now?” “It’s admittedly strange to be using a lance now...I’m much more comfortable with a sword in hand.” “Was I...wrong, in my decision? Ignore me, I’m just thinking out loud.” (If you have summoned Edelgard) “The Emperor, huh...she really was serious. But why...?” (If you have summoned Edelgard) “She doesn’t know I’m here, right? I...don’t think I could face her.” (If you have summoned Dimitri) “...I’m proud. Of how far he’s come. Who? No one, just talking to myself.” (If you have summoned Claude) “My friend...I believe in you. Perhaps you can get through to her. Ah, just talking to myself again.”
Lv 40 Dialogue “Hello, [summoner]...I believe I owe you an explanation. Hm? I don’t have to say anything? No, I’m not forcing myself to say this - rather, I want to tell you this...as a friend, confiding in another. My name isn’t truly Eligos. It’s Byleth.” (If you have summoned Byleth, Tested Professor - if not, the next two lines do not occur) “I am well aware that I'm not at all like the other version of myself, walking around. There is a reason...though I hope you don’t think any less of me for it.” “I once taught the Black Eagles House of the Officer’s Academy. The house leader, Edelgard...she thought very highly of me. She was a bright student, though stubborn as a mule. I don’t understand her reasoning why, but as it turned out, she was masquerading as the Flame Emperor - and eventually wished to declare war on the Church of Seiros. She wished to change the system, and decided to do so by force. When I saved her that day, in the Holy Tomb...I never wanted a part of this war. So that night, I left. I may care for the students I left behind...but I cannot be asked to fight in a needless war. If you ever see Edelgard, [summoner]...ask her this for me. Why was war the only option she felt she had? She had choices, choices with less bloodshed - so why did she choose to try and forge a nation on the blood of innocents?”

Greetings! You’re AU is amazing. I was wondering, would Byleth take part in any battles during the war? I know they’re lying low, but if they’re using a plain sword, would there be any battles where they think “fighting in this one is worth maybe getting caught?” (Also, you probably already know if you were the anon, but there’s asks on iturbide about what this Byleth would do in Askr.)
Technically yes, and technically no. Byleth wouldn't willingly participate in any battles, but if he got caught in the middle, welp, no choice but to fight. He'd obviously fight against the Empire, but there is one thing I wanna correct - he's actually using a lance here, not a plain sword.
If Byleth were to actively choose to participate in any battles, I think I've said before that he'd only ever participate in rescuing villages from soldiers pillaging them.
As for the Heroes concept, a) yes, that is indeed me hehe and b) I am actually working on getting a little Heroes info for him! There won't be any art or Forging Bonds dialogue, but I will include plaza lines, voice lines, and maybe make up some skills who knows slkdfjsdk

Oh I love this AU! You know if the TWSITD are hanging around, I wonder if Byleth might try to gather a bit of intelligence. Maybe kill a few? I’d also love to know how the Church reacts to Byleth post-reunion - do they think he is a traitor? They might not welcome him or the BE with open arms depending. I could see some very interesting conversations happening. Hope you have a good week! :)
HI SORRY THIS TOOK SO LONG TO GET TO and thank you for the well wishes i really need them
But about the intelligence-gathering...You gotta remember, Byleth - at this point in time - does not know who the TWSITD are yet. Yes, he’s encountered Kronya, Solon, and Thales, but that happens no matter the route. He doesn’t know that Edelgard a) knows who they really are and b) does not know she is working with them.
Because - and I see this overlooked a Lot - if Byleth did know, I can’t imagine him being too keen on Edelgard working with the people that got his father, the only family he had, murdered. No matter how much she says she didn’t want that to happen and couldn’t control it, it’d sound insincere to his ears, because she could have at least tried.
(And I’m not even gonna get to how insensitive she was immediately after Jeralt’s death. I understand being bad at being comforting, but that was something else.)
I do imagine the Church - well, Seteth more specifically - being wary around Byleth when he takes the plunge and goes to the monastery for the Millenium Festival. Those on the battlefield that day, however, do remember that Byleth wasn’t present whatsoever, along with how distracted Edelgard five years ago and still is now. So while Seteth may (for the time being) hold Byleth at arm’s length and not trust him until he proves otherwise, most of the soldiers around (including Alois, who is relieved to see who is effectively his little brother safe and sound. Don’t think I forgot that, you will pry their sibling bond from my cold dead hands - as well as Flayn, who is just happy to see him alright) will be treating Byleth surprisingly well, with a couple even jokingly congratulating him for escaping from the Empire’s grip.
(Rhea does not know Byleth is here. It is very important that she not know Byleth is here, because - and Seteth reasons - the moment she finds out, she’s gonna be trying to get up to command the Knights of Seiros to battle and take Edelgard’s head. And they cannot afford that fight right now.)
Some of the Beagles might not be so lucky - I have a feeling Ferdinand in particular may be feeling this the roughest. Then again, as the most vocal against Edelgard, his presence may be tolerated just a little more than it would’ve been otherwise. It also helps that he’s gonna be throwing himself into helping with chores and other things around the monastery.

