I've not written here for quite a while. But I've got ideas how I wanna learn Italian (or rather get input) and because I know myself, I'll write the things down here so I'll (hopefully) remember them. Some I've already implemented in my daily routine, others I'm planning on doing so. I'm not so keen on active studying at the moment because I'll start training to be a webdesigner soon and wanna focus on that, so all I do at the moment is just a little of Drops and Duolingo each day. (Yes, I know it's not perfect but it's better than nothing, I think) What I wanna do however is getting more input. And I want to do that through TV and podcasts 'cause those are things I generally do in my free time, so why not do it in Italian, at least a little bit? So, TV isn't the issue, I watch some shows I've already seen in English and/or German and some that I haven't watched before (actually, one of them I've watched before but that was in Italian as well). For this I made a TV schedule and it is integrating quite well in my daily life. Now to the podcast bit, I have a few that I know of and one that I actively wanna listen to (mainly because it's the only one that's not focused on learning the language). But I am a huge procrastinator and this is why I'm putting this in here, and I think that my solution is that I will say that I listen to one episode per week for that.

Adding to this because I forgot something
Subtitles: Subtitles are a great tool, and I think most of the language learning community agrees on that. But only til a certain point. I have seen videos with titles like "how to stop having to use subtitles". And I wanna say one thing: Using subtitles DOES NOT take away from your level of language learning. In fact, I mostly use subtitles in German (my first language) and English (the language I'm most proficient in after German) - because I have a fucking hyperactive brain and would miss half of the dialogue otherwise. Languages in which I'm not yet as proficient I don't need to use subtitles, just the sound is engaging enough to me. But the general consensus on subtitles in the lang com seems to be: "Use in the beginning, get rid of it later." And I don't like that.
My Issues with the Language Learing Community
First of all, I love being part of the language learning community and don't have a general grudge against it or anything but I do still have some issues.
Assumptions: People generally assume that everyone learns languages for output and that input is just important to learn and keep the language alive. Not everyone learns languages for output. Maybe they just wanna enjoy media in other languages and don't have the desire to speak or write the language.
Resources: Discussions about resources are more often than not extremely classist. And apart from that there's the constant bashing of certain resources (Duolingo), and whilst I wouldn't recommend Duolingo as the only source for language learning, it certainly is one. And if someone only wants to use Duolingo and nothing else, that's their choice. Yes, it's heavily gamified but there are people who keep learning a language due to that gamification (like me). And the bashing is so annoying to me because it's mostly like "Bah, it doesn't work for me, I'll go back to my textbook" and I'm always sitting there like "yeah, do that. Nobody's forcing you to use Duolingo, it's fine to not use it if it doesn't work for you."
Toxic productivity: The language community has a tedency to toxic productivity. It's always like "do something in your target language every day" and whilst that is good advice it also makes me feel bad when I literally cannot do something in my TL on low energy days. Though it does happen, it's very seldom that people tell you that taking breaks is okay. And the other point on toxic productivity is that people will tell things that work for them as if they would work for everyone. I don't have a problem with people who say like "This is what works for me" if people ask questions like "How can I be consistent in language learning?" but I do have a problem with people who are like "Do this!" as if it was the only way or the only right way to do things.

Quite obviously diaries aren't for me, not in general and not for language learning.

Diario Italiano, Settimana Due
As last time words written in pink (like this) are words I had to look up. And I also wanted to say that I'm open to and will welcome corrections.

The pink indicates things I had to look up

Breaking up with a language #langtwt
I'm not actively studying Hindi anymore. At the moment I don't have any interest in it whatsoever but I can't guarantee that I won't get back into it at any point. During the time I actively learnt Hindi I got pretty comfortable reading the Devanagari script, which was the reason I got into Hindi in the first place, since Hindi was the first language that crossed my mind when thinking of languages written in Devanagari. If I should ever go back into Hindi I'll practice to handwrite Devanagari. Could I do that regardless? Yes, absoloutely but I know myself and I won't have the motivation to do so, if I'm not benefitting from it in the moment.

And this is the part I usually put "plan for tomorrow" but I figured I won't share my plan on here anymore. Because it made me feel I had to do my planned things as fast as possible so I still was concentrated enough to share it here when I was done. I figured I won't share my plan on here anymore but I'll continue to make and review it
