I have thoughts about the demon and prey dynamic as read through a familial lens. For context Ciel's parents died and he was kidnapped and sold into a cult. As a result a like. 10? at oldest? Ciel is approached by Sebastian, a demon, and is offered a contract that basically says Ciel will be freed and Sebastian has to do anything he says, if it's in his power anyway, and in exchange whenever Ciel dies Sebastian gets to take his soul with no issues.

Now instinct is to read this dynamic as romantic, this is unfortunately the most common way to read it in shipping spaces, but all I'm saying is that so many parts of them as a duo are so much more impactful if you read it as Ciel seeing Sebastian as a protective and familial figure.

He lost his parents. He already struggles with masculinity and what it means to be a man because he's 12 and running a big business and an aristocrat. He's very stoic and unwilling to show he feels any emotions let alone discuss them. But still he shows a level of vunrability with Sebastian that he never really shows with anyone else. Sebastian is the only one to know about and see the branding mark Ciel has from the cult, he's shown asking Sebastian to stay with him in his room until he falls asleep, he allows himself to be cared for in any parental way only by Sebastian, is only ever seen crying or emotional around Sebastian, etc

Also still absolutely losing it over the constant comparisons with Ciel to dogs and him knowingly going “woof” like the little shit he is

Sebastian, very passive aggressively acknowledging the allusion to dogs and his and Ciel’s positions of power and thus Ciel’s position of power with the Queen: The truth is I despise them

I'm reminded why I liked Ciel as a protagonist he's very very interesting and truely morally grey in a way only someone who's not even 15 yet can be, you know? I can't remember how much they expand on his issues outside of just.. saying what happened to him? That'll be interesting. And if I remember correctly their MIGHT be some new content? I'll have to look it up.

And yeah he is probably the funniest character in this anime so far. Currently being held hostage and the guy doing it is like. Super pissed cause this preteen has a high class space in their society and has specific connections with the literal Queen Of England and is referred to as "The Queens Guard Dog" and Ciel makes a joke that he doesn't think he, or his servants, are in much danger.

The guy gets the assasins he hiered to kill all his servents on the phone and they're freaking out and then Sebastian picks up the phone like "Yes hello I'm speaking on behalf of the Phantomhive estate can I speak to my young master please" and this guy is in *shock* and Ciel, knowing exactly what fucking happened, just goes "woof". Comedic genius.

I feel very positively about how this anime treats Lizzie as a feminine young girl and how she's never made fun of for being emotional or girly. She's given so much respect and understanding as well as exploration into how she might feel about the situation she's in despite being betrothed so young

And I completely forgot about the Jack The Ripper plotline help. Didn’t stop me from remembering the twist though. God I love the supernatural elements of this show they're so fun. Pov you get kidnapped by the guy you think might be Jack The Ripper (on purpose this was all a ploy to catch the guy doing it) and now you summon your demon butler to come save you because you can just do that. He effortlessly beats every man in the auction room you're in and then he castizes you for "only being good for getting yourself into trouble"

I am so fond of Grell by the way, she's so facinating and she has such a striking design (<——— typed holding my Grell plush tight)

Ended up doing a doodle page of the beast form of my persona in an attempt at mimicking the Beastars style!

This got spurred on cause I realized how much Beastars really lead to a lot of my first twinges of species dysphoria and realizing how much I related and connected to the canine characters (ESPECIALLY Jack ohhh I could write an essay about him)

I really think it turned out cute!

AHOY! New persona reference sheet be upon thee!! I am genuinely so happy with how this turned out and it was time my persona design got a revamp anyways since it's been... GOOD GOD 2 YEARS SINCE I MADE THE LAST DESIGN ! Yeah I'd say it's time for a remaster with some personal vision changes to boot! Now with a shiny new anthro beast form and some cool new ears, fur, and tail by default! Yep I'd say this definitely feels more.. Me :}