How would TWSTD play into things? Byleth would at least be aware that Edelgard's the Flame Emperor at this point, and likewise her affiliation with them would definitely be. A thing. But even going past that, seeing as Byleth and the sword would be AWOL there's no way they'd just be sitting around, twiddling their thumbs /hoping/ he doesn't inevitably get involved in things again.
Sorry this took me a bit to get through, I suddenly got a ton of work shoved onto my plate...
But as for the TWSITD, I actually imagine them being a little more at odds with Edelgard in this AU. For all intents and purposes, they are still working together - but that alliance is just a tad more strained than before. Edelgard considers them the prime suspects in Byleth’s “kidnapping”, and this is Edelgard we’re talking about. I don’t think she’d be hiding her hostility very well, even if she agrees to still work with them.
The TWSITD would likely be searching for Byleth as well, but as for him knowing about the TWSITD....I actually don’t know if he’d know about the TWSITD specifically? He’d definitely know Edelgard’s the Flame Emperor, and that she’s affiliated with the same people that cause the horrors at Remire, as well as, oh yeah, murdered his father.
(I’ll be honest, I never got why Byleth would be so willing to work with Edelgard on CF routes, she’s working with the people who murdered Jeralt - no matter if she says that wasn’t the plan. Edelgard seems a little too happy to play the “guilt by association” card anyway, so she shouldn’t be complaining. And also this is off topic.)
But yeah, long story short, the Slitherers are gonna be looking for Byleth, just as Edelgard is. I mean, having the Fell Star and the Sword of the Creator in their grasp? Boy would THAT make life easier for them.

So what do the Black Eagles students get up to during the timeskip? How and when do their loyalties start to waver? And do they all show up for the Millennium Festival, or do some of them arrive later? I love the concept and can't wait to see more of what you have planned!
It actually depends on each person, I think. After all, each student starts having their doubts individually. Some might ditch at the very beginning of the timeskip like Caspar (and Linhardt probably, since those two seem to be a package deal), while others might stay all the way up to a few moons before the Millenium Festival, like Ferdinand (even if he does oppose Edelgard, I imagine him believing that perhaps he could advise her, try and convince her to think more about the citizens - Ferdinand may be optimistic, but even that has to run out somewhere).
Most of the Beagles, I imagine, show up for the Millenium Festival. The obvious exceptions here are Edelgard and Hubert (although Edelgard is noticeably torn about not being able to go). The only reason I imagine the Beagles are even able to get into the monastery is due to some being known deserters of the Empire...and also Byleth being there, even if he isn’t recognizable on sight anymore. As for when they arrive? I actually imagined one of two possibilities.
It’s either a) the reunion ends up happening what would be a little later gameplay wise. Like, you’d start off with just Byleth deciding to go to the monastery for the Millenium Festival on a whim, and as the first couple of chapters progress, you meet up with more and more of the Black Eagles, who were all heading to the monastery as well. And by the time Byleth reaches the monastery, he has most of his class back.
Or b) they all meet up at once at the monastery gates lmao

