Label matters! It is very important to know how to read food label without being tricked to make healthy food and nutrition choices! Some of the things I try to keep in mind during my grocery shopping are -Yes to minimally processed food with natural ingredients. No to product with added sugar, with artificial ingredients or synthetic chemicals. Try to pick more from the right side of grocery store which is mostly for fruits and vegetables and less from the middle where you find all the processed food. try to Ignore claims or highlighted information on the front of the packaging, that’s mainly to lure you to make purchase. Lot of food with claim ‘balance’, ‘fuel’, ‘complete nutrition’, healthy breakfast’ has lot of sugar and chemicals in them be aware of that. I think this is a very exciting time in the food industry. Its an era when meatless eating is no longer limited to Mondays. When food companies are innovating mainstream food products using plant based ingredients such as mung bean, lentils, cauliflower for a sustainable future. I still remember the time when I had to explain people why chicken and fish are not considered as vegetarian but thats history now.
