Blue Lions Maddening, No NG+: Unit Review
Iâm going to be totally honest: I wasnât planning to initially do my Blue Lions replay on Maddening difficulty. I wanted to replay the route, and I wanted to marry Hapi. Pretty simple, right? Well⌠see, hereâs the thing. A little before I started my replay, my good friend @moczothe1stâ had just finished his Maddening run of Crimson Flower. Then here on Tumblr I found @ultrakatuaâ and deeply enjoyed the commentary on a Golden Deer Maddening run. So⌠I made a decision. I started the first map of the game on Maddening, and told myself that if Dimitri got a decent level on my first try, I would stick with the difficulty for the rest of the game. I mean, itâs all RNG, surely he wonât actually get a decent level on the very first map of the ga-
⌠Well, shit. (Tons of pictures past this point!)
When it was all said and done, a part of Elsa was almost⌠disappointed.
Admittedly, it wasnât like she had expected much when she had traveled to Atohallan. Her journey had only started at all to try and get a voice to stop bothering her, particularly when she was finally able to get a decent nightâs sleep; everything else that had followed as a result of it had been, well, completely unexpected. And maybe that was the part of her that was still a child speaking, reallyâthe part of her that still yearned for adventure, for a life changing revelation, for the moment the hero of the story became something more than what they had been when everything had started. She had certainly gotten that in spades, and yetâŚ
Well. She supposed some part of her had hoped this whole âfifth spiritâ business would have been a little more⌠mystical, perhaps. Not too much, obviously; she still wanted to be able to age and grow old with her loved ones, and that didnât seem to be an issue. She still needed to perform the same number of human functions to keep herself going, and really only seemed to have a new sense of inner peace, a slightly better grasp of her magic now that she had been to its source, and a tolerance for the cold that put her previous comfort level to shame.
Sheâd mostly just hoped to kind of do away with some of those human functions. Maybe not so much the eating partâshe liked chocolate, okayâbut sleep? She could have done with not needing to sleep anymore. At least needing to sleep a little less in order to function? That would have been nice. She would have liked that.
So apparently without this woman, Pokemon would have failed in the first game, being remembered only for the intense nightmares it gave unsuspecting children. Â
Atsuko Nishida is one of the most underrated artists ever. She created the mascot, some of the most iconic Pokemon ever but she doesnât get much recognition and a lot of people donât know about her. This is just a little appreciation post for her. #ThankYouNishida
Nerdy Fact #1501: The producers of Star Trek included scenes of overt sexuality to deflect the focus of NBCâs Broadcast Standards Office censors from other controversial aspects in certain episodes, like blatant allegories of the Vietnam war and racism.