Byleth’s Departure
“It feels as though the weight of this burden is crushing me.”
Even though Edelgard continued speaking after that, Byleth’s own thoughts were far too rampant to truly listen. He had only wanted to protect Edelgard from dying. He hadn’t realized his decision had suddenly and rapidly shifted his role from “professor” to “war general”. A part of him wondered if he should have realized something was wrong sooner, but it was too late for regrets.
Not when Edelgard was declaring war on the Church, forgoing the diplomacy even Byleth could see was available to her.
“Why did you choose this path?” Byleth asked, as soon as Edelgard finished speaking. “I don’t understand why.”
Edelgard gave him an incredulous look, as though the answer should have been obvious. “My teacher, this was the only way to bring about change. As long as the Church is here, no change can take place.”
“But why is that?” He continued to ask, well aware of how he was pushing his luck. “Why was war the only option?”
“Did you not see how unwavering that beast is?” Edelgard crossed her arms across her chest, almost petulant. “No amount of talking or negotiations would make her change. Thus, I must force it, for the betterment of Fodlan.”
The thing was, Byleth hadn’t been referring to Rhea.
“If not Rhea, then why not Dimitri and Claude? They both seemed open to talk. I don’t see why you wouldn’t be able to discuss something with them.”
At that, Edelgard seemed to sigh. “My teacher, they would have both been indoctrinated by the Church’s teachings. Dimitri is heir to the Holy Kingdom, after all, and Claude is no better.”
Byleth himself just wanted to scream. Did she even talk to either of them? Just from his own conversations with the both of them, Byleth knew that Dimitri was rather disillusioned with the Goddess for someone heir to the Holy Kingdom - and he was very vocal about the changes he was going to lobby for once he was crowned.
And even the idea of Claude, Claude of all people being indoctrinated by anything, was ridiculous! Claude himself questioned the Church at any opportunity he could that wouldn’t get him caught, never mind all of the digging into the Church’s and Abyss’s libraries for any new and potentially enlightening information.
“...I can see on your face that you do not believe me.” Edelgard’s voice was firm, but Byleth could hear the undertone of hurt in it.
“...I do not. But I will concede.” Before Edelgard could brighten up, Byleth added, “On one condition.”
Edelgard looked at him curiously. “So long as it is nothing outlandish, I suppose…”
“It is late.” Byleth began, only causing Edelgard to look at him confused. “We should all get some rest. Then, in the morning, you will have a clear enough mind to explain everything to me. And to your comrades.”
Edelgard stilled. Byleth stared her down. “Do you really wish to make them fight a war with no idea as to what they’re fighting for? What kind of leader does that?”
At that, Edelgard seemed to tense, before deflating. She thought for a few moments, before nodding her head. “That...would be a good decision. Very well. I will discuss everything with you, and the others, in the morning. Good night, my teacher.”
And with that, Edelgard turned and walked away. Byleth assumed she would be heading to her room, and Byleth would be doing the same.
Except he did not intend to sleep.
Or stay until morning.
That is what led to Byleth now, quietly and quickly tearing apart the room he had been given to sleep in. Never loud enough to possibly wake any of his students (he knew Bernadetta, for one, could be a terribly light sleeper, as was Hubert), but enough to make his room look as though there was a struggle. He tore off parts of his armor to leave behind, as though he had been dragged away without being able to properly armor himself.
For a few moments, he stared at the Sword of the Creator. It glowed gently at him, almost as if in response to some thought he wasn’t aware he had. Finally, he decided to just bring the sword with him - it’d make more sense with his story, as there’d be no point in leaving a legendary sword behind when you’re already kidnapping its wielder, and besides. It was likely better that he hold onto it, rather than let it stay in Edelgard’s hands. Carefully, he wrapped up his sword in his coat, before tying it to his back. He tugged on a cloak he’d found in the room, made sure he carried only the necessities, and carefully climbed out the window.
It wasn’t the first time he’d infiltrated and left a fort, after all. His days as the Ashen Demon may have been almost a year behind him now, but all he’d learnt from those days (and his father - though it still caused a pang in his heart to think of him, now was not the time for such sentiment) would be a great aid to him. Especially now, as he silently climbed out of the window and scaled down the fort wall, taking extra care to make sure he didn’t catch the sight of any patrols.
As soon as his feet touched down on the ground, he took off running, until the fort was but a distant sight on the horizon.
For a moment, he stopped, and stared back at the fort. For a moment, he wondered if he should even be doing this, if he was wrong for abandoning his students in such a way. He shook those thoughts out of his head.
Perhaps he was in the wrong, but Edelgard was about to begin a continent-wide war that would sacrifice hundreds of thousands of lives, all for a cause that could have been easily achieved had she talked to the other two house leaders. And truly talked to them, not the stilted conversations Edelgard had with them out of having no other choice.
Perhaps one day she’d see differently, but until that day, Byleth refused to stand by her side.
And so he ran off into the night, only ever stopping to catch his breath.
By the time Edelgard awoke in the morning, Byleth was long gone.
(And as Edelgard’s eyes widened at the sight that awaited her in Byleth’s rooms, internally cursing herself for not strengthening patrols and feeling the rising panic at not just the loss of a powerful soldier, but a trusted friend-
As she ran through the fort, awakening each and every one of the other Black Eagles and ordering them to begin searching as much as they could, because their professor had just been kidnapped-
As Edelgard, deep down, perhaps wished that she had told Byleth the truth earlier, as though that could have somehow prevented his kidnapping-
Miles and miles away was a man, purchasing some hair dye, and changing his once mint-green hair to a deep indigo.)

