VERY IMPORTANT LIST

I might not be one of those who have Sans as one of their favorite characters, but frankly i truly feel like there is something unique in the way Toby Fox wrote Sans' character compared to the others.

Something about the way Sans was written is incredibly difficult to replicate for a fan.

What i mean is, for instance, let us say for the sake of example that i decide to sit down and try to imagine or even write down a short scene involving Sans. (Like you might see in a fancomic.)

Despite having done so much research about the character, the way he works, talks, acts, etc... It will take me far longer to do this for him than with any of the other characters. Like, three times as long !

And even then after all that, it usually doesn't quite feel quite right...

It speaks like Sans, it acts like Sans, its character is accurate to Sans', but it is like it misses something. A sort of more profound "Sans vibe" that is incredibly difficult to convey even if you write the character "accurately".

This is something that happens on a much wider scale, too. I've talked to several people who have reported feeling the exact same way whenever they looked at comics or other fan content featuring Sans. Especially the pacifist/neutral routes Sans.

People may replicate Sans' character with varying canon accuracy, but it nearly always feels like it is lacking a part of Sans' charm when you compare those ones to the very few official Sans content that pops up once in a couple years from Toby's hand.

Toby Fox really seems to be the only person able to write Sans "that way" in a very consistent manner.

Sans is the only character in the game that gives me this feeling...

He is rather filthy… but if you cleaned him, he’d dissolve into nothing. If you look closely… he’s covered in breaks and cracks. That filth is gluing the boy together!

He DOES bathe, though. Sulfur baths every day!

GraveMistake

In GraveMistake, the monsters are all influenced by a curse that has turned them into mostly-mindless monsters, all heavily based on certain events that are still a secret.

Visiting monsters, and especially humans, can be heavily influenced by this world’s curse. For monsters it happens slowly after a week of staying there, but for humans, it’s instant.

Monsters can avoid the curse by staying for a few days and leaving, but it is unpredictable. The risk of turning can be different for each monster, depending on their health, mental state and who they run into in this world.

The curse doesn’t change humans physically. Instead, it makes them see and hear things that aren’t there. If they’re able to leave the underground/world, it doesn’t follow them.

If something feels strangely familiar, that is entirely intentional.

Undercurrent Toriel, the outsider.

Basics:

The only monster on the outside of the barrier, she’s managed to get along with enough people to trade at a few ports closest to the sealed island and frequently goes back and forth to a few ports. She’s capable of sailing through any type of weather by herself, which is strange, but no one really questions it.

She is kind to a fault and will offer help to anyone that she’s able to, often offering free passage to the next port. No one has seemed to notice that a few have never returned.

She sent a few humans into a dingy towards the island during storms, while she has no idea of their fate, she will keep sending them in until she gets what she wants.. whatever that is.

@maxladcomics you are very unusual in your turnaround rates from scripting to the final result.

But— patience and motivation are huge hindrances for me. I’m still going— but now I’m working on another addition to the River-verses… so there’s another reason for delays in updates. Doing too much.

Again. @maxladcomics is unusual in this that he can have over 5 different comics going- and still lovingly hurt us at a constant basis. 🤣

I did want to ask how long it usually takes for you to complete a page?

I’ve done a couple comics before, but I find they take forever. It’s amazing you have the patience for it.

Well! If I have a sketch and script already up, depending on the detail and shading, probably 3-5 hours? Obviously it depends on how long the pages are, since my style of them can go from 8-16 panels EASY.

From reactions during streams, apparently I am very fast at drawing, so the time it takes might be unusual lol.

I never considered patience to be part of the process tbh, it's normally motivation issues, especially when I'm lacking free time.

But I do get impatient when I can't work out a page that seemed so easy before I started, then I start yelling at whoever will listen to see if they can help me, or see what I've done wrong.
