A/N: Day 2 for @polyamships Multiamory March.

It starts the day after the ritual, a last hopeful attempt to keep Shasta alive. She’d been hiding how badly she was struggling for weeks, leaning heavier on her branch cane, struggling with doors, walking into things and clearly mishearing things, the brain fog and pain was back, the sickness was back. The ritual takes place at night, of course, each woman giving blood to the mixed tea, each woman loving Shasta with all her heart. Asha’s touch had been first, gentle, sure, radiant with light. Aphrodite, her latest love next, her touch feather light and burning with love. Nymph, who presses a kiss to her hairline as she gives blood, promising she will not let Shasta go. Maus is last, a soft whispered ‘Please Panacea’ the first words she speaks in weeks. Next day, Shasta crumbles. She’s barely able to see, full of fear and Asha and Nymph guide her gently to bed. Aphrodite makes tea, gently supporting her head as she drinks and Maus slips, silent as ever, into bed beside her, tucking her head under Shasta’s chin, slim arm around Shasta as she speaks, the same soft whisper as before, but stronger, full of hope. “We saved you. Shasta. It worked. I know it did.” Silence falls as the others clean, slowly drifting into the bed. Shasta is cradled, safe, against them all, Maus head still on her collarbone, soft lips at her neck. Asha is on the other side, Aphrodite pressed to her back where Maus has Nymph tucked against her. Shasta wakes next day, alone. The others are cleaning but she sits, then stands. No pain. Then it comes clearer. She can hear them talking as they make tea and breakfast, she can feel the floor again, her knees and ankle and back aren’t sore. She’s alive…. Then it happens. She pads, barefoot, to the door, drinks in the sight of her girls, following Maus out to the table in the sunshine where breakfast is set up, then looks up into the woods. Georgina Stanton, Athena, stands there, then, finally, crosses the boundary one more time, into Shasta’s home. “Room for one more Sister?” Shasta follows instinct then, moves closer and holds, tightly, to Georgina, barely hiding her soft sob, Asha’s welcoming smile all the sign Georgina needs. She’s home.