I love them idea of Byleth jumping ship and house flushed out and will thought out it all is! What if Ferdinand and some other Black Eagle Strike Force (of they're officially gathered like that already) jump ship a while in as well? Not immediately, of course, but I am pretty sure that Ferdinand resisted Edelgard and her plans for a while so it would be interesting to see how she deals with more abandonment.
Actually, that was the plan. I may say this is a divergent CF AU, though that’s only because of the decision to defend Edelgard at the Holy Tomb, since that is what triggers the criteria for a CF route. There wouldn’t be a Black Eagles Strike Force to begin with, since it sounds like that only forms a) if all of the Black Eagles are present in the Empire and b) Edelgard is able to take the monastery during the Battle of Garreg Mach.
You have to remember, it wasn’t just Ferdinand resisting Edelgard and her plans. In fact, if you remember, on both VW and AM, you have to recruit him in the war phase by defeating him on the Bridge of Myrrdin with Byleth. Arguably, I’d say someone like Caspar would’ve been a better example to bring up - considering his post timeskip in non-CF routes is spent beating up Imperial troops if I’m remembering correctly.
As for the abandonment...I’m not sure if Edelgard would realize it was truly abandonment, depending on who it was, when it happened, etc. She might think the same thing happened as it did with Byleth, as in she didn’t explain herself enough to win them over to her cause - and if she could explain, it’d be enough to win them over, no problem.
Once they’re all gone, however, and the only one still by her side is loyal Hubert? She’d certainly be feeling betrayed by the ones she thought would stay by her side, especially if they left during the timeskip - or worse, at the end of the timeskip, after five years of a bloody war. And oh, it only gets worse when she learns they’ve joined the Church, the very enemy she’s been painstakingly trying to fight, the very enemy she forced herself to join the Agarthans for in order to take down. If you look at it the right way, that’d be a betrayal of the highest degree. They might even be officially declared traitors.
And something tells me Edelgard does not take kindly to traitors.

How do you think Dimitri would react to seeing Byleth again after 5 years? Since he hasn't been on the run and actually has his friends to support him, how do you think he (and the rest of the BL) would react?
and DEFINITELY at least shocked. I do think he’d have noticed Byleth’s absence in the Battle of Garreg Mach, and the lack of ANY sight or mention of him during the timeskip, but Dimitri wouldn’t have had as much time to focus on trying to look for him, like Edelgard or even Claude would’ve. After all, Dimitri’s got a kingdom to run, a VERY important ally he needs to make sure supplies get to, and of course making sure the Empire is fended off.
So you can obviously imagine his shock when he heads to the monastery, intent to go talk to Seteth about something (maybe trying to plan a push, or see what they’re options are, or even check on them after a big attack - as unsafe for him as it would be, I can imagine Dimitri being worried enough to go in person) and being COMPLETELY blindsided by the sudden sight of Byleth in the monastery.
I do imagine during the Academy Phase, Byleth would’ve actually befriended both Claude and Dimitri - it’s part of his main reason for running in the first place, the fact that Edelgard’s jumping immediately to war when he knows full well that Claude and Dimitri would be open to and even welcome to diplomacy or talking things out.
Dimitri’s definitely gonna be happy to see Byleth alive though, even if it might take him a moment to recognize him due to whatever disguise Byleth may still be donning (I imagine he continues to wear one early in the war phase, and only reveals himself fully once a plan of attack is fully established).
And I do imagine Dimitri’s doing a LOT better in Onyx Sun. He’s actually got his friends for support, he wasn’t framed for murder and sent to lose his mind to his survivor’s guilt in the wild, and who knows maybe he’s actually talked to someone about his issues.
Then again, this is Dimitri we’re talking about, but yknow one can hope.

Would Byleth's old mercenary band join them? Would they seek them out?? Avoid them?? Because I feel like most of them would have a bone to pick with Edelgard/the Empire if they find out she was working with the people who killed Jeralt.
I'd LOVE to have Jeralt's mercenary group join Byleth. Because yeah, they'd totally have beef with the Empire if they ever found out that they were the ones behind Jeralt's death. He was obviously very well respected, and if his mercenary troup have been traveling with him and Byleth for at most 15-20 years (since Byleth is canonically about 20 years old), they're obviously gonna be very ready to fight the ones that killed their troup leader and orphaned Byleth (since I personally love picturing Byleth and Heralt being close with that mercenary troup).
But here's the thing - it's gonna be more than a little hard to sneak around with a who-knows-how-big troup of mercenaries. Mercenaries who would be recognizable just for having worked with the Blade Breaker and the Ashen Demon. I don't think itd be smart for Byleth to travel with them - as much as he may miss them.
That's also if the mercenary troop even knows where Byleth is. I think for now at least, the troup is just gonna be traveling around, maybe scattered to the winds during the war at the very least searching for Byleth.

IT'D BE SUCH A MODIFIED SILVER SNOW ROUTE THAT ITS NOT EVEN RECOGNIZABLE AS SILVER SNOW. I imagine they'd hail the Gatekeeper and meeting with the archbishop, who is at that point Seteth. He'd be VERY suspicious, but I think he'd be willing to work something out, seeing as how no one there is actually working with the Empire - and if they did, they've long since defected. And from that point forward, all I've got is "at some point, Claude and Dimitri head to the monastery, Dimitri to discuss something with Seteth and Claude to finally start working out an alliance, since by then he almost definitely would've known Teach went to the monastery.
WELL AFTER A CERTAIN POINT IT REALLY STOPS RESEMBLING CF because Edelgard isn’t part of the post-timeskip group and Byleth does ally with other forces against her.  In terms of the situation with the war, it’s more akin to CF where Edelgard hasn’t made significant progress and Rhea hasn’t been captured; but the mechanical aspect of Byleth working against her rather than siding with her falls more in line with the non-CF routes.
I’m just very excited to have Dimitri and Claude show up and big group alliance where maybe individual regions can maintain their autonomy instead of being all subsumed under a single leader which is the thing that most distresses me about every ending in Three Houses that’s not how anything works IntSys.
(And of course Claude knows before he shows up that Teach is there, it’s Claude)

not the anon with the byeleth au - about byleth running away in the dead of night, what if they made it look like there was a struggle? like they'd been captured rather than they ran away, so edelgard's attention may be diverted elsewhere?
That’s a good point, actually!  Tear some cloth from his outfit, maybe sever the weird amulet/buckle/thing around his waist guard...that might even contribute to Edelgard’s limited effectiveness in the battle for Garreg Mach!
